The restaurant says that they close at 2 but when we arrived at 1:20, we were told that they were closing soon. Her hand pointed us over to a table so the hostess could finish her conversation with another table and later we were given three menus for a family of five. The folding tables and chairs prompted us to ask if they just opened but they have apparently been in business for 15 years. After looking at the menus, the server overheard us taking and informed us that because it was closing time (1:30 now), they were out of sausage gravy and grits. The coffee came burnt and watery. When the server came back for our order and my daughter asked about a hot platter, the server informed us that because we came in so close to closing (the third time we were informed of thIs) the breakfast special and all hot platters were not available. I was offered white or wheat bread and sighed at when I asked if they had rye bread or biscuits. All our food came out, except for our daughter's. The food is where this place gets it's one star; the biscuits are okay, the eggs cooked enough, and the pancakes are acceptable with enough syrup. The bacon, however was burnt and brittle and greasy as if it had been precooked and sitting at the bottom of a pan for the last four hours. As the owner and cook waddled out of the kitchen and regaled the entire dining room with a detailed story about her sisters medical expenses and issues, the hostess noticed that my daughter still didn't have her food. She did apologize for the delay in the meal and brought it out quickly. The check was dropped without further pleasantries and to-go containers were brought with effort. By 1:55, the hostess had started cleaning the table in an obvious attempt to get us to leave faster. As we left she made sure we caught her eye roll. We will not be returning as the hospitality and food offered by FlapJack Johnnys is superior in every way. read more

Decided to go here for breakfast with my dad because of the great reviews I saw on yelp...When I walked in, there were two ladies sitting on the left side eating their meal and a woman behind the cash register who didn't even acknowledge that two customers walked in. I'm thinking (how rude is it to not even say "hello" or "welcome" or "sit wherever you want, folks. I'll be right over.") I would understand if she was busy or on the phone, but she wasn't doing a damn thing... So we walk over to a table in the middle of the room and sit down. At this point, two young guys that look like they came off the street come out of what I suppose was the "kitchen" and start talking to her (I guess she's the boss). Seeing as we were most definitely not going to be greeted, I got up and grabbed to menus off their cleaning cart. About four minutes later the lady behind the cash register comes by ands asks us what we would like to drink without even so much as a smile. I order a water and my dad orders a coffee. She tells us she'll be back later to take our order and I say "thanks." As we're browsing the menu, a family of three and two elderly gentlemen walk in (both parties were never greeted as well, I guess it's a normal thing to not greet your customers here). While people are getting situated, the lady gets a phone call (on the business' phone) and starts arguing with the person on the other end very loudly. Must have been a husband or boyfriend - I sure hope it wasn't a customer. She gets off the phone and ask the other tables what they want to drink with a sour expression on her face and comes back to us to take our order. My dad ordered two eggs scrambled, two pieces of toast, two slices of bacon, country potatoes and biscuits and gravy. I order two eggs poached, two slices of bacon, two pieces of toast, hash browns (extra crispy) and biscuits and gravy. She informs me that they don't do poached, (I've never had a breakfast joint that can't poach eggs?!?!) so I order them sunny side up. (Both our meals were $6.50). Our food did come in a timely fashion. My hash browns were extra crispy (thank-you) and the bacon was good. My eggs weren't greasy (thank you, agian) and the biscuits and gravy and toast, okay. My dad said the biscuits and gravy were on the salty side - I didn't think so. All in all, I would not go back. I did not feel welcome. If anything, I felt like we were a hindrance to the waitress/cashier/boss lady. I work In customer service/retail and the way to get customers to come back to you is to make them feel wanted and that you are willing to bend over backwards for them. A simple smile and "hello" can go a long way if you sound sincere enough. read more

I found this location on yelp when visiting Ormond Beach. I called in advance and asked if they could sit a group of 9 they stated yes and said it would be 10 minutes. When I arrived they were very rude and stated that it would take at least 30 minutes before we would be able to sit. They then asked us to go outside and sent us to another restaurant (Howards- which ended up being a better choice). We drove out of our way to come to this restaurant based on the yelp review and was treated very rudely. I would not recommend this location. read more

Heffer's Twoo is right next to my parent's house, so we ate there a few times while on vacation. We had breakfast and lunch. As they aren't open for dinner. For breakfast I had the texas french toast, and it was yummy. It's hard to mess up french toast, I think! My boyfriend had bacon and homefries and he enjoyed them. The homefries are very thick cut potatoes, almost like wedges. My Dad and boyfriend had burgers from here. They both enjoyed the burgers. My dad is a burger eating King so when he enjoys a burger it has to be good. This is definitely a local place where some go eat everyday. I would definitely go back and the price is right. read more

Heffer's is our favorite breakfast place! The meal we order is the Britches Buster, it is delicious and an excellent value- you're not going hungry!
