The station is in a desolate location. No discernible businesses in view. There is usually one public safety employee and a roving security guard. It's not a safe place to be hanging out waiting for two hours or more between trains. There's no place to go either. The station closes in the evening, and bus schedule goes to about an hour between buses. You don't want to be there! Stick to peak hours for your safety. Avoid the AVTA buses when you can. You will miss the train as they are slow. God bless your efforts to get to the city. Not easy from here. read more

Palmdale Metrolink Station - Palmdale station - Public Transportation Near Me - Palmdale, California

The station itself is fine. This review is for the ride down to LA from the AV. FIRST: The ride down is very slow. The train was late 20 minutes and then we waited 20 more minutes on the track for another train to go by near Acton. So we ended up arriving 40 minutes after our scheduled time. SECOND: The passengers to and from the AV are RIDICULOUS. They are out of control, loud, obnoxious people who scream profanities at each other, talk on the phone the entire train ride down to LA, screaming profanities into the phone and blast their rap music for the whole car to hear despite the announcements not to do so. THIRD: There is no enforcement of policy by the conductors at all. They make a service announcement overhead, but short of an all out fight, they will not be correcting any of the passengers behavior. They did not check train tickets until Burbank. When they did so multiple passengers told lame stories about how some friend had their ticket upstairs and they didn't know where they were. The conductor told them they would have to get off the train and they complained. He then said they could take the $200 fine instead and they chose to get off. Why didn't he fine them in the first place???? FOURTH: The train ride just does not feel safe. I felt like I was riding on a car full of gangsters and thugs. FIFTH: There were very few outlets located at the tables and chairs by the doors. Everyone wants to charge their phone on the ride back home and there are not enough outlets. The only thing that tempts me to use the metro again is the all day $10 weekend pass that is good for all of one weekend day, Saturday or Sunday. The price can't be beat with service to LA and back, as well as all the metro lines down in LA. That being said the metro is losing a lot of money with all the free riders and no tickets, not to mention paying customers due to the lack of security/peace during the ride. Its so bad, they should have a sheriff stationed in every car based on the behavior I've seen. They should at least have a designated "quiet" car if they are going to allow such awful behavior. read more

Agree with much of what Scott B said below in his review. Though it's six years old, it's still quite accurate. This is the main transportation center for the Antelope Valley. Lots of free parking, with connections to Metrolink, FlixBus, weekday AVTA commuter bus routes 785-787, etc. Easy connections to downtown Los Angeles, Burbank, Victorville, Las Vegas, and so on. Relatively safe with private security. Eventually, this location might connect to High Speed Rail, and the Brightline West train proposed to Las Vegas. For those who work in west LA, try the AVTA 786 bus to the UCLA/Beverly Hills area, it's much faster than the train. While I am a big fan of the train, it slows to a ridiculous crawl when passing through the Acton area en route to Burbank and downtown. Anyone who still insists on fighting traffic by driving to Los Angeles from Palmdale with all of these great transit options available is insane. Just try it! read more

Has always helped me commute out of Palmdale efficiently. I take the commuter bus to CSUN for my classes which is great. Also the metro is convenient with considerate hours. I would recommend public transportation if you want to save money and have a little extra time. read more

Went to get a train on Sunday. This review is about the inside of the station and the people hanging out on the outside of the station. You have guys trying to sell people tickets that people have thrown in the trash that have already been used. Security that you have City in the station doesn't do anything about it. Not 1 out of 8 vending machines in the train station work. It's like going to the train station in the ghetto. The City of Palmdale really needs to do something to fix that please. read more

