Nice accommodations in a beautiful location, and just the perfect distance from the noise of downtown Banff.

Don't let this picture below fool you. This is the best image that they have. At 5pm we were checking at this place and went to eat. By the time that we came back is around 8pm. It's a bad experience I have ever had before. I paid for $285 for a night so you would think it's a pretty decent place right? First thing when I walk into the door it smell like the building has been over 200 years and it have never done the renovation before. The couched is old and dirty, floor and carpet have not been clean, the bathroom have hair on the floor, the room is super small I can't even put a luggage in the room. So I decided to leave and ask the resort to refund the money. Here is what they said to me that they won't do the refund because my son used the restroom. Everyone make sure you read all of the reviews before booking it because it's exactly what everyone said about this place.

All the photos they use to advertise must be computer generated, they do not accurately depict how awful it is. Giving 1 star is being generous there should be an option for zero stars. The room smelled awful. It smelled like cigarette smoke (even though it was a non smoking room), moth balls and rodents. The balcony had an ashtray overflowing with cigarettes and an empty cigarette package was left behind. The bedding was filthy, public hairs on the sheets and brown stains. There appeared to be brown debris (possible rodent excrement) behind the nightstands with a very thick layer of dust. The baseboard heaters were falling off the walls and had sharp metal edges exposed. The dead bolt was also non functional due to a improperly installed kick plate. All of this information including pictures were provided to the front desk by email. Nothing but excuses were made and this did not rectify the situation. It was not worth the amount of money that was spent on that room. I will never stay here ever again and I definitely will never recommend that someone stay at this facility. They should be really ashamed of their facility and staff.

Dead bug

Terrible stay at this place that they call a resort. First night found a dead bug in the sheets and blood on the wall! The carpet was soaking wet, I guess from them cleaning the blood. Had to be switched in the middle of the night from a junior suite with two beds to a room that only had one bed. They also say there is daily house keeping but when we got back from a hike the room was not made up and had no clean towels to shower. Refrigerator was also broken. Had to complain to multiple different staff members to finally only be compensated for 1 night stay. This place should be called a motel and not a resort! Staff member Johana and Vlad were terrible. When we said there was a dead bug in the sheets they said that is to be expected because we're in a national park. If I wanted bugs in my bed I would be camping! DO NOT STAY HERE!

Watching tv in our wolf 1 bedroom suite, it's great for 2 people!

We stayed 5 nights here to explore Banff and spend our days snowboarding all 3 ski resorts. Got 1 bedroom suite, queen and not the renovated version. We did have the downstairs room which resulted in tons of noise above at all times but we got through it. Our room was solid, nothing incredibly dirty, sparse kitchen utensils but they do have full kitchens (dishwasher, oven, decent size fridge). The queen bed for us seemed small, so get a King to have better sleep! We had breakfast in the lobby twice, my partner thought the food was okay and even got the Sunday breakfast buffet - that was good to him. I thought the breakfast was quite delicious here, I had the egg sandwich and egg Benedict's on 2 different days. We also used the vending machines for drinks and candy. This hotel was perfect for us because we did not want to spend any money on transportation. The resort provided a free shuttle everyday to downtown Banff and was always on time. The drive is only 5 mins and dropped us off at the Ptarmigan Inn. The employees here are so friendly, helpful and we did not experience anything less! Staying here and wanting to visit all the ski resorts, the Brewster Express picks everyone up from their hotel to the ski resorts and back for free and if you stay here, you will always be picked up first and dropped off first- such a win for us every time we went snowboarding. My partner also caught a wolf out here in the night walking around, that was pretty cool & the view when you walk out in front of the lobby is epic!!

Broken couch

I never write reviews but If possible I would give Rocky Mountain Resort a 0/5 stars. The manager was extremely combative and rude for no reason and got into an argument with us when we confronted him about the quality of the room. He honestly acted like a child, very rude, defensive, and sarcastic. The staff was acting in a normal and professional way but how the manager Glen treated us was a horrible experience. The room was dirty and old when comparing the pictures online. The pull out couch was broken and extremely dirty w/ stains. There was no place to put our clothes (no drawers, hangers) There was no way a normal person could sleep on that pull out for more than 5 minutes w/out hurting your back. The location is outside of Banff's 'downtown area' so be prepared to taxi or rent a car to get to the main area. Overall, just a terrible experience. We ended up having to pay for one night and switching to a hotel in the Banff downtown area. (Royal Canadian lodge) which seemed like a 5 star resort compared to Rocky Mountain Resort.

