I've been going to Nikki for the last 5 years since she worked for another nail salon and then I followed her when her and husband opened up their own salon Henry's Nails. I go every 4-6 weeks for fill and a pedi. It's disheartening to read some of the bad reviews as I've never once experienced anything negative at this salon. I love when their dog is here it's relaxing and so many people I have witness over the years smile when they walk through the doors and see the little doggy. Addressing reviews on waiting, when coming to the salon, it's normal to wait a bit; the nail techs are finishing up a previous clients and giving the best care and services possible which when it's your turn know you'll experience the same. So be patient. Nikki (the owner) is kind but honest she will ensure you get the best for your nails especially for designs. She would hate for you to return because something broke or gems fell off she takes her time as well as everyone here. She's one of the hardest working women I know. For pedicures, I usually upgrade for a spa pedicure. They have a wall by the sinks filled with different scents you can do. The massage chairs are comfy and make the experience stress free. There are multiple different options you can do for your nails for colors, powders and even cat eye or color changing. There are gems you can pick from or you can do full on sparkle nail that gets dusted on. They also offer waxing services. I have gotten my eyebrows done a few times and have never been disappointed . I recommend Henry's nails to everyone I know. I bring friends and family with me. Take it from me who's been working with the owner for over 5 years (I guess 4 or so at this salon) , this place is great and offer a lot of services. Everyone here is kind but keep in mind if the place is swamped and workers appear stressed be courteous to them; they are doing their best. read more

I asked my friend whereabouts she gets her eyebrows done because her eyebrows always look so nice. She told me about Henry's in the downtown area of Ansonia. I decided to try them out since I've hadn't had my eyebrows done in a while. My daughter and I walked into the establishment and none of the staff greeted us or said hello, so I asked one of the staff how they were doing, which should have been the other way around. I went on to tell one of the staff members that my daughter and I wanted are eyebrows done. I noticed there was a dog walking around in the establishment and barking at people coming into the establishment. I understand people have pets but I'm not sure if that's sanitary to have a dog at a business. They directed us to the back and we were taken in immediately. The eyebrow lady was nice and had a smile on her face which was inviting because coming into the establishment wasn't that inviting. Let me tell you!!! She did the damn thing. I actually should have gotten her name before I left. My eyebrows were on fleet!!! She shaped and arched my eyebrows very nicely. There are not a lot of people who can do my eyebrows the way I like them. She did a fantastic job. I went to the register to pay for are services and there was a tip line so I added a tip and the staff person told me they take tips in cash only. They do have an ATM machine so I used that to take money out for the tip. All in all, I think they need to work on their customer service skills and make their customers feel welcomed and comfortable. I don't know if it was just that day but if they are normally like that then they have to make some changes to customer quality. Although the welcoming experience wasn't that great, the eyebrow technician was pleasant, inviting, and great at her job. This was only my second time coming to Henry's nails and it was definitely my last. Last time Dan did my nails and I scheduled an appointment with him. When I walk in no one says a word. Not one person including the two owners acknowledge me. It's pretty shitty. How do you not say anything to a customer who walks into your business. I have gone to place before to have a pedicure and I like to get a design on one toe just to give a little spunk to my nails. I don't paint my fingers because I work in a hospital and it won't last. So I went today and asked for just that. A pedicure with a design on one toe. My toe tech didn't speak much English so she had another woman come talk to me and when I showed her an idea of something that I would like she asked if I was gonna use gel. I said gel for the design is ok but I don't use gel on my feel because I don't like them to drill my layers off my nails. She scolded me and said they don't do hand painted design of not getting gel. Now I was just there 3 weeks ago and had a hand painted design with zero questions asked. So I said ok. Just do a French manicure then. And it came out horrific. My 13 year old daughter could have done a better job. And I still had to pay over $40 for a really bad experience. I do not recommend this place at all. Never again. read more

I have been here multiple times. Tony did them the first time. He did a great job.. I didn't have an appointment so i had to wait about 40 min, although I wasn't in a rush so it was worth it. I usually go to Henry's to get my toes done and normally have a good experience. The last time I went the woman In the front I suppose the owner or manager was very condescending along with the gentleman who takes our tickets and charges us. I asked a simple question in regards to an additional charge and they were very nasty. Additionally, getting my toes or nails done is a time for me to decompress and get some quiet time. At this nail salon , they have a dog roaming around their establishment barking at ever person who walks by. I have two dogs of my own and absolutely love animals , however it is super unprofessional and unsanitary to have a dog running around barking while people are trying to have their zen time. read more

This place is for if you need a quick and cheap pedicure. These people who work here are pretty rude, they do not do callus remover (the main reason you get a pedicure) and they tell you it's illegal and you can do it at home on your own. Also you can only tip in cash! read more

