I usually prefer hertz over enterprise which is still the case because enterprise was horrid. I am not pleased with my rental. I always pre pay and had a set reservation. My husband waited almost two hours to get the car we paid for and it still came back dirty while having to pay $176 for ONE (1) day. Very terrible location. I planned a beach trip with my family, that was in LA visiting and showed up to pick up my 7 passenger vehicle only to find out there was none available. The vehicle was already reserved, so how is it not available. No call, no text, no email. Being part of the presidents circle, I would expect more. I am a Hertz Gold Reward member and a AAA club cardholder. The Lancaster location is not much to look at it's a very run down dirty establishment. The service is questionable as only one person was working for both pick and return which caused an extra wait both times over 20 minutes. The car I received was dirty on the outside and the service light came on during my trip. I have never had that happen before and I have rented cars weekly over a period of three months. We rented a car from here on 3/21/23. We chose the managers special for 49 dollars a day. When we returned the car after a day it ended up costing us 204 dollars. We did not sign up for any of the extras. There billing practices are set up to confuse you. Pre pay a certain amount, then they charge charge another amount. You return the car and they tell you you need to pay even more. Too confusing too expensive just straight not good business. read more

So, Hertz as a corporation will never get another rental from us. This location is SUPER shady. We literally got a rental to drive it to drop our car off at the shop and go home. Only made one stop and then it sat in our driveway till the next day when we returned it. The super rude woman who worked at this location... ignored me when I came in, pranced over to the car like she was on parade and then after her "inspection" tried to charge a pet cleaning fee for a few dog hairs that were loose on the backseat (we have a Husky type doggo and he's been shedding but he never rode in the car). She tried to say they were "embedded" in the seat and suggested we drive it somewhere else and vacuum it out (even though there was a vacuum sitting right by the rental car. Then when I gentle swept the hair off with my palm (definitely not embedded) and asked to see a manager ... she claimed to be the manager and refused to let us speak with her supervisor. But, to top it off... it was a lot of work to even talk to a human for customer service through Hertz corporate number and they promised to call us back and never did. Moral of the story... they don't care if you have a bad experience, they won't try and make it right and you might get scammed by their staff. Oh and they purposely didn't take a photo of a dent that was underneath the car / which was super fishy too... like they were waiting to pin it on someone who didn't get the insurance. So I watch them give a customer before me an attitude because the customer was told they don't have the vehicle he reserved and he was upset. Guess what my turn came and same thing. They should just close down. No service no car nothing but nothing we can do. I got dropped off at hertz to pickup a vehicle they don't have. The person helping made it sound like it's cool the website allowed you to book a car we don't have and I don't care if now you don't have a ride back home. It's $20 Uber ride back to my home. Not even a care in the world if a customer is stuck since now they don't offer rides to their customers. 3 stars is for Hertz itself because they will allow reservations even if the location doesn't actually have that vehicle available when you show up. So even if you have a reservation and show up that car may not be available or back on time which is why you see so many customers upset that they can't just show up and leave with the car they reserved. I give personally 5 stars to Chris! I showed up in the morning with a reservation and over heard her explain to another customer - who was frustrated- about how it really works and it made all the difference to him and to myself - who was also frustrated about not being able to get in & out. When I returned later in the afternoon (after a DMV adventure) to finalize my rental Chris was very accommodating and gave GREAT customer service! Highly recommend renting elsewhere. I reserved a cargo van online, obtained a reservation/confirmation number for the cargo van for 4:30pm. Went to Hertz at 4:45pm and they told me they didn't have a cargo van to rent me or anything close to a cargo van such as a truck. This is the 2nd time they have done this to me in the past year. I am absolutely appalled with the lack of customer service at this location. I was charged $80 for one day with the most basic car not including tax and insurance and gas. For the price I was paying, I would expect at least decent service. My appointment was at 11:30am, I wasn't put in a vehicle until 1:00pm. The vehicle I was given was completely filthy, I couldn't see through the windows and there was rotting moldy fruit sitting inside the car. The employee that checked me out was not wearing a mask even though it is required by law during the pandemic and didn't even sanitize my vehicle. After waiting for nearly two hours, being given a completely filthy car by employees refusing to wear masks and being charged nearly a $100 for a ONE day rental, I don't think this location will be around for very long. read more