We stayed here for 3 nights. Overall a very clean and comfortable room. Bed was comfortable, and good shower system and TV. We were in the 1000-wing of the hotel near the back, so farther away from the main street and pretty quiet. The hotel is a about 2 miles from downtown Banff. Other nice things: * They have this free shuttle that takes you to/from downtown every hour from 11am to 11pm. We didn't use it since we rented a car and parking in Banff isn't too bad! * Their front desk folks are nice and can give you local recommendations on hikes. * Wifi is free and I found it pretty fast and reliable. * Like most of Banff, you're surrounded by mountains and greenery. * Lavender soap and Green Tea shampoo!

Very nicely updated room, heating and air conditioner both worked wonderfully, front desk woman was very personable. We stayed one night at a more expensive hotel right downtown and we much preferred this one. Definitely value for your money.

So he drove us into Banff NP. We stopped at Lake Louise, Johnston Canyon, Vermillion Lakes, the cascade falls, and then we began driving to the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel. What an absolutely beautiful hotel in one of Nature's most breathtaking masterpieces. The beautiful earth-toned cream colored hotel climbs from the lower mountain side and stands beautifully amongst the tall pines surrounding it. We made our way to the Vermillion Bar, where are post worked back in his college days, and were greeted by a super sweet server, Ayala, who lit up whenever she laughed and smiled with you. We enjoyed cocktails, beef, tartare, veggie Credit, charred, avocado, and a unique presentation of hot wings I've never had before - the actual wing that has two bones in it was pre-cut down the middle so you were served the 2 halves as their own individual wing. Great flavors and it was very unique and enjoyable. All of it was delicious and undeniably yummy, and fairly priced for such an elegant location. We were expecting a much higher price point and were delightfully surprised to see that even though it is a luxury location, it was not price gouging or ridiculously inflated that one often finds in so many other locations that are "elegant or nice". If you have the opportunity to treat yourself to a very beautiful sunset under the majestic Mount Rundle, and want to enjoy a modern setting in a historic landmark, this is absolutely a visit you must make while in Banff National Park. Thank you Ayala for treating us so well, and sharing your sweet Australian journey with us. Chris, David, Trisha, and Keith

I was on my way to the Banff Gondola when I stopped here. The hot springs are also located nearby. The original hotel opened in 1888 and has gone through several major renovations and expansions since then. Even if you are not staying here, you have to check this place out. I mostly walked around the outside of the hotel and in the main lobby. Fairmont Banff Springs has two main accommodation areas - the Gatehouse and the historic Main Building. It has a Châteauesque design to it. I love how the hotel stands out within the surrounding Valley. I could even see it from Sulphur Mountain when I rode the gondola to the top. The Banff Springs Hotel has over seven hundred guest rooms and several event spaces. This hotel is worth seeing in person for its size and stunning architecture if you are in the area.

It goes without saying that the views out the window were like every where else, spectacular. We were very busy and therefore did not have much time to enjoy the amenities of the hotel. Hidden Ridge Resort was one of the only options left within our budget. After arriving in town by bus from Calgary, we took the Roam bus to the resort. Luckily, a Roam bus pass is included with your stay, and the stop is conveniently just steps away. Although on the return trip, you'll need to get off at the nearby Douglas Fir Resort. Hidden Ridge is located a bit farther from town, so if you don't have a rental car like us, you'll be relying on the bus system. The resort doesn't have an on-site restaurant but does offer a full kitchen, which was useful for storing leftovers and quick snacks thanks to the fridge and microwave. Our room was on the lower level, which made it feel a bit dark, it could definitely use more lighting. Also, Wi-Fi was nearly nonexistent due to the remote mountain location, so make sure to download your movies or shows in advance if you plan to unwind offline. The outdoor pool and hot tub boast a beautiful mountain view, but they were often filled with loud children, making it less relaxing than we'd hoped. Housekeeping came daily to tidy up, replace towels, and empty the trash, which we appreciated. Overall, it's an older resort, and the photos online look a bit nicer than what you get in person. Still, it served its purpose well enough for our 4-night stay in Banff.

They also had a smores kit but we didn't avail ourself of that offer. I liked also that you could get freshly made coffee in the front office as well as actual creamer. Our room was on the bottom. I liked that there was some privacy - you just look out the window and see trees. However, because of the direction it is facing, it's a very dark room. I think the room can benefit from more lighting, like some overhead lighting. The window in the bedroom looks out to the car tires. There was also some weeds growing there. However, the hanging baskets were some of the best I saw - even better than some of the Fairmonts we visited. Other members in our party had the room above the front office with a hot tub that we used. It was pretty nice - very good view. There are some trails nearby that we drove to. We mostly drove into town, but there is a shuttle that you can use although it can get very crowded. We often would drive in late and have to park further away, but we always found parking. There is also a parkade somewhere below, but we never needed it.
