The place is constantly busy and has a very cute interior- perfect for pictures I ordered one of their new drinks- the dragonfruit green tea with lychee jelly- it was fresh and the combination of dragonfruit pieces and lychee really added to the textures of the tea. It was pretty pricey though, compared to other bubble tea places ($8) I was disappointed with the lack of vegan/vegetarian options. Got delivery from here and it was exactly what I wanted. I got the cold noodles (perfectly cooked noodles, thinly sliced and chopped cucumber and carrots served with a nice creamy peanut sauce on the side, i combined that sauce and the sweet and sour.. amazing), got the beef wontons, they were ok, they didn't travel too well but once heated up were good. Food so good, on our 3 day stay in Chinatown, Chicago- we came here twice. There are a few different ways to order, pickup or delivery directly off their Yelp page is the most convenient! Our hotel was about .5 miles away, and we ordered on the Yelp app from our hotel room and by the time we walked over- our food was ready! They also have kiosks that you can scroll through the menu and order + pay at. There are tons of customization options like spice level for food, sweetness levels on their boba drinks, and add-ons that is easy to sort through on their digital menus! The food here is uniquely Taiwanese with a mix of flavors and textures that feels familiar to home cooking across a wide range of asian cuisines. The pork in the bentos here compares to the Filipino pork adobo, or kai pa lo from Thailand. Melt-in-our-mouth tenderness that only time braising in umami broth can do. The bentos come with rice, Taiwanese kimchee steamed bok choy, fried tofu, and a tea egg. The acid from the vinegar in the Taiwanese kimchee brought a brightness and crunch, the steamed bokchoy brought an earthiness that grounded the dish... and there's just something about tea eggs that gets me in my feels. Taiwanese cold noodle with chicken steak is an example of food that I've never had before yet it tastes like my childhood. It's a cold rice noodle + pickled carrots and cucumber with a creamy sesame sauce on the side. I ordered it spicy, so the fried chicken cutlet had a good dash of spicy pepper seasoning on top. You order through GrubHub for take-out and delivery. The indoor seating area is pretty small. There is kiosk for you to place your order. I placed a take-out order and I was sure where to grab my order. The app said my order was not ready but I went up to the cashier and asked for my order which I was ready. I ordered a brown sugar boba, popcorn chicken, and spicy wings (for the hubby). My husband heard I was going there and begged for spicy fried chicken. The popcorn was a hit and my boba was delicious. Although far from my home, my friend and I drive a long distance to hit Hello Jasmine as well as a dumpling place in Chinatown - totally worth!! The fruit tea drinks here are so refreshing and delicious. I got a peach green tea with 50% reduced sugar, and it wasn't overly sweet but carried the full taste. They also have soo many food options that we enjoy, like their popcorn chicken and Taiwanese noodles. The drinks were in fact so good that we stopped by again before leaving Chicago to take some to go. Lots of precautions are being taken because of coronavirus. You're obviously required to wear a mask to go inside, and you enter directly onto a kiosk instead of to a person at the register. Make sure to bring your own hand sanitizer as they didn't have any nearby. If there is a long queue ahead of you (there definitely was when we were there), they will text you when your order is ready after 10-15 minutes. Hello Jasmine is now my favorite bubble tea spot in Chicago for a few reasons, namely: - The tapioca: consistently the perfect chewiness and sweetness. Nuff said. - The tea: stronger than a lot of your typical boba shops but not too strong. Get that powder bubble tea out of here - you can taste the realness. I also appreciate that they have a couple less common teas - I can highly recommend the tieguanyin tea if you're into oolong. The high mountain milk tea is nice as well. As for food, the fried chicken here is top-notch. And I'm talking ALL the fried chicken dishes...popcorn chicken, fried chicken steak, grilled chicken steak (I include this one because even though it's called "grilled," I'm pretty sure it's still fried because I refuse to believe a grilled chicken can taste that good). The seasoning (similar to seasoning I find on all the Taiwanese fried chicken dishes I've had) is insanely addicting. Plus you can choose how spicy you want it (I always max it out - not that spicy). Interesting variety of boba and tea unlike the traditional ones you see elsewhere. Tasty getaway from Chinatown area. The Brown Sugar Boba Milk Tea does taste like a Thai Milk drink with slight twist to it. It was super crowded with many younger 20-30 something Asian age group. I good hangout for that age group. There is not much sitting place and so we stood to get our drinks and left. I think you get 16 ounces of drink for $5.75. They have about 20 or so snack and small dishes of food you can order for a quick bite as well. There is a kiosk if you want to order on your own for quicker service. I woUld suggest to give them a try. I am alway generous and in flavor of a restaurant in my reviews. Brown sugar milk tea: The drink is not only aesthetically pleasing, but it also taste very delicious! I appreciate how the drinks are served in one perfect size. The combination of the milk tea and boba doesn't taste too sweet together. Signature fruit tea: I don't normally opt for the fruit tea at boba places but their signature