I really liked this place at first but my food to go wasn't so good. Super skimpy on the $24 Bison meat loaf 2 tiny tiny pieces and the risotto was like mush. I threw it away. -$24 Skirt steak was veiny and tough. Key lime pie was amazing. Bartenders are great. But really Really disappointed. Sucks because I liked this place. AN EXPLOSION OF FLAVORS! Our first time here and we will definitely be coming back many more times! It's hard to find a restaurant that presents dishes with such flavor. We ordered the shrimp cocktail (fresh and big), the key west bowl(full of flavor and great portion), the classic cuban(delicious) and finished with a cafe con leche. We were smiling the entire meal because of how yummy everything was! The staff is also so friendly and attentive. This has already become a favorite place for us. We were driving up from Boca to Orlando to visit with my family. We decided to stop for lunch and of course I came to Yelp for help. This establishment caught my eye and we decided to grab a bite here. There is both indoor and outdoor seating and but we're equally occupied when we arrived. We waited about 5 mins to be seated outside. The decor is cute and the staff was attentive. My husband had the bison meatloaf and I had a grill vegetable sandwich both were very tasty and a nice portion. I took half of mine to go and my sister enjoyed it later that evening. First, if you couldn't tell by my name I'm Hispanic and know about Latin American food. Hemingway's food was sabrosa. I had the pork on tostones appetizer and I wish they made that into a full dish. My son and I both grabbed for the last one--but since I was paying I got it. For my main course, I got the Cuban sandwich and it was terrific. I try Cuban sandwiches a lot when I'm in Florida and am generally disappointed. Usually the pork is just dry and the bread is bland--Hemingways has both of those issues licked ( my fingers too). My wife had the Key West bowl and we both thought it was very tasty. The presentation on the plantain chips was outrageously creative when paired with the black bean hummus. Their margaritas were run-of-the-mill, but their coquito was terrific. If you are in the area please give them a try. read more

Delicious meal and excellent service. It's a popular place and they don't take reservations so we had a 45 minute wait (but worth it!) Once seated, our server Megan was at our table quickly and was cordial and informative and, despite being busy, was always available and never felt perfunctory or rushed. Four stars for flavor, execution, and menu creativity, 3.5 for taste. Not sure yet since I don't think I've sampled enough of their menu to gauge where the menu falls overall. Their Cuban sandwich is too salty for me and not balanced. The pickles don't add enough punch to balance out the saltiness of the pulled pork. The cole slaw, on the other hand, was a flavorful surprise. I'm normally not a fan of mayo slathered cabbage and carrots, but this was definitely not that. If it's got any mayo in it, it's very lightly dressed. I think it had some pickled red onions and diced grilled pineapple that gave it a really nice zip and tropical flavor. I also had the octopus which, while super charred, did not hide how fishy it was. And this was fishy fishy not seafood-y. It was cooked tender and the accompanying chimichurri sauce was very nice. read more

The food was amazing! I had the lobster bisque, which was probably one of the best things I've ever eaten. I also had the Key West bowl, which was a really great take on a Ropa Vieja. My current favorite restaurant. I have yet to have a bad meal there and I hope Hemmingway's continues their excellent service and great food. They are changing the menu soon and there will be price increases due to the rising cost of fuel and of course food. My last visit was July 3 for a birthday lunch for my brother-in-law and it was excellent as always. Jess was our server and she was very nice. My wife and sister had the Cuban sandwich. I'm not a fan of pork so I can't say if it was good or not however my wife loved it. Other previous lunch companions enjoyed it as well. For those that have not been to Hemingway's, be advised they are usually busy during the peak dining times so be prepared to wait. I purposely try and go at off hours for lunch (around 2:00 pm) and there is usually no wait. We will be back in the near future. read more

What a cool little spot to stop and try, I went here on a Sunday with the fam, and I would have to say that it was a great decision. The service was very welcoming from the moment you entered the establishment, I ate out on the patio to enjoy the sun, and it wasn't too overwhelming. They were accommodating for different dietary needs, and my meal was delicious. They had plenty of great drink specials, and I thought it was cool that A portion of the revenue generated from the conch chowder went to helping the Bahamas. Absolutely love Hemingway's! Their menu is huge and there is really something for everyone. For brunch, my favorite is the Crab Cake Benedict, however the poached eggs the last couple of times have been a little off (the whites way too runny), but the crab cake is delicious. For lunch and dinner, you really can't go wrong with a Cuban Sandwich. The pork is mouth watering. I also LOVE the coconut rice - it's unlike anything I've found at other restaurants. There are some exceptions on the menu though. $3 cup of black bean soup was pretty tasty; the restaurant branded "hot"sauce they brought me to spice it up was very weak though. Couldn't even tell I added hot sauce, and I added a lot. The skirt steak sandwich was very good... tough and chewy, and a little small for $18 but very tasty. $5.50 for a can of beer is ridiculous unless you're in a stadium or venue where entertainment is being offered (IMO). Service was excellent, probably the best part of the experience. Ambiance was eh. couldn't really tell what kind of vibe they were going for... if it was the keys, as the write up suggests, I wasn't getting it. Been here twice now. Consistent friendly service and very efficient for a group of 6 or more each time. Nice atmosphere. Hemingway margarita and other drinks were good. The smoked wings were some of the best I've had. Also had smoked fish dip, baby back ribs, snapper tacos that were all very good. Reasonable prices for the quality.
