We picked up some delicious pasta sauce, calm home vibes are everywhere and enjoyed trying a variety of their cider flavors--each one was unique and so good! My teenage son especially loved The Pink Panther--it felt like it was perfectly crafted for his generation. What truly made our visit unforgettable, though, was meeting Mr. Yoland. Hidden Star is a hidden gem tucked into the gorgeous hills of Apple Hill. The kids can run wild in the play area while adults "supervise" with one of their twenty cider options (no need to narrow it down- they offer flights!). We went on the last day of November and on our way out discovered the apple slingshot! There's a spacious outdoor patio with jumbo Connect Four for a little friendly competition, and the food smelled so good we had regrets that we'd already eaten. If you like hard cider, this is the stop for you. Line for it is long and moves slow so be prepared. However there is plenty of variety to find something you like, even non-alcohol ones. They have beer caddies if you want to buy six to bring home. I wish the line was shorter so you could try the options before buying. Didn't get to try the bakery since everything was sold out by the time we stopped here (~1pm). Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Not much else to do here though. Parking is tough too. read more

Come on, let's get this review rating up to the five stars it deserves! The owners that have taken over in the last couple of years are killing it with improvements from more exciting cider flavors and cidery to an expanded kids playground and even better on-site food, including a whole host of Panini's are keeping hidden star a favorite for ours and making it even me for so many more. I always campaign for this to be stopped number one but inevitably we finish our visits here. My wife will take the boys into the play area and I'll head to the cidery to choose two glasses for us to enjoy while they play. This time around we had the bourbon jalapeño cider as well as a cider that combines various types of heirloom apples with Cabernet, grapes for a delightfully, dry crisp drink. Our kids can never get enough of this playground. They love the seesaw and all of the old vehicles, including the plane, firetruck and many more. The new owners have fixed up and enhanced many of the structures from the ship to the culvert tunnels there's just so much to do for children in this playground. This is a must visit for anyone in Apple Hill and the fact that it's rating is 3.7 which is an improvement from before is shocking. Neat spot with a relaxed atmosphere. Even indoors it was a bit cold, so some added heating would improve comfort. There was also a leak from the ceiling near our table, which wasn't a major issue but something to note. We ordered three cider flights (12 tastings) for six people; a great way to try a wide range of flavors. We always make an effort to come here on a weekday. Once, we came on a Friday, and it was busier than their usual weekdays, and that was enough to solidify that during the weekend, this place is packed! We love the toddler town and how risky it is. We are disappointed the giant swing is now down. The vendors are always interesting. The last time we came, there was a carnivorous plant man selling his plants. There's a barn-style setup where they offer hard cider tastings--my husband's the cider fan, and the guy there was really helpful in guiding his picks. She was also friendly and very welcoming with us. This stop is a great one if you have kids! Great playground for kids and hard cider for the parents! We were a little disappointed because we showed up a little after 3:30 and the kitchen was already closed, even though they are open till 5. The hard cider was really good, but I would not recommend the flights. It is a much better value to get one or two full beers than getting the flight for $20. Out of the cider I tasted, the heat wave was my favorite. Great kick to it and delicious flavor. There is a really cool playground for the kids. It has an old airplane and fire truck!! We went here for the first time today and it was amazing! The lines were long but the customer service was unmatched. The employees seemed to enjoy their job and they were kind and patient taking orders. We ordered garlic fries, flights, apple donuts, and apple cider. Everything was delish. We have been to Apple Hill many times in the past and had never came upon this gem! We were planning a trip with our kids and I was looking on Reddit for the best orchards for kids. Hidden Star did not disappoint, and will become a staple in our future Apple Hill trips! It is so cute, giving all the farm vibes! They have so much for kids to do. This is always our first stop for apple hill. It's conveniently right off the freeway. If you get there early parking it a breeze if not good luck. The playground has plenty of things for the kids all ages. The Apple sling shot was a hit with my kids. $12 a bag of apples to sling away at targets. The ciders were some of the highest ABV percentages I've seen. The flights are reasonably prices and a great way to try their ciders. It's an easy process of writing the number of the cider you want on the paper and handing it over. The downfall, porta potties specially during the bush season. We came through here on our Apple Hill adventure. It was a great place. There was a little play area for kids to use, a small store inside that also took food orders, great sized picnic area with tables and umbrellas, cider tap house offering 24 ciders including a NA option. Staff were very friendly and loved sharing information. The store had jams, honey, pickles, sauces, sandwiches, salads, donuts, etc. The cider taphouse had single pour options or flights of 4. They even had bottles of their cider that you could purchase. We grabbed a couple bottles of the Hawaii Five-O along with some pickles and mustard. Plenty of parking. The kids play area is not safe at all. It is just corrugated pipes stacked on top of each