Took a day trip to the Melbourne area and stopped here for lunch! Great place with lots of personality and a distinct Florida vibe. Got here before 12 on a weekday and got seated right away but this restaurant is very popular and was completely full when we left. We discovered that Tuesdays were discounted martinis ($7) so we ordered the Key Lime Pie Martini which we loved. The graham cracker crumbs on the ring were a fantastic detail. They have a ton of menu items to choose from ranging from cuban sandwiches and conch fritters to classic burgers. I had the Cubano de Langosta which is filled with lobster meat and was absolutely delicious. I also ordered it with a side of truffle fries which were equally tasty. For dessert we ordered both the beignets and the bread pudding. The bread pudding order was a large amount, four decent sized slices. It was pretty good! The beignets however were only okay for me. If you're familiar with my reviews, you know for me, five star reviews have to be earned. Hemingway's DELIVERS! This restaurant has it all and the ambiance is phenomenal! First, there is a Cuban cafe with pastries and delicious coffee as soon as you walk in and it has a walk up window as well. The entire restaurant is covered in a flair of Hemingway, Cuba, and the Florida Keys including a live streaming view of Mallory Square in Key West on a screen on the back wall. Be sure to check out their merchandise as well which includes shirts, spices, candles, and glassware. All classy, tasteful, and reasonably priced. Most importantly, the food not only perfectly compliments the motif, it is excellent! Classic Cuban and Floribbean cuisine that is delicious and authentic. You will find classic Cuban dishes like the Cuban sandwich and ropa vieja, and also excellent seafood dishes and eccentric combos of southern Florida style entrees with a Caribbean flair. The servers are knowledgeable and friendly. They are attentive and helpful and work to make sure you enjoy your dining experience. Let's get straight to the point. Are we all glad that we found this place on yelp and decided to do an hour drive just eat here.. YES. There's four of us in total. We decided to get together and take a random trip to Melbourne for lunch. Based on the yelp reviews and all the delicious looking pictures of the food, this was definitely a winner. It's kinda hard to miss this place when driving by due to the large happy hour sign on the side of the road. There's also little signs right next to the restaurant letting you know you're here. You just can't miss this place. It's located in a shopping center right next to a movie theater. I do like the fact that they have a walk up window if you would like to get a to go order. There's seating inside and outside, so choose to your preference. It's been beautiful outside so of course the outside seating was a wait so we decided on the inside so we can be seated right away. The staff was super friendly, which turns out she was in training. The menu has so many amazing options that it did take us a bit to decide. Our appetizers that we shared. Olive Tapenade- if you love olives, this is your dish. The flavors were on point and definitely something light to start your meal with. Yuca bites- absolutely do not pass this up! Such a creamy texture inside with a cheese dipping sauce. My main dish was the truffle avocado BLT with a side of truffle fries. I don't know if I'm immune to truffle because I'm always wanting truffle on everything. But I didn't taste or smell any truffle. It was good, but I think I would pass on it and I probably should've ordered something else. I was very much considering ordering Cubano de langosta but my husband talked me out of it. Since it was lunch, he figured I would like something simpler. I'm never listening to him again. Everybody at the table loved their meals, and with such large portions, we all had a to go box. Came here a few times and always great food and service. It is also one of the few spots that stay open late. They have daily drink specials too! Key West Bowl is fantastic...definitely recommend. Very flavorful and even if it doesn't look like a lot, it should fill you up. I get the avocado added which is absolutely worth it. This is one of our favorite places to eat when we are in town. My oldest son lives here and likes coming to eat here too. This is a cozy, Cuban themed place with lots of great decor and a southern vibe. There is a lot of great things on the menu. We started out with the truffle fries, which was so tasty! Then for entrees we had the Premiere burger, the Cuban Combo, the Linguini Carbonara with lobster and one without lobster, Caesar salads, house salad, and the Island Steak Sandwich. Food was really good, but the service was a little slow. The restaurant was very busy and servers were moving quickly so my guess was the kitchen was a little backed up. It happens. We got dessert this trip and tried the beignets, which were crispy and sweet. The prices here are very fair and the portions are large We love coming to Hemingway's when we visit my son, so looking forward to coming back soon. read more

