Waffle with strawberries, bananas + whipped cream of course!

Although I had a strange experience driving to Durango just to grab a bite to eat and head back towards Denver, this sweet spot really hit the spot. I enjoyed a nice waffle before hitting the road again. My dear friend Kevin sent me here so I had to pay a visit. I got a worldly vibe eating here and enjoyed the culture blended into our vibrant town of DGO.

Lots of people in there but there because of the Durango name. Hw Hermosa has Home Made quiches, awesome beverages, gift items, and the helpers are so nice!! Looking forward to returning to lovely Hermosa for breakfast, or lunch and great conversation. Really! A great find! Mom Vita and daughter Angela from California.

It actually reminded me of a cafe I used to frequent in college. They make all their baked goods in house, it's tough to choose! You order at the counter and the line was long on a Saturday morning. They have a handwritten chalkboard menu behind the counter, but if you can't see it in line they have paper menus to grab at the register. The tough decisions arise when you get close to the pastry case. It's filled with delicious quiches, buns, and morning staples. I was intrigued by the quiches and they had a huge selection of them. I landed on the green chile and bacon (I think it was bacon?!) When I went to order I was hit with a question I wasn't prepared for. They asked me if I wanted it on a regular pie crust or a hashbrown crust. FTW?! I had never heard of such a thing. They said if I like potatoes then get the hashbrown crust...I'm so glad I trusted their recommendation! They indeed bake hashbrowns into the quiche and it acts as the crust. I don't know which crazy genius concocted this sorcery, but holy moly I love the ingenuity! I don't eat quiche that much and this one stood out. I'd definitely suggest the quiches to other people! A little chaotic inside on a weekend. You bus your own tables and the line gets narrow when you have constant foot traffic back and forth for picking up your order, going to the bathroom, etc. Staff was working hard though to move as quickly as they could. A pleasant find in Durango!

what is there to say about this place?…read more i personally have never eaten anything here EXCEPT their bakery goods which were superb, best in town, hands down. Every morning they seem to have a wide selection of freshly baked pastries, good coffee, big smiles and a beautiful building. I have seen their breakfasts being delivered to tables and can say they look delicious but a big breakfast sends me straight back to bed... When i am in town.. i stop here every single time, always, without fail.

May 2026 My wife and…read moreI were visiting Durango for a few days. She took the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad to Silverton, but unfortunately I wasn't able to go because of a medical condition that prevents me from traveling to high altitudes, and the train climbs to around 10,000 feet. After she left on her adventure, I decided to find some breakfast. While I was walking around town, my aunt called. She and my uncle used to vacation in Ouray every year, so she knows the area well. She recommended Jean-Pierre Bakery, so that's where I headed. I was seated right away and ordered a coffee while I looked over the menu. My waitress was very friendly, and we chatted for a while. She even recommended a few places around town that I should check out. I finally decided on the Croque Monsieur (brioche, béchamel, ham, and Swiss cheese) served with a salad. When my meal arrived, it looked fantastic. The sandwich was delicious, rich, and full of flavor. It was my first time trying a Croque Monsieur, and I really enjoyed it. The salad was fresh and crisp, and the vinaigrette paired perfectly with it. After finishing my meal, I couldn't resist ordering a pistachio cream-filled éclair that had caught my eye when I first walked in. It looked beautiful, but unfortunately, it was a disappointment. The pastry was very dry, and the bottom was quite hard. It definitely didn't taste freshly made. The pistachio cream had a nice flavor, but there wasn't very much of it. I mentioned my concerns to my server, and she kindly brought me a chocolate éclair to try instead. It also looked wonderful, but it had the same problem. The pastry tasted old, almost like it had been sitting for a couple of days. I would absolutely return for another Croque Monsieur or to try something else from the breakfast or lunch menu because that part of the meal was excellent. As for the pastries, they certainly look beautiful, but based on my experience, I would probably pass on them next time. This would have been a solid 4 star if those eclair had of been good.

Great Breakfast Spot Before the Durango & Silverton Train Ride…read more After reading some of the mixed reviews, I wasn't sure what to expect, but fortunately my son and I had a great experience. The bagel shop is conveniently located just a 785 foot walk from the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad depot, making it an ideal stop before boarding the train. We arrived early in the morning, well before boarding time, so there was no crowd and service was quick and friendly. We both ordered the big breakfast bagel along with a beverage. The sandwich came loaded with egg, bacon, sausage, and cheese on our choice of bagel, and it was served promptly. A nice bonus was the 5% discount for paying with cash. Most importantly, the food was delicious. The bagels were fresh and flavorful, and in our opinion, far better than grabbing breakfast from the fast-food on the other side of the tracks. Some reviewers have commented on the prices, but given the location next to one of Durango's biggest tourist attractions, the pricing seemed reasonable to me. Convenience and location certainly add value here. If you're looking for a tasty, satisfying breakfast before enjoying a ride on the historic railroad, I would definitely recommend stopping by this bagel shop.

The cinnasugar was in the bland side; the others were better. Service was meh, from a young woman who very clearly is NOT a people person. The place only had seating for 3 or so small parties and is mostly a grab-and-go type of place.
