We planned our Banff trip a bit late for July and didn't realize it would coincide with the Canada Day holiday, so accommodations were limited. Hidden Ridge Resort was one of the only options left within our budget. After arriving in town by bus from Calgary, we took the Roam bus to the resort. Luckily, a Roam bus pass is included with your stay, and the stop is conveniently just steps away. Although on the return trip, you'll need to get off at the nearby Douglas Fir Resort. Hidden Ridge is located a bit farther from town, so if you don't have a rental car like us, you'll be relying on the bus system. The resort doesn't have an on-site restaurant but does offer a full kitchen, which was useful for storing leftovers and quick snacks thanks to the fridge and microwave. Our room was on the lower level, which made it feel a bit dark, it could definitely use more lighting. Also, Wi-Fi was nearly nonexistent due to the remote mountain location, so make sure to download your movies or shows in advance if you plan to unwind offline. The outdoor pool and hot tub boast a beautiful mountain view, but they were often filled with loud children, making it less relaxing than we'd hoped. Housekeeping came daily to tidy up, replace towels, and empty the trash, which we appreciated. Overall, it's an older resort, and the photos online look a bit nicer than what you get in person. Still, it served its purpose well enough for our 4-night stay in Banff. read more

We stayed here for two nights. We were in the lodge right next to the pool so it was very convenient. I liked the pool and the small flower garden near by. The front desk staff was very helpful. We borrowed the bear spray - so that saved us $30. They also had a kindling kit which was necessary. They also had a smores kit but we didn't avail ourself of that offer. I liked also that you could get freshly made coffee in the front office as well as actual creamer. Our room was on the bottom. I liked that there was some privacy - you just look out the window and see trees. However, because of the direction it is facing, it's a very dark room. I think the room can benefit from more lighting, like some overhead lighting. The window in the bedroom looks out to the car tires. There was also some weeds growing there. However, the hanging baskets were some of the best I saw - even better than some of the Fairmonts we visited. Other members in our party had the room above the front office with a hot tub that we used. It was pretty nice - very good view. There are some trails nearby that we drove to. We mostly drove into town, but there is a shuttle that you can use although it can get very crowded. We often would drive in late and have to park further away, but we always found parking. There is also a parkade somewhere below, but we never needed it. read more

We recently stayed here for the weekend and rented a 2 bedroom + loft which sleeps 8 people. The unit was pretty well maintained and we were impressed with how much space we had. There was a full kitchen (although only 2 burners on the stove worked), microwave, coffee maker and kettle, & dishwasher. We had 2 full bathrooms which was nice as well. The basement had a Wii and bubble hockey table which was super fun for the kids. There was a convenient walk-out from one of the bedrooms and a balcony off the living room. The wood-burning fireplace was a nice addition to make it super cozy. There is both surface parking and underground parking as well which was nice! The hot tub overlooks the mountains which is beautiful. I would definitely stay here again. read more

Very pleased with my stay at Hidden Ridge! Things to note: -The hotel is a 30 minute walk from downtown Banff. Walking downtown is easier (downhill). If you don't want to walk there is a free shuttle that comes once an hour. -Plenty of parking onsite -A heated pool. Great views of the mountains from the pool area, and really just the whole hotel area in general (perks of staying on the actual mountain and not downtown). -All of the rooms are condos and have a living room and kitchen. I'd suggest stocking up the fridge a bit - the hotel has no food or drink and the closest place to get it is downtown. -Rooms are clean and spacious, just a bit outdated. -No AC in the room, but this was never really an issue. It gets pretty cool at night and the room had a large fan. -250/night rate in the middle of summer season. This price is similar to what we saw downtown, so if you'd rather be in the thick of things you can pay a similar rate to do that. Although we wished we were closer to the bars and restaurants we really enjoyed our stay up in the mountains. You definitely can't find a hot spring pool with mountain views at any of the downtown hotels, that's for sure. If you are feeling more of a rustic vibe during your Banff visit then I highly suggest posting up at Hidden Ridge for a few days. You'll enjoy it! read more

