Friends had introduced me to this Korean/Chinese restaurant that they believe is the best Korean mom & pop place for good wholesome food! It was hopping busy and we ended up writing our names on a clipboard by the entrance. Our wait wasn't too long. Lots of people were doing takeout. They offer a simple menu without a huge list of items to choose from. We ordered Combo E for $137.90 plus an order of the sweet and sour fried chicken. It's the best value offering a sampling of this and that with tasty food and decent portions. I was impressed by their huge portions which were plenty! There was enough leftovers for at least 3 more meals the following day. If you're looking for a fancy ambience, you won't find it here. If you're seeking yummy food, this is it! The service was great too! There's plenty of free parking in the lot. They're just across the street from White Spot.

Love this place as a lot of the items are surprisingly light but still flavourful. The more you eat, the more addicting it gets. JaJangMyun (special chewy noodles with veggies, pork and black bean sauce) are flavourful yet very light and full of umami. No wonder every patron ordered this for their table. KanPoongKi (spicy sweet and sour fried chicken) was very juicy and crispy. It was not really spicy but just enough to bring the dish together. Worth the price as the portions are huge.

What a cute little Korean restaurant! I don't come to the area often, but when I do, I always try to look for something local and authentic. This is place is a hidden jam in a plaza. Seems to be a popular dining place among the Korean population. I was craving for something warm, so I ordered the Jjam Ja Bang, which had two kind of noodles combined, the traditional Ja Jang Myum with veggie pork and black bean sauce, and spicy seafood noodle. The doodles were very tender, yet not starchy. The spicy flavor is my fav! To be honest, I should have just order that, but I couldn't resist to order the sweet and sour fried pork. The portion was massive! The meat had a very heavy batter, and a bit dry on the inside. The sweet and sour sauce on the other hand, was a good combination to dip the fried pork in. It adds a great flavor to the pork. The service was not the best this time because the waitress thought I was Korean , and started to speak Korean to me right away, and asked if I wanted to order fI mean, I just got here, can I take a look at the menu first? After she realize that don't speak the language, she was a lot more understanding and helpful. Over all? This place is good for small groups, and individual. The price is also very reasonable. Hopefully I get to go back there again one day.

This place is good for comfort Korean Chinese food. I would recommend it if you want Jjajangmyun or Jjambong. Good to go with a few friends. Service was okay but not great. During the pandemic, they could be a bit cleaner, but the food was good. I would say that it is worth checking out the takeout menu and will consider that option for next time.

This restaurant has been vetted and approved by Korean friends! For my friends who love a good Ja Jang Myun (Pork Bean Sauce Noodles), they offer Gan Ja Jang, which apparently is king to Ja Jang Myun!! It is basically the same thing, but the sauce and ingredients are stir fried, which makes the dish that much more aromatic and delicious. We actually ordered Family Combo B ($48.98) this time and everything was delicious (sadly we couldn't sub out the Ja Jang for Gan Ja Jang). This is what it came with: - Kan Poong Ki - Sweet and Sour Fried Chicken. Crispy and delicious. I don't think I would have changed anything. It wasn't too battered so I didn't feel like I was getting cheated! - Ja Jang Myun - Vegetable, pork and black bean sauce noodles. I do find that I've had better JJM from other restaurants (not Gan Ja Jang). My favorite use - Jjam Bong - Spicy seafood soup with mixed vegetables. So far from all the korean restaurants ive been to, their Jjam Bong is the best I've had so far. The noodles are chewy and the broth is delcious. !!!! This restaurant does not really give you any side dishes. I think it comes with a small dish of pickled radish but not the usual with kimchi, bean sprouts etc. Tip: When ordering noodles, ask for a scissor so you can cut the noodles more easily when sharing. Otherwise I find that the sauce always splashes on your shirt. Tip: This restaurant can get really packed, especially on the weekends! The first time I came, I think I lined up for about an hour.

