10/10 -- Highly Recommend Cuban Island! We went to Cuban Island around 5 PM and were greeted warmly and seated right away. The restaurant is currently being renovated, and it's already looking really good! Our waitress, Barbara, was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and attentive. I started with a mojito, and WOW--it was honestly one of the best mojitos I've ever had! So refreshing and smooth that you barely taste the rum, but watch out... it can smack you in the back of the head! For dinner, I ordered the ropa vieja because I had been craving it so badly, and boy, did I find the right place to satisfy that craving! The meat was incredibly tender and juicy, with that rich, tomatoey sauce I had been looking for. It was absolutely delicious. My husband, of course, ordered the Cuban sandwich, and he absolutely loved it. The pork was so juicy and moist, and the bread was incredibly fresh and delicious. Then Barbara came by and told me about the $10 pomegranate martini special. Obviously, I had to try it--and that was delicious too! Overall, 10/10 experience. Great service, amazing drinks, and delicious, authentic-tasting food. We left very happy and will definitely be back. I super highly recommend Cuban Island! read more

Great Cuban food, friendly service and we love the live guitar music too! See you again soon

Love the food and ambiance. The quality and amount of food has gone down a bit but would recommend going back. Still my go to place

Restaurant was spacious but lacked latin flare, we was not impressed with the mojitos a bartender would make a great suggestion since our server was very proud she made our drinks that did not taste like club soda the appetizer was ok we had a tostada with meat on top and ordered crockets that looked like two small cheese sticks. Restaurant staff was polite and restaurant has lots of potential however it needs to be more authentic. I would not revisit. read more

I ordered a tres leches for my boyfriend's birthday and picked it up through DoorDash. The tres leches was $8 so I was expecting a decent sized dessert. The tres leches was served in a little cup maybe 2 inches in diameter. I ended up getting another tres leches from Publix which was half the price and better! read more

Amazing Cuban food! I visit Cuban Island every time I am in town. It seems to be a place frequented by repeat customers. I am not one of those people who are concerned about how long it takes to be served. The wait staff have been constantly courteous. If there is a delay, they have let us know the reason for delay. I am pleased to be a part of the repeat customer pool. read more

YUM! Came here on a Saturday for lunch and it was empty. 3 of us got the Ropa Vieja and 1 got the Fajitas de Carne A La Cubana. All entree came with beans, rice, and plantains - all of which were delicious. The meat was tender and flavorful. Big portion sizes for lunch - definitely enough for leftovers. Would come back! read more

Stopped in for dinner on vacation. The food was fabulous. We had shrimp cerviche, the Cubano sandwich and the lechon dish. They were all delicious. I also had the side salad with the Cubano, and I loved it. Great service too. It was our favorite meal on the vacation. read more

Food was okay, mild in taste and seasoning. I am used to no salt and the dishes needed more flavor. The food did look great on plate. The empanadas were the best dish. Service was good but they charge for hot sauce . read more

The best cuban sandwich around! The salad was very good as well! The food and service are always excellent here.

Every dish was very tasty. Warm, service-forward reception from staff, clean and comfortable space. An upbeat vibe with Latin music on the tv near the bar and smiling, customers. Our moros and shrimp ajillo were perfectly seasoned, and the ensalada mista was great-- fresh with just the right combo of flavors. Try their espresso martini (if you imbibe), it's has Liqor 43! Look forward to returning. read more

It is not close to real Cuban Food. So disappointed Mother's Day meal wasn't what we expected. Rice was fake, beans flavorless, ropa vieja was ok. But my mojito was lacking tasted like only mint. Cute place but not Cuban. read more

I adore this place. Small , quaint and delicious. I usually get close to the same thing every time , beef or pork. Today however I ventured down a new route. I am so stoked. I don't remember the exact name. Grilled fish and shrimp w scallops and linguine instead of penne. I have a new fave. The zesty tomato with the grilled seafood. Dayummm. We had the delicious mussels w toasted Cuban bread... Chardonnay yeah. read more

