If you are looking for a view while having a coffee or an evening meal this is the spot. Very likely the best view in Banff. All the pics are from or near the bistro. Although we didn't have an evening meal at the bistro we did have breakfast and I would suggest it was one of the best meals ever had. We did enjoy an evening beverage at the bistro each evening of our stay. Again, the view spectacular. The service, great. General pros and cons: Pros: Front desk service, great. Shuttle service to/from downtown was a life saver. Hiking and biking amenities seemed good but we did not participate. Removed from downtown which made it a bit more cozy. We really did like this aspect of the hotel . Cons: a bit dated and in need of some upgrades. Our room was small. Okay for a couple of days but would suggest a room upgrade if staying more than a couple of nights. I like hotels to have some level of market where bottled water, snacks, etc., can be purchased. Juniper did have some juice drinks and protein'ish bars available yet my personal preference is for more options. All in all, a great place to stay, with top notch views and super service. I would certainly recommend you consider Juniper for your upcoming stay.

The best hotel in banff because of the amazing views. I love this locally owned boutique hotel at the base of norquay mountain. Specifically because it's so small that it feels personable. The rooms are exceptionally clean and modern. And I just love the views you get fro. The bed I just love waking up to that beautiful sunrise without even getting out of bed! The balcony is perfect for delicious breakfasts and coffee I the mountain air with the best views of Banff town and lake vermillion. Also. You MUST order the salmon platter for breakfast. It's literally the best breakfast I have ever had in a hotel!!!

Love the location and beautiful view!

It can be challenging trying to find a place to stay in Banff, especially if you've never been before. My hubby & I were lucky to return for our 2nd visit, and after hours of research over weeks between hotels and vacation rentals, I ultimately chose The Juniper Hotel and it was wonderful! The location can't be beat as it's perched up high to offer amazing views of Banff. As others have said, it's not in the city center, but even if you don't have a car, it's a short walk away (about 20-30 min) of about 1.3 mi (2.1 km). We had a rental car, so we didn't mind driving into town or walking, and it was always so nice to come back to the peace and quiet (and breathtaking views!) away from the bustling town. Check in/out were easy, and the front desk staff were always very nice and friendly! Our room had an incredible view and a little outdoor patio area, and we found it to be perfect for us with even enough space on one side of the bed to roll out a yoga mat and stretch, etc (we were in town for the Banff Marathon Weekend). The bed was comfortable, shower had plently of hot water and good water pressure, and though the bathroom is quite small, it was clean (more important) & sufficient. We had a mini fridge, coffee maker, tea, and were even able to borrow a regular plate, a bowl, and silverware from the restaurant on the property so we could properly enjoy some of our takeout food and make my pre-marathon oatmeal on race day! I honestly hope that we get to stay here again in the future, because we really enjoyed it! Thank you, Juniper Hotel!

We are so glad that we booked The Juniper for our stay in Banff. The location is about a mile from downtown Banff and provides a welcome respite from the crowds. The view from our window is magnificent and the Mt Norquay scenic drive a delight. The fare at the Juniper's Bistro is quite good. Although there is much to see and do in the area, all of our needs are met within this property! The staff have been very friendly and accommodating as well. I don't normally take the time to review a hotel but this one is something special.

This location is great. Right off of Hwy 1 and about a 5 min drive to the the city center. The view from the room is amazing. Waking up to the mountain view, having coffee on the patio attached to the room, is refreshing from the hectic city life in Dallas, TX. Hwy noise, not really audible. Bed is comfortable and the room is clean. It kinda has a cabin feel to it. My partner and I did stay for 2 different nights. We did stay a couple nights in Banff and then came back after a night in Japser. The 2nd room that we did get, we did notice that the floor was a bit unleveled and creaking. lol. But it was still nice and this 2nd room had a private balcony. Same great view of the mountain. What is nice about The Juniper Hotel is that it's not overly crowded. Driving out of the property, we did get to see some wildlife (deers and their fawn). They do offer a shuttle service to the city. I would have taken the shuttle if I had known that parking in the city would be challenge. Rental company gave me a full size truck. lol. I would stay here again, get away from the city and enjoy a quiet, peaceful evening with a nice view. Review is from our stay in Oct 2023