They checked the car out to me and then told me the car needed to be cleaned/washed. Waited for over 30mins while car never moved from parking spot. I told them to cancel the rental, and I walked away. This place has a lack of management. It needs a customer-oriented manager to fix it. Got to this location with a car problem rented a car from Santa Monica location. Even though my husband called from the car with the problem and talked to the Hertz Corp office and the CSR has confirmed this location has a car to be exchanged... when we showed up staff behind the counter denied receiving a call from Corporate and manager went to her office and we were totally ignored. Other customers there being waiting for cars not being ready on time and some with recall issues were all over the counter trying to get cars. At this point a csr i guess Miranda was talking to the manager Bonnie about cars on another side of the shopping center in order to help these customers. This Hertz is located next to the Coldstones in the Winco/Lowes shopping plaza. Customer service was fine; we didn't encounter any rudeness that other reviews have complained about. We also had no problems with being overcharged, etc. Only hiccup is that the car that we reserved had not been cleaned yet by the time we reserved it for. Therefore, we had to wait an extra 30 minutes for it to be washed and cleaned. It doesn't sound like a long wait but it did alter our trip schedule significantly. I've rented cars on multiple occasions and this was the first time the reserved car wasn't ready at the time I specified. I'd be wary about making reservations again with this location due to the delay we experienced. read more

Already made the reservation though and don't have time to switch it, so they got me! I got dropped off here, because I already rented a car, paid online 2 weeks ago. I didn't have a credit card in my wallet, but I had two debit cards, including the one I paid with, when I got dropped off here this morning. So now Im stranded here. They wouldn't even take a valid credit card over the phone from a customer and card they've rented to previously for 200 Deposit. Why couldn't they run another debit for the deposit? I had it but they needed a credit card. Someone had to leave work, and drive 25 minutes to present one in person. Are you kidding me? If it's valid take it over the phone. I get it, company policy blah blah. But work with your PAYING customers. Whenever I get another rental I'll skip Hertz and even pay more for a better experience. There's plenty others. The service agent was able to get a vehicle that was appropriate for kiddo's car seat and made sure we knew the benefits of renting for a week vs a few days. Customer service is okay, they are friendly, but they are slow, very slow. This was my second time going there, and just like before there were no cars on the lot. I reserved my car online 2 weeks in advance. I got there @ 9, at least expecting to be out and 10 I did not leave Hertz until 11.00. I appreciate their accommodations but the car was not clean. Because I had to wait, 2 hours my trip was changed and people were waiting on me. I've gone to many car rental places and Hertz in Lancaster is the only one where one can go and there will be very few reserved cars, at the time specified. So what is the point of making reservations if your reservations are not ready when you get there. I knew I should've gone to Hertz, but I said I will try again. I am skeptical about going back to Hertz, nice people, but it seems making reservations at this location does not work. I cannot in good conscience recommend this location to anyone. It hurts my heart to write this review. I've actually waited about three months to write this because I love Hertz. I've wrotten reviews for about three other Hertz locations in Pasadena, the LAX airport, the ATL airport (my favorite) and I don't think I wrote one for the Philly airport but I will today lol. I have been a Five Star Hertz member for about three years now, and I've committed all the cardinal sins, from keeping my rental an extra week to returning less than full. So I'm pretty understanding about mishaps. THE THING IS, THE CUSTOMER SERVICE AT THIS LOCATION SUCKS. The first time I went here, my CC got denied (my payment was pending a-Kay) so I had to go to the bank and deposit funds to use my debit card. I asked Mirna if she could wait until I got back which would be like 6:05pm and she said she couldn't do that because they close at 6, which I thought was really inconsiderate. I went to the bank anyway all sweating and hyperventilating, and when I came back she hesitated and then opened the door for me. That left a really bad taste in my mouth. Mirna just isn't a very friendly person, maybe. I must say, though, the car selection (when they have them) is nice and they usually have compact vehicles which I love. I accidentally left my phone charger in a car and repeatedly came back to ask if they checked the car and they still haven't. It doesn't make any sense, because the ATL airport location would always call the driver and ask them to check the car if I left something. Bleh I won't be going back, even though I rent a car literally every week. I moved across the street to Enterprise.