Fantastic little family owned Cubano restaurant! We were staying across the street and saw all of the great reviews and decided to try. We were seated right away, they have a small dining room with table service. Lots of folks filled tables, so they are clearly popular. We ordered a couple of traditional mojitos that were very well made and fresh. We were not too hungry so we split their sampler appetizer plate and a Cubano sandwich. Everything was absolutely delicious! Our service was fantastic, we had a tall Italian gentleman waiting on us who checked in often. If we were locals we would definitely be regulars here! read more

Grabbed some lunch to go. Nice place inside some bar seating and also table seating. They were friendly and fast. I got the grilled chicken salad the chicken was really good and cooked perfect. There wasn't much lettuce. The Lechon Asado was juicy and tender meat with great flavor. They forgot to add the plantains that came with it so I was a bit bummed about that. It did come with rice and beans. I also got a beef empanada that was super crispy and tasted good but there wasn't much beef filling. Overall it was tasty and did the job! read more

Five stars all the way! We enjoyed not only the classic Cuban bread but also another dish--I think it was called the Noche--and it was absolutely delicious. The ambiance was super cool, with a guy playing guitar that added the perfect touch. It was lively but still quiet enough to have a comfortable conversation. The food was amazing, and the service was even better. Nothing but a five-star experience--we'll definitely be back! read more

It is a must stop, really! I went in with lunch and delighted at my meal. I went old school and jumped on the Cuban sandwich with a side of maduros. Unbeknownst to me, the sandwich came with fries which were good but my waistline didn't need. read more

The absolute best Cuban restaurant for 20 miles in all directions. I love the family ownership here, and they always take care of us when we visit as if we were one of their family. The Cuban sandwiches are hands down the best in town (we've tried a lot to be able to say this!). But don't skip on the other traditional offerings. Weve eaten there a ton and brought a ton of friends and family in when they visit, and no one has ever had a complaint about a single dish. read more

This place has amazing food. Service was a little bit slow the day that we came during lunch. Everything and tasted incredibly fresh and authentic. Normally kimonos are very salty, but this one was not. It was right across from our hotel so I highly recommend this restaurant if you are in the Melbourne Beach area. Everything had a lemon zest flavor to it. read more

It was our first time here and found this place on Yelp with good reviews. The food was good but not worth the poor service. We walked in and a girl was leaning on a bar and pointed over to where we could sit, a minute later she brought us two menus. There was only one table of 4 being waited on at the time. We just sat there for a while cuz the girl started hanging out with another customer/friends. Some other server finally asked us what did we want to drink, so we got waters, we didn't get any straws tho. We ordered 2 Cuban sandwiches with salads, the food was good but it wasn't above average. The Cuban I ordered was supposed to be with sweet bread but it didn't actually taste like sweeter bread. When our food arrived we asked for a Sprite but we never got it. During that time only 2 other parties of 2 walked in for service...this place was not busy at all and a 2nd guy was helping clear off tables and close out checks. It took a while to get the check because our server disappeared. We didn't even want to order dessert and wait so long for it. The location was clean, Spanish music was playing, bathrooms were really clean, cute place. Again the service was the worst part read more