One of the worst hotels we have ever stayed at. The owner, management and staff care absolutely nothing about hospitality. They care solely about squeezing as many pennies as possible out of every guest. The rooms are run down, from extreme mildew and black mold in the bathrooms, to abhorrently filthy wall switches, to a broken stove top, to towel racks falling off the wall, to dangerously broken wall outlets, etc., etc. (see photos) This "resort" is listed as having daily room cleaning. This is a scam. It's not until after your first night staying here that you find out, via a note left by housekeeping, that there is no daily cleaning. They claim to clean the room on the third day of your stay, but that does not happen either. They claim to provide cleaning supplies, but none were provided during our 4 day stay. They leave 2 dishwasher detergent tabs under your sink and never replenish them. We had to call the front desk to ask for everything. There are cleaning supplies such as paper towels or cleaning rags or spray cleaner. They merely replace your towels. That is all. They claim to make the beds, but look at our photos to see how this goes...absolute worst housekeeping of all time. Hot tub closes over an hour before it's even dark outside. Staff is incredibly rude. They yell at guests for driving "the wrong way" through the property, despite the 100% absolute lack of any indication that the road is one-way. There are zero arrows, signs or anything posted or painted to indicate that the road is one-way. Laundry facilities are extremely filthy, tiny (2 old, run-down washers for a large complex) and extremely overpriced. It cost $20 to do 2 loads of laundry. This "resort" is an extremely loud party mecca on weekends. Every bachelor, bachelorette and birthday party from Calgary seems to stay here on weekends. I was hesitant to book with Hidden Ridge given it's owned by the same group that operates the Inns of Banff, but I was very pleasantly surprised by the quality of my stay there. The only disadvantage is no free ski shuttle, although there is bus service to downtown. As a guest free bus passes are available; we tried taking the bus but it was running late and I was freezing so we opted to drive into town instead. The staff was friendly and the condo in great condition, much better than average for a decent price and a good package (ski passes, breakfast items provided in fridge). The bed was comfortable, and we got to enjoy breakfast company of a doe each morning. The grounds are lovely. Very regrettably we did not get a chance to enjoy the hot tub although it looked fabulous. A little home away from home, I wish I owned the condo! Our neighbours upstairs were a little noisy at times, but overall the sound proofing in the place is acceptable. Parking was sometimes a challenge, if there's no above ground parking left it can be a little tricky to manoeuvre a large truck in the underground parking. It looks like they were making more spaces down there so here's hoping it will improve. Maybe they should consider designated parking spaces in front of condos where people are staying, instead of someone having to park way at the bottom and drag all their luggage, ski equipment etc. up the hill to where they're actually staying because someone else is parked in the spots in front of the condo. We'd love to come back with a group of friends for a ski trip next year! read more

No respect for guest trying to sleep !! I lay awake at 2:26am writing this review completely unable to sleep. This place is not for peace and quiet. People have been partying all night long and we have called the front desk multiple times but after security leaves , they just keep partying. This is what I would expect in Las Vegas not in a resort in a beautiful national park. It's a shame because this resort is gorgeous and the pool is amazing. This is a great place to stay! We came here to go snowboarding at Sunshine the next morning, and it was really close. It was also close enough to downtown. You need a car to get there but it was still convenient for sure. We stayed in a three floor cabin. Two bedrooms and one bath downstairs. A full kitchen, living room on the main floor. And a king size bed, with bathroom loft on the third floor. There were enough TVs everywhere as well. It was just really cozy, clean, and comfortable. Definitely didn't feel like I was staying at some hotel at all. We made ourselves at home immediately. The garage is a few steps away so it was close enough that we didn't need to trek out into the cold for too long. read more

Suites with great views, good price and best hot tub in town. We chose the hotel for its price, proximity to Banff, ability to comfortably sleep 3-4 teenagers per suite and the fabulous views. The hot tub and sauna were the best I've experienced. Attractive in a natural setting overlooking incredible mountains. Outdoor grills were a big plus to cook for all 8 of us as the kitchens in our room were small. In warmer months the picnic tables would be great too. Lobby very attractive with huge stone fireplace. The rooms and carpet need updating, but for price, location and other amenities it balanced out. Having a car is ideal but buses and taxis are plentiful if you want to go car-less. You need to take public bus (runs) every 40 minutes or taxi to town, in order to pickup ski shuttle to one of 3 ski resorts. There was 1/2 hour wait for shuttle to lake Louise. It's about 1.5km to walk downhill to town. Shout out to Nadine at reception who patiently helped us constantly! read more

