It's as if they're trying to keep this place a secret from the tourists. It also doesn't help that their parking lot has only five spaces, but there is some street parking. Inside it looks like someone tried to repurpose their garage into a makeshift restaurant and grocery store. All the sides are served out of several crockpots and the meat is stored in a dutch oven. The sides were nothing special, the beans were average and the potato salad could've come from Walmart. The corn and green beans were clearly out of a can. I got the two meat plate for $20. I decided on chicken and ribs (brisket is $2 more). The chicken was fairly moist and the ribs were decent, but the barbecue sauce they ladled over it was overly sweet with no tang. I was going to get the three meat plate until I saw the brisket sitting in the Dutch oven. At least when they ran my credit card, the tip screen was not there waiting for me. Glad I stopped in, but it's not a place I would come back to. If you're a tourist, there are better places to check out. Informative photos included.

The good news is that it's worth seeking this place out which sits a mile north of Holland. I was surprised to see a three meat plate with two sides for just $22, I expected it to be more. I actually got there after 4 PM and they still had plenty to choose from. Needless to say, I had to try the trifecta of ribs, brisket, and sausage. After he ran my card, I was expecting the tip screen, but that didn't happen so just toss a few bucks in the tip jar. There is some covered seating outside, but it's best to get it to go in the summertime. The menus are posted on the outside of the truck and the prices are very reasonable. The brisket had a decent smoke ring and was unbelievably moist. The ribs were fall off the bone smoky good and the sausage was firm, but not spicy. The sides were good and the coleslaw had a nice vinegar character with a touch of sweetness. The side of beans had onions and brisket mixed in and were really good, although a pretty small helping. The barbecue sauce is a little pudding-like that has a decent amount of vinegar to counteract the sweetness. It is good 4 1/2 star barbecue, but the price puts it in the five star range. It's definitely worth seeking out if you find yourself in this neck of the woods.

The brisket had great flavor, the Fireballs had the perfect meat-to-pepper-to-cheese ratio, and that sauce was SO good! The charro beans were fantastic, and the collard greens were AMAZING. Kirby was incredibly friendly, kind, and welcoming. You can tell there's genuine care and love behind the food and the way customers are treated. And the portions?! We couldn't even finish everything! We took food home for our husbands and STILL had leftovers. The amount of food you get for the price is hard to beat. We also got to meet some really sweet people from the community, which made the visit even more enjoyable. Great food, great portions, great prices, and wonderful people. I ate outside because I wanted to try it fresh. It would be nice to have some indoor seating to be in the AC. I believe the young lady who helped me was possibly the owner/pit masters daughter. She was very kind, welcoming, attentive, and informative. I had a 2 item plate, of course the pork ribs and chicken leg quarters, potato salad, and rice salad. Spicy and regular sauce. Came with 3 slices of bread, pickles, white onion, some pickled jalapeños slices and a Diet Coke for approx $18. The pork ribs meat was tender and fall off the bone, but not the overly soft, the just right you want for smoked ribs. Great amount of seasoning. I tried both the spicy, and the regular (sweet) sauce and honestly, whatever rub they use for the smoke, is perfect as is. I preferred without sauce. The chicken was also very tender and juicy. Equally flavorful. Tasted like the same rub or flavor profile. No sauce was needed. The skin was soft, but not chewy. Delicious. I won't comment on the potato salad much as I am not a huge fan of potato salad in general. I did enjoy a few bites to reset my palate between the ribs and the chicken. The Rice salad, is something I've never had but if you're curious, it's like potato salad but with rice instead of potato. When I left the only thing I was wishing was that there was indoor AC dining or fans outside to keep flys away and that it had consistent hours. Most places online list it open for dinner but all of their own marketing list 11am-Sold Out. This makes it hard to plan a trip for anyone that wants to try them from out of town. This is the reason for the one star deduction. Food is 5 stars. Service is 5 stars. Check them out but call first.
