3 years ago I was a 9 handicapper and for reasons that I could not understand I gradually ballooned…read moreup to a 14. Despite a lot of practice and a few lessons from different pros I was unable to get my old clubhead speed and accuracy back. Although I am 68 I maintain my fitness and my flexibility and strength are little different from 10 years ago. My first lesson with Brian was last month. I had some trepidation about having a lesson without seeing the ball flight on a range. However I greatly appreciated the fact that the lesson was completely private on his property, which made things much more personal than on a public driving range. His equipment and observations told me how I was striking the ball quite accurately and he made salient observations of my grip, set up and swing path that none of the other pros I have seen picked up on. After the lesson I returned to the range, and later the golf course, and I saw immediate improvements, which further improved with more practice. My weak fades were now gone! In fact I found myself overclubbing myself based upon previous expectations. I found that I could take one club less and still hit the greens. This is all after just one lesson! For those of you who have taken lessons from many different pros, as I have, you can really see the difference with Brian's lessons, of course combined with practice. He works with your physical capabilities rather than trying to teach you "his swing," as other pros have attempted unsuccessfully with me. This is especially important for a senior golfer who does not have the spinal and shoulder flexibility of a younger golfer. Thanks BRIAN, and I look forward to future lessons and swing improvements. The swing evaluation at GolfTEC really clicked with me though; you're provided with instant visual feedback (side view & down the line) and metrics on every swing. I walked out of there with the 3-month/10-lesson plan and it's been great fun! The swing evaulation fee was waived, and you even get a fitting thrown in for free also as part of the plan. That I enjoyed my time there is mainly down to the instructor, Don Luvsan, who's been a fantastic coach! Equal parts creative in his methodology, and patient in his delivery and reinforcement. He's a real asset to the facility and I've greatly appreciated my time under his tutelage. Thanks in no small part to Don, I've got a much more consistent swing, and I know why from all the visual feedback. In fact, I just posted my best score on a round this weekend, and have tons more confidence from any situation because we've walked through all of it during the sessions, and all the feedback and video summaries of my lessons are in the online portal if ever I need a refresher. They've got a great sale (which appears to be annual) through the month of August, so I'd encourage you to give Don a call for a swing evaluation and see if the coaching resonates with you. Mileage may vary, but with the 'Game Plan' i signed up for, you get to practice at the facility 3 times a week outside of your usual lesson. When things were quiet, Don was always happy to poke his head in to check on me and work through some sticking points. All that's left is the fitting. I watched 1,374 (or so it seems) YouTube videos and I still couldn't hit the driver straight, but after my first lesson with Fred, I now get it and got it! Yah more practice is required but I now know how to fix it as the ebb and flow of my skill narrows into solid muscle memory. As for my lovely wife, she went from playing a slicing croquet game to actually hitting golf balls straight and with some distance. She's happy, I'm happy, the folks in the adjoining fairway are happy (Fouuurrr!). Now I'm trying to get my son to take a some lessons.