Very very pleased with my stay at the Hidden Ridge Resort. My only regret is that we only stayed for one night. I could have definitely used some more time here. First off, the hot pool is just what you need after of long day of driving and hiking. The view is incredible and the water is the perfect temperature. There's something special about being in a nice warm pool with snow falling all around you. The biggest drawback of this hotel is that it is pretty far from downtown Banff (about a 30 minute walk) so definitely plan on driving or taking a cab. Luckily, bus service is complimentary if you show your hotel card so we were able to get a free ride at the beginning of the night. The rooms are excessively spacious if you aren't planning on taking advantage of them. Since we were only there for a night, we didn't really need a full kitchen and seating area. However, I will definitely keep this in mind next time we are here for an extended period. Finally, the service was excellent. They had no problem with us taking a final dip in the pool after checkout and were happy to help with our questions. I would definitely stay here again. read more

Me and my husband stayed a night last day but I was disappointed because the people about us does not consider that there are people downs stairs as they are stamping when walking (its pretty loud down stairs). We complained after 11pm as it is the policy they clip on the when you check in (quite time between 11pm to 7am). Even the staff told them so they continue to stamping on the floor and kids jumping after a quite time. Even at down time they continue seem they are not sleeping; aroind 2am I sudden wake up from my 10 minutes nap of sudden stamped and dragging seems a laugage. I did not have enough sleep. I was also disappointed to the staff as my husband notified them several time but seems they dis not say anything at all. I was expected the staff to deal it better when we complained such as asking the tenant upstairs to let their kids stop jumping and whoever walk like a mad giant to be quit a bit. The morning my husband went to reception and informed them personally but dis not even says anything. I don't have a complain about the place as it was beautiful. This resort is a gem. A friend of mine told me about it. He said it used to be a dive but they renovated. I am so glad we went. It's on Tunnel Mtn Road which overlooks the town of Banff. The resort is surrounded by the Rocky Mountains and trees. It's picturesque. My absolute favorite part of the resort are the 2 outdoor hot tubs that overlook Banff and the mountains. Talk about living! It was worth every penny and I will return to Alberta just for that. The rooms were really nice too. We had a fireplace, living room, dining area, kitchenette, and the windows in the bedroom looked out into woodsy area. We were able to wake up in the morning and go for a walk to see some wildlife. They don't have F&B but there are resorts within a 5 minute (gorgeous) walk that serve breakfast, etc. The hostel is next door and they also have a cafe. There is a bus that goes by that can take you into town and they give you a coupon booklet. They actually pay for your bus fare too. I highly recommend this resort to anyone traveling to Banff, especially to those who want to avoid the business of the main street. read more

The location of this place is pretty neat and is very close to town, but our stay wasn't the greatest even from the beginning. First, check in was at 4pm, but we showed up a little early. They told us our room wouldn't be done until 4pm, so we came back at 4pm. Room still wasn't ready, they told us to come back in 15min, so we did... they couldn't get a hold of the cleaning crew so they told us to come back in a little bit. The customer service was crap. We decided we didn't want to wait another 30min so we just left and found some place to hang out. We brought our dog with so that was cool they had some pet friendly rooms. They charge you $25 a night for having a pet but they tell you that the couches and beds are off limits to pets... good luck trying to teach your dog that all of a sudden he's not aloud. The rooms are pretty old and they don't have air conditioning. Our toilet didn't really flush so we told them about it and they said they would have their maintenance guy come look at it. He showed up an hour later... handed us a plunger... and told us if that didn't work they would have to call a plumber and have us move rooms. Never offering us money off or any kind of customer service. It wasn't the worst place we've stayed at but there are plenty of nicer, pet friendly places to stay at in Banff. We enjoyed another relaxing family getaway to Banff/Lake Louise AB last September, thanks in large part to the wonderful accommodations at the Hidden Ridge Resort. It is perfectly situated for day trips to Lake Louise and with free PT access to downtown Banff, you couldn't ask for a better home base. We made use of the outdoor barbecue and the kids loved the bikes available for rent. A great experience overall. read more