I personally feel that this station is very clean. However I would feel more comfortable if there were Sheriff's who worked there on site. Or passed by near Metro departure and arrival schedules. I am not sure if this is a Non-Smokers stations. Cannabis and tobacco products. It can be a shock to someone who is not a local or someone who doesn't travel often to rural/ urban areas. However, when you take this ride on a sunny day you will have a beautiful view of California's mountains. There is bad cell service on this link. Trains are awesome. On a Sunday morning whim, I decided to use a free train pass I'd received to go up north, and see just what was in Palmdale. I keep running into people who keep telling me it's cool. I've honestly only seen Palmdale at 75 miles an hour on the 14. So it's kinda my new area to explore. So I decided to take the train up there. The train ride was really nice, and when I arrived at the station, I noticed that it's actually a fairly small building. It's got rows and rows of benches for sitting, and electronic signs stating the status and times of trains and busses arriving and departing. There are water bubblers, bathrooms and it's even got it's own wi-fi bubble broadcasting. There's a booth for information, and a great row of vending machines to quench the thirst and calm the munchies. I was a bit disappointed when I saw that the vending machines had been placed where a small cafe once was. I'd have much more preferred a cafe sandwich or something to a vending machine meal. I'll add this to my list of annoyances to solve if I ever win the lottery I suppose. Unfortunately, schedule troubles only gave me a brief period of time to stay here. But when I decided to get back on the train, there were nice guys standing at the platform to help to get the tickets sold, and were great in answering any questions that people had about the machines, the tickets, or the trains in general. From what I understand, Palmdale Road is just a short walk down the road. There are some restaurants over there. The random kid-in-a-tie I asked said something about a Dominos and a Jack in the Box. I also saw something about a Cajun & Creole place that looked far more interesting than fast food. The trains are a magical adventure, they take you places, and you don't have to worry about your car. You don't have to drive. You can just sit and stare at the wondrous scenery goin by in the windows. I highly suggest you all try them out once or twice in your lives. read more

I have been using the Metrolink for about 7 years and in the first few years I loved it! I used to visit my friends in LA and I never worried about driving, gas, accidents, etc... I loved it so much because I was able to concentrate on my reading and work. Sadly, with every passing year this line has been getting a bit more rowdy, smelly and noisy (details below) Rowdy: people go on board with kids who are left to run around the cabin, kick seats, cry, yell and throw tantrums. I have a very low tolerance for this on any method of transportation. It's simply unacceptable. Smelly: More and more people have decided that it is Okay to eat their overly fragrant foods in a closed cabin. Seriously?! It's totally inconsiderate and a number of smells combined is nearly always gag inducing. NOISY: cellphone people, people having overly loud conversations, people playing music on their cellphones with out headphones and those who do use headphones have it on so loud is still loud enough to be heard two rows down. I find it hilarious when people are having personal conversations and are cut off when the train goes through a tunnel. Seeing them confused for the next minute saying "hello! HELLO!!!" almost makes it worth having had listen to them for that long. I planned on riding the train about a month ago. I got to the station early and I bought my ticket. I sat their patiently waiting like always only to realize the train would be late about 30 mins. I said to myself okay, its not too bad. Things happen, right? Thirty minutes later nothing. New notice its delayed another hour...tops. I told myself well I already waited this long might as well hold on a bit longer. The time passed and one again delayed. At this point I've waited about 2 hours and i'm irritated. So, I call metrolink and I kindly ask for a refund or a voucher to be able to reuse my ticket another day. I mean it sounds like the sensible business thing to do...unfortunately, they acted like the victim and refused to do anything. So, they can keep my last fare because I will no longer be a customer. I would rather drive to LA then to have to bare any more nuisances. If you decide to take the train make sure trains are working that day or you'll be out your fare + x amount of hours of your day. read more

From my experience I'm gonna tell you guys what I've seen: Vending-they have vending machines that sell some good stuff I always get coffee Waiting-the waiting room is mostly good never had any problem. Tickets-get there EARLY if u buy your ticket at the last minute you'll be sorry Shelters-the shelters are good only that the seats are always to hot to sit on Security-the "public safety" guy is very HELPFUL if you ask him something he answers it he's awesome So that's what I thought about it ;) stand behind the yellow line!! So id like to start off by saying that im very new to the whole metro riding experience . I don't take trains or buses or anything like that and from word of mouth from people I was actually extremely scared to try it haha. But at the end of the day it was nothing like people made it out to be. Everyone told me I better hold my purse close and be ready to be robbed and stuff but it really wasn't like that at all. Sure there are some scary characters but its a really pleasant experience .I would totally say to try if possible to get a seat with a table for a more comfy ride. So far i have not seen any bathrooms or anywhere to charge phones or things like that so im not sure if those even exists on the metro train. The 10 dollar a day for the weekend is pretty good price to go to LA or Hollywood and back cant really beat that, no driving, wasting gas, or traffic and parking fees so its pretty cool. read more
