    Entrance to tasting room

This has been a favorite winery for its wine and location for many years. It is usually so peaceful. Since we were last here, the tasting process is a little different. When we visited all the tables outside were set up for tasting and staff assisted us outside. We were greeted right away and showed to a table and given menus. We had our dog who loves the trees . Our server told us how it works We chose a couple of tasting options and we also brought some food to enjoy with our wine. We enjoyed the tasting and bought a bottle to have with the lunch. Our server was very friendly and helpful.

Cozy, comforting and views for days!!! You feel like you're sitting in a Lake Tahoe sort of way!! Great first impression! LOVED the way the wine was presented!!! Definitely worth the drive!!! Thank you very very much! Would love to come back!

Love this winery! Best kept secret in Apple hill. Everywhere is so crowded and busy, but this place is only a couple mins away and so peaceful and serene. The tasting are so reasonably priced and the staff is super friendly.

For all my folks pulling into the farm, keep driving! We made the mistake of thinking this was near all of the building for the ranch and it was an additional 10 minute walk from the property. So if you can, keep driving all the way down so you can actually park at the winery rather than end up walking all the way there. We made that mistake and ended up walking back in the dark lol. But we still had a great time here. Prices are great and it in life's 2 flights for the price of one. We had a friend that was new to wine so a friend and I split the flight with her so she can sample a few. The service was great and loved that the staff stopped to actually talk to you for a bit rather than just taking our order and walking away. Property is beautiful and is a great option for a huge group of friends.

Absolutely lovely setting super close to popular Apple Hill! Shaded tables under a lovely tree canopy for outdoor seating with views of the vineyard. Great vibes and incredible service- every server was super knowledgeable and went into great detail with the types of wine in each flight, helping me learn a lot about wine. For example, I learned about tannin which is derived from the type of grape and adds bitterness and complexity. So informative! The flights are a great price too, only $15, and you choose 2 types from 4 menu options. I tried 2 different flights (reds and whites) for a total of 6 different wines! Can't be beat really. They were all different and interesting with the Malbec being my favorite. Definitely stop by madrona if you are seeking a casual, fun wine experience.

Madrona is so close to highway 50, if you're passing by, you might as well stop in. The tasting room has outdoor seating under the shade of big trees. They don't have much for food but you can grab a wedge of cheese and some crackers to soak up the wine you'll be tasting. Our server was knowledgeable and gave us lots of info in the wine and club membership.

I wish I could give this place more stars. Our first issue arose by just trying to get to the winery. Having to fight through high hill and not having the best signage. You can get lost! Wish for better signage. We get there. It's beautiful. The tasting room is tucked beneath beautiful trees. The picnic tables are perfect for social distancing. The vines are close and very picture perfect. You do get to try 6 different wines. Bad part is they might forget your order and some of your party. They did apologize but it was weird. It wasn't that busy. The wines are okay. I guess the star is crystal Ridge. I see it's value.

Madrona was a unique and relaxed tasting experience with a concentration on Rhône and Bordeaux varietals. The owner and his wife are lovely and the wines are high quality. Tasting is in a beautiful forested area in front of the tasting room with good table spacing. Pairing was vegetarian with freshly made sweet potato, corn and black bean soft tacos. The Barbera was especially tasty.

Cat Not Included. Bummer. It's a win-win when Jenny P. gets to wine taste and gets snuggles from a wine kitty at the same time. On my second trip here a few weekends ago I was on a Christmas mission for my Mom, who loves dessert wines. Madrona's muscat, Fiore, was what I was after, and lucky us, we stumbled upon their annual Christmas in the Cellar event! I've now had two radically different experiences here, first the laidback afternoon with my wine gals as a guest of my yelp wife Jackie F., who is a member here, and this last time for the busy, cheery, festive party. Christmas in the Cellar did take place partially in the tasting room and the cellar below, which was a lovely set up. I adored the elderly gentlemen who poured our first tastings in the tasting room, and Toothless was also perched on his wine boxes waiting for pets from us. He nearly climbed onto my shoulder on this visit. Maybe he is a dragon after all and not a kitty. Sadly his friend Theo, the other black winery cat Madrona had (that shares a name with my furry nephew), passed away recently. :-( I'm glad I got to meet him on my first visit here. After the preliminary tasting we were invited down to the cellar to do a few food pairings and visit a handful of local vendors as we sipped and munched. All of this was complimentary, too! There were additional items for purchase of course, but the ability to attend and all tastings were free. Madrona staff had barrel aged Cabernet available for tastings, as well. So many treats! It was a great time. I recommend Madrona for their hospitality, their dessert wines, their prices, and the fact they're still offering complimentary tastings up in the Apple Hill area when so many have started to charge. Come by and make sure you tell Toothless I said Hi. How to get here: Route to Madrona, enter the High Hill Ranch entrance, and keep on driving through past the parking areas. Follow the signs.