This place is in a pretty good location. It is slightly outside the town of beer so you get more of an outdoorsy feeling and less of a city vibe. However, I did not know that they did not have indoor AC. So if you are traveling and hoping to have AC in your room this is not the place for you. We went over Victoria Day weekend.There were a lot of young people there in between the age of 25 to 35. When we arrived the pool was packed and a lot of people were outside drinking and having fun. The front desk was very helpful and got us checked in very quickly. I would probably stay here again if in the area. read more

Not worth the money! We stayed here two nights (Wednesday & Thursday). It was a one bedroom with a loft bedroom. Positives: Hot tub & heated pool has a lovely view. Having a fireplace is nice, close driving distance to downtown Banff, beautiful hanging flowers around the property, staff seemed friendly. Cons: Bed linens were scratchy. The duvet cover was as pictured above. Looked like something from the 1970's. The shower had mold in the ceiling. Couch in the living room was really uncomfortable. I stayed here recently and had a great time. The duplex we were staying in was nothing short of a miniature home. It had 3 bedrooms, 5 beds, 2 bathrooms, a kitchen, 5 flat screen TV's, a basement, a loft area, a wii and I am sure I'm missing some stuff. They also have 2 hot pools, one is a bit cooler than the other and a sauna and they overlook the mountains. It is a great view and great place to relax. Everyone staying at the resort is friendly and the people working their are even friendlier. If you are planning a trip to Banff this is a great place to stay and it is only minutes away from downtown. It is perfect for a group of people. read more

We reserved a suite with a private jacuzzi tub on the balcony and it was AWESOME. The tub was huge and could fit 4 people, but was perfect for the two of us to stretch out and watch the sunrise. The temperature was lovely and stayed hot no matter how long we were in there. It feels very private as you need to go outdoors to get to your room. Stunning view, huge room with full kitchen & wood burning fireplace and they allowed us to bring our dog which was so fantastic. The kitchen was well equipped and we made dinner and sat out on our huge balcony facing the mountains. The front desk has DVDs for rent, which is so convenient! When we tried to start ours, the breaker blew but someone came right up to fix it, and was repaired within 10 minutes or so. The appearance of the room could be updated (new linens, furniture, better toiletries) but overall this is now my favourite hotel in the mountains and I can't wait to rebook. read more

The first time we stayed here in 2013, we had an amazing time. Our two dogs got beautiful fresh beds, rope toys and bowls. The room was so cute and cozy. We met some cool people in the hot tub/sauna area. Overall it was a 10/10. Our stay in 2015 was the opposite. We arrived to a room with a plunger on the stairs for starters (gross). Then we got into the room to discover it was in need of some repair. The ceiling is peeling, the patio doors barely opened until we wrenched on them and the fire place doors didn't stay closed. We brought our dogs again and I swear they gave us the same dog bed from two years ago and it REEKED of urine (and we only got one). We asked for new beds and they came sprayed down with chemicals and the poor dogs still smell horrible after sleeping on them. I have to get them bathed now. The worst part was the constant stream of trains all night long. I barely slept. I do not remember hearing trains last time at all or being disturbed by them at other hotels I've stayed in. Maybe it's because of our end unit? Oh and in the morning, whoever close to us cooked breakfast... it made our whole unit stink of bacon/ grease. It was actually in my clothing when we left. We left early because it was so smelly and we couldn't wait to go. I always find the staff very friendly and accommodating at least but it doesn't make up for all the negatives. Next time we're in Banff, we'll go back to The Fox. It's much cleaner and updated. read more

Stayed here last Christmas for 4 nights, have absolutely nothing bad to say about the resort. Loved every minute of being here, the outdoor pool is fantastic. The accommodation itself is perfect, there were 6 adults and a baby and we had ample room and we even cooked Christmas dinner. The staff were more than accommodating bringing us extra oven dishes and made our Christmas even more special by giving us a Christmas tree for the apartment. We plan to stay here for Christmas 2018 when we have more family visiting. read more

