I am new to the service but the model is flawed in that they have terrible communication with the electricians they source. They also defer any issues to the electrician instead of assuming responsibility. Can you imagine if Uber decided you needed to deal with each driver individually if you had an issue??? There is a major pricing issue that they need to iron out before I could ever recommend. My quote to hang a 65" tv was $279. I ended up paying $477!!! Moreover, I specifically asked the Geekatoo agent BEFORE I AGREED TO IT how close the average quote is to the actual bill and she couldn't give me a number but assured me that they were very close...i said $20-$30 bucks and she said that sounds about right.... she was off by a zero as I paid $200 MORE (71% difference!) . One of the major factors is they will nickle and dime you on materials... for example, one of the egregious charges included a $55 HDMI wire (which I already had) AND when I asked for a receipt I was given a pdf of a home depot shopping cart order (i.e. NOT an actual receipt). The guy probably has the regular $7 in his van so banks $48 more on this ridiculous routine. To be fair, the electrician did a good job even though he had to leave mid-instillation to come back the next day. Quite disappointed. HelloTech/Geekatoo seemed like a great company - slick web interface, good online reviews, a vague guarantee that they won't charge your credit card until you're satisfied. However, everything seems to go downhill once you actually request service. I scheduled an appointment for TV mounting service - 3pm on a Friday. I took a half-day off work to make sure I was home to let the technician in. The technician texted me at 3:10pm to inform me that he could not make the appointment - no explanation given. I called Customer Support, who reluctantly rearranged the appointment for 5pm. 5pm came and went, with no word from the new technician. I reached out, and he told me that he was delayed, but he could try to install at 7pm. Confusingly, I then received a call from the first technician (the 3pm guy), who told me he could "maybe" do the job that evening, if I could supply the tools, and that "TV mounting wasn't really his area, but [he] could get through it with some help." This raised alarm bells... we'd expect a professional to bring their own tools, or know their own trade. Anyway, the 5pm guy (Steve) eventually arrived at 7pm. He was very genuine, knowledgeable, and and all-around nice guy. He got the job done quickly and efficiently. Steve is the main reason I bumped the review up from 1 to 3 stars. If I were to judge HelloTech on Steve's merits alone, then they'd get 4 or 5 stars. However, on the merits of HelloTech's scheduling, organization, and overall professionalism, they barely scrape a 1. They really need to get their act together when it comes to customer support, and assigning the right people to the right job. I was lucky that the first guy flaked so I ended up with a skilled professional. Overall, I was quoted $223 for the manual labor + a full-motion mount, with 10% off for my grievances. Even at ~$200, it's a pretty penny for a wasted afternoon/evening that left me asking, "How hard would it be to buy a drill and a mount and do this myself?" Caveat emptor, etc. read more