If I could give it more than five stars, I would. Absolutely amazing from start to finish. We sat at the bar. Our bartender was Chris. He told us all the most amazing foods to eat. We had smoked wings that were delicious and tender with perfect seasoning, the barbecued ribs, which are a huge portion with delicious macaroni salad, and the pork tacos with red beans and rice. Went here per recommendation of our local hotel staff. Wish we would've taken pictures but here is the verdict. 1. Cheese bread bites - this reminds me of the bread they serve at Texas de Brazil. The aioli served with the bread was delish. 2. Guac and plantain chips - this has to be some of the best Guac I've tried. The plantain chips were so solid and fresh. If sharing this app, I'd suggest asking for extra chips. They give you about 5-6 but you could use more for the amount of guacamole served. 3. Caesar salad - I'd suggest skipping this. Was a good salad but it's a bit overpriced for what you'll receive. Think of one of those bougie Caesar salads that has full pieces of romaine and isn't fully chopped. 4. Cubano sandwich - this sandwich was awesome, well toasted, perfect flavor and everything we'd expect from this type of sandwich. Coleslaw was pretty meh so if you can upgrade, I'd suggest paying extra for something else (unless you're a diehard coleslaw lover). 5. Bread pudding - very rich, comes with about 5 pieces that have plenty of Carmel, condensed milk and whipped cream. Great desert choice if you have a sweet tooth. **FIFTH STAR EARNED FOR CONSISTENCY!** For me, I am not surprised Hemingway's Tavern has earned its fifth star for consistency. Reason I say that is because all the restaurants in Long Doggers Eateries Inc. I have been to are excellent. I am even willing to wager all the Long Doggers I haven't been to would be perfect scores over time given that the majority of their restaurants I have been AND they have perfect scores. With that in mind, Hemingway's Tavern is one of two unique restaurants outside of Long Doggers under the restaurant group, the other being Meg O'Malley's. After multiple other visits which includes the opening of their take-out window/area, Hemingway's Tavern is not only consistent, but they have improved. My favorites from them are their crab and conch cakes, conch soup, Cuban sandwich, and key lime pie. Please note I did not say they had the best of the best of any of the foods listed on the Space Coast or anywhere in general, BUT their food is consistently delicious abeit not being the best, still more than satisfactory. As one of the restaurants under Long Doggers Eateries, I cannot say enough how much I want people to try them out. P.S. - Previous review is still in effect as is. I absolutely loved the Key West Bowl with super tender and juicy mojo pulled pork wit chimichurri sauce and pineapple salsa over jasmine rice ! It was savory, sweet and a hearty portion. The fried plantains were a little mushy, but still good. The only thing I would have enjoyed better would be to have the plantains cooked a, server My fiancé kept saying how the linguini carbonara with blackened chicken was some of the best carbonara he's had in a long time! Had a early birthday dinner here. It was our first time and found it to be a quaint spot and very active place. Has a bar area that seemed to be bustling. Your choice of indoor /outdoor seating. We loved that they had the typical "ventanita" (side window) for a quick cafecito. Our meals were all delicious, and their pork dishes seemed to have a house flavor I had never tried before. It was neither too BBQ nor the typical lime and garlic flavor. But a cross between smoky and slight sweetness. I believe they have their on Guava concoction for seating the pork. Deein, our waiter, was wonderful to our party of 4! Yes we went for the food, the Tuesday margarita specials , great covered outdoor seating and very convenient private parking lot, however meeting Deein was an extra special bonus. He was extremely professional, pleasant, accommodating all of our needs and very attentive. The margarita was delicious. Our varied selections of food went just as well. We had the Cuban sandwich , a steak sandwich with side salad , house salad and a special which was a Chimichanga slightly deep fried with tender meat, rice, cheese and plantains that was not greasy and very tasty. Portions were excellent with nice flavors and not salty nor greasy. I even got an order of their plantain sweet bread pudding to go for a snack later and the half for breakfast. Their dessert case is right across from front door and you can engage with the dessert staff which can be very useful when making your decision. They were very happy to engage with customers. The bread pudding came with a caramel sauce, a delicious creamy white sauce that had a nice hint of vanilla and whipped cream all packed individually so you can choose your own toppings to drizzle or just eat plain because it is just that good! The bread is a combo of Cuban and Coconut Bread. Comes warm but delicious cold out the refrigerator next day or a quick microwave reheat. Deein didn't rush us either. We did arrive by 4 PM and left at 5:30. Have been there a few times now over the past year but this is a first review. Always consistently good food and professional waitstaff. You can tell everyone is trained in great customer service from the moment you are greeted to be seated to your exiting the premises. It's refreshing.