Stayed here with a couple girlfriends for a yearly trip we do. Not the fanciest place to stay, a bit run down. Room took long to warm up when we got there in the winter. . Wood burning fire place, had a little kitchen. The only reason we decided on this place was because wanted to Check out the hot tub, it was beautiful and lots of fun. A bit of a walk to town so probably wouldn't stay here again in winter, though they do have a shuttle bus that comes every hour I think it was. This was actually one of the more expensive places when booking so I had higher hopes for it. Probably wouldn't return. read more

We ended up staying in a lower level 1 bedroom unit which was like a dark, smokey, filthy dungeon. First thing we noticed upon entering was the cobwebs lingering on the walls and ceiling. We immediately closed the flue on the fireplace since there was a lingering smog in the room due to lack of ventilation. Our clothes had a smell on them although we did laundry in their facility and have had to rewash everything. The sheets on the bed were ripped in multiple locations and the towels were in desperate need of being replaced. Our first night, the couple above us had an altercation which we had to call the front desk on which led to them leaving around midnight - talk about our evening being ruined. The second night we could hear everything above us to include them urinating in the toilet. The hot tub was crowded and you could barely get into it and parking was impossible to find near our room. The only decent part of the stay was the front desk workers were extremely kind. I would never stay here again. read more

Short version: do not stay here. This is easily the worst "resort" I've stayed in during my years of travels. Long version: it started poorly right off the bat when the room we had reserved was not available for us and we got switched to the other side of the property. Relatively minor inconvenience. However, my friend who took one of the downstairs rooms woke up the next morning to liquid dripping on his face from the ceiling. Upon further inspection this has clearly been a problem they have never addressed and the ceiling was actually bowing downward and covered in yellow and black stains. Turns out the upstairs bathroom toilet leaks every time you flush it, so now you know what was dripping onto his face. We alerted the front desk staff at 8am that day, went skiing and returned around 4:30pm. Not only had nothing been done, but the maintenance team was never alerted to the problem in the first place. We were told they would not be able to fix it until we checked out. Ok? Their solution was to get my friend a place of his own across the resort. So instead of getting a new place for all of us, they instead make the call to split our group up. We all flew into Banff from every corner of the US and now we can't all stay together. What if we had been a family? Unreal. If only that was it...our fireplace glass door fell off on it's own, thankfully it didn't shatter. The chimney hasn't been cleaned in decades and as a result the house smelled like a bonfire all weekend after we started a fire in the fireplace, since the flue would barely open. The couch in a four bedroom apartment was a beat up love seat, so half of us had to sit around the dining room table instead, which is not exactly comfortable when you just want to relax at the end of the day. The downstairs toilet clogged up without us doing anything, leaving us without a usable toilet for a day since the upstairs one leaks and we had to shut off the water. The hot tub is communal and doesn't allow alcoholic beverages. They only allow water, coffee, and tea and it must be in a resort approved cup. Speaking of that, I contracted pink eye from the hot tub, and a friend staying in another apartment with his family got a nasty rash from it as well. The hot tub was cramped with 20+ people each evening and they have a second tub of similar size but it's at a much lower temperature and is unbearable in the winter. My friend who brought his family up had his own problems with their unit. Their fridge was placed the carpet since the kitchen was so small. The door wouldn't shut ever so they had to put ski boots in front of it to secure it. Their stove broke on day one and rendered it unusable. There was an electrical short that caused their phone cord to melt. The customer service is abysmal here and the rooms are a disgrace. They refused to refund a dime or find us suitable accommodations after all of this. Banff is gorgeous and we want to come back in the summer in the near future. If we do, we will NEVER stay here, nor will I ever recommend it to anyone else. Stay here at your own risk. read more

