Went there for dinner on a Sunday night. Although we had a large group and it was late in the evening, the restuarant was not what we expected. It was out of choice beer, failed in providing numerous drinks correctly, and the food took over an hour and a half to get to our table. Also, most of us were not impressed with our meals. I had the "Health Nut Salad," which was average at best. When ordering wings, one of my friends asked for blue cheese which seemed to have been left out all day and was hard. I will however state the staff we nice and present throughout the meal. Overall, not my choice of restaurants to go to while in Southern Pines. read more

I ordered thru DoorDash and got a spinach and artichoke dip that barely covers the bottom of the bowl. I would say it's about 1/4 of the way full. It's good hence the 2 stars but not worth the money. read more

Came here with two friends. I'm from Hawaii and they recommended it dinner and drinks. Great atmosphere, wide variety menu, very friendly and quick staff despite being busy. I had salmon. Lots of seafood in Hawaii, and I will say this salmon impressed me. Great beer selection. This place won't disappoint. I'll come back here next time I am in town!! read more

We were a large group of over 25 people. We made arrangements in advance and they had tables set up for us when we arrived. Food was excellent and so was the service. I liked that they used one waitress for one side of the table and another for the other. It really seemed to streamline things for us, and our food came out in the expected amount of time and was piping hot! There was something for everyone including out vegetarian colleagues. Would definitely choose this spot again, and will likely try out other HT in other cities. read more

Placed a mobile order only to have to wait an extra 30 min inside. The place was not busy and my order was 12 wings and a kids chicken. Big napkins under two tables and other trash under two others. Many waiters/waitresses walked right by them without even noticing. This is definitely a mgmt. training issue. Never saw any Mgr. In my 30 min waiting for my small order. I had heard the place was under new Mgmt. and had improved, but that remains to be seen by this reviewer. Hoping for improvement! Always enjoy the food though. read more

I stopped in to watch some NCAA March Madness. It was mid-afternoon and there were very few customers. It took over 10 minutes to get a beer ordered...easily another 10 to 15 for a menu to be offered...meanwhile, staff was chatting it up behind the bar...ignoring customers along the way. Easily the worst service I have experienced in years. So bad, I felt like I was in an episode of Bar Rescue. It would have been better if the bartender would have simply suggested I leave. I know people/places have bad days, but I also know when people are trying. They were not and they have forever lost a customer who happens to like their wings...just not enough to put up with awful service. Be better HT. read more

We were in Pinehurst for the US Open and were staying a few extra days. We went there with friends that live in the area. We were told that the staff was short that day and service might be a bit longer than we expected. We were given the opportunity to leave if we wanted and we stayed. Our service was still very fast, we ordered our food and our waitress Shayna even came out to let us know about how long until our order would be ready. She even refilled our ice tea without being asked. Everyone on the staff worked as a team to get the orders for all the customers. I had the buffalo chicken wrap and my husband had the cheesesteak. Very nice and attentive wait staff at this location. The menu offered a lot of variety. We stuck with buffalo wings and tavern chips for the most part at our table. The wings were very good. We had one member order the Pow Pow Shrimp and found it be nothing special. We also ordered Spinach & Artichoke as an appetizer. In addition we ordered an appetizer basket of tortilla chips and queso / cheese dip. The Spinach & Artichoke dip was good. The queso dip was pretty bad. It was kind of like something you would use in an advertisement. It looked good but when you dipper your chip it was like diving into rubber. This would be a great place for a beer and to watch a game. It would not be my choice for a primary meal. read more

It takes forever every time we get food here. A waitress who I can't remember the name of was also the hostess. She was nice this time and took our orders but took about 1 hour to get our food. The food was okay. The first time we went here this same waitress had been rude about how we only tipped her 20% of the total of about $200 (we were a party of about 8 out for a party) and she suggested we tip 30% instead. read more

Came with a large group on a busy Saturday night and we were seated outside. Our server took some time to get the drink order correct even though we were ready to order since we were starving. For a large group, she was great and everyone got what they ordered with no mistakes. She made sure our drinks were full, even anticipating refills. This is our second visit over the last year to this location. Manager was rude when we were waiting in bar area for our tables. Both times restaurant was about half full and they wouldn't seat us for over an hour. 3 of the 4 orders were incorrect. No silverware given until 5 minutes after the food was served. We had a family get together here last night and the restaurant was very accommodating for us. First they gave us a private room and were very attentive to us! Let me start by saying our server Destiny was Amazing! When we first arrive just for fun I set my stopwatch. We waited 18.21 minutes for service after being seated. Several staff members were walking around but nobody helped us. I flagged down Destiny and asked her to get our server. She said she would help us. This poor girl had three large tables and several small ones like mine. Throughout my dinner I watched servers standing around talking. This may not have been their section but I don't know what was because there was a young man and young lady working the bar. I blame this on poor training and management I understand it's hard to find good help. But you're better off not having any help then have them stand around chitchatting with the hostesses. The table next to us was complaining to themselves that they were not going to come back. There was an older man sitting by himself who didn't look too happy. I was disappointed not just in the service but the food as well. I ordered the steak tacos and the meat was very fatty. It was just big slabs of fatty steak. Nothing to write home about. My sweet potato fries were great. My friend said her hamburger tasted weird and only ate three bites. I told her to send it back but she chalked it up as a learning experience. I ordered wings to go for my daughter as she loves your wings. She threw them away. I've lived here three years and this is the first time I went to Hickory Tavern. I was pretty excited but I don't know if I'll return. Destiny deserves a pay raise she worked her tail off and served us and everyone else with a smile. read more

Had a great meal on a weeknight. The staff were some of the most pleasant and courteous that we've ever come across. Even the floor manager came over at one point to ask us how things were. We had a group of 12 today for Sunday Brunch and had a nice time. I ordered the Breakfast Bowl and a Mimosa. They were out of Mimosas and the Breakfast Bowl was ruined by the scrambled eggs being about 2 minutes past very well done. Not good at all, ate the grits and bacon and that was it. Drank water.
