Traveling through the vineyards of the wine you're going to taste is one of my favorite highlights of a winery. Venture to Boeger, a family owned winery with its own garden to sit and sip. We did a tasting and our wonderful host was so friendly and helpful explaining the history of the winery and all the different wines we were enjoying. After our tasting, we bought a bottle and sat in the gardens to enjoy the beautiful day and surroundings. There's a lot of different vineyards you can choose from in the area, so make sure Boeger is on the list! read more

Let me preface this review by stating I'm not a wine person. My friend is a wine club member here and asked me to join her since she had to pick up some bottles. Because she is a member, complimentary wine tastings are given. There are some snacks available to purchase, but wood-fired pizza is also available Friday - Sunday starting at noon. I also saw some people bring their own food. What I liked most about this place is their outdoor area. There is a lot of shaded seating and even a pond where I spotted a frog. It was a nice and relaxing time. read more

My photos truly don't do this place justice. This is a beautiful location with mature trees that help it be 10-15 degrees cooler under their shade on a warm day. We were welcomed to bring our picnics/outdoor food here while they came by and poured us wine as we listened to the live band. Their Migliore 2020 red blend was particularly good that we took home a case! read more

We have been coming to Boeger for about 8 years. We came to the area for the first time and stopped in to try their wine, bought several bottles when we left. Kept thinking about of few of the ones we hadn't gotten so came back, bought them and joined the wine club. The winery is beautiful to just sit and enjoy you wine. However the staff makes it even more pleasant, with their knowledge and friendliness. We have come for varies events throughout the years and will continue to do so. We love sharing their wine. read more

Such beautiful country side at this winery. Their tasting room is big and full of friendly happy people. Their bubbly sauv was amazing as well as the regular Sauv blanc. My friend is a member and we did a tasting of everything. My favorite was definitely their popular "Lucky boy" a nice non dry red with a slight sweetness to it- added extra the bottle is super cute. The grounds are gorgeous and lots of peoplw picnicking and enjoying-the day. read more

The winery is just beautiful outside. I wouldn't spend time inside unless there was an open couch and maybe some bar stools, so only go when the weather is nice, but outside is just beautiful. The service is friendly and the pours are heavy. The price is pretty reasonable. read more

My partner and I stopped in on Friday with our pups, and we were so impressed with every aspect of our visit. The winery itself is absolutely stunning, and the cellar tasting experience was very unique. Hannah was an incredible host and make wonderful recommendations on all of the wines...each of which were delicious. Hands down, the best wines in the Placerville area. As we were leaving, they were setting up for an evening of love music, which we sadly had to miss. What a hidden gem!! read more

October 4, 2025 - Placerville, CA. Harvest Crush Party - We went to our first event as wine club members, and we had a great time. The event was well organized, with plenty of friendly staff on hand. Live music, grape crushing, wine tasting, and a tour of the crush pad made for a very fine afternoon. The event was open to everyone, but members got in free (for up to four people), which was a great perk. So very glad we joined the wine club. read more

Great winery with some good wines. Love how this winery is some where you can have a picnic, bring your own food but purchases bottles from the winery. On a gorgeous day sitting outdoors and watching bunch of different groups drinking wine play games, doing trivia was fun. Service is great, the whole team is spread out through the venue with happy to help attitude. Great vibe with great wine. read more

What a beautiful place. We walked inside and were given a menu. They have so many options of wine. We picked out a bottle and sat outside to enjoy it. Great tasting wine. And optional to bring snacks to picnic. Bathrooms inside were clean and accessible. Plenty of trash bins around the grounds. It was a wonderful time! We will be back. read more

We are members to the wine club but after today's visit I will be canceling it. Very uncomfortable treatment and service.

I'm not a wine drinker, so I can't really comment on the wine itself, but I wanted to share my thoughts on the space and service. I came here to celebrate a friend's 40th birthday, and it was the perfect spot. We sat outside near a wine fridge, had plenty of lounge chairs and picnic tables, and got to enjoy some beautiful weather. The staff was super friendly and one even offered to take group photos and joked about hiring the decorator. They let us bring our own food and decorations, which made the space really nice for the celebrant. Just a heads-up I didn't see any food available for purchase, so plan accordingly. The outdoor setup was great, with lots of shaded picnic tables. The wine tasting area inside is on the smaller side, but it was packed which is always a good sign. I'm glad I got to check it out. Definitely on the map for me now. I can recommend it too for anyone in the area. read more

Boeger Winery - I drank a lot. Cheers! - Wineries Near Me - Placerville, California

