The movers told me upon arrival there was a $400 tip required, which was 25% of my bill that was never previously discussed. When I contacted the company directly I was told that is not their policy. Then the mover came back and asked me "why I had to contact boss , I have a lot of stuff". He then demanded that 25% tip up front. And to make this clear, there is NO ENGLISH, I was advised by the company if I want to communicate use google translate, so all was discussed typing into phones and pointing. I couldn't get them out of here and way from my stuff fast enough. *This review is based on my moving experience on 12/12/2023 My move from San Francisco to San Jose was smooth thanks to Hello Movers. The contact person was very responsive and quick, I was able to book the move a week before my moving day on a weekday. My booking was at 8am for 3 hours with 3 movers for a 1 bedroom; I have a HUGE couch and I was so glad I booked 3 people instead of 2. The movers were very professional and they moved fast to wrap the furniture and get those to the moving truck. Bonus points for movers being super friendly! The move ended exactly 3 hours as expected, I was amazed by their efficiency. Things to keep in mind: - Although my booking was at 8am, the movers were an hour late (perhaps due to traffic?) I was informed by the contact person so I was okay with it. - The movers piled boxes on a dolly, be sure to ask them to be careful when going down to the stairs and corners, I saw a small chip off the upper stair ceiling after the move. - Furniture was wrapped very nicely, I have CB2 and IKEA furniture but if you have more expensive ones, be sure to tell the movers to be careful/slow down since they work for efficiency. They must have two (very different) crews, judging from their reviews. Our team arrived with 1/4 of their truck filled with their boxes and tools leaving too little room for our move. We had previously fit the contents of the storage in one truck with a different mover - so we know it could be done. They said they needed a second truck and I declined. I used them a second time to put things in storage. Unfortunately, we had another language barrier however the fact that the services rendered is superior to other local movers. No games, no dishonest practices and the day they arrived and we had to reschedule due to language barrier was not charged. They were quick to reschedule me and we met at the storage unit versus where I live in a downtown highrise. It's confusing because the entry and the dock have different addresses. These 2 gentlemen were extremely patient and kept their cool during the ordeal with Uhaul Storage and my apartment dock system. Definitely would use them again. $50 dollar charge for dumping furniture to land field. I had some items not suitable for donation and the cost for them to take it and dump the furniture was $50 a piece. This cost less than Junk Haulers or waiting on third party "Task Rabbit" charging an enormous prices because it requires 2 men to remove large junk.
