This is a zero star review! A technician confirmed an appointment then calls me 2 minutes later saying there is a conflict of schedule and tried to reschedule me for a different day. When I called the technician out for confirming the appointment even though there was a scheduled conflict he got defensive, gave me attitude and hung up on me. He then cancelled the appointment on me. Why would they confirm the appointment if he couldn't make it? It doesn't make any sense. I cancelled the service due to my experience and they tried to charge me a $50 cancellation fee. This company is a complete joke. I would never recommend anyone to use this company. Techs don't show and when they do, they often need to return to correct what they did. When escalated to Hello Tech, customer service is atrocious. I waited 31 minutes to speak with a supervisor after 7 failed attempts to correct the problem with their chat service. The supervisor informed me that they don't send experts unless you complain. Otherwise they assign the newest mechanic to your task (presumably because HelloTech then makes the most money off of the job). Her solution to 5 months of cancelled orders, no-shows and poor quality was to say she would flag my account to make sure competent people only responded. Not sure what the monthly fee is for if they don't even vet the professionals assigned. I will not be renewing this service. read more

I would not recommend HelloTech on the basis of: 1) Poor communication, while the customer service was responsive, the technician has never contacted me to schedule/confirm a date for installation yet the status of the job was moved to "job started" ... very shady because I can't cancel the order with that status. 2) Shady stats manipulation. The company has hidden all the poor reviews indicating that their technicians are not fully trained to do the job leading to a positive bias on their overall reviews and hiding away all the home damages from potential customers. read more

A NIGHTMARE AT BEST...Spent over $125 for a yearly contract...They bent over backwards before I gave them my Visa card....First time I used them the tech cancelled and waited 2 hours for 2nd tech.. Today I started calling Hello Tech needed my new Apple Computer fixed..It is now 10:55AM.....First call went out at 9:10AM....Got over 6 recordings.. Terrible. This company engages in fraud. The installer arrived at my house and stayed for 8 hours. After 8 hours the technician informed us he needed to return because the lights in my upstairs bathroom were not working. He returned the next day and after 3 hours the lights worked again. He conducted unlicensed electrical work. We paid for power source extenders but never got those, the technician decided to install outlets. We never agreed to let him perform unlicensed electrical work. He damaged every outlet he touched, installed a tv mount upside down and bent and left an open hole in my living room with a wire coming from it that wasn't supposed to be in the wall. Company is dismissive and disrespectful. They have still not refunded my money weeks later. Our electrician is still remediating their terrible work. I am an attorney and intend to file a lawsuit alleging violations of the Mass Consumer Protection statute (GL c 93a). This is a nightmare but be much more so if I wasn't an attorney. STAY AWAY. Company is very shady. Booked and appointment. Never received an email confirmation and then i received text asking for pictures of the location where i wanted work done. The next morning i received a text stating they couldn't do the work. No big deal. I requested a cancellation confirmation and was given a long drawn out excuse as to why they don't send cancellation confirmations. I have called my credit card company and the state attorney general's office to report them. The person via chat was extremely rude and ended the chat abruptly. On New Year's Eve, Andy from Hello Tech was the technician assigned to fix a sound bar that had stopped working. It took more time and effort than initially thought and we ran into the early evening, but we finally got it done. Grateful for the extra time and effort put forth, I wanted to give Andy a tip, but didn't have cash so I wrote him a check. Well, Andy then took that check, whites out all the check info and used that SAME check to write another check for $3,802 to a credit card company. I am still working with back to get funds returned. In early Jan I informed Hello Tech that there employee had stolen from me. I have asked NUMEROUS times for the results of there "so called" investigation into this matter with no reply. Last word was that it was "escalated " on Jan 23rd. Obviously this employee should not only be fired, but arrested. I was told they would haul away my old TV - they did not. The tech was 3 hours late. No notification. They charged $69. for cord concealment - when the holes were already there with existing cables. The tech left a HUGE mess - cables, nuts and bolts, multiply empty boxes, and trash. As a disabled Vietnam veteran and senior citizen I felt I was taken advantage of. They sent an installer that apparently doesn't know how to use a screwdriver. He stripped critical screws in my Nale Yest lock and as a result I can't access a panel needed to re-set the device. He didn't have the courtesy to tell me he messed up, and I discovered the problem when my lock lost connectivity and I removed the batteries in order to access the screws to remove the panel. And he didn't just strip the screw - he shredded to. There are no threads left. They refuse to honor their guarantee. And are giving me the run around. STAY FAR AWAY. read more

