Well I understand why this location has such a low score. Rating 2/5 as the last time I dropped off my rental car here there wasn't as big of an issue. I returned the car I got from LAX today to this location. I walked in, nobody was there! This location also doesn't have a traditional desk. It's in the layout of an old car dealership with several desks, however each desk is piled full of things. When someone finally came in, I explained to him that I'm just there to return the vehicle. He goes "oh okay, give me one second" and he goes out and starts detailing a car. It was so strange. I already ordered my Lyft and he was arriving. Yoshani was rude, impolite, lacked proper customer service experience, and for sure lacked proper management skills. She behaved like I was at her mercy, threatened me, belittled me, and made me not wanting to do any business with Hertz anymore. She never could give me eye contact and was very unprofessional in handling a simple transaction. For a company like Hertz to keep such staffs greatly discourage me from booking from this company again. I have been a customer to Hertz for a very long time. The only reason I gave one star is because of the Rep who helped me here. A young blonde gal. She was wonderful. The rental I got (paid extra for an upgrade still managed to get a Kia Forte) trembled at 65 MPH. I called Hertz and got a case number for an exchange. Drove 15 minutes to pick it up (different location). The Rep was rude and said she only had upgraded vehicles and that Hertz would not upgrade me. I paid for the damage insurance. They didn't care. I called Hertz again. Got a rude Rep named Alex who initially said there wasn't a Supervisor available to speak to me. He then placed me on hold for five minutes. He picked up the call and then disconnected the call! I called Hertz again. Got a professional Rep named Jennifer who said she could issue a voucher so I could take the car in to be looked at. So now I have to take time off work because you aren't conducting maintenance before I get in the car!? Come on Hertz. Do better. I rsvp a car in Oakland ca one way and to drop it off at this location on the Hertz web site it say the location is open on Saturdays until 5pm. We get there on Saturday at 12 pm location closed and no drop box to leave kids the customers service department was not help all they did was note the account. We was charge for Saturday Sunday n Monday after we called to explain things. when i went to pick up my rental, it was a flawless experience. The woman(Deborah is her name I believe) and I sang and danced, we laughed and she was excellent, provided excellent customer service and i felt very well taken care of. So when i got a flat tire 2 days before i was supposed to return my rental, i replaced it and kept my invoice to submit to Hertz for reimbursement. I live a bit out of town so I didn't expect to call them and ask them to come to me. It was only $40 to replace, i paid $300 for their insurance, I kept my receipt for the tire....and I'm an insurance agent. Did that happen? No. When I came to return my rental, she advised Hertz is filing for Chapter 11 and "doesn't want to refund me" for my tire. BUT! oh and this is where its good, if we come back to get another rental they will automatically upgrade us.... But i thought you were filing Chapter 11? This is completely unacceptable behavior. I will be filing a claim with the insurance carrier that provided me with insurance during my time of the rental period. Okay, how do I start off this review. Let me go off why I gave them only one star as a company. This review is for the Palmdale region. My car insurance works with this company. I had the choice between hertz and enterprise so I chosed hertz. I've rented from hertz in the past from a different city and had satisfying results. This Palmdale location has NO decent car available. I was given a really disgusting filthy car that stunk of staled cigarettes , body odor and stained seats. And not a full tank of gas when I received the car. I had reservation set up by my insurance company. car was not ready when I showed up. Was told to come back in about 40 minutes. Still was not ready when we returned after 40 minutes. over an hour later we finally got a car. It was a tiny Ford sparks which barley fits my bf son's car seat in the back. Staff was very nice and I could tell they could only do what's given and provided to them at the time. Nobody could help the situation. I don't know how the staff is able to work under this type of pressure and condition. Hertz needs to provide more cars to this location. And please provide decent cars! I kept that ugly smelly car for about a week. I called a couple times and finally was able to switch it to a standard size sedan. The Hispanic male staff (I didn't get his name) went above and beyond to help accommodate my needs. I would love to give him 5 stars for this post. But I have to stay honest with the rating for Hertz in general. I had that car for about another week before my own vehicle was ready. I returned the rental with ease. No problem. I don't want to rent from Palmdale or Lancaster area in the future. From what I've experienced, they don't have the cars I need. We would give this zero stars if that was an option. We originally reserved a luxury vehicle of which we were supposed to be contacted by this office to confirm availability. After two days without receiving a call we had to call them and