Project - Full gut, small kitchen remodel with demolition, floor replacement From start to finish, HIC Builders has been easy to work with and has constantly shown me their great work ethics. I found them on a work project app and after submitting my details, someone contacted me asap and I was able to get a consult that very week. I had something come up a couple days before and they were very flexible when rescheduling. On the day of the consultation, I met Liz and I knew the moment I met Liz, she was going to be the one. She's friendly, positive, and most importantly, knowledgeable. Liz was actually my last consult of the day and she brought up a lot of different things that the other companies did not, so I decided to trust HIC. I'm not sure if 3D rendering is used in every single project, but for our kitchen remodel, it was so awesome and reassuring to see everything put together prior to them committing to building all of the cabinetry. Their designer was super cool and she did everything on the spot within 2 hours! So, so talented. I appreciate their price transparency. While I do think it was still quite pricey, after doing some research, the price I paid for a full-gut, semi-custom cabinets with brand new everything, was pretty average. Any time something came up, Liz was ready with a quote and definitely came up with many plans to accommodate my budget. The project moved along very quickly with everything being done in a span about 2 months. It would've been done sooner, but we did have a couple issues come up (brought to my attention and resolved very quickly), so it delayed the progress about two weeks... and I spent a whole week debating on things too in the beginning, so it definitely would've been done a lot sooner! Also, if Liz ever suggests you anything and it's within your budget, DO IT! I kept hesitating and it always went back to me going with what she suggested and being over-the-moon happy about it because she just KNOWS what you want as a client. She has held my hand throughout this entire process and truly made this renovation experience less stressful. I will wholeheartedly be recommending HIC Builders to my friends and family. read more

AJ and HIC have completed three projects for us: converting our front yard to "drought resistant" a couple years ago. This past year, they did a garage conversion to an ADU and a bathroom remodel inside our home. I've had nightmares with contractors in the past as well as hearing horror stories from friends, but HIC and AJ specifically, have always been great with communication and honesty. Perhaps most importantly, the work is high quality and THEY CARE that the job is done well and correctly. There were a couple of imperfections that THEY noticed and took the time and care to fix the mistakes instead of shrugging it off or saying "well, these things happen." They even found that we'd accidentally paid for something twice and refunded the $$. Who does that? HIC. The ADU and new rest room are beautiful and we cannot recommend HIC enough. We will definitely use them again... in about thirty years when we finally pay off the 2nd mortgage for the ADU. :) read more

This review is based solely on the initial engagement with this business and in their ability to provide a quote (none!), not on the quality of their work since we did not even get there. Complete and absolute incompetence when it comes to onboarding a new client, from amateur "professionals" wasting your time, to duplicate calls to book visit for them to provide a quote, to missed appointments. If you value your time, avoid at all cost. If you don't mind having to take on an unpaid project manager role, you may have better luck in at least getting a quote. read more

I recently had two bedrooms recarpeted, painted and an extra large sliding glass door replaced. I also had foundation issues. I had been going back and forth with my HOA for decades to do something about it. Finally I decided to get it repaired myself and take it to small claims court after. During the demolition mold and termite damage was found behind the insulation and drywall caused by the foundation issues. You can imagine my frustration and anxiety. My contact at HIC was Bar. I cannot praise or thank him enough. He spoke with the HOA in my presence and they stepped up and took care of the mold remediation and replaced the damaged wood immediately. Throughout the project Bar kept me apprised of each procedure, time frame, and scheduling. Anytime I had a question I was able to call and he would answer, even on his day off. After the project was completed I had to ask him to have my doors painted, some paint retouching in a closet, a too obvious carpet seam redone, and the railing for my blinds reinstalled. He would send someone right away, and not blow me off or put me in a position of feeling abandoned. He literally held my hand throughout the project. I am not going to post pictures because I'm torn between blinds or drapes and currently have sheets covering the extra large sliding glass door. Do I recommend HIC Builders? Absolutely! read more

After doing some research on materials, costs, and home improvement businesses I had my first meeting with AJ of HIC Builders. I told him what I wanted and he explained the process involved to get things done. Initially, plans were to re-floor the kitchen and two bathrooms, but painting the kitchen cabinets was added to the list. AJ showed me products that were available and explained exactly what would be done. His crew did exactly what was expected. We were looking to have our backyard landscaped after a demolition. and I scheduled a consultation. I initially spoke with Lisa to schedule a consultation and walk through of our backyard. I let her know that we did have a few ideals that we wanted to get done in the back yard. But ultimately step one was focusing on the foundation that needed to be leveled out. We had a walk through with Abraham Mor regarding what our goals were for the back yard. We ended up doing a one stop shop for a lot of the work that we still had planned on getting done in the future. He ended being our project point person and helped us outline a plan that would beneficial to end result we had in mind. We need up with a vinyl fence, DG, Pavers and Turf. While working on this project, there was never any added pressure to commit move forward with picking out certain materials, etc. The workers were efficient and completed the project in a timely manner. If you had a question, or just to let you know where we were along the process, Abraham and HIC were very clear communicators who followed up to keep you abreast of the process from start to finish. This company is a complete joke. I requested estimates for a bathroom remodel through Home Advisor. I quickly got a call from a guy named Alex at HIC. So, thinking it was in response to the Home Advisor request I set up an appointment time. The project manager A.J. came out and looked at the job and then left. He never followed up so I called their office a week later to find out why. A.J. said he couldn't give us an estimate because we never chose a layout for the bathroom. I complained about that and he said no problem, he would work with us. Then I got an email from him demanding $5550 up front to do an engineering study before he could give us an estimate! As it turns out, this company is not even in network for Home Advisor, which means they are poaching customers from Home Advisor without even being vetted by that service or paying to participate. On top of all that, several weeks later I got 2 voicemails from the goofball Alex offering an "Easter Bunny" discount if we chose them as our contractor. read more

We picked HIC because of how thorough AJ was when he came to give us an estimate to redo our front yard and expand our driveway. Throughout the whole process he was responsive and communicative without being pushy. The crew (Moses and the rest of the guys) were always professional and respectful, and gave us some good landscaping ideas. They work fast and well. I would deduct 0.25 stars just because it said in our contract we'd choose gravel and stones from a catalog but we didn't get to. Luckily we really liked what they showed up with, so we didn't make a big deal of it. All in all we're very satisfied and will for sure use them again. read more

I am very pleased with the work done by Hic builders. Our initial contact was Josef. He came out and gave us a fair price to replace a wood fence, patio cover, and deck. Materials were sourced and brought in without delay despite supply shortages. My dad is a civil engineer and he noted the wood to be of good quality. He and his workers showed up daily, on-time until the project was completed. Every day the work area was left tidy and cleaned up. We live in a townhome. The only access to the backyard is through the front door and living area. His team covered our furniture and flooring. We will definitely call on Hic Builders in the future and recommend others to do the same. read more

We used HIC builders fir our front yard makeover. They built a front patio with stack stone wall and press cement the rest of the area was planted in pollinators. Astone "river" was made. Drip system installed and DG used as ground cover. The patio and wall are gorgeous. The HIC design team worked with us and made adjustments as needed. The project manager was very responsive to our concerns. The final product is beautiful. The only weakness is irrigation system some problems with that.