The resort is beautiful, off the beaten path and on gorgeous grounds. There were a ton of families there when we stayed and I can see why. They have great offerings for rentals with lots of space. The grounds are magnificent and the pool is really nice. It is on a hill that overlooks Banff. They have grills for public use. They have garage parking which would be great for the winter. It is about a 20 minute (uphill) walk from town. There is a store nearby though for provisions. And I loved the free wifi!! The only thing I wasn't crazy about was the room decor. It was fine, but it was certainly not the decor I am used to paying for in a $250 a night room. And the mosquito situation was horrible. The screens on the windows didn't sit tight so there were constantly large mosquitoes getting into the room. read more

We booked in January for our October honeymoon. We specifically requested one of the middle(not end)units out of the 4 king hot tub rooms. At the time of our booking, all 4 rooms were available the week we reserved. Unfortunately, however, when we arrived, we were told that neither of the middle rooms were available, only the 2 end units. How can this be when we were the first to book? At the price point of this room $550/night, I would expect they could afford king fitted sheets or flat ones that actually cover the mattress and topper. The sheets provided in our suite didn't cover the raw mattress even immediately after the cleaning crew had made the bed. And the duvet/bed cover was so heavy and misshapen that it never stayed on the bed. Our hotel in Calgary was a Hilton Garden - only $113/night - and their sheets actually covered the whole mattress and the duvet was functional and inviting - imagine that! The maintenance of the unit left a lot to be desired. The fireplace doors nearly fell off in our hands, the hot tub had a ring around at the water level and lots of interior markings and the bathroom mirrors had pealing paint. The room was not stocked with paper towels in the kitchen - but we had 4 boxes of facial tissues, LOL. The employees were friendly and helpful, no complaints there. The view was lovely and the pictures of the property matched what we had seen online. Unfortunately, we will not stay here again, nor will we recommend anyone else stay given the lack of commitment to room requests even when booked 10 months out as well as the other issues described above. read more

The Hidden Ridge Resort was great resort to stay at during the June-July holidays! When we booked we were planning to be staying in a small room with only 2 double beds for the 4 of us! Which was pretty bad since I had to sleep next to my sister who takes up 90% of the bed, snores and sleep punches! But when we arrived at the resort the receptionist offered us an upgrade to a bigger room for $100 extra. We excepted the offer and went to our cabin / room which was nicely placed on the edge of the grounds which was nice to have a little area for ourselves. We went inside to see that we had been ungraded to a 2-story cabin which had a nice TV and an upstairs with a double bed for both me and my sister (thank the lord)! Finally I had a bed to myself (which I hadn't had for almost 4 weeks) The offer was greatly appreciated! The next morning I went outside to see these cute little squirrels things which I later found out are called marmots! Apparently they are known as vermin but I disagree! They were very cute and didn't disturb us at all! The resort also had a lovely spa over looking an amazing view! Great location! Only a few minutes away from a horse ranch and the village! I would highly recommend staying here and visiting the horse ranch and going for a ride around the area! read more

What a great place to get-away! The condos are great (if a little bit low on the lighting), loved having our own kitchen and space. They are pretty quiet, too, which is nice when traveling with kids. I will say that the Hidden Ridge has some nice things about it. Each room has a woodburning fireplace and our group had about 12 rooms booked for an annual trip that we take to Banff, so we had some fun spontaneous fireside chats and decided on wine and cheese, and ordering pizza rather then heading downtown to Banff Avenue. The major problem withe the Hidden Ridge was the staff there, who really messed up on our groups reservation. We checked in at the front desk for one of our twleve rooms, were given our key cards, and got comfortable with a fire and unpacking. About two hours later, some drunk guy attending a convention strolled into our room asking us why we had the deadbolt on the downstairs door. We chatted with our new unexpected guest, sent him back to the front desk after a friendly chat, and called the front desk to let them know that some Dude just walked in with keys to our room. About twenty minutes later the "manager" dropped by, told us they had given us the wrong room, we need to pack up and relocate to another room. Are you kidding? The manager then promised to "do something for us" but never delivered on this promise. The service was brutal. The next time a drunk walks into my room, with his set of keys issued by the hotel management, while I'm bedding my wife on the sofa by the fire, I'm not going to be as polite as we were. This place was amazing!! Great location, a little off the main road, nice and private surrounded by trees and the mountains. It's a great value for what you get and the hot tub is wonderful! The kitchenette was a great size too. Will for sure be coming back here! read more