other with large drop offs, lots of random wood pieces and wood boxes for them to fall off of. Also, an older guy who worked there yelled at me when I was loading my 3 month old and toddler into the car saying I needed to hurry up and move immediately. My car was parked the same as the rest of the cars there, traffic was moving behind me, and it was totally uncalled for. Cider Bar and Bakery in Apple Hill [Camino CA] Came to Hidden Star for their craft hard ciders and baked goods. While daughters went to the Cider Barn for their hard cider flights I went to the bakery instead. The line was long but it was worth it because after a bite of their pillowy soft mini apple cinnamon roll it was love at first bite. Oh, we also bought some apple fritters. But that's not all... the bakery also has an assortment of raised donuts, cider donuts, pies, jarred goods, and lunch items. The sparkling apple cider was delicious. The customer service was great at the bakery room. The non alcoholic drink was tasty. But they do have an off leash poodle / doodle not altered male dog that was greeting every dog. I do not let my dog interact with other dogs and he is a working dog. The owner just said you can shoe him away but he was still just still trying to interact with my dog. Very cool farm to come to if you have kids. Lots for them to do. Old airplane, fire truck, boat, big rig cab, a little town to run around in and a pirate ship. The apple sling shot was fun. Bag of 12 apples was $12 and you have these pre set up slingshots you shoot the apples into the field and try to hit these two pans to win a prize. We failed but it was fun. The vendors in the barn were friendly we found our ornament for the year a Sasquatch hiding in the trees. Only $5 for a hand made wooden ornament was a great price. Been here many times since we discovered it a few years back. Tons of cider options, flights are self-choose, before you go in the barn, so it's quick for them to pour your samples and get to the next person. They have a lot of their ciders bottles, but be warned it should stay cold, so come here last or bring a cooler chest. They have a pumpkin patch and a bakery, which includes lunch foods such as a pesto turkey sandwich and apple grilled cheese. Tons of room in the shade to sit. The day we were there they also had wood fired pizzas from a local vendor. The highlight of this place for kids is the giant playground area. They have a real firetruck, a real airplane, some other trucks, tons of little wooden houses, giant crawl through pipes and a pirate ship. The sand play area is a really high sided bin, so the sand doesn't get anywhere and little ones can't technically crawl away. Kept the kids busy for a long time while we enjoyed our cider. Parking fills up quickly and there's often daycares here with their group of kids on weekdays, so arrive early if you want to be at the crowds. read more

There is a pretty big selection of alcoholic ciders and lucky for us, a couple of n/a ciders since we don't drink anymore. They have a sweet dog that roams the property getting lots of love. We are locals. Bummed to see it's $20 for the cider flight. It's the tinniest 4 sips, like seriously sips. $20 is very steep. Flights at breweries are cheaper and with more volume. $10 is fair for that amount. Or at least make it 6 pours. Hands down one of our favorite spots in the area! Some of the most unique and delicious ciders, truly crafted and curated by some amazing minds. Extra points for having Summit, the friendly gray standard poodle who kept us company. Definitely worth grabbing a flight or two because of the variety they have on-site. We spent labor day weekend in pollock pines and stopped on our way up the hill at Hidden Star. The kids ordered donuts and drank fresh cider and the grown ups ordered flights of different ciders. The highlight for the kids through was the play area. They had so much fun that they asked to go back everyday of the weekend and we happily obliged and between 3 adults and 3 days had an opportunity to try most of their hard ciders offerings. My personal favorites were the Scot E. Pipen and Enlighten Mint. The donuts were delicious, especially the blueberry lavender. The staff was all very friendly and the owner was very hospitable and patiently answered all the questions the kids had about the tractors and shared some of his plan for the kids play area. Beer and food galore! One of the places at Apple Hill you can stop by. I believe this place specifically is known for their beers. They also had a food truck that sold quesabirria ramen which I found delicious! The service at the bar was lovely, they were kind and caring to their customers. Hidden Star Camino is a place I just discovered a few months ago along the series of Apple Hill ranches. This was my second time coming, and it did not disappoint My friends and I were in the area trying to make our final Apple Hill run before most of the ranches are closed. After a hike to Bassi Falls in the rain and snow, we knew we deserved a drink or 2, and I knew Hidden Star Camino was excellent the first time I went. It is a very nice and relaxed Apple Barn type of atmosphere, with Christmas lights setting the mood and some Connect 4 for entertainment. When it was time for us to order, the man at the bar serving the as very personable, helpful, and knowledgeable which honestly added to the already high quality of the experience. I ordered the Sugar & Spice hard cider, which I initially tried in early November, but not as a pour. I'm telling you this drink is so good...it provides the perfect holiday buzz, spiced with the typical holiday spices. It is smooth, not overly sweet, and you can hardly tell there is alcohol. My friends and I enjoyed our drinks over the course of a good 40 minutes or so, just enjoying the whole experience of connect 4 while savoring every single sip in our cups. We knew there is nothing else like this and ordered 2 growlers on our way out for our upcoming ski trip after the new year. read more