Cuban Island Restaurant 2910 N. Hwy A1A, Indialantic, FL 32903 5 Stars It seems I have broken the code on my random name generator after repeatedly disappointing Italian restaurants run by real Italians. The key to getting it to work properly is to type, as Tarzan said, "make Cuban food." And voila, the name Cuban Island Restaurant popped out at me. Glancing at the GPS, I knew this was automatically a win as I didn't have to go to the mainland. In fact, I didn't have to go far at all as I was there in two shakes of a snake's tail. Seated and handed a menu, my glorious service professional, Normat, soon approached me. Normat is everything a wait staff member should be and more. Normat was exceedingly helpful in going over the menu with me, and to that end, I placed an order for some Carnitas, the Churrasco and chimichurri plate, and one Cuban Sandwich. Enjoying the digs, I snapped a few pics and awaited Normat's return. Within a short amount of time, my food was in front of me. A wave of enticing Cuban aromas assaulted my olfactory senses like so many tasty atoms. With eager anticipation, I immediately dug in as soon as Normat cleared away. First I tried a sample of the Carnitas. I really love me some good pork Carnitas, and these were some of, if not the best, I have ever had. They were incredibly tender and immensely flavorful. Each bite was a veritable cornucopia of intermingling island flavors. Moving on to the Churrasco and chimichurri plate, once again, I was overwhelmed (in a delightful way) with Caribbean flavors. I could go on for pages about the complexity of the spice mix and how each seemed to enhance the other, resulting in a mountain of tastiness, but you should just stop reading and go there already. This brings me to the final item on today's glabrous sojourn on our charming barrier island: their take on the ever-popular Sandwich Cubano. As you can see by the picture, this included a mix of thinly sliced ham and roasted pork, oozing with melted Swiss with a pickle and mustard slathered on then pressed Cubano style and toasted to a sumptuous golden brown. This tasted as good as it looked and I was in foodie paradise! This place unequivocally serves some of the best Cuban food in Brevard County and the owner is Italian. I love that! The Big Boy says, "You want the best Cuban food, you got the best Cuban food. Cuban Island!!" read more

All I can say is the food is absolutely amazing! It is by far our favorite restaurant in all of Melbourne.

The venerable Cuban sandwich is the litmus test of tastes when comparing Cuban restaurants. So that is what I ordered on my first voyage to Cuban Island. Along with a cup of Black Bean soup. I was NOT disappointed! The sandwich was LOADED with meat AND cheese! A mighty meaty melty munchie! And a hearty soup. I gotta say the staff was really upbeat and cheery. I heard them constantly thanking folks and ensuring all their needs were met! Garrett was my guide and he provided some good recommendations, which I appreciated. Including the Caliente Hot Sauce! This place is an oasis on the Indialantic island! read more

Let me save you $100.00 by Not going to Cuban Island. This is My opinion of the place and mine alone. Go and waste your own $100.00 to validate my opinion. To most people "Surf & Turf" implies Lobster and Steak. At Cuban Island, their definition of "Surf & Turf" is 6 shrimp, a meat that can be described as slightly better than Steak-Umm. I don't know what other people ate that deserved the 4 and 5 Stars that I've seen, but I think that my 1 is being generous. I get that being Beachside "entitles" them to charge more, but Chipotle would have been a better option. To be fair, this was for 1 meal, 2 Margaritas, and 2 Flan desserts. Service was OK, nothing exceptional. Live and learned. I learned that night. read more

You have to love these small restaurants that you might just drive past if you're not paying attention! We started with the beef and chicken empanadas and they were so flavorful. This is definitely somewhere we will be coming back to! read more

We loved this quaint, locally owned and operated restaurant. The restaurant is clean and tastefully decorated. The service was fantastic. Our waitress was friendly and very polite. The food was outstanding. We started with the Cuban Sampler appetizer. It included two empanadas (one chicken and one beef), fried yucca, croquettes, ropa vieja, and picadillo. The sampler is served with Cuban mojo sauce. The waitress also brought out two different hand-crafted hot sauces that were excellent. I thought the orange was spicer than the red. My favorite items on the sampler platter were the empanadas and the ropa vieja. Ropa Vieja is shredded beef, and is very popular dish in the Cuban culture. My daughter and I shared the traditional Cuban sandwich with a side salad. The sandwich is a combination of ham, roasted pork, Swiss cheese, pickles, and mustard pressed between fresh Cuban bread. When prepared correctly and with quality ingredients this is one of the finest sandwiches anywhere. The sandwich here at Cuban Island exceeded my expectations. read more

The food and service was great, but the owner or manager (not sure who she was) didn't give me the right vibe. I'm a very seasoned traveler and restaurant eater and I wasn't feeling it from her.
