Huge area with lots of places to explore. Lots of parking in the apple orchard. It looks like there was a spot that served wind, fudge store, pie shop, and another shop that sold different food. This was our last stop for apple hill so it was super busy. It just felt super crowded and there wasn't a lot of places to sit. Next time, we will come here first! read more

Wow this place was overwhelming in a good way. The parking was slightly confusing to navigate but we managed and found a spot (exiting was easier). FYI - there was more parking further back but not sure how to access that area, but definitely lots of cars there too. This place was also very busy. There tons of vendor tents all over and some underneath the main patio area. Lots of crafts, trinkets, etc. it was cool to see. There's a pond surrounded by lots of grass area. They had a hay bale maze too. They had plenty of food options in their main dining area plus beer and cider. Across from the main dining area and the pond is the bakery and shop. Definitely get yourself an apple fritter. They also have apples, sauces, drinks, etc in the shop. There are restrooms off the main dining area and porta potty options just past the bake shop area. There's a lot to do here! Vendor booths, apple cider and pastries, a duck pond, face painting, balloon artists, pony rides, and hay rides! We didn't try any of the food. Our kids (5 & 3) went straight for the activities! The prices for the pony rides and hay rides are a lot better than what you'll find in the Bay Area (where we are from). The children on the hay rides get a free apple as a souvenir. We would come back here just for the children's activities alone. read more

High Hill was our second stop during our Apple Hill day trip. We went the weekend before Halloween, early in the morning. This is probably the largest Apple Orchard in the area, it was also the busiest too. I saw online that they're famous for their Apple Cider Shake. I got one of those and it was delicious! Tasted just like an apple pie! I wanted to get one of their Apple Cider donuts, but the line was insanely long. There were a ton of arts & crafts vendors at High Hill along with a few food trucks. Make sure you plan ahead if you want to visit during the fall time since High Hill is one of the most popular ones and it's very crowded in the morning and afternoons. read more

High Hill Ranch is our go to Apple Hill spot! We love grabbing a hot apple cider donut and enjoying the view of the pond. Their bakery is famous for their apple cider donuts and apple fritters. The barbeque is decently priced and filling. The pulled pork sandwich is tender and juicy. They offer whole pies to go or by the slice. We didn't get it this time, but we love the caramel apple pie and bake it at home. We also love the ice cream shop. The apple pie ice cream with fresh and cooked apples is one of our new favorites. There's plenty of shopping from local craft vendors, fresh apples and grocery items, and candy fudge shops. For activities, the fishing pond is a favorite. Other activities include hay rides, pony rides, and now a little kids playground. They do get very busy on weekends, so traffic and parking are a pain. The past visit it took us about 20-30 minutes to get to the parking lot after exiting the freeway. The overflow parking is in orchard, so the roads are very bumpy and dusty. read more

Haven't been here in a few years and unfortunately it has gone waaaaaaay down hill. Food was awful and the lines were really confusing. One line was for food and pies and another was for specialty apple drinks. We split our party up only to find out that we could only use cash at the specialty drink line, but we could have ordered drinks from the food line. No way I'm waiting in the 30 minute line again to order drinks that I could've ordered if we never split the party up in the first place. The vibes were also very different. Less of a whimsical fall adventure, and more of a fairground or circus atmosphere. I also found a dead rat by the table where we were eating. I get that Apple Hill is in the country, but if you can pick up trash after a busy day, you should pick up decomposing rats. Two stars cause my fritter was delicious. read more

