Stayed here for a business trip with two other colleagues in late October 2025 for a conference. The staff were excellent and helped us immensely, going above and beyond with a specific request from our org for expense/billing purposes. The lodge was super well located for us - steps to most of the restaurants and other places we visited during our stay. My room was clean and comfortable but could use some updating/refreshing but had a rustic charm. The prices were fair for the stay. The included breakfast was decent (some hot items, fruits, pastries, cereals) although I only went once to eat there during my stay. It was a bit noisy one of the nights we stayed but I brought ear plugs so was all set with those. Overall, I felt safe and secure during my visit. Appreciated the lemon water and small snacks in the lobby. Thanks again to the staff for a great stay during my first time in Banff! read more

Stayed here for four days while visiting Banff. This location is very central and includes parking for $12/night for guests. The spaces are pretty tight but we were able to park our Ford Escape. Parking is located in a garage around the corner. There is a mini fridge in the room but no microwave. We had a jacuzzi in our room which was really nice but slow to fill; note that only bath salts are allowed (which is provided). Daily housekeeping was included. There is a TV and the room was spacious. Beds were comfortable and the thermostat worked. There's a coffee machine with coffee and tea provided. Breakfast is free and includes hot items like frittatas as well as standard items like cereals and bagels. There's a toaster there. A microwave is also available down there. There is one elevator in the hotel but note that if your room is in the 100s, you'll need to take stairs. read more

The perfect location for your Banff stay! Located just off the Main Street in town, Brewster's is close to everything! Even with being in the center of it all, the noise from the street doesn't make its way in, and the hotel and rooms are quiet. We stayed in a standard queen room, beds were comfortable and the sheets were nice and soft - not stiff or scratchy at all. Our room had a table with two chairs, a separate closet area, a coffee maker, a safe, and a courtyard view. The shower was nice and large and the water got very hot! There was a continental breakfast that included pastries, bagels, fruit, oatmeal, sausages Pattie's, yogurt, and hard boiled eggs. Not the most lavish breakfast, but we were able to fill ourselves up two of the mornings before our early hikes. They also had cookies available at the check in desk, they seemed to be stocked most of the day. As with most other places in town the hotel is not cheap, but by staying here we were able to visit Banff without a car. There are multiple roam transit bus stops located a short walk away, with the main hub being about a 9 minute walk. The hotel was also extremely responsive, I had emailed them with some questions couple times before our visit and received a response within minutes, no matter the time of day! One big recommendation if you do stay here is to bring an eye mask! The doors let quite a bit of light in from the hallways, so the rooms don't seem to get fully dark. Luckily I had mine with me, so this didn't affect me too much, but it was enough light that we ended up putting a towel at the door to block some of it. read more

Bottom line first: I would never stay at this property again, unless absolutely desperate for lodging. The front desk staff at this hotel were friendly, but generally indifferent to problems reported by their guests. The breakfast buffet was better than those offered by most hotels, but good luck locating it inside of the hotel. (Seriously, it's quite an adventure of hunting/searching and walking to find it.) Our room was clean. Wifi worked well, as did the television (although it has among the smallest number of available channels of any place I've stayed since the early 1980s). Our room was also very warm. Outside temperatures during our stay ranged from 68-72 degrees; but our room was 75-80 degrees. The hotel offers no air conditioning, except in the hallways. When we reported the uncomfortable conditions to the desk staff, they made two suggestions. #1: Leave our room door open to allow the cooler air in. Have they ever heard of such a thing as privacy OR such a thing as safety concerns?! #2: Open the window. The problem with #2 is that the room opened to a back alley in which people were yelling all day and all night long. With the window closed, it was quiet; with the window open, it was far from quiet. The hotel is also VERY expensive, and offers nothing whatsoever for the money. No microwave in the rooms. No mini-fridges either. The property charges for parking above/beyond the room rate. And most insulting of all, they also charge a $14 "property fee" in addition to the room rate. So what you think your room rate is going to be is, in fact, less than what they actually charge. For that property fee, guests get nothing. read more

The only reason this place is getting 2 stars is because of the location. We visited here in the summer for a wedding, and there was NO air conditioning! Our room was so hot we could hardly sleep and when I called the front desk they offered to bring us a small fan, which was no help. Also, the lamp was broken and our TV did not work. Hands down the best stay I've ever had. I booked the king bed loft room. From the website photos I knew it would be a cool room, but it actually exceeded my expectations. I nearly cried when I walked in! I had a large balcony that overlooked Bear St and it was amazing. A cute living room and loft bedroom. The place was so charming and the bathroom was STOCKED with things (including make up wipes, q tips etc). I came during a very hot week and was expecting my room to be hot obviously considering there is no AC but it wasn't that bad. I left the window and balcony doors open when I was inside, and closed all curtains when I was gone for the day. The included delivery breakfast is a nice touch. I honestly couldn't get enough of my room during my solo vacation that I spent so much time there (I've lived in Banff before so I am very familiar with it.) The space you get for the price is extremely worth it and I'll absolutely be coming back here the next time I come out west. read more

