My last review of Hidden Still was less than stellar. Matt, the GM called and we talked at length about the issue I had experienced. I was satisfied it wouldn't happen again and decided we'd give it another try next time we were in town. My husband and I had been in Baltimore for the weekend and took an extra day to run up to Hershey to see the folks before we flew home. I had told Matt that we'd come in and so I took my family to Hidden Still for lunch. The 6 of us had to wait a few minutes for our table but then were seated and greeted almost immediately. Except for one mistake, that either he or my brother should have recognized, our server really was on top of his game. This is probably bad to admit but my sister in law and I are always the first ones looking at the drink menu. I already knew I wanted the lavender lemonade but it wasn't on the fall menu. When I asked our server, he thought they could still make it and checked with the bar. They, in fact, still had a few cases of whatever makes that drink unique. (I need that recipe - It would make the neighborhood happy hour rock star!) Our server told me that there is enough, let's call it special stuff, that I'm safe for a few more months. Whew. Meanwhile, my SIL ordered a smoked margarita. It was one of the coolest presentations I've seen in a long time. You really have to try it, if for nothing else, to see that presentation. Back to lunch. We all had a very early morning and now a quite late lunch and a few of group was getting a little hangry. We were ready to order and we thankfully were served our sandwiches quite quickly. I stayed with a pretty safe bet, the tuna melt. The sandwich was huge and quite good. I'd certainly order it again and if you're a tuna salad lover - definitely give this one a try. My mom and dad both ordered the pulled pork and my husband and brother both ordered the Maryland pit beef. My dad and hubby both really enjoyed their sandwiches as did my brother but here's where our story goes a little awry. While the rest of us were eating, my mom picked at her food and complained. (She's 83 and has turned into the stereotypical grumpy old lady) I know this sounds horrible but we are so used to her complaining that we tend to just agree with her and then let her keep talking while while we move on. Once in a great while she actually has a legitimate gripe - and this was one of those times - her and my brother's sandwiches were switched but neither realized it until they were almost through eating. Like I said, she's grumpy and when she gets going there is no one on this planet who can please her. She refused to have another sandwich made and she refused to eat half of my sandwich. Don't ask her if she'd eat here again - it will be a solid no. Ask me and the rest of my family and you'll get a mutual "can't wait until the next time we're in town". I'm glad we gave Hidden Still another try. I'll definitely be back for that epic lavender lemonade. I've heard that the French toast donuts are amazing - another compelling reason to come back. We went out on Friday evening to celebrate my boyfriend's 30th birthday, and this restaurant is a true hidden gem! get it hidden lol. In all seriousness the ambiance is freshening and relaxing, they make their own spirits and their cocktails are to die for. Made to perfection, and while we're on perfection their food was absolutely delectable. We found ourselves saying we'll be back before even leaving the table. The service was great, the drinks were excellent, and the food was great. This is my 2nd time back the 1st time I only had drinks, which were all fantastic. Had two of the canned beverages yesterday, which were both fantastic at only $5 a drink! Someone else I was with got the heath bar martini, which was amazing. I tried the Caesar salad, which was really well dressed and tasted really good, and I also had the fries, which were excellent. The person who got the tacos said they were really good. And the person that got the nachos said they had amazing taste.The ginger really came thru and had a good amount of tuna And she liked that it was served with won ton chips and not normal nacho, chips. read more

Stopped last night for dinner with my daughter. Very beautiful and clean building. My daughter got the pizza cupcakes which she liked but was way too doughy. She said they needed more sauce and cheese. She also got a Shirley Temple. I got the dry rub ribs with mashed potatoes and asparagus. The ribs were a little on the dry side for my liking but tasted good. The potatoes and asparagus were perfect. I also got a spirit flight to try 3 of their own made liquors. Asked for a whiskey and 2 different rums but got 3 rums instead. The two rums I asked for were amazing the white rum which I didn't ask for tasted like paint thinner and it definitely opened up my sinuses lol. Hostess and our waiter were both super nice. We love Hidden Still. I have been 5+ times and every time, I leave thinking "that was so good... I'd definitely get [insert food item here] again." The best aspect of this restaurant is the seasonal menu... you never get bored trying different things! Tonight, I got the French Dip which was outstanding. My drink - the Hocus Pocus - was a gin & tonic with blackberry... the perfect combo of a sweet touch but not too much. Everyone else loved their meals including the chicken parm scallopini, burger and Nashville hot chicken. A few tips... if you're a blue cheese dressing lover, it's a MUST get... some way, somehow. I can't believe we've been visiting Hershey for years and just found this place! If you love distilleries and craft cocktails, then this is the place for you. And bonus... they have great food too! I recommend the appetizer of chicken lollipops. They make a great old fashion with a few different twists, and I also loved the espresso martini. Hidden Still offers unique spirits and high-quality American fare in a shabby, chic setting. The drinks are expensive for Central, PA but if you are looking for a more upscale experience would definitely recommend! Service is always friendly and efficient. As for the food, usually we only go for drinks but we went here last summer and I haven't stopped thinking about the mussels! Not sure if they are still on the menu, but they were delicately flavored and rich (and not fishy at all!). The salmon was also well-prepared. My husband and I were waiting by the hostess stand and were next in line, but no one came to seat us. A group of five arrived after us and were helped right away, while we continued to wait. It felt like we were overlooked. Sadly, the food wasn't good enough to make up for that experience. Would I return? Probably not. Would I recommend it? One of my wife and I's favorite restaurants to go to. The food and drinks are always great and we love the vibe inside, especially if you can get seated up in the loft area. But we don't love their indoor/outdoor tables in the cold weather, it's doesn't work. They change their menu seasonly which is nice. We are locals and support this restaurant year round. My children know this and purchase gift cards here for us for holidays and special occasions, we do the same . We have noticed the last couple of times going here with just the two of us that service is going down hill. Mother's day weekend we were seated on the enclosed patio and no server showed up. The restaurant was basically empty when we came in with reservations @ 4. We asked about our server and was told by the out door bartender no server was assigned so he would take care of us. We requested to be moved and we were put in an area with a server. Yesterday with a reservation we were seated with a server. She took our order and drinks, we had no utensils when thefood came had to ask the person that brought it for some. Server checked on us after we received our food. She never returned until we flagged down another server to find her to get another round of drinks. We asked about loyalty points when using our gift card as we had done in the past and were told no you don't get them with a gift card, she wouldn't even put my phone number in to check. Any other time we had used a gift card here their was no problem. I spoke to manager he was going to take care of it, so far nothing. Not sure that we will be returning here. read more