I was so excited to to come by and having this be my first stop at Apple Hill was amazing. The donuts, the hot coco, the vibe and energy! I thought the donuts were delicious but the apple fritter is TO DIE FOR. It's flavored so amazingly and it's soft and with a crisp crust. The next time I'm only getting a fritter, I was highly satisfied. I think out of all farms, I truly enjoyed this one the most because there were so many things to see. All shopping and vendors galore. The small lake was also beautiful, it's a lovely place to go picnic and just enjoy. I kind of wanted to look around to find more savory food as it seemed like a lot of their options here were sweets. They have a restaurant but didn't get to try their food so I'll have to check it out another time when I visit back again! Everyone here was super friendly. Most places here are dog friendly. This is the best place on apple hill. Everything is made here, if not in el dorado county. The apple fritters are an absolute must, as is the soft caramel wrapped marshmallows. Brrrrr. Decided to head to Apple Hill for our annual Apple round up for thanksgiving and of course the amazing Apple donuts. Soooo yummy. Cinnamon and cinnamon glazed donut for the guys and me - an Apple fritter the size of my face. My fritter was still warm and full of delicious Apple pieces. The outside glazed but not too hard and the inside soft and sweet. So worth the $6 and I only ate half so I could still respect myself. I learned the last time - I ate the whole thing and didn't have room for more goodies on our next stop. We wandered around the craft vendors also buying unique gifts for friends for the holidays and supporting small biz! Usually this place is packed! This place sounds like a super fun place to experience in person and I bet the foods taste great on location. This review is for the frozen basic Apple pie, brought back from High Hill and baked according to the instructions. The pie looked beautiful and baked up golden. However, the filling was watery and thin, made of little more than large chunks of mealy, bland, seemingly unseasoned apples; the crust interior was thin, bland, pasty, and gummy. This might be the kind of place where you need the full experience of being there and enjoying things fresh; or perhaps some of their more complex pies hold up better to freezing and being baked at home. We stopped by High Hill Ranch on Saturday on the way up to do some camping at Union Valley. It was my daughter's birthday weekend and she wanted pie instead of birthday cake. We walked around a bit and bought their infamous apple donuts and some apple fritters. We also decided to grab some food at Pie House. We got the Chili Cheese Fries, Cheeseburger and Bowl of Chili -- my daughter also picked out their Peaches and Cream pie! All the food was better than expected - we had a big party with us and everyone liked their food. We loved the outdoor patio at Pie House - it's got lots of table space and it's a great area to just relax. The staff were also very friendly and the food came out quickly. We also picked up some homemade caramel and some honeycomb! I was eyeballing some pickled veggies and salsas that I'll have to buy next time we visit. I could spend hours at High Hill and we usually do when we take our annual trip in the Fall. There's so much to do like pony rides and the Fudge Factory plus all of the other stops along the way. Second stop on the Apple hill excursion. The land is very expansive and includes a variety of shops and activities to do. The food selection in their little cafeteria building had a small variety of food options. The food comes out quickly. I was a bit disappointed with the $19 meal I purchased. But overall it was decent for the day's trip. The donut stall has a small menu of about 7 different donut options and a lot of canned jellies and jams. For the fritter apple to dough ratio was way off and it tasted either burnt or perhaps the oil needed to be changed. This was my first time going to Apple Hill and this was our first stop!! We went on a Tuesday morning. Pros: plenty of vendor variety - we shopped around and found some good things to take home, including a native crafted sweatshirt, a handmade cat purse, and a box that had miniature items in it! We had no trouble finding parking at 10:30am on Tuesday. The hard apple cider was amazing. The maple and pumpkin donuts were pretty good, but not the best I've ever had. I ordered a hot dog and there was SO much seating available. The pond was cool to look at and didn't smell bad. We walked past alpacas and the worker allowed us to feed them! Prices here seemed reasonable compared to the other Apple Hill stops we made. Cons: I could see how parking would fill up QUICK and there was no rhyme or reason to how people were parking. We had time to kill while in Placerville and ended up going here based on reviews. Not our deal at all as we have no interest in all the little craft booths and henna tattoo tents. But having stopped in we had to try the food. They serve a lot of guests, the pace was amazing to see. The food looked very basic, probably coming off the back of the Sysco truck. So we were glad we ate lunch before coming. But the pies looked delicious and we knew they were made right on property so we got a slice. We choose the sour cream & apple berry. It consisted of diced apples, blackberries, and sour cream, finished with a dutch crumble topping and chopped walnuts. This was a little slice of heaven. It was served hot and had great flavor. Lo and behold, there was a full rack , there were zero pumpkins in front of the kids "pumpkin patch". It's been more than 20 years since I've been to Apple Hill, and it was well worth the revisit. There are a couple of dozen apple/produce farms, wineries, and breweries/cider places within a five + mile radius. Get yourself a map that is readily available, and start hopping around. They are distinctly different, and High Hill is the granddaddy of them in size and offerings. Generally, these farms are open in the fall until the New Year, a few all year, so check before you go as days and times vary, too Be prepared as I came on a weekday, and on weekends, it gets crowded, and parking can be difficult. High Hill is expansive with a number of buildings, vendors, food, crafts, and many outdoor activities. After checking our the vendors and crafts I headed over to get an apple fritter, with a walnut topping. YUM! It was super large and absolutely delicious. Don't miss it for $6. I got a hot cocoa with it, and it was scrumptious. All of the food offerings look good, and one could easily spend the day eating on goodies and wandering around. And, of course, there are apples! Lots and lots of apples of all varieties. The Fudge Factory is beyond the back portion of the property, and don't miss it for some great sweets. Prices are a bit high, which goes with the territory, but it makes for a fun outing on a Fall day. Before leaving, I grabbed a homemade sour cream berry and apple pie for home ($25.). Been here more than a few times but this is not my favorite place. Theres way better orchards than this one but this one is the main attraction. Maybe cuz of the pond they have and stock with fish. Hands down this is the most expensive orchard. They have the vendors set up selling stuff. I've had their donuts and honestly they aren't as good as rainbow orchard or Boa Vista. They have boxes of apple for almost the double of what you will pay at Delfino. This place is louder and more active than the other spots. The views and scenery are beautiful, thats mainly why I come back. The service I get at the the shops is hardly any, thats what I hate, I guess vendors always look at me and think I'm broke lol. We love visiting High Hill Ranch and getting our fill of apple-everything. Normally we visit around 11 or noon, but this time it was 4pm. Parking was super easy this time in the first lot on the right, whereas we normally park deep into the apple orchards on the left. Picked up donuts, apple juice, apple cake and pies to take home. In and out in under 30 minutes. We don't typically do the activities there, but you can still see lots of families having fun throughout the area. ASSAULTED MY ONE YEAR OLD NIECE! if I could give this place a zero star I would. I took my niece by the apples with her little wagon to take cute fall pictures after purchasing from MANY of the vendors there. As I'm taking pictures and she's holding an apple and a man employed by them came up to us and grabbed her little hand, shook her, and took the apple and the wagon. She was screaming crying and scared. I asked the manager to fill out an incident report and she "couldn't provide us with his name". We called the police and as we're waiting for them that same man came up an inch from my face screaming at me. IT was extremely traumatizing and the owners did nothing!!!!! All they did was tell US not to return after reviewing the footage and seeing the man put his hands on my niece. She is a baby and he is a grown man. Please if you have children DO NOT GO HERE. One of our favorite spots when we go to apple hill. So many great vendors and love the view of the pond. There is benches for seating or bring a blanket to sit on the grass too. Lots of parking and definitely gets busy on weekends so go very early! We love the donuts and always try the seasonal ones. The apple fritters are pretty popular too! This was our first stop on our Apple Hill Adventure. We arrived around 10am on a Sunday Morning. My girlfriend likes to stop her first as it's one of the busiest farms so the lines extend all the way beyond the building if you don't get here early. For as busy as this farm gets they are really orderly when it comes to parking and there are lots of cars. We parked in the orchard between two apple trees. Surprisingly it was easy to back out of. Every farm is know for something. This farm is known for there homemade apple donuts. I like the crumble donuts the best. You can actually taste bits of apples in the donuts. The donuts are made fresh daily. Once you stand in the long line there are several windows and tables you can walk up to and get your donuts. If you want Carmel apples walk to your right and go to that window. You can also get Carmel apples in the fridge section in the check out line. Then you don't need to stand in the donut line. If you want to fish you can rent a rod and fish in their stocked pond. Last year we checked it out and no one was catching anything and we saw several dead fish floating in the pond. I didn't take a close look this year. If you are into shopping there are lots of booths set up for finding that perfect handmade gift. Last year we spent more time here and went into the fudge shop. They also have a pie shop where you can get whole pies to take home to your loved ones. read more

