We like to try new to us BBQ joints and decided to give this place a go. We really thought this would be a great place based on the rating here on Yelp. I'll start out by saying that this place is really small. The pictures make it look bigger than it really is. The lady who took our order was very pleasant. However the BBQ meat was a HUGE disappointment. I ordered the 2 meat (brisket and chicken) plate which came with two sides. Both of the meats were extremely under seasoned and virtually flavorless. I had to use a lot of black pepper just to get some flavor out. Considering that they use pits to smoke the meat, a smoke ring was nonexistent. It appears that they cook boneless and skinless chicken breasts because all I got was three sliced medallions of the meat. In my opinion, chicken needs to be smoked bone in with the skin to add flavor to the meat. The brisket was bland and flavorless without adding any sauce. My two sides were yams and collard greens. The yams are basically just cooked sweet potatoes that have been mashed. They were good but nothing to write home about. The collard greens were pretty good. Please note that they do not have any vinegar pepper sauce on hand. They do not have fountain drinks, but they do have ice tea and lemonade ($2.50 per cup). They also have canned drinks and bottled water for sale. We didn't bother to have dessert.
Green beans, collard beans, cabbage... not to mention the brisket! Every time we eat Sweetie's I'm fully satisfied. Employees are super friendly and there's seating available outside if you're up to dining al fresco. The flavors are deep and cooked tender, juicy, and just right. The dining area inside is limited but again, you have an option to sit outside if you're good with the Texas weather dujour. ;)
Small hole in the wall with really good BBQ. We came after lunch hour and had the place to ourselves. Ordered the brisket sandwich and the sides were the beans, potato salad, corn, and Mac n cheese. The brisket was outstanding! Moist, flavorful with good smoke and a healthy portion. The sides were good, but the beans really stood out.. sweet bbq beans that weren't too sweet. Can't wait to Come back here and try the ribs, chicken and the sides of collard greens and fried cabbage! Just have to take some gas pills with that last one .. give this place a try, the owner is such a nice guy and very inviting...
Found Hello Sweetie on Yelp and it had good reviews. Very limited parking and we actually parked across the street at the market. Not much signage. I've actually driven by the location multiple times over the years and did not know they exist. Staff was very friendly and helpful in ordering our meals. Prices were normal for BBQ. We ordered brisket, sausage, and pulled pork. Very good flavor and very little fat. I enjoyed the brisket and sausage without bbq sauce. It just was not needed. For sides we had potato salad, candied yams, cole slaw, and collard greens. All were above average but my favorite was the collard greens. Overall the experience was good and everyone enjoyed the food. Hello Sweetie is defense on 'My Keepers List'.
Absolutely the best! No need to drive into Round Rock & Austin anymore. You cannot beat the price. We got the 3 meat combo with a sausage, pork, and brisket. We had the coleslaw and beans as sides. Our son had the sandwich special. He ordered the brisket sandwich and macaroni as his side. The beans were the best we have ever had. They have tomatoes, some pieces of brisket, and bbq sauce in them. The macaroni was made with the perfect blend of cheeses. The coleslaw was perfect with just the right amount of tang and creaminess with a hint of sweetness. Finally the employees and owner are so incredibly nice! They go out of their way to make you feel special. Wish we would have known about this place a long time ago! We will definitely be back for more!!!!!
We stopped by here for lunch on our way to visit Inner space cave. Man, glad we stopped by. It's one of those hole-in-the-wall places where service is personal, food is great, and atmosphere is laid back. When we came in, we were greeted by "sweetie" and took our order on one of the tables. We paid after we ate. Food was not bad and we all chowed it all down. Being a blues fan, liked have blues music playing in the restaurant. Can't think of a thing to change in the place. If you're at the caves, treat yourself to the closest BBQ (about a mile) when you're in the area.
The best bbq I've had in TX. usually I don't like tx style bbq but my husband does so I oblige and tagged along with him to several places. Hello Sweetie is the first time I actually reallyyy enjoyed the meal. I got the ribs and sausage place with Mac n cheese and Cole slaw. The ribs were the star of the show. My issue with bbq is that it's too oily and heavy but these were SO SMOKY AND DELICIOUS. not heavy and greasy at all. The smokiness definitely made this bbq joint stand out. Same thing with the sausage *chefs kiss*. The mac n cheese was a slightly sharp cheddar flavor which I loved. Cole slaw was fresh and crunchy. My hubs had their brisket which I tried and that was delicious too. Pro tip: smother their AMAZING bbq sauce over the meet. Eat everything with your hands. Put sausage in a slice of bread and eat like a hot dog with Cole slaw topping on top. Service was wonderful too. Felt like a family owned business. Thank you sweeties for converting me into a bbq lover!
I was in town for an appointment and wanted to stop for lunch before heading back to Houston. I was able to small my way to the location( along with GPS) and when we arrived were were greeted very friendly and the BBQ was GREAT! The brisket melted in your mouth and the ribs were not tough and I love that they done put any sauce in the food, it is at the table but the true test is no sauce. Also they has a smoked chicken salad on the specials for the day and the manager brought out a sample for us to try, needless to say I left with a quart of it to-go. Ill be back on my next trip to Austin.
Pulled Pork was amazing. Tasty Brisket and Sausage but the Pulled Pork stole the show. This is a hidden gem tucked into the corner next to the gas station. I've driven by many times without noticing. Stop in and give them your business. You'll get some great food in return. They'll even great you with a heartfelt "Hello, Sweetie!".
I can't figure out how the rating is this high. Everyone inside was friendly, but the food just isn't good. At all. I walked in and ordered a chopped brisket sandwich to go. I paid and was told to wait in my car. That was odd since it only takes a couple minutes, at most, to put together a chopped brisket sandwich. After about 10 minutes in my car, the gentleman at the counter walked out and apologized that "they got to talking and it will be a few more minutes". It took another 5 minutes. Fifteen minutes to receive a chopped brisket sandwich is unacceptable, but I would have overlooked it if the food was good. It was not. The brisket was soaked in sauce and had grilled onions in it (I had asked for no onions). There was some smoke flavor, but it basically tasted like the BBQ you buy in the bucket at Sam's club but a little worse. I think this was done in an oven with liquid smoke. There were several pieces in the brisket that were so hard and overcooked that I couldn't chew them. That was a first for a chopped brisket sandwich. Also, the sandwich wasn't even lukewarm and it takes me 5 minutes to drive from the restaurant back to work and get to my office. This is the second time I've tried this place and the food isn't good. It's not a 4.5 star restaurant - not even close. I think people just don't know what good barbecue tastes like or the reviews on here are friends and family of the owner. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. The one star is because the food and the service were so bad. The food was about a 2 star rating.
Amazing food. Swear it comes right off the smoker and onto my plate. Pulled pork and collard greens were fantastic! Love how they greet you with, "Hello Sweetie" when I come in!!