This was my family's first time at Banff and omg... driving here after 8PM in January is so scary! This is not related to Juniper hotel but small traveling advice for Banff visitors: TransCanada Hwy was pure dark with snow blowing everywhere. Heads up to anyone coming during January: have snow tires, have your google map ready, stay warm, and drive safe. The stop to buy the national park pass was closed already but you can always buy that online. Juniper Hotel is a private property so patrol is not allowed to check for cars there (the check-in guy told us that.) Service: Warmly welcomed when we stepped in. They occasionally have snacks available in the front as well. Check in was not difficult and when our airline lost our baggage, Juniper moved it into our room. We also used our coffee/ sugar a lot but housekeeping never refilled it for us. So each night, we had to call front desk to ask for me. It might have been better if the person brought it in a basket or bag since it was a lot to hold for him. But he usually ran back and forth to bring us everything. Thank you to the person that helped us though! Interior/ Exterior: Small but clean hotel. Really cozy/home vibe. There is no elevator here so if you live in the upper floors, be prepared to carry your luggage. Like other reviews mentioned, paying extra for the view is worth it. You see the sunrise from the mountain and the beautifully fresh snow everyday. The outdoor jacuzzi is worth going to. There wasn't much guest around the time we went so I always had the jacuzzi to myself. It's pretty fun to be seeing the snow while staying warm but again, be prepared to run back afterwards because it's so cold! Hahaha~ Adding on, there's a turn to get into the Juniper driveway but it's slightly hidden by the trees so be on a lookout for the correct turn. The hotel itself is located close to multiple sightseeing locations and not too far from downtown Banff. Bistro here is pretty delicious with good hospitality. Brunch is a great price but dinner is super expensive. Will be posting about the Juniper Bistro review soon! Overall, a great hotel that is close to markets, shops, and sight seeing locations. It's not a big hotel but they do provide the essential you'll need. Again, the view is beautiful from the scenery rooms to the view at the bistro. Enjoy your stay and thank you for reading!

When you first walk in the lobby check in area is next to the large sitting area with a big fireplace that is hot enough to warm you but not make the place uncomfortable. The rooms are very well maintained and so are the walkways, fitness center, sauna, jacuzzis (2 large ones) and pool. The restaurant that is nothing the hotel we didn't eat at, but I ordered and old fashioned and it was good and strong, but no black cherry, but that was fine. The sauna was so clean and it felt great to warm up more in the mornings and relax in the jacuzzis after a hike in the evenings. The jets were powerful and the views from that area overlook the the mountains and the gondola an Norquay. This hotel was great, only one thing really, the laundry room at 2 washers and 2 dryers which were of good quality, but one was down. We stayed here for 6 days and i thought that was a good amount of time without it becoming too day to day feeling. 5 stars because we had a great time there AND they provided loaner bear sprays for all of us. I don't know if they can do it for everyone, but that saves you at lease 35 bucks for each spray that you can't take back in the flight if you do t use (and don't check bags). That was an amazing food convenience.

I guess I'm not Canadian, and I got used to it, but having a bit more wind protection on the exterior walkways would have been nice - or warmer robes.... Not an issue in summer and not a huge deal in winter but worth knowing. 2) Restaurant isn't great. Mid level chain place. Much better options in town. Staff great loved the spacious rooms and ski lockers.

So he drove us into Banff NP. We stopped at Lake Louise, Johnston Canyon, Vermillion Lakes, the cascade falls, and then we began driving to the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel. What an absolutely beautiful hotel in one of Nature's most breathtaking masterpieces. The beautiful earth-toned cream colored hotel climbs from the lower mountain side and stands beautifully amongst the tall pines surrounding it. We made our way to the Vermillion Bar, where are post worked back in his college days, and were greeted by a super sweet server, Ayala, who lit up whenever she laughed and smiled with you. We enjoyed cocktails, beef, tartare, veggie Credit, charred, avocado, and a unique presentation of hot wings I've never had before - the actual wing that has two bones in it was pre-cut down the middle so you were served the 2 halves as their own individual wing. Great flavors and it was very unique and enjoyable. All of it was delicious and undeniably yummy, and fairly priced for such an elegant location. We were expecting a much higher price point and were delightfully surprised to see that even though it is a luxury location, it was not price gouging or ridiculously inflated that one often finds in so many other locations that are "elegant or nice". If you have the opportunity to treat yourself to a very beautiful sunset under the majestic Mount Rundle, and want to enjoy a modern setting in a historic landmark, this is absolutely a visit you must make while in Banff National Park. Thank you Ayala for treating us so well, and sharing your sweet Australian journey with us. Chris, David, Trisha, and Keith

They have a full bar with a nice selection. Delicious happy hour wine deals! I love their red wines. The food is really good here too. They have a really nice breakfast buffet and it's included with your room. Pancakes, eggs, sausage, yogurt, juices, pastries, and more. The bar serves snacks and other food throughout the day and evening. I really enjoyed their charcuterie board. So fresh and delicious. Our room/suite was very spacious. Two queen beds and a living room area with a sofa and fire place. The beds were pretty comfortable but not amazing. We had a microwave and refrigerator, and I loved the espresso machine. We also had a dining table. The bathroom had lovely shampoo, conditioner, and body wash from a local company. My only suggestion is that I wish we had more storage options to unpack our clothes. There were some hangers to hang a few items and there was 1 drawer in the nightstand. I wish we had a dresser. Excellent and friendly staff. I really enjoyed the vibe of this place. I would definitely stay here again.