Finally got to try this place after driving past it various times, we came here specifically to try their Jajangmyun and mandu. It's a smaller restaurant who will only seat you when your entire party has arrived with a seating time limit due to how busy they are. Sadly they ran out of mandu by the time we got there . * Combo B ($48.70) ~ comes with: - Ka Poong Ki - jjam bong - Jajangmyun. We asked to substitute the jjam bong for another Jajangmyun and they allowed us to do so. * Ka poong ki (Korean fried chicken in spicy sweet and sour sauce) ~ this was delicious, hella saucy and juicy. Expect lots of sauce as this plate was huge! The chicken was very flavourful and had a nice sweet and sour taste to it not to mention it had a good kick! I only wish the chicken was more crispy but I do also understand it's coated in the sauce so it can get less crispy quickly! * 2X Jajangmyun ~ this was saucy and good. The onions were so good and soft. The noodles were very chewy and delicious. The Sauce was thick and had a good flavour profile to it. Let's just say this was the highlight. * Stir fried rice ($14.90) ~ the rice was good. Comes with side of coslaw, and jajangmyun sauce. It also came with a fried egg on top. The rice was good but I felt it was a bit hard / dry in my opinion. But I'd assume that's why they have the sauce on the side. * 7/10 ~ overall I like their jajangmyun it was chewy and good. Fried chicken had amazing flavours. Rice was ok la. Wish it was less dry and hard. * 7/10 ~ the portions here are very generous we had chicken, rice and a small bit of jajangmyun left over between 4 of us. Total bill before tip: $66.78. *

Ordered two dishes and both were amazing here. Less seafood toppings than typically expected for these dishes but full of flavour and authentic. Recommended.

Good cheap korean restaurants. Worth the price for the big combo and could takeaway. The cheapest combo maybe suits for 5 persons as they are so big. I got the cheapest combo by the way. Anyway cheers and recommended for korean restaurant around the area!!

If you're feeling Korean-Chinese good, this place is such a great option! We visited from Seattle and happy we stopped here for lunch. Food: there's good food and then there's extraordinary food. I say this place has extraordinary food. We got Combo A which is enough for ~4 ppl and Noo reung ji tang (crispy rice stew), and pan fried dumplings. My favorite was the Noo reung ji tang - which is humongous and good for sharing. Sweet, thick and smooth, melt in mouth flavor bombs mixed with complements of seafood and mushrooms. Jja jang myun was great. The noodle and the sauce both stand out significantly from other places I've been to in Seattle. You taste the boldness of the black bean paste. Tang Soo Yuk is a masterpiece. The flour I'm convinced has some sort of chewy rice flour that gives is an amazing naturally sweet tasty (without the sauce). Add the sauce and bam - you've got zesty citrusy flavors that sing in your mouth. My mother in law said it's better than the Tang Soo Yuk she's had in Korea. Go for it this place is great. Price is great for what you get. Service: great and friendly. On the slower side but always available when you ask or raise a hand. Parking is easy. Went Saturday 11:30am no wait with five ppl. When we left at 12:30pm there was a line of people waiting. Come early :). Bathroom is clean, meaning the kitchen is clean. I'm coming back, all the way from Seattle!

Hee Rae Deung is like the OG Korean-Chinese restaurant in Lougheed. They serve up classic eats like jajangmyeon, jjampong and tangsuyuk. I usually order their family combo A ($38) and it comes with all 3, good for 3 people or a family. Only giving it 3 stars because I find their sweet & sour pork to be kind of dry (and because I recently found a better Korean-Chinese spot). Also there is usually a wait and the seating can be crowded/very close to another table. More on my blog: https://sincerelyloewe.com/hee-rae-deung-korean-chinese-restaurant/

Korean food is one of my top fave cuisines, so when a lot of people that are the same culture as the food come to eat at a specific restaurant, it's a clear sign that you're up for some authentically delicious food! This Korean restaurant is located in a strip mall in the busy intersection of Lougheed Hwy & North Road. It was hyped up by a close friend, and when we arrived it was clearly a popular spot - there was tons of seating, but we had to wait for quite a bit (on a late Sunday afternoon, no less). Indoors it is very bare, but it's nice when restaurants have an open concept. It was one large room with no sectioning off of any areas, so you had a clear view of everyone at the restaurant. We ordered the deep fried dumplings, black bean noodles, and sweet & spicy fried chicken (koon man du, ja jang myun and kan poong ki, respectively). The portions were HUGE! Definitely get your money's worth here, and the food was super satisfying! The dumplings were packed with filling, and although I prefer my fried chicken to be crispy and sauce on the side, it was still really enjoyable as it wasn't too spicy. My only critique was that the ja jang myun was a bit mild in flavour, I was expecting the sauce to be more savory (as I've had it before with a saltier & meatire flavour). The noodles were perfectly cooked though, and I loved the large helping of onions that you get! I will definitely come back when I can, hopefully at a time when it's not so busy!