So many hotels are cookie-cutter, soul-less, boring, staffed with automatons who care not a whit about you. Brewster's Mountain Lodge, in downtown Banff, is a refreshing change. Rooms: we stayed in two of them during our trip, and both were clean, bright, and architecturally interesting. One was a sprawling layout, the other a duplex. The whole place is done up in a ski chalet log cabin style, with a huge fireplace in the lobby. Amenities: tasty in-room coffee, huge bathroom, working wi-fi. The essentials. Neighborhood: so convenient to restaurants and shops beyond measure. Not having to deal with a car was an added pleasure. There's a parking lot underground. Staff: pleasant, helpful, knowledgable. Thank you, staff. The Soviet Workers Party would be proud of the breakfast room, the only discordant note: it has all the carbs, but no charm at all. read more

Stayed here mid-October and we literally could not have picked a more perfect place. The hotel is one block off the best part of the main road, which is exactly where you want to be. We booked a loft, which was only about $20 more... you get an upstairs, and more importantly a patio that overlooks the street below. Highly recommend... except I believe the other reviews that say the upstairs gets really hot in the summer. We just left the patio door open at night and turned on the fans. The front desk was very helpful, and parking was provided ($5/day if you're not a VIP). If we come back, we'll stay here again. read more

I spent the weekend at Brewster's Mountain Lodge after deciding that we wanted a little more time in Banff this weekend. What I loved about Brewster's Mountain Lodge: - The girl at the concierge desk & her AWESOME accent - Instead of having a candy bowl at the front desk, they have a basket of delicious cookies! - The ENORMOUS fireplace in the lobby - The beautiful wood that all the furniture and railings are made out of - The fact that it is across the street from my favourite restaurant in Banff- Magpie & Stump - The fact that there is a FREE Parkade located around the corner - The pillows are hella comfortable - Free WIFI in all the rooms - The pricing is extremely reasonable ($120/night for 2 queen sized beds on a Saturday night, AND continental breakfast is included!) -It's located RIGHT off the strip! It's literally a one minute walk to get to Banff Ave! What I didn't love about Brewster's Mountain Lodge: - Their parkade! What's the point in having a parkade if it only has a few stalls in it? Their parkade was a nightmare and you need a room key to get in, so when we first pulled up to the hotel to check in, there wasn't ANYWHERE to park. Plus their parkade works on a 'first come, first serve' basis. In my opinion, if you're paying to sleep there, you should have a place to park there! - The colour of the carpet was ridiculously tacky (reddy-pink) - The continental breakfast was not appealing AT ALL. We ended up just having coffee/tea and then went and ate somewhere else - There were two occasions in the middle of the night where random people came and had long-winded conversations RIGHT OUTSIDE OUR DOOR. They were lucky that my bed was so comfy, otherwise I would have had no problem getting out of it and telling them where to go. All in all, I enjoyed staying at the Brewster's Mountain Lodge. There are far more things that I liked about it as oppose to didn't like about it, and you really can't get a more central location! read more

