Vote with your $$$ First off the counter person screwed up my order. Not a huge deal because the barista happily fixed it. Kudos to her. This review is More in regards to how poorly this place is following Colorado state Heath guidelines. And not just because of Covid but really Anytime. While I was waiting for my coffee a non employee came in off the streets with no mask on and went behind the counter and prepared himself a coffee. No hand wash, just touching everything. When I asked him about it he got in my face, threatened me and said he would be waiting outside for me. In fact he kept coming back in the store and telling me to come outside. I shouldn't have been the one to confront this person. The staff at the shop should be monitoring this and doing a better job. But when you consider what happened next it's not surprising. While I was seated drinking my coffee a staff member came from the back and stood in the coffee prep area eating and talking to the barista with no mask on. Pretty sure that even in normal times you shouldn't be eating in this area. Not only is it unsanitary but it's unprofessional. To the owner of this establishment, you owe your community better. If you don't think you do then your community owes you nothing. If this is what passes for acceptable in this community then people should reconsider a visit to Durango. This town is dependent on tourist dollars. Times are weird and it's our responsibility to be weird with them. If the owners cares he could watch the video footage just after 10:10am today. read more

Today I purchased an americano for my wife and an dirty, iced chai, which is my favorite drink to purchase everywhere that I go. It was, without doubt, the worst chai I've ever had. The americano was also really watery and bland. We were really disappointed at the coffee because, although we got our drinks to go, the inside atmosphere and seating seemed excellent. If we lived here, this is the kind of place that seemed like a good study spot. read more

The best baked goods in Durango, and maybe even Colorado. The scones are buttery and flaky, and come in really interesting flavors. The bacon fig scone is amazing, and so is the blackberry pistachio. The muffins are also delectable. So is the quiche. None of the baked goods are overly sweet--they are sweet-type baked goods for adults. The sandwiches are also excellent, even the grab and go ones. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere is good too. They also have beer and a decent happy hour deal, even though it definitely is not a bar type atmosphere. It is one of my favorite places in Durango and I highly recommend it. read more

I stopped in for a quick triple espresso and to my delight I left an hour and a half later! The espresso was frothy and had the pop I was looking for, however I tried a "Gluten Free" scone, I know, I know when you hear "gluten free" you think dry, bland, flavorless like "kissing your sister" (enjoyed in some parts, not here, though) but much to my chagrin it was moist tasty and packed full of flavor! You gotta go sit relax try a coffee and a scone, then sit back and soak up the area! BTW the quiche looked awesome! read more

I am a student in Durango. I have been going to Hermosa for a couple of years now, it has always been my favorite place to get a beer, coffee, or food and study. I never used to pick any other spot. I went in the other day to study and found that every single outlet plug had been covered up. I don't know if you folks know that the student base that comes to study is a huge part of the population in coffee shops? I also wonder if you have looked over at DCC recently and noticed it's twice as full of customers? Most of them are students with a coffee studying on their computers. I literally had to leave because I couldn't stay with a dead computer. I know electricity must be a cost but I don't really know what you think is going to happen. I don't know how you expect to stay in business without the support of locals. I feel very sad to have to give a review like this. read more

Happened upon this great spot while exploring the Main Street shopping area. The cafe menu is chock full of delicious pastry offerings. Lucia carefully described the special pumpkin seed breaded fish tacos. They were outstanding and so unique and delicious! Service was prompt and attentive, all safety protocols being observed. Very good coffee. A nice variety of choices. I ordered the "Cayenna"; a Mexican Style coffee concoction. It had lots of cinnamon, some chocolate & a decent jolt of hot pepper spice. Another in our group ordered the Golden Chai, which was very tasty and artistically presented. Nitro cold brew is available and would be very refreshing on a warm summer day. The food consists of bakery items and some pre-made sandwiches. I ordered the frittata which was reheated in a microwave. Adequate, but not mind-blowing. In summary, a great place to stop for coffee or tea and a quick bite, but not so great if you want a more serious breakfast. - Small outdoor seating out front which is the only dog-friendly space. read more

This Cafe gets a well-deserved 5 Star Rating. It has become my "Go-To" place for the best espresso and baked goods while in or going through Durango. It opens at 7:00 a.m. during winter months and the Owner, Lucia is often the Barista, making exceptional espresso coffee. She is most pleasant, always friendly and genuine, a great first encounter for the beginning of a business day. All the quiches and pastries are exceptional as well. Hermosa, please seize your potential! The space is awesome! Deep, tons of seating, high-ceilings, lots of natural light. The counter layout feels really good, with bar stools right as you walk up. But, past this, the place needs work. SLOW and unfriendly service. We were in a line of 3, and it took forever just to get a couple cups of mediocre coffee. When I went up for our refills, it felt like I had to wave flashing lights at the two women behind the counter to get them to acknowledge my existence (I was standing RIGHT in front of the case), and they were doing nothing of any notable importance. The bake case was either 1.) Never fully stocked for the day (it was 9:30am) 2.) Picked over (doubtful) ... and the frittata was dry and strangely flavored. This is the kind of place that Gordon Ramsay would rip apart, with expletives, for not hitting the easy marks. Come on, Hermosa, step up the energy, service and smiles! You're a coffee shop! Came in today and was really disappointed. I was excited and fell in love with the atmosphere and the amazing staff. However my matcha latte was disgusting. The white chocolate pumpkin spice coffee tasted like a mix of random spices with a dash of coffee. And the hot cocoa I ordered tasted oddly like wet rag. Great staff. Great atmosphere. I thoroughly enjoyed Hermosa coffee. I thought the coffee was tasty and the venue was nice. The staff was very friendly and I enjoyed the visit. We ordered a chocolate croissant that would have been better heated. We could have microwaved it ourselves with the microwave that is in the place, but by the time we noticed the microwave, it was too late. All and all though, very tasty. read more

Came in to work/access internet because the internet at my place was down. Bought 3 drinks and gave them plenty of business. Employee asked me to leave because they were at capacity for COVID restrictions for seating. I can certainly understand that, but not when I am giving you business. Incredible coffee, lovely staff, and talented pastry chef. With an array for coffee drinks and food options, the most I'd love to rave about is their gluten free maple fig scone. I even went to ask for the recipe. This was the best gluten free scone I've ever had, and I've been experimenting a lot with my dietary restrictions. It was flaky, moist, dense and had such a pleasant taste. We received a suggestion by a Durango local to head to Hermosa coffee. Unfortunately it's so close to Durango coffee roasters, another coffee place- so don't get confused. I'll continue to come here forever! Thanks for a memorable morning delight!!! read more

I ordered a slice of their daily quiche and the blueberry-pistachio toast. Both were amazing! I had a quad-shot Americano and it was really good. I ordered a veggie sandwich to-go since I would be driving home for 12 hours that day. The sandwich held up for a few hours in the car before I ate it. It was delightful! My wife and I regularly visit Durango. We were strolling Main Street for the first time since COVID and stumbled upon this little place. The staff? Amazing, very inviting. We both needed to use the restroom and I'm assuming the owner who was very outgoing and cheerful joked with us about us both going in the restroom together. The idea behind this place is awesome!! We had dinner reservations so we couldn't try to much of the menu. We did try a Raspberry Lavender Lemonade with Honeyville Whiskey and that was phenomenal. Grabbed a Jalapeño bacon cheddar quiche to go that was literally the size of a good slice of pizza. My wife got a Gluten Free Mixed Berry muffin that she said this morning was "absolutely amazing." Look, this is a small place that's locally owned and is really striving to provide exceptional customer service. However, I gotta know how do you get the eggs like that in the quiche?