We really enjoy the wine here that we joined the wine club a 1.5yrs ago. A bit of a drive for us to pick up our quarterly wine selection. But it's a nice get-a-way on a the weekend. This particular visit, we came prepared with our own charcuterie board from charQterie. The Boeger staff are always so friendly. We're never rushed. Of course there's wine tasting but you can also buy a bottle and sit amongst the beautiful surroundings and enjoy your wine. There's limited wine snacks and other items from local vendors. They also sell a few wine accessory items, merchandise in the tasting room. I also like purchasing jewelry that are made from local jewelry makers. Check it out the winery the next time you're visiting Apple Hill. read more

Boeger Winery - Wine by the glass menu - Wineries Near Me - Placerville, California

We were in Apple Hill and needed to kill some time before our next scheduled event. We decided to swing by this winery as we were driving past for a glass! The property is beautiful, I loved getting to sip their Sauv Blanc while exploring. They have Adirondack chairs by a pond, cute picnic areas, and an expansive vineyard. The wine was crisp and refreshing, priced affordable for a simple glass. The staff were very friendly and gave me a great wine recommendation after I told them what I usually like. I'd love to come back here for a full tasting next time! read more

Still love visiting Boeger Winery every time we come through Placerville. The staff is ever so friendly and of course, their wines are fabulous, especially their reds. The grounds are gorgeous and makes for a relaxing place to sip a glass of wine, have some snacks, and just take in the scenery. The location is also prime as there are a number of other wineries within a short drive. read more

First visit to this lovely family winery nestled among the peaceful woods. Multi-level seating areas offer an ideal variety of tranquil venues for tastings. Appreciate they welcome bringing your own picnics, pets and families. Our group was seated in a delightful shaded area, under massive trees, next to a stream. Nick did a masterful job hosting our tasting by providing excellent knowledge about their wines and winery. Outstanding hospitality, much laughter and excellent conversations ensued as we savored each delicious vintage. It's rare that every wine on a tasting menu is so good! We were so smitten, we joined their club on the spot and happily took some bottles home. Can't wait to go back! read more

A lovely place to spend an early afternoon, evening- anytime really! The wines are delicious and reasonably priced, the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful and the grounds are beautiful! We went for a Saturday lunch and sat in the shade (on a very hot June day), where we enjoyed an incredible wood-fired pizza and glass of wine! The pizza offers delicious specials (so bummed I won't be in town for the lavender pizza!) , as well as pepperoni and (soon) margherita pizzas. There are many picnic tables in the shade- and even a set of patio couches under a ceiling fan- as well as an overflow picnic area (more sun), and plenty of restrooms. This will definitely be a regular stop when I visit my parents in placerville! read more

Best Barbara I've had! Pleasant park like grounds. I don't drink white wine but I really enjoy thier reds. Nice family atmosphere.

This is my first time coming to Boeger, and the drive-in was stunning. Walking up to the grounds you are presented with gorgeous big trees, lots of places to have a picnic with a small pond. They had a great mix of wines. I enjoyed their Walker Zinfandel. I do wish that you can enjoy your tastings outside. We had to stay inside for all of our tastings. read more

Recommend!~~~~ We've been coming here since tastings were held in the charming little cellar, and it's been amazing to see how the winery has grown while still keeping that same welcoming, down-to-earth vibe. Love the history of the winery and that it is family owned. The grounds are always absolutely beautiful--peaceful, lush, and full of character. It reminds me of a little enchanted forest. Recommend taking time while there to just sip your wine, relax, and take it all in. It's not a winery to rush in and out of. Perfect for picnicking or snapping a few gorgeous photos, which we have done for our family Christmas card over the years. As longtime wine club members, we're always impressed by the quality and variety of the wines. On our latest visit, we loved the Estate Barbera 2023, the Cab Franc 2020, and the Migliore Reserve 2020. Even after all these years, the staff continues to be one of the highlights. They're friendly, and knowledgeable. We didn't have a reservation (we never do!) and were still warmly welcomed. It's truly one of those special places we never get tired of visiting. *Tip ~ If offered, enjoy a wine flight outside! *Parking can be very tight on busy days. Snacks available (cheese, crackers, chips, etc)! read more

