Aviara delivers the complete experience: excellent golf, amazing scenery, great service, and quality dining. Overall it's a nice, challenging and undulating golf course with great views and friendly staff…read more However, there were couple minor things we noticed that we could have done without: - the restricted speed of the carts in areas that didn't quite make much sense - not sure why, but some of greens were insanely fast while other were really slow - it seemed they watered down the sand traps near the greens so playing out of them was like playing off concrete, no way to scoop up sand and get a nice, soft exit - the fairways were softer that I'm used to so the ball doesn't really run, and if you take any grass with you on hit it's like playing out of rough - we teed off about 10am and there were grounds crews on just about every single hole, most of the time around the green and they didn't move so it was a bit distracting Having said that, it was decently maintained, provided a complementary driving range, drink cart came through at least once per 9 holes, great gps system on the carts with food ordering, and a nice bar for after. I would play there again.

Beautiful chipping area. Gorgeous property. Wedding going on the Sunday afternoon we came back. There is a nice restaurant on premise, looks like great reviews and reasonable prices. Had a relaxing time on the green practicing and watching my boys practice. Friendly folks all around. Wish they had more options for drinks at the vending machine.

Was in there a solid hour just checking everything out. I later returned and worked with Michael on a full fitting because I was looking to move into graphite shafts due to hand discomfort in my current irons. He did a great job taking that into account and walking me through different club and shaft combinations. What impressed me was that he was also noticing things in my swing and giving me pointers along the way that were immediately helping me make better contact. I ended up with a fully fitted setup I'm excited about, and I learned quite a bit during the process too. Definitely found my new go-to golf shop. Thanks Michael!

But they suggested getting a used replacement which was newer than 25 years old and better technology! One of the staff helped find one that was closest to my old club, Taylor Made 54 degree. Cost only $50 which was much cheaper than a reshaft. They even offered to take it back if I didn't like it. Loved the new club and worked great but is now my 90 yard club...old age you know.

Today was the worst golf experience I have ever had. The club manager Eric said they can't "police"…read moreabusive dangerous behavior from other players. The men behind us hit into us, shouted at us, taunted us & then lost it screaming at the course employee who asked them to behave better. They bragged that they didn't get kicked off the course. They were mad at the pace of play but it was backed up for several holes so we were waiting on the people in front of us. They hit into us dangerously & laughed & then yelled calling us babies for asking them to stop hitting into us. Mostly we've had good experiences the last few years but more & more there has been people hitting into groups in front (& not yelling 4) & aggressive abusive behavior to us & others. When it's reported nothing has been done but today was really awful & Eric says management has no obligation to enforce better (or even safe) behavior. It seems like the bad behavior is mostly directed at women & groups that include women. The course is maintained at a mediocre level and they are often running the lawnmowers during play (which can slow down play) but it's a nice course ruined by increasing bullies who know they can be rude, dangerous & inappropriate & not have consequences.

There's numerous large mud pockets on every hole and along the border of the grass going from hole to hole. You're either having to constantly remove your ball from one of those mud pockets or you're having to walk far out of your way to get to your ball so that you don't have to walk through the mud pockets. I went into one of the bunkers today, which was really soaked, muddy and actually had pools of water in it. Additionally, the greens aren't in the best shape. After the front nine, I stopped in the pro shop to complain about the excessive watering and show him the pics I took of it, but he didn't want to see or hear what I had to say. He said that people complain about it every day and he reports it, but nothing changes. He told me to contact the manager over at the links (Eric), which I did and he was of no help. Also, I played with two other people so I was solo in my cart and was charged the full $24 cart fee, which is ridiculous. Don't waste your time/$ playing here.

But that's not the bad part. We had a tee time for four of us and when we got there, they said we could only golf nine holes because there were kid lessons going on and the driving range was closed. 18 holes is $26 and nine holes is $21. Big rip. We did not choose to only golf nine holes, but we were forced to. We should've asked for our money back at that point. This is not posted on their website, nor did they tell us when we made the reservation. When I told the guy there it was not OK and that I would not be back he said, in a snarky voice, "perrrr-fect." Hopefully this spares someone a similar experience. Go 15 minutes up El Camino to Emerald Isle where they are friendly and it's a nice little 18 hole executive course.