Before finding Geekatoo I used the geek squad and ended up spending hours on the phone while they walked me through the steps to fix my own computer. It was so frustrating. With Geekatoo, they come to your home, fix the problem in a flash and my day is not wasted. Love it! I will never use again! They came to my store to evacuate and somehow messed up my printer for tags. It's the week before Christmas and I have a retail boutique. My technician was extremely unprofessional from the very beginning. My appointment was at 12pm but he called at 11:40 and said he would be there between 1-2pm and would call me on the way. This was a very short notice to push my appointment and HelloTech would charge me if I had to move it back. He finally arrived around 1:30 and immediately said I did not buy the correct services. I wanted to take one tv off the wall and install another tv I just purchased. He called and spoke to someone at HT and I reluctantly agreed to pay for another $29. When the service says "Remount" I assumed the services would be for HT to take down an old tv and rehang the new one. Lesson learned that HT quickly blur the lines on what we are purchasing and the charge for a simple remount becomes very expensive. As soon as the tech took the tv down and went to install MY brackets he said the screws were not the correct size. I asked if he had any since I wanted to just finish the job. He quickly stated "You leave me a good tip and I will get you some" At this moment I knew this tech was not professional at all!! He opened his tool kit and there were all kinds of different sizes of screws to be used so obviously he has run into this issue before. How many times has he pulled this stunt with other customers? With my assistance, he installed the TV and quickly said "we good I am all done" I asked if he could help me put the cable box and two power cords behind the tv. He jammed them under the tv, quickly took a picture and stated "I have 7 other jobs to do and need to hurry" Of course as soon as he left, the cables fell and are now hanging below the tv. I am paying for a professional service and my tech rushed the entire job and left me very mad and upset. After paying $130 I received a the removal of a tv and poor job of hanging a new one. I do not recommend- I used the chat feature on the Geekatoo website to explain my situation. The guy I was speaking with said that it wouldn't be a problem to fix and scheduled a tech to come to my home the next day. I took time off from work and waited and waited but nobody called or showed up. When I contacted them to ask what was going on, they said since they couldn't "guarantee that my situation could be resolved, they were going to cancel my service order". That would have been fine if they had bothered emailing or calling to inform me of this. Complete disregard of customer time. I absolutely do not recommend! read more

I contact Geekatoo about having my TV wall mounted. They found a company in the area who could do it and they had contacted my within a couple of hours. The company that installed it did a great job and he was very helpful. The problem I had was the guy whom installed it was not sure about the price- when I asked how much I pay , he was like " Around $300". I told him I was quoted $179 from geekatoo and that a mount was 100 and thus I thought it would be $279- He said OK? I also told him I had already paid the company $179 via credit card but would rather pay him the full amount (he said this was fine and that he would contact geekatoo and let them know I paid him directly). He did contact them but it has taken two phone calls to try and get the money (the initial $179) refunded- The finished product was fine but the hassle of getting my money back and the installing company not really knowing the price was sketchy to me- GO ELSEWHERE read more

Quite disappointed. HelloTech/Geekatoo seemed like a great company - slick web interface, good online reviews, a vague guarantee that they won't charge your credit card until you're satisfied. However, everything seems to go downhill once you actually request service. I scheduled an appointment for TV mounting service - 3pm on a Friday. I took a half-day off work to make sure I was home to let the technician in. The technician texted me at 3:10pm to inform me that he could not make the appointment - no explanation given. I called Customer Support, who reluctantly rearranged the appointment for 5pm. 5pm came and went, with no word from the new technician. I reached out, and he told me that he was delayed, but he could try to install at 7pm. Confusingly, I then received a call from the first technician (the 3pm guy), who told me he could "maybe" do the job that evening, if I could supply the tools, and that "TV mounting wasn't really his area, but [he] could get through it with some help." This raised alarm bells... we'd expect a professional to bring their own tools, or know their own trade. Anyway, the 5pm guy (Steve) eventually arrived at 7pm. He was very genuine, knowledgeable, and and all-around nice guy. He got the job done quickly and efficiently. Steve is the main reason I bumped the review up from 1 to 3 stars. If I were to judge HelloTech on Steve's merits alone, then they'd get 4 or 5 stars. However, on the merits of HelloTech's scheduling, organization, and overall professionalism, they barely scrape a 1. They really need to get their act together when it comes to customer support, and assigning the right people to the right job. I was lucky that the first guy flaked so I ended up with a skilled professional. Overall, I was quoted $223 for the manual labor + a full-motion mount, with 10% off for my grievances. Even at ~$200, it's a pretty penny for a wasted afternoon/evening that left me asking, "How hard would it be to buy a drill and a mount and do this myself?" Caveat emptor, etc. read more