Hidden Ridge resort was great. It's pet friendly and great view of the mountain from our room (the loft). We had one of the three level suites with three bedrooms (one being a loft). Shower pressure was really good. Only issue was parking, limited actual parking spots so ended up having to park on the side road. Wasn't a major issue, but parking tends to be an issue with Banff in general. Didn't realize there was underground parking, not sure who that was for. Overall great stay, great suites and amazing views. read more

Had a great time staying here. The units are spacious, clean and private. Loved the views from the outdoor hot tub! Staff were very friendly. We booked Spa treatments, which were also great, although they weren't at the same place. read more

We stayed in a one room queen bed and loft with two queens bed cabin with kitchenette. We was assigned to an upper unit next to the trail and it was beautiful. Balcony has view of the mountains. It has better view than the Rimrock hotel we stayed two years ago. It was quiet and we only hear a train ran by around 7 pm once. read more

I had booked a room in mid-November, for January 9th, through Expedia for Banff Hidden Ridge Resort. The itinerary stated I had until January 6th to cancel. The reason for booking this night away was because I had been diagnosed with skin cancer and was facing major surgery on January 20th. My surgery was bumped up to December 3rd, and I called Hidden Ridge on I believe, December 7th to cancel my booking for January 9th as I would not be recovered enough to enjoy my trip or any of the amenities offered. I was told my cancellation could be taken care of, and I never gave it another thought- instead focusing my attention to recovering. To my shock and dismay, I received a voicemail message from Hidden Ridge yesterday, January 10th- informing me I had missed my stay and they would be charging me the full night's stay, of $221.26. I called them back within half an hour of missing their call, and explained my situation to the woman who answered the phone. She was very rude and insisted that I have to contact Expedia, only reservations made through Expedia can be cancelled through Expedia, and that I could not possibly have called Hidden Ridge to cancel the reservation and basically that I was lying. I broke down into tears; she just kept repeating the same thing, as if saying it slower and louder would change anything. I asked to speak to a manager, but was told one was not available. I was not given a time to call back when one might be available, nor did the person I spoke with offer to take my name and number so a manager might call me back. Eventually, I just hung up. I have checked Expedia rules and regulations on cancellations, and NO WHERE does it say that I have to cancel my reservation through them. I feel that I have been ROBBED and degraded; this has been a terrible and extremely upsetting experience. I am disputing the charge with Visa, as well as lodging a complaint with Expedia. read more

We love the suites with the hot tub on the deck, have been back about 5 times but each time it seems to get worse and worse. This last visit a few weeks ago will be our last. Clearly the maid cleaned for about 2 mins cause the living room wasn't vacuumed, was an XL pizza box in the corner of the hot tub with crusts and cigarette butts surrounding the hot tub. Water was disgusting (you only rent this room for the hot tub on the deck) and the bedding smelt like it hadn't been washed in months. Disgusting. When I brought this to the attention of the front desk girl "Maiko" she suddenly pretended to not know English very well, with a slight smirk on her face. Since she was an absolute disappointment I decided to call the general manager about this, left him a few messages and no response what so ever. Super professional. Ya right. If you wanna spend $500 a night to stay somewhere sweet, I suggest you go somewhere else. read more

This "resort" property is a VERY expensive budget hotel level establishment. The rooms were shabby, dated, essentially undecorated, and dark. Our first floor "deluxe" room was above a parking garage and sunk into a hillside so that the view from the bedroom window was the underside of a picnic table at the adjoining campground! I don't know where these other folks stayed to get a view of mountains from their rooms, but walking around the place gave the impression of a poorly planned apartment complex with views into each other's patios and not much else. We stayed 2 nights and spent almost $700 for the pleasure. Thankfully the area outside of Banff is overflowing with outdoor opportunities and we spent little time at this place other than to sleep. Good thing too, because the "spa" area is so small that it becomes overcrowded after 2 to 3 families take it over. What can I say--we spent 14 nights total on this trip, stayed at 7 different places between Flathead Lake and Jasper, and this was the most expensive place we stayed at and the only severe disappointment. read more