Visiting from Bethlehem for advisory board committee meetings on statewide and nationwide increase in investments by the current administration for research in higher learning educational institutions. Made reservation for 8. Arrived at 7:20. Was greeted by Hunter at the host stand. Agreed to notify us when a table was ready and suggested sitting at the bar for a drink. We ordered drinks and appetizers at the bar with Jocelyn. She was warm, welcoming, professional and helpful. I noticed party after party being sat and party after party being notified at the bar that a table was ready for them. The time then was 8:10. I didn't want to pester the hosts but I decided to ask about our table. I approached and asked Hunter if our table was ready and he said we told him we didn't want a table and we were ok at the bar. I said that we never said that. So we were sat at the first table next to the host stand and walkway to the restroom. My wife was freezing the entire time. I noticed a firepit outside so we went and warmed up. We were never asked if we wanted outside or inside seating and there were at least a dozen open tables outside. The pretzel and the burnt ends were decent. The mahi enchiladas were awesome. The jerky burger was great. Our server was Melissa. She was wonderful and pleasant. We are 25%+ tippers often tipping 30%-50% because we are fortunate and in a position to compensate service industry workers when they work hard to ensure we are treated like our experience matters. Unfortunately, the restaurant was not crowded or packed and Hunter neglected us and did not meet the bar or even a subpar standard. I let him know politely and courteously that I worked FOH for 29 years and it was either an off day for him or an off day for us as we saw so many others treated better and cared for but we didn't receive that same courtesy from him. We happened to see this on our jaunt to Stumpy's. One of the family is big on whiskey and distilleries, so we had to stop by. Very glad we did. This place is very nice. From the ambience, to the furniture, the decor... all of it. We of course started off with a few flights of whiskey. I myself ordered the cocktails. I doubt all of the pours will be what they got; several shots of whiskey just for a tasting. It was incredible. We all found drinks we liked. I didn't have a single bad drink. All four were packin' heat, if you know what I mean. Not the biggest fan of their vodka and tequila. But it was a nice changeup. They also happen to have incredible food. From the appetizers, to their lunch items, to their dinners. We hung out here for about three hours. My brother got a chicken sandwich, a dessert, and an entree. Never have any of us ordered a "double-dinner". I got their slow-braised beef tortellini and pumpkin cheesecake. The dessert was spectacular; filled with rich, pumpkin flavor. Can't recommend this place enough. It's also very close to the Hershey stadium *wink* read more

We were in Hershey for a few hours, and according to their reviews, Hidden Still was great and the food looked good in the photos, but what we experienced was nothing even close. We walked in and were excited because of the great atmosphere and ordered an alright bavarian pretzel. That was the first and only good thing we had. The service was good and they accommodated a nut allergy well, but the food was not good. The grilled cheese was filled with tomatoes and bacon jam which didn't taste very good together. The two salads had nothing special to them and had not very high quality ingredients. The "sourdough croutons" were not as fancy as they sounded and everything on the menu was written to glorify the bland, gross dish. The kids mac and cheese was obviously kraft and the fries and fruit were bad. The mashed potatoes were horrible and from a mix. The soups were also just not good along with almost everything else and our least picky eater in the family couldn't eat it. There was something else weird with the water system, they bring out waters for the adults and then ask if the kids want it. We had twelve and fourteen year olds and they got a paper cup for their water along with our six year old. Overall, for the price of this food you are not getting your moneys worth at all. Overall, this place is overpriced for low-quality food and I don't recommend going here. read more