If I could give zero stars I would!!! I went on a recommendation, I called at 12:45 to make an appointment for 4:15, get there and they act clueless. Talk in their language to each other and I sit down. Not once was eye contact made, until 4:50 where the male said wash your hands and sit there. I sit here throws two books of nail colors at me and continues with the girl he was working on, nowhere close to be done. I said I'm gonna go, I made an appointment for a reason and it's now 5:00, two of them looked at me and continued with their clients, I got up and left. Called ahead was told to go in at 4:15. Waited a whole hour for anyone to take me. Then I sit down and they tell me they can't do an ombre set. Such bad service. I just moved to seymour in March and needed a new nail salon since I was originally from Stratford. A friend of mine recommended Henry's. My first experience was that the salon was clean, cute, and pretty big. Lee is awesome and gets the job done quickly. I feel like my nails look better than ever. They are usually quick except for weekends I would recommend and appointment (you still might have to wait). Prices are reasonable compared to other nail salons. read more

I've been going to henry's for YEARS and have been going since the new owners as well but i won't be going there after last night. I went with my little sister and the man there (one of the owners i believe) asked initially if that was my friend and i said that it was my sister and he said "oh i don't see it!" Then later while her and i were paying he says "Oh now i can see it a little." Then keeps on about all the ways we're different and ends it by telling my little sister, "give it a few more years for you to get fat" i was TAKEN BACK. I work in customer service and would NEVER speak to a customer that way. It's sad since I've been going there since i was in middle school but i really don't want to be going somewhere who feels it's okay to make comments like this to their customers. read more

I've got my nails done here a few times and each time never fails, they do a really nice job. Prices are good you don't get that feeling of being rushed and they are friendly. I had a full set done with gel polish and it lasted 5-6 weeks!!! I def recommend going here ! read more

Today I went to this nail salon with my sister . Mine you, I call a hour a hour before and asked for an if they could do a gel refill and a pedicure for me and my sister wanted a full set.. She said what was my EtA I told her 5mins.. when we arrived she told to sit to do my nails then she told me to do my pedicure first and told my sister to sit down.. Well I do want to start off by saying the Spanish lady that did my pedicure did a excellent job she was very social and you can tell that she good a what she does .. she even help me find a a hair salon.. So after my sister was done doing her nails painted she walked by me very upset said that the nail lady Tina told her that if she wanted her nail filed how she wanted them it would be an extra 5$ each hand.. I thought that was crazy so I asked nicely , Because I told my sister they do a good job here .. So I called the owner over While the nice lady was doing my pedicure. I asked him nicely if something could be done for my sister .. He looked at me and said well what she wants us to do . At the time they all were talking in there language. I explained to him that Tina the nail tech didn't know how to shape my sister nail so my sister shape 3 nails to show her and she did the rest the round shape and told my sister that if she didn't want coffin or square she going to charge her 5$ each hand .. she was very didn't tell my sister to wash here hands she just painted them and after drying told her was her hands.. Lee the owner told me well if she don't like it don't come back .... At the time my toes where done and my nails needed to be done .. So I got up and the lady doing my pedicure said to the owner that I was ready to do my nails and his wife scream from where she was doing someone nails . No she said only her toes .. I was so surprised to hear her say that because she was the one I spoke to when I called .. so We left the nail place with my toes done and my nails up done .. I had a broken nail and my sister left with a full set with two different shapes.. I would go here in a pinch when I desperately needed my nails done but did not have the time to go to my regular place. It's okay, yes kind off dirty and smells like whatever they use to do fake nails. This past week I noticed my last pedicure was looking a bit shabby. I had recently returned from Africa and with the holidays and other family obligations I never had one since being there. I had to go grocery shopping so I decided to go there for a quick spa pedicure beforehand. I waited a bit, sat down and was looking for closing my eyes for a bit. All of a sudden water came shooting straight at me like a hose on full force. She had opened the valve wrong and they couldn't get it to stop. I was soaking wet. I mean, soaking wet. You could have wrung out my pants. Finally I was able to have them get me out of the chair while they stopped the water. After a few choice words I went to the bathroom and they took most of my clothes. I then had to sit in a little crappy room, half naked, while they had my clothes in the dryer. Because I had no car and was meeting someone at Big Y I went ahead and got the pedicure automatically assuming it would be comp'd due to their negligence, however, no. They fully expected me to pay. I told her take your $7 tip and be happy or I am walking out the door. She took it, although she basically told me I shouldn't come back. No freaking problem. For a spa pedicure they don't even give you a leg massage! This place is gross, has very, very poor customer service and gives so-so pedicures. Her reasoning was that it was an "accident" and they tried...plus she helped me with getting the right blue color for the Superbowl. Well, that's your job an why you even got a tip!!! This place is dirty. I wouldn't get a pedicure there. They always tell you "20 minutes" and keep you waiting for an hour plus. A couple operators do a good job if you can get them. The owner (male) stay away from those a terrible job. read more
