My friend is a member and we did a tasting of everything. My favorite was definitely their popular "Lucky boy" a nice non dry red with a slight sweetness to it- added extra the bottle is super cute. Live music, grape crushing, wine tasting, and a tour of the crush pad made for a very fine afternoon. I'm not a wine drinker, so I can't really comment on the wine itself, but I wanted to share my thoughts on the space and service. I came here to celebrate a friend's 40th birthday, and it was the perfect spot. We sat outside near a wine fridge, had plenty of lounge chairs and picnic tables, and got to enjoy some beautiful weather. The staff was super friendly and one even offered to take group photos and joked about hiring the decorator. They let us bring our own food and decorations, which made the space really nice for the celebrant. Just a heads-up I didn't see any food available for purchase, so plan accordingly. The outdoor setup was great, with lots of shaded picnic tables. The wine tasting area inside is on the smaller side, but it was packed which is always a good sign. I'm glad I got to check it out. This particular visit, we came prepared with our own charcuterie board from charQterie. The Boeger staff are always so friendly. We're never rushed. Of course there's wine tasting but you can also buy a bottle and sit amongst the beautiful surroundings and enjoy your wine. There's limited wine snacks and other items from local vendors. They also sell a few wine accessory items, merchandise in the tasting room. I also like purchasing jewelry that are made from local jewelry makers. Recommend taking time while there to just sip your wine, relax, and take it all in. It's not a winery to rush in and out of. Perfect for picnicking or snapping a few gorgeous photos, which we have done for our family Christmas card over the years. As longtime wine club members, we're always impressed by the quality and variety of the wines. On our latest visit, we loved the Estate Barbera 2023, the Cab Franc 2020, and the Migliore Reserve 2020. Even after all these years, the staff continues to be one of the highlights. After having a good time at nearby Smokey Ridge Ranch, my wife and our friends decided to continue the good times at nearby Boeger Winery. After parking our cars, we were greeted by the sweet tunes of a musician doing a cover of a popular song. As we walked into the indoor entrance, we were warmly greeted by an employee. She quickly provided us with menus and we decided to opt for two bottles of their 2023 Sauvignon blanc and a charcuterie board. The very attentive employee noticed that the board had everything but crackers, so she swiftly retrieved a bag of crackers from a back room. As we made our way to the outdoor area, we were enamored by the big trees that pretty much created shade over the entire backyard (this was such a blessing on what was a very hot October afternoon). After finding a table that was in the shade and allowed for us to see the musician, we cracked open our first bottle. As we got lost in engaging conversation with the live music as the perfect backdrop, we enjoyed the refreshing taste of the Sauvignon blanc which paired well with the offerings on the charcuterie board. Every now and then and employee would stop by our table to check in with us and see if we needed anything. Boeger Winery provided the perfect ambiance for us to connect, conclude our weekend, and be relaxed as we prepared for the upcoming work week. We used to love this place. We were wine club members and it was awesome. I noticed once they hired a new gal she was not only rude to my parents but to me as well on different occasions. I bought a bottle of my favorite wine for my birthday and it was so rancid we couldn't drink it. When we went the next time that same gal said well that happens and walked away. The customer service went down hill. The wine is good but customer service is everything to me. We stopped our membership. I've heard about the bad customer service over the last year from others. We came in on Nevada Day and were given free wine tasting with our Nevada ID. Normally, the wine tasting is $15.00 per person and you can try 6 of their wines. While the husband is a fan of reds, I drink white wines. We had great conversation with our wine taster and took 3 bottles home. Best of all they also have a variety of charcuterie boards from another local store and crackers to purchase after your tasting! We bought a charcuterie board and crackers and sat on their property which has a lot of picnic tables on the grass. What a way to enjoy the nice October day. We had gone to Placerville to just spend time going into the cute shops in the old town. Decided to try this winery right outside of town. We had a wonderful experience. Most of the wines were absolutely delicious. They were pouring 12 different wines and you choose 6 to taste. They had some little bonus wines they threw in as well. Our servers Melissa and Wade made the whole experience exceptional. Wade poured most of our wines. He was very knowledgeable and chatted with us like we good