We had a candlelit tasting due to the power outage but it actually made it that much more of an intimate experience. For $5 or purchase or one of their bottles you get to sample 8 different wines all of which was provided with rich history and breakdowns from the owners. They described all the different processes that go into each of the wines it was really wonderful to take in some knowledge while sampling each one. I came out with a bottle of the Fiore yum! This will be a definite stop on my next visit to Apple Hill!

My husband and I have been members of the wine club for years and do kazoo caroling with the kids with them every year! This place is and amazing low-key--no pretense, pours and plenty of personality. The owner? Hilarious. Think part-winemaker, part-stand-up-comedian. The staff? Super friendly and genuinely happy to talk wine, life, or the weather in Camino. You'll feel like a regular even if it's your first visit. Now let's talk wine--because wow. Mostly reds (and they're all fantastic), but they've got a few whites that hold their own. Some standouts: Pommie: A pomegranate champagne that's basically a party in a bottle. Bubbly, fruity, and dangerously easy to love. I love them all! Just a few favorites: Dolce Bottino: A red with a name that cheekily translates to "sweet booty" . It's rich, smooth, and just a little bit flirty--like the wine version of a wink. Château Mau Faux: ( read that slow and twice ) The ultimate "any night" red. Whether you're Netflixing, grilling, or just unwinding, this one's your new best friend. Crystal Basin isn't just a tasting room--it's a vibe. Come for the wine, stay for the laughs, and leave with a bottle (or three... or a case)

Hwy 50 Brewery has live music on weekends, so Nello Olivo stays open later to match their hours. 8 PM on Fridays & Saturdays and 7 PM on Sundays!!! I don't have to leave Apple Hill around 5 or 6 PM anymore. What a wonderful and inviting place to do a wine tasting! I received such gracious service from Mark and another male bartender. I was allowed several free sample sips before deciding what to order. If you want a proper tasting flight with a tray of 5 wine glasses (filled with 2 ounces or about an inch up the wine glass?), it costs $25 if you want to sit and drink at a table and only $15 if you are willing to stand and taste at the bar, assuming the bar isn't too busy. A glass of wine is $10 and a glass of premium wine is $20, as of 7/29/2023. There is also a Yelp check-in offer for a $15 flight of 5 wines. Mark recommended the 2020 PRIMITIVO, which is his favorite and ended up being my favorite. Smooth. The MALBEC was my 2nd favorite for its flavor. I also tried the Sangiovese, Barbera, Sinfonia, Chardonnay, and Cali Mojo. Kept on tap, the Cali Mojo tasting was ample and was served over ice cubes. So refreshingly sweet, fruity, and bubbly that I ended up ordering it! I was slow to realize you could order the CALI MOJO in colorful cans to take home. I should have done that. It's a lovely wine spritzer or wine soda. You can purchase snacks to go with your tasting. I forgot to take a look at the charcuterie offerings in a fridge, but the sweet treats are only 2 for $1. These include individually wrapped Ferrero Rocher, Madeleine cookies, and brownie bites. Very reasonably priced and thoughtful. You could also buy food from Hwy 50 Brewery next door (i.e., pizza, hot dogs, tacos, salad, fries), and you're welcome to wander, sit, drink, and listen to live music over there. Nello Olivo also sells attractive and affordable gifts. A cute blanket with cats or a pretty swimsuit or beach cover-up costs $20-$25. $6 bracelets. $8 dangling earrings. Nello Olivo is conveniently located less than 2 miles away from Boa Vista Orchards on Carson Road. I didn't realize Camino was that close. The parking lot is quite large and long, but I imagine it could get full if it's packed. Nello Olivo is in a plaza within walking distance of several other wine tasting rooms and restaurants. We ordered at the bar inside and then the wines were brought out to us on the patio. It took longer than expected to get our flights, and then we were a bit disappointed that the sommelier didn't spend much time telling us about the wines. She brought them out and told us what each wine on the flight was, then left and we never saw her again. We've had several amazing tasting experiences in wine country where the sommelier tells you many more details about the wines including where on the property the grapes are grown, how it is made, and what different notes we will taste in each wine. It was a pretty basic explanation and we didn't feel that it was very personable despite it being a slow weekday. We ordered two tastings but all the wines were brought out in small carafes, we couldn't tell if each one held enough wine for one of us or both of our tastings combined. This wasn't ever explained either, so we assumed it was for both of us to share. We still enjoyed having our wines on this beautiful property, and we were able to have our baby with us which was nice. We weren't very impressed with the wines themselves and did not have any favorites that we needed to purchase bottles of. It is $10 for a glass or a tasting which was quite the deal. The prices and atmosphere were great, but the wine and overall experience was average.
