The new management team has put much hard work into upgrading the facility. Jenny and John have listened to what customers have suggested and then they delivered! 2. The ball dispensing machines have new card readers that are a big improvement. They are faster and easier to use. 3. New range balls - so nice! 4. Mats - these are the best that I have ever used! Soft but firm, not like the old hard mats that felt like you were hitting off concrete and damaging your clubs. 5. Island Greens - so nice! These targets are priceless and make the range attractive. 6. Two putting greens - 1 is synthetic - take your pick. 7. A sand bunker practice area with real sand, not dirt! 8. Lighted at night to accommodate anyone's schedule. 9. A Golf Mart is on the premises, how convenient. You can demo clubs on a real range and not a simulator. Plus great customer service! 10. Golf Instruction - Awesome! Take your pick, many options to choose from. In closing, the Carlsbad Golf Center is AWESOME! I watched 1,374 (or so it seems) YouTube videos and I still couldn't hit the driver straight, but after my first lesson with Fred, I now get it and got it! Yah more practice is required but I now know how to fix it as the ebb and flow of my skill narrows into solid muscle memory. As for my lovely wife, she went from playing a slicing croquet game to actually hitting golf balls straight and with some distance. She's happy, I'm happy, the folks in the adjoining fairway are happy (Fouuurrr!). Now I'm trying to get my son to take a some lessons. Well, people told me they did not like this course, but I guess I didn't listen. The greens were in…read morebad shape and there were hoses all over the fairways for the sprinklers. But that's not the bad part. We had a tee time for four of us and when we got there, they said we could only golf nine holes because there were kid lessons going on and the driving range was closed. 18 holes is $26 and nine holes is $21. Big rip. We did not choose to only golf nine holes, but we were forced to. We should've asked for our money back at that point. This is not posted on their website, nor did they tell us when we made the reservation. When I told the guy there it was not OK and that I would not be back he said, in a snarky voice, "perrrr-fect." Hopefully this spares someone a similar experience. Go 15 minutes up El Camino to Emerald Isle where they are friendly and it's a nice little 18 hole executive course.