This restaurant is beautiful and focused on the served-from-scratch food and has house made spirits. We were sat in the upstairs loft area which was OK, but one person from my party mentioned she'd definitely recommend sitting on the main floor to experience a better ambiance. We tried the Blood Orange Cosmo and the Pomegranate Margarita and both were heavy on the tequila and light in the fruity flavors. The food was delicious! The BBQ Ship Tacos had a toasted soft tortilla and were properly stuffed and balanced with freshness and flavor. The only underwhelming item was the shrimp eggrolls- there are definitely better tasting items on the menu for the money. If I come back I'll be sure to sit downstairs. read more

I visited the Hidden Still Spirits on a Monday in March. I arrived around 5:15 and had no issue getting a seat at the bar. One of the bartenders quickly came over to inform me that Happy Hour was until 6 and gave me a list of specials, along with a regular menu. I ordered a very tasty cocktail as well as the Maryland Style Pit Beef Sandwich. My sandwich came out in under 10 minutes. There was definitely a fair amount of meat and fries for my meal. The meat was extremely tender and had a lot of taste. Fries were good too. This place has a really good vibe to it. It is extremely close to the park and I would highly encourage anyone in Hershey to stop by for a cocktail and a meal. I would definitely stop back again. read more

Came here on a Saturday night with reservations. Our party of four was sat upstairs at a table. Our server was Ray and he was FANTASTIC! They were really busy and yet he was extremely personable and also his recommendations were on point! We all started off with a cocktail. I had the "EB" and Ray explained the drink more in depth to make sure I would be ok with the taste. Exceptional service. We got the chicken lollipops and the brisket burnt ends for an appetizer. Both were delicious with great flavor and texture. My brother and his friend both had the rib eye. It looked delicious and tasted even better. I had the short rib pot roast and OMG... I died a little it was so good. My sister in law got the special. I forget the name but it was a certain type fish and it was delicious. Also the presentation was beautiful. First time visiting the restaurant for lunch. We were greeted at the hostess area when we entered and were quickly taken to our table. We were taken back to back to a back room to be seated by ourselves which seemed kinda odd. I then suggested to our hostess to be seated in the other section of the restaurant where there was more than plenty of open booths and tables. We were then seated a nice booth and were greeted by our waiter Ray. Very polite, friendly. We started with a few drinks, a smoke old fashioned and a magorita! Both were very good. We chose the still fries for an appetizer, very good ! For entree we selected the chicken salad sandwich along with a side salad and the jerky burger ! Again , very tasty! Our waiter ray was very helpful and always asked if we needed anything , got us some extra napkins, make sure we were well taken care of ! After we finished our meal , I told him it was all very good that we enjoyed everything ! So he asked if we were finished and asked if anyone was a first responder, nurse or vet , I In fact am a first responder for my local fire department so he took off a percentage of our check for that status. He also was very nice and offered a small sample of the whiskey that is distilled at the restaurant! Very strong if you aren't a bourbon or whiskey drinker , but very good quality! I do recommend trying our hidden stills if you're in the Hershey area for a concert, shopping or going to Hersheypark ! We will be back to check out the dinner menu! Just a small hiccup with the seating situation but I would definitely recommend checking it out ! read more

Sadly, it was our last night in Hershey and we headed to Hidden Still restaurant for dinner. Wish we would have discovered this place earlier in our trip, we would have eaten here more. Hidden Still is kind of hidden but well worth it. Mr. B started with a Bourbon flight of their house made Bourbons and thoroughly enjoyed each one of them. I was thrilled to see Waltz Vineyards Rock Red wine on the menu as it was the one I enjoyed so much on the Strasburg Railroad. We were set for drinks, now on to the menu. Mr. B settled on the Low Country Shrimp and Grits. Sitting atop the chipotle white cheddar grits with chunks of country ham were perfectly seared red shrimp, and all were sitting under a smoked tomato Beurre Blanc sauce. It was absolutely delicious and he savored every single bite until there was nothing left in the bowl. I went for the French onion tenderloin mafalda filet mignon tips pasta with caramelized onions and portobello mushroom chunks in a sherry wine and a rich and creamy beef demi-glace sauce. On top were torn bits of fresh burrata cheese. The pasta dish was served with a lovely crisp salad. The service was impeccable, and the atmosphere cool and classy in a rustic sort of way. read more

We went for brunch on Sunday at 12pm and the service was awful. They open at 12pm and in addition to our group of eight there were maybe between five and eight other tables. It took the waitress almost ten minutes to come to our table for our drink order and another fifteen for our cocktails to arrive. ( it seemed they didn't even start making our cocktails until the waitress came over to ask the bartender) I also ordered a cup of regular coffee, something that doesn't seem completely out of the ordinary for a brunch , and after being reminded by the waitress three times that she was going to get it it took almost 30 minutes for a simple cup of coffee, they also didn't bring any sugar or cream so I had to wait another few minutes before I could drink it. My family has been going to hidden still since it was a food truck and drink shack. It has always been the place I recommended for out of town friends and every special occasion to celebrate. Over the past few months the management has turned over and the service has gone down hill considerably. We had a similar experience over Father's Day weekend. I wouldn't be writing this review if it was a one time experience however after having two bad experiences in two visits I feel it is now the norm and not an exception. read more