I Booked a technician to come out and install a Ring Doorbell and a Ring Flood cam. I was asked to pick two dates one preferred and one alternate. I did. I got a email and text confirmation. Then three hours later I got a text from a technician who told me he could not make those times and click on link below to reschedule. I clicked on link, which brought me to a Hellotech log in page which requires you to have a account which I didn't. So I had to call the 1-800 number. Once connected I spoke to a woman who did not what she was doing and kept asking me when I wanted to have them come out to my house. She offered me the same times the technician just cancelled for. I finally chose another time I left work early and waited for the technician. After an hour of waiting I got a text from the technician stating he was in a car accident and I would have to reschedule for the 3rd time. An hour after last text I got an email from my credit card company that Hellotech had charged my credit card for $178.00 and a $25.00 cancellation fee. I called Hellotech back and asked to talk to a supervisor and was told by Jess in customer service that a supervisor was unavailable and would call me back within ten minutes that was 3 hours ago. Booked Geekatoo middle of the week for a tech to come out to my house on a Sunday. Within minutes of the booking, I received an email stating my issue has been assigned to a technician. And they will be calling me within 2-3 hours to discuss my problem. Never heard from anyone. Called them on Saturday. Was told my tech would be out on Sunday, and the tech would call me later in the day. Never did. Called Geekatoo during my appointment window on Sunday. They claim the tech called me. Funny. The only time my phone was used was when I called them. They told me they would have someone call me back with one hour. Nope. 7 hours later, and nobody has called me. I can't believe it. I'm a new customer. The tech no showed for my first in-home appointment!! I called the support line and they said they'd call me back. No one called me! An hour later I called back they said the tech thought the appointment was for Thursday not Tuesday (today) so he released the appointment. No one ever told me! Extremely disappointed! Installer Charles O from Boston made a mess mounting my TV and Soundbar. The Soundbar wasn't centered to the TV nor was it level. He left wires hanging all around, after $298 that included in wall concealment. At the end of the service, no peripheral connections, he just left. Customer Service said I had too many issues to fix. Don't do it! If you think you are going to save money by hiring HelloTech, you are wrong. This company is a joke. The technician showed up at my new house, mounted the TV on the wall and proceeded to make 8 holes in the wall in an attempt to conceal the wires. He used a studfinder and then concluded that he couldn't conceal the wires because there was wood behind the wall. He then called his supervisor to report that he couldn't finish the job and left my house a mess! The drywall is damaged with holes and the TV cords are hanging down from the mounted TV. I filed a report on their website of the damage and it said I needed to wait 5-days for someone to get back to me. BUYER BEWARE. Don't make the mistake that I made. Forget GEEK SQUAD and the Apple store Genuises !! and call Geekatoo. !! I bought a ROKU at Best Buy a year ago. I couldn't get it to work on my TV. I called Geek Squad. They only work M-F and with a 4 hr window (i.e. take a half day vacation from work) . And Geek squad help desk can't even spell ROKU. So I gave up and called geekatoo. They do Saturday house calls, they figured out the problem in 30 min. They set up the appt. on line, they arrived 15 min early. Our problem was a blocked HDMI port from the moving company that got us here from NYC and we never would have figured it out. John (our Geekatoo) was very professional, diagnosed the problem, friendly and I would call Geekatoo before anyone else. They are the BEST in BOSTON. I so wish I could write a good review for Hello Tech, but alas, "working" with this company has been one frustration after another. The latest interaction was last night, when I opened a ticket to have a problem resolved that should have been resolved the previous time. So I opened a ticket, the technician took remote control and confirmed there was a problem with the mouse, touchpad and laptop working together. (The mouse can be moved, but won't click on some icons and links - neither will the touchpad) About two hours later my laptop went black. Zilch. No communication from the technician of what he had done. No communication from Hello Tech about what was going on. Apparently the tech's shift had ended and he had left! Seriously. This is the same problem as last time - about 10 days ago. The tech's shift ended and he left! Both times, I did not know whether the connection had been terminated. I didn't terminate the connection. Were they still on and able to see my hard drive? Who knew? I called the service number, spoke to someone who said that someone would get back to me asap. After about an hour I called back but no-one answered by call. Finally got a call from someone who said that they would escalate my wish to get a full refund and cancel my service. So my question is - what company in their right mind has a process whereby the servicing tech just leaves after their shift ends?? With no hand-off to another tech and NO communication to the customer. Go back to Business School Hello Tech and learn about providing good customer service and Best Practices - because you have none. read more

I want people to know that hello tech was a real disappointment. I called and ordered a technician to come to my home and work on my mac. I did receive an order number and was assured someone would call me before they came out, because I wanted to make sure they knew how to work on macs. I called the day they were supposed to come, because I did not get a call. I called the company and the first thing they did was try to convince me to do remote access instead of getting a technician. I don't want to have someone work on my computer remotely, which is why I put an order in to have someone come out. They told me when I put in the order that they had someone who accepted the job and would be there. When I called they said no one had picked up the job and they did not have someone coming. At least they should have called me. I had waited at home thinking someone was coming to do a job. They did not call and no one was coming. I don't think this service is reliable. read more

For the others stating a tech doesn't show up, that's the TECH at fault not Geekatoo. They are a start-up and use geeks who do their online testing and questions to determine who gets what assignments. The service is a joke. I scheduled an appointment for 1:30, at 2:30 I called the technician and left a message and followed up with an email. 30 minutes later he called and said his car was stolen. I called service and they said he reported it was broken down. Over the next few hours, I was told they would get someone out today. Next they schedule an appointment for tomorrow. They have consistantly provided wonderful service. I had a computer problem that stumped Everyone, other people basically said "oh well". Geekatoo did NOT give up. They eventually solved my problem and then came to the rescue a few months later when I was having a problem with windows 10. I highly recommend them. Warning To All Beware! The 1st guy they sent out to hang my TV did not have the TV secured to the wall! Then the guy that installed my printer did a good job putting it together so that it came on, but my computer keeps giving me a message every time I want to print that says "host busy". That's when the guy told me he could fix it but that it would be so many hours of work because he would have to start from scratch because he doesn't know how they have the network configured right now.