First time here, for a romantic first-time getaway with my sweetheart, who had stayed here years ago. Standard accomodations looked fine, but I upgraded to a loft King Suite (with Romance Package). The loft King Suites, which have a sitting area with upstairs loft bed - ours was #318 - have a decent-sized walk-out deck, but no chairs other than the indoor 'desk chairs' that you'd need to drag out yourself. A nice view of the mountaintops on the south & west sides, but the view down on the street isn't much to look at. The bathroom had a Jacuzzi tub/shower, but the Jacuzzi was sized for one, not for two (I'd hoped the Romance Package would include a room with a tub for two!). The bathroom itself was OK in size, but there was unused space under the stairs in the main room, that could have renovations done to expand the bathroom space - recommend the hotel look into that! The sitting area was spacious; nice leather couch, but the (quite small) TV was in the armoire on the side; not a good setup for evening viewing (of course, with the Romance Package, TV wasn't foremost in the plans!). The loft houses the King bed - but the loft itself was realistically too small for a King; a Queen would be OK, but there's not a lot of room on either side of the bed to stand/change clothes. Still, enough space to use simply for sleeping (etc...). A bigger TV was on the small chest of drawers there. A huge window (2-stories) let nice light in (ours was a south-facing room) in the morning. The lobby has a great log-cabin ambience with a roaring fire (even in mid-April). I can only imagine the winter ski set would love the suites during high ski season. *Skis/boards aren't allowed in the rooms; you'll need to leave them in lockers. We didn't check out the sauna room. A continental breakfast is provided in "The Bird's Nest" - an oddly-named kitchenette on the main floor (you need to go to the 2nd floor to walk downstairs to get there... ???) - basic cafeteria-style setup & food, certainly far from a nice, quiet café like the Wild Flour Bakery across the street (recommended for more intimate morning coffee & pastries). The ambience is great; dark hallways are comfy to walk down, but navigating the hotel is tricky; jerky, dead-end hallways, insufficient signage & directions, various ups & downs on ramped floors or steps. You can get lost & walk all the way around the circumference, while trying to find that quick shortcut through the centre... it's not a huge place, but it's confusing. Just one elevator for the 3 floors & basement parking. Parking is available for $5/night; however, the garage is small (a large truck or van would definitely have trouble there), and it's first-come, first-served, so we wound up finding no space (but got the parking charge dropped). On-street parking was fortunately available right beside the hotel, with time limits only starting at 8am. Situated just off the main street of downtown Banff, it's a 5-minute drive (or a healthy, half-hour walk) to the Upper Hot Springs, and all the touristy shopping is just one block away. Several high-end restaurants are within a couple of minutes' walk. The 'Romance Package' could be upgraded a lot (or a little) - to have something on offer is nice, but I'd recommend the hotel consider a 3-tiered package of varying opions. This basic package was not explicitly costed out; the room & package were $227 total (that's Canadian dollars, for you US readers - at this time, approx. $185 USD - actually reasonable for downtown Banff, but this is not a high-season time). It included a bottle of champagne (I substituted wine), some chocolates, candles & a gift bag of soaps & bath salts for my sweetie. Overall; I would definitely return; and would do the King Suite again. read more

I chose this hotel primarily for its prime location in the heart of Banff, and unfortunately that is all it really had going for it. The elevator was down for "maintenance", yet we never saw anyone working on it the entire 3.5 days we were there. Our room was on the 2nd level, so we had to take all our bags up a fairly narrow set of stairs. Struggling a bit, it wasn't until I was about 3 stairs from the top that the staff at the front desk shouted up to ask whether I needed any help. A little too late at that point. The room was very basic and architecturally a little strange. We seemed to be in one of the few rooms that didn't have a balcony. There were no fridges in the room, but we called down to the front desk and they had one brought to our room within minutes, at no extra charge. The only problem is that there was no temperature control on/in the fridge and everything we had froze! Continental breakfast was included in the room rate, and although it was fairly basic, it was perfect for our needs. A bagel, hard boiled egg, and some fruit (and most definitely coffee) and I was good to go for the day! There is heated underground parking available for an extra $5.25 per day, but the spots are extremely limited. We parked down there upon our arrival the first day and kept it down there all weekend. As I mentioned earlier, the location of this hotel is VERY GOOD, so we were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go. I just don't think this place has quite enough going for it for the price paid, so I don't think I would stay here again. read more

This is my second stay at Brewster's. This trip we brought the whole family. After a long day at Nakiska the hot tub and sauna were a nice treat. The beds are super comfy! We always enjoy a FREE breakfast. No eggs. But toast, bagels and pastries round out the cereal, fruit and yogurt. Can't complain. It was all fresh and delicious. Our rooms, 209 & 211 back onto a small courtyard which was nice. Very quiet at night. Warm and friendly reception. We will stay again and again when we visit Banff. read more

Overall I really did not enjoy my stay here. We have been put in one of the side rooms that is EXTREMELY hot. The little window and small fan did nothing to cool the room down. Parties are thrown in the alley that partly backs the lodge and surrounding restaurants and are extremely rowdy. It reeks of smoke and alcohol. Even with the windows closed you can here them clear as day. I have read reviews claiming the same thing about the constant party in the alley. From two years ago. I am assuming that they had stayed in the same room as we did. read more

AVOID in the Summer! None of the rooms have AC (but the lobby and hallways do!?!). What should have been a nice hotel in a great location for $250 a night was worse than sleeping in your car because of the heat and lack of ventilation. If you go to Banff, this is the place to be if you want to be downtown. They have parking (for a reasonable fee); there is also a public ramp across the street that you can park in for up to 12 hours at a time for free. It is near everything downtown. I have stayed here four times over the years. The complimentary breakfast is not great--cereal, toast and fruit but it is complimentary. People don't seem to know about the great whirlpool, sauna and exercise room that they have available to guests--there are towels in there too. A great cozy place to stay when in Banff. The other review is a little odd here--come on--this is a old timey lodge (but modern) and the decorations are appropriate-probably Cree design. The furniture is all carve wood motiff. read more