were told they would not have this vehicle available. Instead of helping me modify my reservation to an SUV they advised me I would have to contact the call center to do it. After sitting on hold with their call center for 30 mins they reserved us a 7 passenger SUV. We showed up today an hour early only to be told they had NOTHING for us except a minivan. They made no offer to check with their other office for possible availability. We immediately canceled went to AVIS and left with our SUV within 15 mins. This location is very dirty, looks like the ads on the walls are from the 90s, the computers are probably from the same time. The service was slow, the clerks were bad mouthing other locations. The first car I got had cigarette burns inside and warning lights on. Nobody even came out with me to show me the vehicle. The second car was a very dirty embarrassingly gross one. This is my first yelp ever. I rented a car from here last Monday and returned it Friday. It was super last minute and alls they had was electric or a mustang. I opted for the mustang because I'm not familiar with electric vehicles. It was super last minute. The staff was nice and quick. Car could have been cleaner and did smell a bit but I didn't mind. Fast forward I returned the car Friday and had to Uber to get my vehicle after work. I left me server book in the vehicle with 3 $100 bills that I worked hard for. I called first thing Monday morning and the car was still there and they couldn't find my book or money. Dirty cars that smell bad. The employees are unprofessional and have poor customer service. I came back in because the employee who was helping get my rental took off after he handed me the key but didn't do a check of the car for damage. I had to go back inside to find someone to do it for me. I knocked on the door to their back room cus no one was in the front. Legitimately the worst location ever. I needed to rent a car with insurance, and my card was ran for the price of renting a car without insurance. This prevented my card from being run again for the insurance costs, so I got stuck with the rental that had no insurance that I couldn't use, that I was forced to keep overnight and pay for an entire days of having without using it. I ended up having to take my own personal car and put mileage and stress on it for my one-week trip. Their online reservation process is a joke. I reserved a standard car to be picked up at noon.l When I arrived at 11:50 there was only a subcompact available. My plan was to rent a nice car to drive on an after Christmas vacation, if I wanted a subcompact I could just drive my own car.... While waiting, two other customers were asked to take subcompacts that they did not want. I asked the agent. Doesn't the reservation system take into account what is actually available?? I've used this location at least twice in the last year. Once purely for fun and another time it was out of necessity. And each time it's been efficient and professional. This time, my car had been towed with my license inside. I came to the location with my work id, previous rental agreements, and insurance papers in the hope I could still rent the car. Dreading the worst and fearing I had wasted my time on my walk and bus ride over, I was pleasantly surprised to get the exact opposite of what I feared. Unfortunately, I can't remember his name, but the rep was very helpful, assured me it wouldn't be a problem and sent me on my way with my car. He was empathetic to my situation and served the customer instead standing firm on some "company policy". He even gave me the AAA discount even though I didn't have that card with me either! The Hertz rental in Palmdale are very unreliable. We rent cars from them at least two to three times a year and every single time they have never had the vehicle we reserved. When I say never, I mean never. If we reserve a Van we end up with an SUV. If we reserve a SUV, all they have is a small van. Shame on us for continuing to patronize them but they have quality cars, if you get what you want. Today was the end for us. We paid for the vehicle, called yesterday for be sure they had it in stock. We were told yes and when we went to pick it up of corse it wasn't what he asked for. Shame on this office. I've rented from here about 5 times now. Mostly out of convenience since it is close to where I work and live, but I've walked away with mixed feelings each time. I just got back from them about 8 minutes ago and was once again not completely satisfied with the car I was given. The moment I opened the door, I was hit with the stench of weed. (Did the previous drivers hot box in here?!?) The driver's seat was stained with.....white stuff. And the passenger's side seat was stained with something that looks like chocolate milkshake? Basically, car was not cleaned. Again. Not everyone loves weed. Not everyone likes to smell their previous drivers when they enter a rental car. Unfortunately, I don't have time to ask them to clean it or exchange fro a new one (since I took the last one off their lot). The previous time I rented from them, I sat down to a car filled with the unmistakably bothersome odor of wet dog with dog hairs EVERYWHERE. The time before that, I sat down to someone's leftover McDonald's food after waiting almost an hour past my reservation time. The workers are nice enough (hence the second star) but honestly, I wish they'd clean their cars before hiring them out to customers.
