After she left on her adventure, I decided to find some breakfast. While I was walking around town, my aunt called. She and my uncle used to vacation in Ouray every year, so she knows the area well. She even recommended a few places around town that I should check out. I finally decided on the Croque Monsieur (brioche, béchamel, ham, and Swiss cheese) served with a salad. When my meal arrived, it looked fantastic. The sandwich was delicious, rich, and full of flavor. It was my first time trying a Croque Monsieur, and I really enjoyed it. The salad was fresh and crisp, and the vinaigrette paired perfectly with it. After finishing my meal, I couldn't resist ordering a pistachio cream-filled éclair that had caught my eye when I first walked in. It looked beautiful, but unfortunately, it was a disappointment. The pastry was very dry, and the bottom was quite hard. It definitely didn't taste freshly made. The pistachio cream had a nice flavor, but there wasn't very much of it. I mentioned my concerns to my server, and she kindly brought me a chocolate éclair to try instead. It also looked wonderful, but it had the same problem. The pastry tasted old, almost like it had been sitting for a couple of days. I would absolutely return for another Croque Monsieur or to try something else from the breakfast or lunch menu because that part of the meal was excellent. As for the pastries, they certainly look beautiful, but based on my experience, I would probably pass on them next time. This would have been a solid 4 star if those eclair had of been good.

The bagel shop is conveniently located just a 785 foot walk from the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad depot, making it an ideal stop before boarding the train. We arrived early in the morning, well before boarding time, so there was no crowd and service was quick and friendly. We both ordered the big breakfast bagel along with a beverage. The sandwich came loaded with egg, bacon, sausage, and cheese on our choice of bagel, and it was served promptly. A nice bonus was the 5% discount for paying with cash. Most importantly, the food was delicious. The bagels were fresh and flavorful, and in our opinion, far better than grabbing breakfast from the fast-food on the other side of the tracks. Some reviewers have commented on the prices, but given the location next to one of Durango's biggest tourist attractions, the pricing seemed reasonable to me. Convenience and location certainly add value here. If you're looking for a tasty, satisfying breakfast before enjoying a ride on the historic railroad, I would definitely recommend stopping by this bagel shop.

I was living on the east coast and I had a lot to choose from, but nothing matched those early Starbucks years. ​We moved to the four corners region during covid. On our first visit to Durango, Colorado we stopped in a chocolate/coffee shop where I discovered Dessert Sun coffee. Blew my mind and taste buds. I now refuse to start any day without french pressing a large cup of it's Black Velvet blend. It is by far the best coffee I've ever tasted.
