I can appreciate the dining experience as well as the takeout. Love coming here for lunch, great deals, and great Chinese/Asian food here in the Heights. The Mongolian Beef and the Basil Chicken are my favorites with that Hot and Sour Soup. Great appetizer selections like the Dumplings, the Eggrolls, and those Crab Rangoons!!! If I could give it 10 stars, that would be awesome cuz they're the best!!!

Although the space is small, it has plenty of charm. The staff was friendly and service was fast. There's a good variety of options on the menu. We started with drinks and loved their fresh lemonade--it's served with sugar, fresh lemon juice, and a bottle of Topo Chico mineral water that you mix yourself. It was different, refreshing, and absolutely worth trying. We got wings for an appetizer. They were crispy and larger than expected. The sauce was buffalo-based with a unique sweetness that wasn't overpowering. The hot and sour soup was very flavorful--better than most places. We also tried the egg noodle and wonton soup, which came in a large portion, was well seasoned, and had wontons that weren't soggy. The kung pao chicken was well seasoned and came with an eggroll; I paired it with white rice. Everything had a great balance of flavors. The real star of the meal, though, was the fried rice. The shrimp were huge, and the rice was perfectly seasoned--not your basic fried rice at all. Overall, a great experience. I would definitely return to try more items on the menu.

Update. I'm subtracting a star because the server that was sweeping the floor used the broom to sweep off the bench, that's just nasty.

Solid set of menu options, quick and friendly service, lots of parking! Both the wonton soup and hot and sour were yummy. Portions for main courses are definitely shareable. We got cashew chicken and kung pao which were pretty similar. Overall, decent Chinese / Asian food at a good price.

I've been to Heights Asian Cafe many times and tried a variety of dishes. My favorites are the Beef Sesame, Wonton Soup and Chicken Lettuce Wrap--they suit my taste perfectly. The staff here are incredibly sweet and welcoming, which makes every visit even more enjoyable. Everything, from the utensils to the drinking glasses, is always very clean and well-maintained. The space is small but cozy, creating a warm and comfortable atmosphere. This place has definitely earned a five-star spot in my heart.

Would not return and don't recommend. Long story short, there was a baby caterpillar on my side of green beans which for one I thought the green beans would be sautéed or have seasoning on them but instead they were just blanched unseasoned green beans. With my luck, the one green beans I bit was the one with caterpillar on it and I understand that it's a fresh vegetable and it's a possibility for these things to happen but it's still unsanitary and shows me that they don't wash their produce thoroughly. As for the kids house lomein, while it was a large portion, there was no veggies in it and the meat did not taste good in it and had a sour taste. The lomein needed veggies in it for some flavor. The dumplings were just okay, nothing spectacular. The vegetable egg rolls are probably the only thing I can say tasted good and worth getting. Overall, this was my first and last visit unfortunately.

Service was great. Aside from that we left unimpressed. We had gone a few years ago and we were in the area and decided to swing by. We ordered the edamame that was over cooked and tasted like we were eating smashed beans. Then we had lo mien and the noodles again were very soft and over cooked. It was not how we had remembered at all and probably won't be coming back. So sad. Maybe I came on an off day.

We really like getting take out from here! The prices are reasonable, the food is always ready pretty quick, and there's tons of options. The general tso is pretty good, but my favorite thing I've gotten so far is the wonton soup. I always have leftovers for the next day. Good amount of parking too.

I dined here with a friend and was disappointed with my meal due to over reading and no meat I requested to exchange the dish but was informed that it wasn't possible. Despite eating very little, I was still charged in full. Unfortunately, I won't be returning.

the chicken was so good and juicy (with a hint of spice) ! as well as the white rice, i love ordering that! also had pork steamed dumpling (forgot a pic) and it was sooo good, the sauce on the side made it even better! staff was good too :) the low lights is such a vibe.

The food is comfort food. The service is outstanding. The ambience is Asain diner. The prices average. A small free-standing building with a private car park super clean, you can see the kitchen from your table. The service is more rice is brought over condiments in single serving packets beverage will never go dry.

5 Stars - Authentic Szechuan that absolutely nails the classics…read more During our short trip to Houston, as a custom, we were determined to find real Szechuan food, and luckily we found Hu's Kitchen. The location is a bit unassuming, and parking is definitely tough (the spaces are very shallow), but the second we walked through the doors and smelled the Szechuan peppercorns, I knew we were in exactly the right place. I generally judge a Szechuan restaurant by their 夫妻肺片 (Fuqi Feipian)--which they cleverly name "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" on the menu. They completely nailed it. The beef, tripe, and tendon were incredibly cohesive together, yet you could tell each component was prepared and marinated in a slightly different way to perfectly highlight its specific texture. The chili oil was right on the spot. We went through a massive bowl of rice just eating this dish alone. Honestly, if I weren't feeding a family of four, I could have just ordered that and been perfectly happy. While the Fuqi Feipian proves their skill with dry dishes, the 水煮魚片 (Fish in Szechuan Hot Chili Oil) proves their skill with wet ones. It's another must-order. The execution was flawless--we didn't just finish the tender fish chunks, we ate every last piece of cabbage soaked in that incredible chili broth. For my two daughters who can't handle the heat, we ordered the fried rice, garlic pork ribs with onion, and the 紅燒獅子頭 (Giant Meatball with Cabbage). The giant meatball was spectacular. The kids completely devoured it on their own, but I managed to steal a bite, and it instantly brought back childhood memories of exactly how this dish is supposed to taste. We also had the Dan Dan Noodles, which were great and rounded out the meal perfectly. I loved all of the dishes we tried. Should we ever find ourselves in Houston again, we will absolutely be revisiting this hidden gem.

No complaints here since we were starving from an 8 hour road trip. The Dan Dan Noodles...I had high expectations but sadly this dish fell short. I recommend Hu's Cooking to use a bigger bowl and more sauce because it was difficult to mix the noodles and the sauce wasn't...saucing, unfortunately. I wish there was more flavor in this dish. The Scallion Pancake was super over-fried and oily. See image in my review. The outer parts of the pancake were fried to a crisp and only a small circumference in the center stayed chewy. I know Chinese tends to be oily but this pancake soaked up way too much oil. Half a Peking duck: super great price for so much meat. The difficulty when eating this dish is gnawing the meat off the sharp bones of the duck. Mapo Tofu with white rice: pretty easy staple, no complaints here. Dinner on a Saturday was packed but we got seated quickly and food arrived fast.

And their other menu items are fire as well! We went on a Sunday late evening. We had a 9 pm airport pickup at IAH so it was a perfect opportunity to grab a spectacular dinner and make the 30+ minute drive out to IAH totally worth it. Parking lot wasn't too full so that wasn't an issue. While the neighborhood ain't River Oaks luxury, it ain't too scary either. We kept it simple - ordered a whole duck and Bamboo House Special Noodle with Beef. This place ain't cheap but the food is worth every penny. It was very busy that evening so it's not a well-kept secret but also proves that eventually, Houstonians will figure out where the good food is. The duck was near perfect. They serve the duck with the pancakes (as opposed to the buns like at Arco) which is my preference. The soup that comes with it was also extremely flavorful. And the house special noodles with beef - oh my. I swear it's just one really long noodle so you may be frustrated trying to divvy up the family style bowl, but the labor is worth it. So good... Can't wait for my next airport run so I can sneak in a lunch or dinner at this place. So many other menu items I want to try!