friends. I have visited many wineries between Napa, Amador County and now Placerville, there are too many good wineries out there to come back to Boeger for me. However, the grounds are gorgeous and inviting! You get to choose 6 of 12 wines to taste. Of the wines I tried, mostly whites and 2 reds, they were ok, and I liked the 2 of the whites. I will say of our group of 5 tasters, two have been wine club members of Boeger (one for over 20 years and the other for at least 10 years), I was less than impressed with the lack of knowledge of their audience and continued supporters. The rigidity of our pourer (and other staff) we encountered is unmatched for any pourer I've seen in the wine industry over the last 30 years. Most of the wineries we frequent look at the computer and at least know member names, know how long we have been supporting them and their products and offer tastings above the standard usuals to give our palate something different. In addition, our party of 5 tasters that included the 2 members, we had a driver (who was not tasting) and a plus one that wanted to taste as well but not with all of us "moms" in another room. He had to pay for his own tasting. Needless to say, I did not go hog nuts ordering extra wines nor did I decide to join the wine club. read more

I've visted Boeger Winery with friends and my husband several times. At each visit, we've been greeted by friendly staff and learned something new. The main building is beautiful, warm, and inviting. The grounds are pretty with lots of tables and chairs plus a quaint water area and a rustic building (which we understand is a private residence with the cellar used for events). Reservations are highly recommended: there are indoor tastings, garden tastings, and an orchard picnic area. Last month, we tried the garden tasting: for a small fee of $15 per person, they provide table-side samples of 5 wines over the course of an hour. Outside alcohol is not permitted but outside food is ok so you can bring your own or purchase snacks at the main building. Wine club members receive up to 4 complimentary tastings. According to their website, "In 1972, decades after the last winery in the county was shut down due to Prohibition, Greg and Sue Boeger stumbled upon this magical place and decided to call it home. As a result, Boeger Winery became the first modern-day (post-Prohibition) winery in the El Dorado American Viticultural Area." They offer a number of varietals and blends including Barbera, Zinfandel, Caberet Sauvignon, Petite Syrah, Pino Gris, Chardonnay, and Aglianico. While I'm by no means a wine connoisseur, I really like how drinkable their wines are and their staff do a great job explaining the tastes, textures, and differences of their wines. My most recent visit was during their Holiday Sip and Savor. A two-hour ticketed event which included wine samples, mulled wine (including a complimentary take-home mug), food and craft vendors, Christmas carolers, and an impressive charcuterie table by Grazing Grouse: delicious cheeses (manchengo, cheddar, blue, brie, mozzarella), salami, prosciutto, crackers, breads, strawberries, blackberries, grapes, avocados, salads, tomatoes, hummus, and beautiful flowers. It happened to be a beautiful day, complete with fantastic weather. Our 10 am to Noon time-slot wasn't crowded at all so it was great being able to linger at each of the four wine stations to sample 8 different wines plus we loved the jams from Debz Delights and candles from Placerville Candle Co. We took home several bottles of wine, some jam, a candle, and mulling spices! read more

The hostess at check in treated my friends who are BLACK and Latino DISRESPECTFULLY and ignored us standing at their booth for 5 min before addressing us with a very poor a rude " Hi what's up?" What's up?!! Who greats clients like this?? We where seated in a corner an then forgotten about! I had to three times get up for someone to replenish our tastings! Sitting an waiting 30 min between tastings is too long!! I don't know if it's just the community up there that has this mindset, but it's very gut wrenching to say the least. and I brought these lovely ladies up here cause I hadn't been in a while, and I talked very highly about this place. We were greeted with disgusted faces, rolled eyes, and we were looked at like we were a hindrance, and not like as a respected guest . We had made a reservation a month in advance, showed up 20 minutes on time early, and were told there was no place for us to sit, after waiting ten min to be greeted again rudely. when, in fact, there was four tables available, and two picnic spots. When we were finally seated 10 minutes after our reservation time we literally had nobody to come and talk to us to give us the rundown on the wines that were on special, we had to literally get up and go inside to get our wine. And when we were finally approached 30 minutes into our time by staff, they pretty much acted like how much longer are you going to be here and when are you gonna leave? I'm very disappointed and embarrassed, and appalled by this place!
