This is my first time at hiccups. We wanted to try a late night café and we arrived before 9 PM. Online hours showed that they closed at 11 PM. The café can be a little hidden as I drive by this location all the time and I never knew it was there. It is behind a gas station and a shopping center. There's plenty of parking. The inside of the restaurant is clean, modern and has great lighting. There's plenty of seating inside, but no outdoor seating. We were a group of four and placed our orders. Most of us wanted to eat and we were told that we can order food but not eat inside after 8:30 PM. The cashier mentioned something about not having enough crew to clean up afterwards. We thought that was very strange and disappointed that we couldn't order anything because there would be nowhere to sit down and eat when there were plenty of tables around. We ordered drinks and fries decided to tailgate outside. I ordered the coconut iced latte and will say it was extremely sweet and I did not enjoy it. The hot Horchata latte was ordered by a friend and he said it was really good. The fries were really good, perfectly cooked and seasoned. Finally tried the popcorn chicken from Hiccups. The fries and chicken were cooked well. I'm not much of a spicy person so I liked that the chicken wasn't spicy at all. This is definitely a store that's focusing more on the beverages, because the food is consistently subpar. The noodles was greasy and overly sweet. The sandwiches were underwhelming and dry. I might eat it if I were starving to death. Despite their focus on the boba drinks, the tapioca balls are too small and the base does not have sufficient tea fragrance. The only thing going for it was the sound system. They've got a substantial subwoofer installed on the ceiling, and the music would rock you to the core. read more

If you didn't know they serve food you could walk right by and think this was simply another coffee shop. The reality is they have really great food as well! I got the Shrimp Pad Thai today and it was good. The sauce is rich and flavorful, the veggies are really fresh and the tail off shrimp... THANK YOU! The only complaint I have is that tofu. To big, oddly shaped, zero flavor. Honestly, take it out. It just gets in the way of the goodness. It's like getting the zonk in Let's Make a Deal! Aside from that, the atmosphere is really nice. Open, well lit, not too noisy, great music, clean and inviting. There was some trash in front of true store walking in. Train your staff to look beyond the doors to make certain the outside reflects your attention to detail that you have inside. First impressions last forever. Be a better trainer for your staff. I've never had any issues with customer service--staff are friendly and pretty quick at taking orders and handing out drinks, although it does feel like most items are pre-made. The food and drinks are decent but lean toward mediocre. Nothing really stands out or feels memorable. The drinks are much too sweet for my taste and have an artificial flavor. The food is just okay. The drinks here are always great, but by far, my favorite is the Iced House Coffee. Strong with just the right sweetness from the sea salt cream. It's such a great combination and anytime I'm in Long Beach, I make sure to stop by for a cup. As I mentioned, the other drinks are great too! Besides just their caffeinated drinks they also have non-caffeinated drinks as well. Their food menu offers different options of pho, stir-fry noodles, garlic noodles, and sandwiches. They also have snack items such as fries, popcorn chicken, and fried tofu bites. I find all of their food to be pretty decent. The staff is always really nice and helpful. The inside of this place is casual but they have plenty of tables and chairs for you to sit and hang out or to eat. Parking is easy since they are in a strip mall with parking right in front. I've loved hiccups in Long Beach for almost a decade now. They moved locations a few years back and I think their drink quality improved. I love that they offer quality meals in addition to good boba drinks, which is hard to find that combo at a boba shop. Today I'm really impressed by the flavor and texture of the boba in my blended matcha. The boba balls themselves are on the smaller side. 1st off this place was so hard to find them because the address provided on maps and Waze is different. They need to update that. I notice this place is filled mostly with college students. This place does have free outlets and only 4 outlets. They have free parking. This place is also near the airport. They don't allow dogs. It didn't feel like a cafe more like a fast food restaurant. The price for the food is expensive and I don't think it should be above $15. The food is average. The chamoy mango and strawberry delicious is water downed and like a slushie. This is the reason it's getting a low score. The food did take about 20-30 mins to come out. The staff took it right away and was nice. The staff was quiet when calling out orders. Super fast with getting my coffees out and made sure I had straws and a carrier to make it easy. The coffee is super strong and the boba, while small, were perfectly cooked. Not so much. :-/ I picked up two meals to bring home on Friday night. The pad see ew was not great. The meat was flavorless, thin and tough. Very disappointing. I thought the garlic noddles were better and had more flavor but my husband kept getting chicken pieces, multiple pieces, with gristle in them. NOT good. Such a shame because they used to be really good and always busy at the old location. When I went Friday night there was a party of 2 eating there and me. I could've sworn I wrote a review for this place. After all, this is one of our favorite places for boba and popcorn chicken! Yes, their popcorn chicken is better than Cha for Tea! Crispy, filling and so delicious! We get them a la carte. We've tried the shrimp fried rice and it's so yummy too! My son loves the Cookies and cream smoothie with boba! I love the Taro smoothie, the Vietnamese Coffee, the Thai Milk Tea, the Jasmine milk tea and the Ube coffee! Mmm! It's a Must-try! Please read!! Stopped by to make an order that took 25mins to make. I come to find out that when I get back to my mom's house surprising her with food our order was wrong.