Canoe Hotel and Suites - Banff, Alberta…read more Following the itinerary created for me by Rail Expert Kevin Guadagnoli through Amtrak Vacations, I left Jasper and headed to Banff, aboard a tour bus operated by Brewster Transportation. While I was not able to participate in the 9-hour excursion to the Columbia Ice Fields that Kevin had booked for me (I was late when that tour departed from my hotel to Jasper via the Ice Fields to Banff), Brewster offered a bus direct from Jasper to Banff, sans icefield exploration, for CA$168, and I arrived in Banff in late afternoon. As had been the case throughout this custom-built trip, Kevin did a great job of choosing my hotel in Banff: he booked my room at The Canoe Hotel and Suites, in the heart of Banff. The Canoe Hotel appears to get its name from the structure itself, which consists of four levels cleverly arranged to look like canoes. The room included a gas fireplace, and a spacious balcony on the fourth floor. My room was within a few minutes' walk to three heated outdoor pools, a sauna, and an outdoor fire area. I found the hotel to be an impressive presence in Banff. Located in Banff's Uptown District (on Banff Avenue), the Canoe is within a ten-minute walk of pretty much all of what Banff offers. The hotel houses Sudden Sally, a full-service bar and restaurant with outdoor and indoor seating, and beautiful vistas wherever you look. It's adjacent to The Otter Hotel and its restaurant, Good Folks, which likewise offers a full-service bar and restaurant. For the budge-minded and for those who crave honest-to-goodness root beer, there's an A&W directly across the street from the Canoe. Front desk staff were uniformly friendly and helpful. Upon my arrival the staff double-checked my reservations for trips scheduled for the next two days - one to visit Banff's glorious waterfalls and one that would take me from Banff to Calgary on the last day of my vacation. Included with the room were two passes allowing me to use local transportation to visit more of the village. On my second day there I joined an 8-hour excursion to nearby waterfalls, and on my third day I completed my vacation joining a 2-hour bus trip to Calgary Airport.

1 STAR -- RIMROCK MANAGEMENT NEEDS TO ANSWER FOR THIS…read more Rimrock management should be absolutely ashamed of how my daughter's wedding reception was handled. This was not a minor service issue. This was not one employee having a bad night. This was a complete failure by the hotel to provide the experience we paid for and, more importantly, a complete failure to understand what a wedding reception is supposed to be. We paid for the reception from 5:00 PM until 1:00 AM. What we got was a night of frustration, embarrassment, unnecessary security involvement and guests who ultimately felt so uncomfortable that they left around 10:00 PM. Three hours of a paid reception simply went unused because of the atmosphere created by the hotel. Management needs to ask themselves how they allowed this to happen. When our guests arrived, the reception room wasn't even properly ready. Tables weren't set. Name tags weren't out. There was no water on the tables. The easel for the welcome sign wasn't set up. And the BRIDE HERSELF had to set up tables at her own wedding reception. How can management possibly think that is acceptable? The bride should have been celebrating with her new husband. Instead, she was doing the hotel's job. Then came the treatment of our guests. The groom was refused alcohol because staff claimed he was drunk, despite the fact that he was sober. Guests were accused of drinking and driving. A mother who had not had alcohol in over a year went to her vehicle to pump breast milk and was followed by staff/security. A guest carrying an approximately 2-inch pocket knife was somehow considered enough of a threat to involve security. And throughout the evening, our guests felt like they were being watched. Security was monitoring people at a wedding reception where everyone was simply trying to celebrate. Staff repeatedly approached the mother of the bride telling her that people were being cut off because they were ordering doubles. Again, nobody expected the hotel to allow irresponsible drinking. But there is a massive difference between responsible alcohol service and making an entire wedding party feel like they are under investigation. This is where management completely lost the plot. You were hosting a wedding. Not a nightclub. Not a criminal investigation. Not a security operation. A WEDDING. These people were friends and family who had travelled to celebrate the bride and groom. Instead of making them feel welcome, your staff made them feel watched, judged and unwelcome. And the consequences were devastating. THE BRIDE AND GROOM NEVER HAD THEIR FIRST DANCE. THE BRIDE NEVER GOT HER FATHER-DAUGHTER DANCE. Those are once-in-a-lifetime moments. You cannot refund them. You cannot reschedule them. You cannot apologize and give them another chance. They are gone forever. And management needs to understand that. You didn't simply provide poor customer service. Your handling of this reception contributed to an environment where the celebration effectively fell apart. People began leaving around 10:00 PM, even though the reception was paid for until 1:00 AM. Imagine paying for a wedding reception until 1:00 AM and having your guests so uncomfortable that they're gone by 10:00. That should be an absolute embarrassment to management. My daughter and her husband deserved to spend their wedding night surrounded by the people they love, dancing, laughing and celebrating their marriage. Instead, they had to deal with hotel staff, security, accusations and a reception that never became the celebration it was supposed to be. The bride even had to help set up the room herself. Management failed this couple when they were supposed to be taking care of them. And I want to be very clear: This isn't about wanting special treatment. It's about expecting the basic service that was paid for. It's about expecting a hotel that hosts weddings to actually be prepared for a wedding. It's about expecting guests to be treated respectfully. And it's about expecting management to understand that a wedding isn't just another event on a calendar. For the bride and groom, this was their wedding day. They only get one. Rimrock management should be asking themselves: How did a wedding we were paid to host until 1:00 AM end with guests leaving at 10:00 PM? How did the bride end up setting up her own reception? Why did the groom get accused of being intoxicated when he wasn't? Why were guests accused of drinking and driving? Why was a mother pumping breast milk followed to her vehicle? Why was security making guests feel uncomfortable at a wedding? And most importantly: Why did the bride and groom leave their own wedding reception without ever having their first dance? Those are questions management needs to answer. An apology after the fact won't give my daughter her first dance back. It won't give her father back the dance he never got. It won't give the bride and groom back the h