Not only is Hee Rae Deung one of my favourite restaurants in Vancouver but I also firmly believe that they serve the best jjajangmyeong (black Bean noodles) in the world. I know this might be a bold statement but the texture of the noodles that HRD serves out is heavenly and the sauce is not too sweet. The jjampong (spicy seafood noodles) is also really good albeit a bit spicy. This is coming from someone who enjoys the searing pain of spicy food. The spiciness of this dish is sometimes a bit overwhelming so order at your own risk. The fried food here is incredibly delicious. You could order from dishes ranging tangsuyuk (deep fried pork) with a side of a homemade savoury but sour sauce to a kampoongi (deep fried chicken) covered in a delectable spicy sauce. Everything here that is fried is a must try! This restaurant is a mainstay in my family's weekend lunch plans and I would highly recommend trying it out.

Had to take my food to go so I did not have the opportunity to try the crispy chicken everyone in the restaurant was eating. I ordered the #26 the seafood fried rice with egg.... it was delicious. So delicious I forgot to take a picture.

It's small but has quite many seats, the lady is very friendly. She gave me a photo album to order from which is so fun and I have never seen anything like this before and every restaurant should 10000000% do the same. I ordered the 酸辣肥肠粉 pork intestine sour spicy noodle(added an egg) and potato shreds cold stir凉拌土豆丝 Ok I have to to say, the potato dish is THE BEST i have had in canada and it is a very very high compliment from me, since I order that whenever I can. It's soooo good and I ate the whole plate in a few mins. The pork intestine noodle is so so, I wish there are more pork intestine, I had 4-5 pieces and they r quite small, the egg tho, is sooooo good, it's worth it to add one to the noodle. They also add a ton of peanuts so if u have allergies u need to tell them, they wont ask u. She also gave me a small ice jelly dessert for free in the end, it tastes so good??!!! I am so full at this point otherwise I would ask if I can eat a full portion one lol Overall I will come back!

Both me and my friend needed to wait a few minutes till someone left, and when we got seated, they gave us their regular menu, and later on gave us a picture book.. and if you guessed it.... everything on their menu with a separate picture. My friend ordered his bowl of spicy pork chop glass noodles in soup, and I had a dry version of spicy noodles with pork. We also ordered their deep fried tofu, deep fried chicken, and a plate of spicy cucumber. Every dish was done just right, and what I mean by that is that every hot dish seemed to be made to order, and it was confirmed when we spoke to the lady there. The spicy cucumber dish came out, and you can tell they use fresh ingredients, the cucumber, although the chili oil used was spicy, due to the freshness of the cucumber, was sweet too. The deep fried tofu had a nice hard outer deep fried shell, and yet the inside was soft and really hot, the chicken took the longest, but this was worth waiting for, with the thin deep fried batter, I don't think I have ever had chicken this hot in temperature, and it was great. Both noodle dishes were huge, and I wondered how my friend ended up eating all of his, I had to take 1/3 of mine home as it was too much. We also ordered a plum drink and a hawthorne drink and at the end was served complimentary jelly as dessert. This was a great meal and if you are in the area, I would recommend you try this place out.

Unfortunately, we didn't fare so well with the rest of our meal. I've always wanted to try the Dan-Dan Noodles and I even opted for the Blade-Sheared Noodles. The noodles were overdone and so soft and slimy. It also didn't help that the extremely oily peanut sauce tasted like melted store-bought peanut butter with a smattering of minced pork. It wasn't even spicy as described. We also ordered the ironically dry and plain Green Onion Beef with Black Pepper Sauce. Not sure if the sauce spilled or evaporated but the container was devoid of any liquid. If it wasn't for the wonderful baos, my revised rating would have been 2 stars. Not really an authentic Szechuan restaurant. 30 years ago, most chinese cuisines were cooked by hong kongers or south chinese people. So, most of these dishes are going to be a southern take on it. Hot and sour soup - price is awesome. $11 enough for at least 6 bowls. Souo base is missing a bit of flavor but it is jam packed with ingredients. Drunken chicken - it was ok. Little on the salty side. Shanghainese pan fried pork buns - these were probably the worst I've had. Not made in house and not properly pan fried. No juice, super dry, no fried bottom crust. Bean curd wrapped pork dim sum - surprisingly this came out last. At least 20 min has passed. This is a steamed dish but it came out with dried edges like it was sitting on a dry heater.