WHY DID WE WAIT SO LONG! Seriously... we live so close and drive by all the time and finally dropped into today for lunch... lemme tell youuuuuu!! Hello, Sweetie ain't playin... BBQ was amazing, we got the brisket, chicken, and sausage... and the veggies !! Collard greens were AMAZING and the geeen beans .... STAHPPPP! This local spot hit it out of the park and we cannot wait to come back !! Places like this sweet hole in the wall should have a line out the door with support because they are a dying breed! Loves the friendly service and attentive help when ordering... seriously, can't say enough good things !! GO NOW! read more

The brisket sandwich was dry the Mac and cheese was very gritty. I do not appreciate it I spent 25 and tipped 5 dollars bad first impression. One picture is lighted by my camera so you can see how gritty it was. read more

This is a true definition of 'diamond in the rough' at the corner of South Austin Ave and Leander crossing in the heart of Georgetown, TX. This is about a small a restaurant as you can get, but that doesn't have any reflection on the quality of the food... it is all very tasty! Be advised there are few booths and four stools at a counter and two small tables outside should you wish to dine-in. Pulled pork sandwich was terrific with a slightly spicy barbecue sauce and pineapple-pepper relish added a whole dimension of flavour. A very gracious proprietor who greets every customer with a cheery "Hello, Sweetie" or "Hey, Y'all!" adds to the down-home, cozy comfortable, pull up a chair and sit a spell atmosphere. From what I heard this place started out as a dessert shoppe. Cookies and ice cream are also featured menu items. Whenever you'll find yourself in the Hill Country of Texas, stop in for some slap yourself silly good food and a homey welcome at Hello, Sweetie BBQ & More! I should have listened to the one star reviews. Tried three meats. Brisket was bone dry and looked like it had been reheated and possibly not cooked that night, pork rib was OK but end was chewy like jerky. Pulled pork felt old and tired. Potato salad was good with nice mustard tang. Collard greens lacked seasoning. It was a huge letdown based on the 4 stars on yelp. read more