It's our first time here. I recommend coming early to beat the crowds. One of the workers told me it's best to come here during Sept. to Nov. That's when they'll have all the pies in stock, and a lot of the vendors and gift shop are open. Parking wasn't hard, and the people were friendly. I stopped or asked a few of the workers' questions. They were not grumpy, like they liked working there. The view was breath taking, I can definitely see us spending a day here and just walking around. A few of the stores were closed, but they had a place for you to ride a pony or go fishing. We mainly came here for the donuts and left with way much more. The apple fritters were huge, hot, and fresh. It was thick, fluffy, and cinnamony. It reminded me of eating a fresh cinnamon roll, just as messy but so delicious. It wasn't super sweet, and you can taste the chunks of apples. We also ordered a dozen assorted donuts. They were all delicious. Usually, I'm picky with donuts. We cut them all in half to sample. I can describe each one but I think it's best for you to try yourself. They were all so moist, and some like the chocolate and maple donut had that crunchy piece like an old-fashioned donut. Just thinking about it makes my mouth water. I can see the hype in driving all the way here for them. We went to the mini market right next door and ended up buying a whole bunch of goodies that I can't wait to try. A couple next to me were talking about how usually the apple butter is sold out, so I had to grab a jar. I can't wait to come back next year to get the full experience.