Stairs everywhere. Worst lighting ever for a bathroom and the room was VERY dark all day, my spa tub jets were filthy (like they had not ever been flushed) and all the staff said was oh! Vent outside my room sounded like a jet engine and every time I walked by I got blown away......no way to avoid it. Walls are very thin! I would not ever recommend this hotel unless you want to go cheap then you would get what you paid for. The only redeeming quality was that the staff was very nice. read more

We looked at a lot of the hotels on Banff Ave. before booking with the Brewster Mountain Lodge and were pleasantly surprised to find that the hotel is centrally located. Since we were traveling in Banff without the car, this worked out well for us. Agree with other reviews that the corridors seems awfully long and the walls are thin. I would add that our room was a little small and the breakfast could be improved a little, but for the price, I thought this hotel was great. There was someone at the front desk 24/7. They delivered a humidifier when we asked for it. Ski lockers were conveniently located off the lobby. Free shuttle to the resort a short walk away. Everything was pretty turn-key which is what we were looking for. Our room was clean, nothing smelled of smoke, and it was relatively quiet. We were there in the winter, however. It sounds like summer is a zoo all over Banff. read more

The first room was a loft king. With a "jetted" tub. Not big enough for even one person. Not very happy about the room So my wife and I had to upgrade. Got the boss's suite. This was a nice room. But again it had its down falls. Dirty sheets and pillow cases and the tub was dirty. Second day our key cards didn't work in the doors. Inconvenient if you ask me. Had a handful of stuff to bring into the room and we couldn't get in. Overall experience is I probably wouldn't stay there again. Ohhhhh and the continental breakfast was absolutely atrocious. CHRONIC PROBLEMS WITH THIS HOTEL. The first time we stayed here, the place was great. We had a nice, standard room facing the street. We liked it so much we came back a week later. This time we got put in one of the extremely hot and stuffy rooms. I'm talking unbearably hot. It was cool outside, but the tiny window and sad fan could not begin to put a dent in the heat. To make matters worse, the alley had a blinding bright light that flooded our room. The alley also serves as a late night party zone (the back door to Funday Sunday). All these problems were clearly nothing new to the staff. Yelp reviews from a year ago mention the same issues. Too bad because the place is clean and centrally located. The morning staff were clearly used to the grumbling from unsatisfied customers who got no sleep. Our whole wing of the hotel seemed haggard in the morning, and we heard other complaining about the noise and unbearable heat. I can't imagine what this place would be like in mid summer. The staff did mention that a work order had been put in, but it was clear by the look on her face that she knew they would never fix the problem. On the up side, my iPhone Yelp app had a $99 coupon for Sunday through Thursday, so it was a relatively inexpensive bad night's sleep. The location can't be beat for shopping and nice restaurants. A side note: This hotel would be great for the ultimate game of tag. There are staircases, elevators, and hallways zig zagging everywhere, like a crazy board game from your childhood. To find the ironically named Bird's Nest breakfast room, one has to literally go up to go down. Take a map. Leave a trail of breadcrumbs. You will find it eventually, only to be disappointed by the limited, sweet, bready offerings. Here is what I propose: If you have a bad night here, let your kids run wild the next morning. Start a hotel-wide game of tag. Tell them you are not settling down until they fix the heat and noise issues. Pass this on to all the guests. You may not get any sleep, but at least you will have fun. read more

Staff were friendly , easy access the main road. Breakfast was good but nothing special. Room was clean but was very warm, had a stifling , mouldy smell, no air condition!! To cool down had to open a window and used a small noisy fun but , the noise from cars and construction kept us up most of the night. Mattresses were so hard, it was like sleeping on the ground. Parking was narrow only convenient for small cars will never stay here again, the place is overpriced for the quality of the room. read more

I recently stayed at Brewster's Mountain Lodge for one night while traveling through the mountains. The hotel was clean and the staff was friendly but we were put in a room that backed onto an alley where there were several restaurants. Since it was hot out while we there and the hotel has no air conditioning, we had the window open to allow for air flow. There were people partying and smoking in the alley all night and even when we closed the window we could still hear the noise. Needless to say, we didn't get any sleep and were not pleased that we spent $200 for a horrible night. The breakfast was very basic and in a small room located in the basement. When we went down at approximately 9am there weren't any clean dishes out and half the food dishes were empty. It was also very crowded and difficult to prepare what you wanted to eat in such a small area. Overall, I was very disappointed. read more