After having a good time at nearby Smokey Ridge Ranch, my wife and our friends decided to continue the good times at nearby Boeger Winery. After parking our cars, we were greeted by the sweet tunes of a musician doing a cover of a popular song. As we walked into the indoor entrance, we were warmly greeted by an employee. She quickly provided us with menus and we decided to opt for two bottles of their 2023 Sauvignon blanc and a charcuterie board. The very attentive employee noticed that the board had everything but crackers, so she swiftly retrieved a bag of crackers from a back room. As we made our way to the outdoor area, we were enamored by the big trees that pretty much created shade over the entire backyard (this was such a blessing on what was a very hot October afternoon). After finding a table that was in the shade and allowed for us to see the musician, we cracked open our first bottle. As we got lost in engaging conversation with the live music as the perfect backdrop, we enjoyed the refreshing taste of the Sauvignon blanc which paired well with the offerings on the charcuterie board. Every now and then and employee would stop by our table to check in with us and see if we needed anything. Boeger Winery provided the perfect ambiance for us to connect, conclude our weekend, and be relaxed as we prepared for the upcoming work week. Before the cold weather rolls in, I would to return with a large group so that we can experience some of their other wine options. Thank you Boeger Winery! read more

We used to love this place. We were wine club members and it was awesome. I noticed once they hired a new gal she was not only rude to my parents but to me as well on different occasions. I bought a bottle of my favorite wine for my birthday and it was so rancid we couldn't drink it. When we went the next time that same gal said well that happens and walked away. The customer service went down hill. The wine is good but customer service is everything to me. We stopped our membership. I've heard about the bad customer service over the last year from others. I hope they can reconcile this issue for the future. read more

We came in on Nevada Day and were given free wine tasting with our Nevada ID. Normally, the wine tasting is $15.00 per person and you can try 6 of their wines. While the husband is a fan of reds, I drink white wines. We had great conversation with our wine taster and took 3 bottles home. Best of all they also have a variety of charcuterie boards from another local store and crackers to purchase after your tasting! I recently visited this charming winery that offered a delightful experience. The service was friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely welcoming, making us feel right at home. I've visted Boeger Winery with friends and my husband several times. At each visit, we've been greeted by friendly staff and learned something new. The main building is beautiful, warm, and inviting. The grounds are pretty with lots of tables and chairs plus a quaint water area and a rustic building (which we understand is a private residence with the cellar used for events). Reservations are highly recommended: there are indoor tastings, garden tastings, and an orchard picnic area. Last month, we tried the garden tasting: for a small fee of $15 per person, they provide table-side samples of 5 wines over the course of an hour. Outside alcohol is not permitted but outside food is ok so you can bring your own or purchase snacks at the main building. Wine club members receive up to 4 complimentary tastings. According to their website, "In 1972, decades after the last winery in the county was shut down due to Prohibition, Greg and Sue Boeger stumbled upon this magical place and decided to call it home. As a result, Boeger Winery became the first modern-day (post-Prohibition) winery in the El Dorado American Viticultural Area." They offer a number of varietals and blends including Barbera, Zinfandel, Caberet Sauvignon, Petite Syrah, Pino Gris, Chardonnay, and Aglianico. While I'm by no means a wine connoisseur, I really like how drinkable their wines are and their staff do a great job explaining the tastes, textures, and differences of their wines. My most recent visit was during their Holiday Sip and Savor. A two-hour ticketed event which included wine samples, mulled wine (including a complimentary take-home mug), food and craft vendors, Christmas carolers, and an impressive charcuterie table by Grazing Grouse: delicious cheeses (manchengo, cheddar, blue, brie, mozzarella), salami, prosciutto, crackers, breads, strawberries, blackberries, grapes, avocados, salads, tomatoes, hummus, and beautiful flowers. It happened to be a beautiful day, complete with fantastic weather. Our 10 am to Noon time-slot wasn't crowded at all so it was great being able to linger at each of the four wine stations to sample 8 different wines plus we loved the jams from Debz Delights and candles from Placerville Candle Co. We took home several bottles of wine, some jam, a candle, and mulling spices! read more

I have visited many wineries between Napa, Amador County and now Placerville, there are too many good wineries out there to come back to Boeger for me. However, the grounds are gorgeous and inviting! You get to choose 6 of 12 wines to taste. Of the wines I tried, mostly whites and 2 reds, they were ok, and I liked the 2 of the whites. I will say of our group of 5 tasters, two have been wine club members of Boeger (one for over 20 years and the other for at least 10 years), I was less than impressed with the lack of knowledge of their audience and continued supporters. The rigidity of our pourer (and other staff) we encountered is unmatched for any pourer I've seen in the wine industry over the last 30 years. Most of the wineries we frequent look at the computer and at least know member names, know how long we have been supporting them and their products and offer tastings above the standard usuals to give our palate something different. In addition, our party of 5 tasters that included the 2 members, we had a driver (who was not tasting) and a plus one that wanted to taste as well but not with all of us "moms" in another room. He had to pay for his own tasting. Needless to say, I did not go hog nuts ordering extra wines nor did I decide to join the wine club. read more
