We stayed at the owner's sweet B and B and then went to her cafe. This is such a picturesque little cafe and really enjoyed our bread and coffee.

First timer and won't come back. The atmosphere emits "locals only" and the decor is a sad attempt at rustic/vintage. Just uncomfortable. I ordered a medium Chai latte for $4.25. It was all foam and lukewarm water! She wouldn't even put a lid on my order after I told the clerk it was to-go. She scoffed and handed me the lid!

A very cool spot just north the corner of Henry and 1st Place. A dark interior is so soothing in one's squinting, non-firing neural, pre-coffee state. I only recently started going there as much on again off again level of coffee consumption has ramped way up again. (I blame the Brooklyn Roasting Company's proximity to my art studio.) I like to be able to choose different drip coffees, but at Henry's Local they only offer one. I've been to bleary to notice if they change it up. That said, my morning brain jolt has been delicious every time. They have been more necessary than ever since the movers picked my de Longhi burr grinder and Friis Coffee Vaults to take them far from another winter. I have to walk the long 4 1/2 blocks in a total miasma until I can cop a cup. Pastries are terrible for my health (yours, too) and there's are just delicious. I've only had the plain butter scone, though I'm looking forward branching out. It's 7:15AM and I'm waiting outside now. I know they open 30 minutes later on Sundays, but I started the review in bed and had too walk over. The baristas are very pleasant and knowledgeable. I get a kick out of discussing coffee flavor notes and finishes as if I were in deep discussion with a sommelier.

I had a pretty long day and I needed to catch up on some reading and unwind a bit. My buddy told me there was a good cafe up the street called "Henry something something on the right". I got the straight black coffee and a chocolate croissant. This was pretty much exactly what I was hoping for. More cafés should be like this. TL;DR: Solid cafe. Reasonably priced; good atmosphere; nice coffee.

Killer cafe. If I lived in bk (Carroll gardens) Id absolutely make this my number one spot. I had an iced latte. It was delicious. No complaints. Solid wifi. Solid amount of outlets. Great ambiance. Love the vibe. Blues playing in the background was great. The barista was friendly and attractive in a heroin-chic-Cher type of way. They get four stars instead of five because they don't take credit cards and it's 2014. If they start taking cards I'll update this rating to a 5 star. But someone will have to tell me cuz I don't live in NYC.

Really nice little spot. Exactly the kind of place out neighborhood needs more of. Friendly staff, local snacks / treats and nice off the main drag location

There's a couple of tables in a small store. Above the register there's a menu board resembling a train departures board, cycling through the options (it looks neat, but the printed out menu on your right is a lot more practical). There's a cooler with drinks and salads as you enter on the right. The sandwiches, however, are something special. On my first visit I went with something familiar, the Mean Streets (their Italian sandwich). The bread itself is fantastic (locally baked), and the toppings delicious as well (if I recall correctly the dressings are house made). Pleasantly, they also give you a paper plate with your order, which is a nice touch compared to eating off a wrapper. I enjoyed the first sandwich so much I came back the next day to try the No Sleep Til Gravesend. The sandwich is essentially a hot roast beef sandwich, with a jus on the sandwich reminiscent of a French Dip. Perfect on a cold, rainy day. Overall, 1 of 1 has great (and mostly house made) ingredients and great execution. There's a level of creativity on the menu that you rarely see elsewhere in the city. 1 of 1 is among the best sandwich shops in the city, and a very welcome addition to the area.

Got a TGTG order here. 11/10 I'd do it again…read more Brooklyn DOP actually originated as a pandemic business where my friend's personal trainer started baking pizzas outside of his Greenwood Heights apartment. When the hype got large enough, the owner decided to start a pizzeria and the rest is not history. This is one of the more worthwhile TGTG orders to me. Their pizza is SOOO perfectly crisp and charred, and actually is one of the closest pizzas that reminds me of the famous originals in Napoli.

Expensive though, about $55 dollars for a vegan 18-inch Margherita pie with 3 toppings. Was it worth it for the experience? Yes. Would I recommend to someone who wanted to try it at least once for a good dairy-free pizza? Absolutely, I couldn't even tell this was vegan cheese. Would I get it again? Maybe (?) once in a while as a treat with price being the only barrier. Service 5/5: This was great. I came here the other day to inquire about their vegan pizza and just wanted to try a slice. The person found his manager to talk to me about this. They were super friendly and explained to me the situation. This location only sold vegan options in full pies and their other DOP Fast Life location does sell vegan slices, but they didn't try to push me to buy. I came back today and the staff today were also very welcoming. Ambiance 5/5: Rustic red brick interior with warm lighting. It was definitely bustling on a Friday night. Food 5/5: Delicious pizza. I do regret that I ate it cold after driving 30 minutes to pick it up so I did not get the full experience. But the crust was still crunchy. I do wish the toppings were a little heavier but the tomato chunks in the sauce tasted very fresh. A very classic New York style pizza and I couldn't even tell it wasn't real cheese. Vegan garlic knots were great too.