Plenty of storage and higher quality finishes. A safe and closet and cubbies and chest of drawers. Check-in is self service and requires an app. Pour over coffee. Free, Off-street parking, on the edge of town. Near a gas station and a bus stop. Super quiet. Never heard another person even though the property was booked the entire time we were there. Cons Price for value is a bit steep but cheap for Banff overall The amenities are really at the Canoe hotel across the street. Laundry. Sauna. Hot pools. Coffee supplies. Restaurant. No early arrivals accommodated. Overall this is a fun spot and worth a recommendation.

Really, really love the designs of the rooms. They blend older, "your grandma's house" kind of bases with a bright, simple style. It's got a unique look that wouldn't seem to work on paper.. but man, they got it down pat here. Rooms were super clean (which is really the main thing I worry about with travel), and RIDICULOUSLY quiet, especially for being a couple shakes away from main street. Seriously, I forgot we even had neighbours. Not a peep of noise all night (on a friday, at that!). Our only real (and small) gripe was the temperature. Despite fiddling with the room heating, it was always just a little chilly. But we had a tall roof, a big window, and perhaps not the best "fiddling" knowledge. All in all, not a big deal :) This place was cute, sweet, cozy and clean. Almost makes you feel kinda bad about wanting to stay in your room the whole day while beautiful banff is waiting outside. (lol) I never thought I'd learn to find forest-floor laminate charming. But here we are.

I absolutely adore this hotel!!!! First off, it's super weird that this is the only Marriott…read moreproperty in the area. I didn't know what to expect but I'm so glad I gave this a try. The town of Banff is filled with hostels, so it actually makes sense that this is a super chill place to hangout with good vibes. There's a ton of fun common space filled with games and couches. You can see storage lockers, bikes, and there's even a movie theater room. The check-in is at the bar where you receive a token for a free welcome drink. There's also a "food truck" which serves some food. There's a huge hot tub that's as big as the pool to relax after a long day of hiking. Location- It's right on the edge of town so it's super easy access in and out. Parking was just under 20 bucks but there's actually plenty of free street parking right behind the hotel. You can easily walk into town. Rooms- the rooms are adorable! They have a wilderness theme and they go all out on Banff. I could not believe the detail of the tiny crocheted moose head on the wall. So freaking adorable!! You can tell most of the rooms are designed to fit multiple people. The layout is probably a bit strange in comparison to a standard hotel room, but it's super fun for a mountain getaway. Loved all of the small details and the little connected patio. Couple small cons- the rug shed like crazy. My socks looked like they had a ton of dog fur. I remedied this by asking for a pair of slippers. I used the retro telephone and hit bedtime stories and got a long distance phone bill upon checkout; the front desk fixed it, but I thought it was strange. More pros- it happened to be my birthday, and I loved the personalized postcard in my room, along with extra drink tokens and goodies. Would definitely come back!

The rooms are decorated in an eclectic (expected for Moxy) but cozy style, and most importantly, the beds are comfy. We've stayed here a couple of times in Banff and were always sad when we had to leave.