Tucked away in a small shopping center is a little gem. Small dining room, maybe 6-8 tables that sit 4 people to a table. In the back ground is the soft sounds of blues. Relaxing and inviting. Bottle of regular BBQ sauce and a bottle of spicy with a roll of paper towels on the table. We order the chicken breast sandwich and the Brisket Sandwich with a side of Fried Cabbage, green beans, baked beans, red beans and rice, and the collard greens. I wanted a full test of the sides. The brisket was on point, great bark, great smoke ring, great taste, and tender. I wouldn't put it on my top 3 (Snows, Franklins, other) but it would get me to come back when in town. Probably wouldn't get the chicken breast sandwich again, but why when you have perfectly good red meat. Lets talk about the sides. That's where the 5 stars got. On brisket, probably a 3-4 star stand alone. (I'm being super picky, if it was thin cut it would have been a 4 easy) but I wouLd come back again and again just for the baked beans, red beans and rice, and the collard greens...those collard greens are AH-MAZING... all I can think about. Next time I'm getting a side of Brisket, side of sausage (jalapeño) a few ribs, a pint of beans and a quart of those soulful, delicious, scrumptious, and delightful collard greens. You should give this place a try. It's hard to find, have your eyes peeled. But I'll be back. You will too... I need those collard greens... read more

The moment I heard the dial tones of a microwave I knew this was going to be bad. My brisket, sausage and Mac-n-cheese was clearly microwaved to reheat. I could taste the thin film of plastic from the radiation my plate received. The brisket tasted like dry, unseasoned pot roast. If this place gave half a damn they would close their doors and stop torturing Texans with this pitiful excuse of "BBQ". read more

Here's what Hello Sweetie is not: It is not large enough to seat even a small crowd, It is not fancy, It is not for people who dislike smoky, flavorful food. If you're still with me, listen to your Yelp buddies, turn on the GPS and GET THERE! Hello Sweetie is a tiny, humble place that serves up big flavors at a good price. The brisket is a great mix of juicy, smoked meat with a wonderful bark that left such a wonderful flavor in my mouth it gave me goosebumps! The jalapeno sausage is so good I set some aside to enjoy later with a cheese plate as a snack. I'm a potato salad snob (or finicky with my potato salad depending upon on how you look at it). This potato salad is in my top 3 all-time. Great texture, properly seasoned with a zesty kick (dill?). You can see the rendered meat in the dark, baked beans which some how straddle a line between Boston beans and Texas BBQ beans -- and it is GOOD! read more
We were passing through Georgetown and my wife found this gem on Yelp. The place wasn't super huge or super fancy but the food was awesome. I really enjoyed the pulled pork and I am not usually a big fan of bbq pork. The brisket was very good as well. The slaw was very good and a different taste than I have had. It was able to impress my wife who's from KY and very particular about her coleslaw. The red beans and rice was unique. The sausage was good I guess it might be great for someone who loves bbq sausage. I generally don't like sausage but this was good as well. The spicy bbq sauce was awesome I loved it. I used it even on my red beans and rice. They offer hot dogs and bake potatoes w bbq meat on them as well. They sell by the pound and I saw they had a special on turkey legs and corn bread that day. While the restaurant was small the tastes were bold and my wife and I really had a great time. We will visit again and I wish we lived closer. Might have to see if we can make up a reason to be in the area again soon. read more

A lot of BBQ places will just feed you a picnic sausage. This is that good handmade sausage link. The heat is perfect. Not loaded with cheese like some. Just good spicy sausage. I would drive clear across Texas for this sausage. I also had the pulled pork which was also amazing. read more
The proprietor welcomes every patron when they walk in with a jovial 'Hello Sweetie!" - even the guys! I like this place already! The eatery is super easy to miss - a small sign compared to the huge MetroPCS one next door, so drive slow or you'll miss it. It is a very small restaurant with a few tables inside, a few more outside on a deck in front of the newly crafted smokehouse. Menu on the wall, order at the counter please. Fairly new to Q (has only been doing it for a little over a year; used to only serve ice cream and desserts), job well done so far sir! So, I had perused a couple of other reviews and the husband and I decided it would be best to get one pulled pork and one brisket sandwich so we could share - sample both (~6 bucks a sandi). Decided to make one a "combo" - for just $3 more it included potato salad, beans, a drink of choice, AND a cookie! Quite the bargain! THE FOOD: Pulled pork sandwich: Large, moist, yum. Brisket sandwich: Ditto. Messy to be eat, but who cares. Potato salad: Good texture, creamy. A-OK Beans: Scratch made, slightly spicy, al dente. Good. Oatmeal raisin cookie: Soft, sweet. Soda: Big Red....didn't know they still made BR - great w/ BBQ. House made relish a.k.a. REAL-ISH: Put it on everything...and lots of it...peppers, pickles, onions ....I don't know. Just gotta have it! OVERALL: I have not met a nicer business owner in a long time. He is clearly passionate about fine tuning his new Q craft and catering to all of his customers needs. Also, great place for kiddos! Still has the Blue Bell, kids combo about 3 bucks, and there's a wheel they can spin when they come in after they tell chef a nice thing they did for their parents today. Cute. Recommend. read more
