Fantastic, strong coffee and a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere. The baristas are both welcoming and highly skilled.

The Laundromat - spicy pepperoni pizza

This is my second time coming back for bagels. I live in LA and my friend took me to The Laundromat…read morelast year for bagels and I have been dreaming about them ever since. This time, we got a dozen bagels: 8 egg everything and 5 salt (the do 13 bagels in a dozen there) We got their seasonal "garleek" spread and the "pickled onion and caper" spread. Both were fantastic. The service was excellent.

The wait wasn't too bad - we killed time by walking around the neighborhood - and we were finally seated around 6 PM. We couldn't decide on what to order so went with our server's recommendation of the mushroom pizza, and we split the kale salad to round out the meal. The kale salad was tossed with so much dressing that it resembled more of a slaw than a salad. The pizza came out next, and this was the star of the show. I've had mushroom pizza before, but nothing quite compares to The Laundromat's thick yet crispy sourdough-like crust topped with gooey cheese and buttery chanterelles. A couple of slices was more than enough for me, but the pizza reheated nicely the next day. Ambiance-wise, my friend and I were seated far apart from each other at a large table, and the restaurant was really noisy on top of that, so we had a difficult time hearing each other during our dinner conversation. Overall, though, I really enjoyed The Laundromat's pizza and would come back to try the other varieties or swing by earlier in the day for their popular bagels.

I typically love dry white wines and was really pleased to see they had multiple Assyrtiko wines to try. Food was amazing as well! Highly recommend their Zucchini Fritters, and Grilled Octopus as well! But my standout favorite has to be the Calabrese Pinsa! The staff was so nice too! I stayed for MANY hours hanging out with my girlfriends. We arrived at 6:30pm and stayed until closing and the staff did not rush us out even though they were already closed and cleaning up.

They were able to reserve a spot for 10 of us, we had a couple of couches to relax! They offer a robust wine list of White, Rose, Red, and Sparkling! I appreciate they broke the list down into Old World and New World. If wine's not your jam, there's also beer and other non-alcoholic drinks! Service was great and fairly attentive! For food we ordered: Spreads Platter: Three kinds of dips - Tzatziki, Taramosalata (fish roe), Melizanosalata (eggplant) Spanakopita: comes with 4 triangles Grilled Octopus: Delicious with garlic lemon EVOO dressing Lamb Riblets: Our favorite!! Great flavor! Different kinds of pizza: Perfect for sharing Overall, had a great time here and love catching up with friends while drinking some wine!

We discovered Outerlands from a surf documentary and knew we had to check it out while we were in…read morethe Sunset District. Such a cool little neighborhood spot! I was bummed we didn't have time to stay for dinner, but we grabbed seats at the bar, shared the AMAZING tomato soup and bread, and had a couple cocktails. Everyone talks about their bread being some of the best sourdough in SF, and it really is pretty amazing! I'd describe it as more of a rustic take on sourdough--warm, hearty and perfect with the soup. Loved the cozy, laid-back atmosphere and the whole vibe of this place. We will definitely be back next time for the full dinner experience!

After hearing so much about Outerlands over the years, I was excited to finally give it a try for…read morebrunch with my in laws. Unfortunately, I left feeling like the experience simply didn't justify the hype or the price. To start with the positives, the pecan brioche sticky bun was genuinely delicious. At $8 it was hard to justify the price for the size, but the flavor was excellent. The smash potatoes were also very well done, crispy, flavorful, and easily one of the better items we ordered, even if $10 felt steep for the portion. Everything else, however, left us scratching our heads. My in laws ordered the breakfast sandwich, which starts at $17 without the sausage. Adding the sausage brought it to an astonishing $23, and honestly, it was a pretty average breakfast sandwich. We all agreed we could have walked a block over to Devil's Teeth and gotten something larger, more satisfying, and nearly half the price. We also ordered the fried mortadella sandwich, which came in at $18. It tasted fine, but at the end of the day it felt like an expensive deli sandwich that didn't do enough to justify the cost. The biggest disappointment was the Dutch pancake. At $20, we expected something memorable. Instead, it arrived overcooked around the edges while the center was an absolute runny mess. It was easily the weakest dish of the meal. The dining experience itself also felt a bit strange. We were a party of five, and were asked if we'd be willing to share our table in case another group of three came in. I understand restaurants trying to maximize seating, but it made the meal feel less comfortable than we'd hoped. The saving grace of our visit was the staff. Everyone we interacted with was genuinely friendly, accommodating, and welcoming. They were the highlight of the experience and made us feel well taken care of despite our disappointment with the food. I can appreciate that Outerlands has built a loyal following over the years, but after this visit I just don't understand the hype. Between the inconsistent execution and the exceptionally high prices, it's difficult for me to justify coming back when there are so many other fantastic brunch spots in the Sunset offering better value.