fruit tea is 10/10!! The boba here is just okay. I think the boba texture is a tiny bit overcooked. But the food here is great! We got two of the bentos and they reminded me of home so much. With the pork/chicken cutlet over rice and veggie sides. Everything was delicious. The tofu was also great - I liked that they came with the taiwanese kimchi. What impressed me the most is the cold sesame noodles. I have been searching for a good replica of this dish in the US and this is probably the closest that I've tasted here to the real thing. The sauce is pretty legitimate. The first time I ordered the noodles it was a little underdone but the second time was right on point. I've also tried the corn - which, unfortunately, I would skip. Have come to this location a few times. The bubble tea and food are delicious. The only reason one star is being subtracted is because of the service quality. Orders generally take a pretty long time. One member of our group ordered popcorn chicken and a drink and we were waiting so long (40 minutes?) that the chicken (which was made first), became soggy. We had checked up to see if the order was ready every 10 minutes or so just in case the order was lost. No refund was offered by the manager when we did not want the chicken anymore and stated they could not do anything about it. I almost always get the jasmine green milk tea (alternating with the high mountain oolong tea). Their teas have a strong flavor and you can customize the amount of sugar/ice. Their food is also decent and they have many street food items on the menu. Hubby and I like to share the popcorn chicken. The grilled tofu and fried fish tofu is just okay from what I remember. The special braised pork rice bento is great (braised pork, bok choy, sausage slices, soy sauce egg, pickled mustard greens). If you watched YouTube you might think they are still located in the underground food court in Chinatown but that is not true. They have moved a few blocks away but still close enough to walk to. We parked in the public parking lot and walked there to grab some boba drinks and you can't forget the popcorn chicken! My wife and I got the Taro Milk tea and the brown sugar boba drink along with their popcorn chicken spicy level. The boba drinks were great! You can adjust the ice and sweetness level. We both just got regular sweetness and ice. The drink were satisfying, we ate the popcorn chicken on our drive back to Milwaukee. I would definitely go back and try their other drinks and food items. Green milk tea passed my taste test and if I hadn't just ate hot pot, I would have been eager to try as many of the food options as possible on their menu because it's very Taiwanese. Chicago is starved of Taiwanese cafes so I hope they stick around but also hope for more "competition". A few of my friends have been here before and they liked the food including the popular popcorn chicken. Interior was very simple and had a decent amount of space and tables. In our new favorite row of dessert spots on Chinatown, because of the hard to find parking (they have a free lot). This one spot might just be my favorite, I've tried the two other stores on either side. This one has a great atmosphere and they also have snacks. We ordered the brown sugar milk tea ($5.75) and the mango milk cloud ($5.50). Pricey for what it is, but the size appears decent and the flavors are good. The cups are narrower and thinner than other places but it does give the appeal of a taller bigger drink. We got both drinks with regular ice and regular sugar and it wasn't overly sweet, some places the regular sugar is too sweet but this was about right. Next time we will have to come back to try the Taiwanese snacks. They look good and the portions look decently sized for the price. read more

The important stuff: Food is alright, tea is better, parking lot on the side but it's usually completely packed, no outdoor seating, chaotic inside. Before the pandemic, I dined in for some Taiwanese snacks- popcorn chicken, scallion pancakes, sausages, and more. Parking can get ridiculously hard since it's a single small-ish lot for several busy restaurants. The cashiers weren't at the register most of the time. There's about 10+ people scrambling in the back trying to fulfill the mountain of online orders. Everyone was stuffed like sardines in the kitchen/"bar", and packed just as tight in the limited waiting/dining space. The sad part: food was too salty, too soggy (which I'll blame on the transport), too dry, and just not like I remembered. By the way, I love their art drawings on the bento box and to-go bag, so cute! Grilled Pig Blood Rice Cake and Taiwanese sausage are must try (my personal favorite)! Chicken Steak is large, thick, and crispy with nice seasoning and will never let you down. Popcorn Chicken is always their must to go. Cold noodle is great, especially during the summer time. Now, we usually order online and everything has always been exactly correct. For the drinks we usually get the Double Brown Sugar Boba Milk Tea ($5.95), Mango Milk Cloud ($5.50), and Peach Mango Smoothie ($5.75). Honestly, the best boba comes from Chinatown. My sister claims that their Mango Milk Cloud is the best she's ever had. We've also tried their Taiwanese Brown Sugar Boba Pudding ($3.95) which was also delicious! We were kind of worried since we don't normally like pudding but it was so good! It resembled more of a custard than pudding to me. Foodwise their Popcorn Chicken ($8.25) is everything and more! It comes with cheese but we always get the ranch and it's way better. We've also tried their Special Braised Sliced Pork Rice Bento ($9.95). It was nothing to write home about but it was still good.
