Over the course of many weeks Leigh answered many questions that helped us figure out what made sense for our home & how to best prepare for the date of installation. A big thing: they came up with a new idea on the day of installation that works so much better for our space than our original plan (They offered the idea of having the outdoor speakers be attached to our deck railing and face us, rather than our original plan to attach them to the house and face out.) The result is much better than what we planned for! They also gave recommendations that best fit our needs, rather than ones that would give them most profit (told us to buy some items from third party for example). I bought a 60 inch plasma and decided I wanted it wall mounted. I checked around for reputable installers and came across Boston HiFi. I spoke to the owner, Lee, on the phone a few times to describe what I wanted and what charges there would be to also have an outlet installed on the wall because I wanted things as neat as possible. Lee was great to converse with and helped answer many questions I had. We set up a day and time for an appointment and his electrician and his partner came. I explained how I thought the TV should be mounted given my off-center seating habits and left the guys to do their work. I believe it took less than 2 hours for the electrician to do his work and install a Panamax surge outlet rather than a non-surge-protected outlet (extra money but given the expense I'd rather be safe than sorry) and for the guys to mount the TV and clean up. I love having the TV on the wall and not worrying about ugly white molding to conceal wires. All of the guys were easy to talk to, both on the one and when they came to the job, and I wouldn't hesitate to call them again or recommend them to a friend looking for a home theater installer. Hired Boston HiFi to wall mount 2 tvs in my home, and run the wiring through the wall. This included surround sound wiring for 1 of the TVs and a mount above the fireplace. A few obstacles were met along the way, which was partially the fault of the age of 1 of my TVs, but Lee did what he needed to ensure my setup was completed. Lee kept me updated throughout the process with information on how the install was progressing and to allow me the opportunity to provide input where needed. So I travelled to Boston to set up a new branch office for our company, and just my luck... the delivery of my two 75" TVs was delayed until the day before I was set to fly back to our head office, leaving pretty much less than 24 hours to set up two full meeting spaces, complete with wall-mounting TVs and assorted peripherals. To make matters worse, the contractor we had hired to set it all up was not available for that day. Disaster, right? Wrong! Because I contacted Boston HiFi! Lee was super accommodating and understanding of the bind I was in, so he rearranged their schedule to fit us in on a day's notice. Jeremy is a real pro, with more than 17 years experience in AV install and an impeccable attention to detail. Lee and his team installed two LED panel TVs and an in-ceiling surround sound system for me. I purchased the speakers, receiver, and a rack shelf from Boston HiFi as part of the package. All of the wiring is hidden away and the receiver, cable boxes, and Blu Ray are tucked away in a mechanical room. Everything is seamless. The service was excellent and timely, communication was very good, the products purchased were top notch, and the price was right. Couldn't be happier with the end product. I'm recently married, a new homeowner and someone who has always dreamed of having a home theater room I could be proud of. A room I could not only enjoy with my wife, but one that I was capable of showing off to my family and friends. Lee, with Boston HiFi exceeded my expectations on every front and made those dreams a reality. More importantly Boston HiFi was able to do this and keep me within the budget I originally proposed. With that said, there are a couple additional points I believe anyone who is reading a review should take into consideration (when debating about what company to hire). Lee devoted any available time he had, that was convenient to my wife and I, to come to our home and make sure that the installation was EXACTLY how we wanted it to be. The installation process was far more than both Boston HiFi and myself had originally anticipated, however that didn't matter to them or take away from the original bottom line Boston HiFi provided. The job was completed with professionalism and a noticeable desire to make sure that once completed it was something they were proud to put their name behind. Another very important point to note is that Lee at Boston HiFi was extremely helpful during the consultation period. For years I had researched what I ultimately wanted to purchase. Lee recognized the passion and research I had put into this project and was able to take into consideration my home, the room and my budget. Consequently, Lee proposed and convinced me to go with a product line I had never heard of before. I COULDN'T BE HAPPIER and thankful for the professional opinion that was provided to me. This is already one of those long reviews that I normally wouldn't read, so I'm hesitant to continue, however Boston HiFi deserves a couple more sentences of my praise. I was designing and installing a home theatre in our basement, when i came across Lee and BostonHifi. At that point I had done a lot of online research, spoken with a few companies, and visited a big box retailer. I thought I had pieced together the best solution for me, but it would involve multiple people to help - projector/screen, audio, and installation. The big, box retailer was offering in-home support so I tried them out for a consultation, but found the service to be too cookie-cutter. I then came across Lee and BostonHifi in my research. In our first call, he challenged some of my initial product decisions, and offered some good advice. I was intrigued. He offered a personal consultation to show me some options and understand my situation better. After that he took over and created a number of options. Lee knows his stuff and will tailor the solution to the situation and budget. He really helped balance what I can/should spend on the projector, screen, and audio. In the process he introduced a few new options that I had not been able to see/find online. What surprised me was that his pricing was very competitive. BostonHifi does not have a retail location, but that is a bonus, since they do not have that overhead to cover, they can pass along savings. Once we sorted out the list of equipment, we moved onto installation. Lee is actively involved in installation process, and he has an electrician he works with. They are quick, neat, and efficient - again adapting the solution to the situation. It truly is customized to what you want. One bonus I did not expect was how Lee stands by the products and service. Our receiver ended up blowing the HDMI board after a few days. Lee came right by, tested it out, and then swapped out the receiver on the spot - no issues. The level of service provided by Lee and BostonHifi is what sets them apart. You get good advice, good pricing, and personalized service that is rare these days. read more

I found Lee and Boston HiFi through the recommendation of a friend and also through Yelp. Occasionally businesses that have all excellent reviews unnerve me, because things that appear too good to be true often are. This was not the case with Boston HiFi. I work with contractors daily as part of my job, so I have fairly high expectations. They quickly analyzed my set up and needs, provided any additional material necessary (in this case it required a trip to Home Depot to pick up one other item), and worked efficiently to get it done. They even exceeded expectations by coming up with an inventive solution that resulted in no need for any finish work at all on my end. Lee and his coworker were very nice and personable, and you could tell they were the type of people that could get along well with anyone while remaining professional. The only reason I give them 4 stars rather than the perfect 5 was because we scheduled work for a Tuesday (on short notice mind you) and it had to be rescheduled at the last minute when a major client had a crisis along with a pending snowstorm. This was somewhat out of their control, and they did make that up by keeping in close communication and with the quality of their finished product. I rarely write reviews but had to call out how happy I am with Boston HiFi. I had them install 7.1 in-ceiling surround sound in my living room, mount my tv, run all the consoles to the basement for a clean appearance, and program a URC remote. Lee, the owner who writes for AVS Forums and has a great reputation, walked me through the whole process of selecting the right equipment and was honest about what I should want and what would be overkill and a waste of money for my space. Jeremy and Jimmy came for 2 full days to perform the install and were incredibly professional. As they cut holes for the speakers in the ceiling, they had mats on the ground and would vacuum the entire area before moving on to the next piece. They were also able to run everything without cutting any extra holes that would require patching. They asked my opinion when needed and were happy to explain any questions I had. I also ended up using Lee's Next Level Acoustics speaker line for the main LCRs and subwoofer and I couldn't be happier with that decision. They sound as good/better than far more expensive speakers. Everything about the experience was great and I can't recommend these guys enough. read more
