I have been coming here for a long time and I really enjoy their smoothies/juices. They are definitely a treat though, considering their prices (which make sense cause they use nice ingredients). They are also a wellness/supplement shop and the reason I give them 4/5 is due to their supplement prices being quite high. I get it, I just know you can find less expensive options. The owner Jim fired an employee while she was on bereavement leave after her brother had just commutes suicide. Talked to the grieving family on the phone and was as rude as you can be, refusing to pay bereavement because she was an "adult" even though it was her brother. Mind you, this place is called heart song nutrition. Jim had no heart on the phone, just heartless actually, and very selfish. Though I respect the products, this man has fired his whole family and treated his employees like trash. I first enjoyed an orange smoothie with added personal extras approximately a year ago. Unable to eat certain foods during a certain illness, HeartSong Nutrition saved me. The store is clean, packed with an assortment of books, supplements, vitamins and minerals. Along with Candles and cards, scented oils to choose from. There are a few tables so one can enjoy a book while sipping on a smoothie or a local magazine/news paper. I very much enjoyed my conversations with the owner who seems knowledgeable in health aspects of the food and drinks he was serving. I'll definitely be back. read more

The owner doesn't wear a mask. I've been a frequent customer but now 3 times I've visited and he hasn't worn his mask.

This is not an easy review for me to write. The owners are lovely and the smoothies taste fine. The place is clean. The location is near my office and it would be great to go here often, but I have a problem. I feel it's an unsafe location if you are in recovery from eating disorders. I've felt that way often in there but today took the cake! Before I could say no, the owner poured red stuff into my smoothie telling me that it would suppress my appetite. I explained I didn't want it and that I get migraines so I'm careful about additives, that I've even had medication for my migraines that took away my appetite and it was terrible for me. Instead of making me a new drink, he pushed on telling me about mushrooms to treat my headache, vascular qualities and his well meaning partner went on to tell me how terrible medicine is. I could only imagine what an interaction like this would have been like for one of the many people I treat for eating disorders at the nearby area. The smoothies are fine, but I suggest being quite assertive if you have unique sensitivity in this area. People with eating disorders are more likely to die than any other mental health diagnosis, so I speak up because it seems important to mention. Feeling safe to eat, and trusting ones appetite is the pathway to healing the underlying mental health issues. They push weight loss on unsuspecting customers. I know, the world is full of that but patron beware. Additionally, I found it startling that someone would assume and do such a thing without asking if it's a wanted addition. I'm sure they mean well and I'd hope you frequent the business if this is not a concern. Unless things change, I must warn my clients to be aware. I will see how it goes and remove this post if the vibe changes because otherwise it's a fine local business I'd like to support. read more

I am so happy to have found this place, especially since it's right next to my hotel. Yes, this place offers tons of nutritional supplements, but I want to talk about the wonderful smoothies and shakes this place offers. I stared at their menu for a good five minutes. They offer about 50 different kinds of smoothies from mango shakes to veggie smoothies with butternut squash and kale. Also, all drinks have no added sugars, non GMO and organic only ingredients. I am in heaven. I drank a kale, spinach smoothie with almond milk, honey and banana. It was delicious! You can barely taste the kale and you will also be tempted to drink the smoothie in one huge sip. I also loved how this place felt so welcoming. The bright colors and soft music made me want to sit and hang out with a book for a couple hours. Its a bit pricey here, but in all honesty I think it's worth it. The drinks are healthy and I'm willing to pay a bit extra for a high quality drink. I wish this place was closer, I would visit often!! read more

This place has wonderful smoothies. Delicious. But I will not patron it anymore. Number 1, the owners don't put a loud and proud tip jar on the counter for the sweet servers. Instead it's a small plastic cup barely visible which is on purpose according to the employees, who said the owners don't want to encourage it. (I own a counter restaurant and we sure do put one out all decorated and big for our employees!) and number 2, we are in the utter throes of a global pandemic with numbers on the rise every day. It is mandated by the State of Oregon that all servers, workers, essential workers, any business providing service, employees, owners who are their working, chefs, etc, etc wear masks. Not only is it mandated, the act of wearing a mask shows your customer that they and the community is important to them. And this was the OWNER today serving. I asked him 'You don't wear masks in here at all?' He shook his head no. Wearing a mask as a business owner, especially, serving food/smoothies, and all employers, while that owner is serving you, is irresponsible, selfish, unkind, not community-minded and again, it's MANDATED. Will not go in again, sadly. At our restaurant, in our tiny, hot kitchen serving 70-90 plates of made-to-order food over a hot stove all day everyday, the chef and server wears a mask. Period. If we can do that, the owner, and employees of Heartsong should be doing it when he serves smoothies to his customers. It's dismissive, disrespectful, going against the State mandate and he could clearly, by his response, could honestly care less. I walked out of the store and did not purchase anything. read more

BUT, I was dumbfounded when I found that the Candigone 2-part Cleanse was more than 3x as expensive at Heartsong than online. Heartsong charged me $37.99 when I could have ordered it, 2-day free shipping from Amazon for $11.40. I also purchased the Ultimate Flora Priobiotic for $39.95, when I could have bought it for $26.50 free 2-day shipping from Amazon. I don't mind paying 10-15% more to buy local and get good nutrition advice, but I'm not willing to spend more than 3x to buy local. I hope they adjust their pricing soon! read more

I am ADDICTED to the "Surge" at Heartsong Nutrition! It's only $6 and it's like an orgasm in my mouth. The crushed fruit they use is really good. 88 percent organic or something. I must have bought about 30 smoothies there this summer. I totally disagree about it being too sweet. They taste incredibly good and I do not like really sweet stuff like coffees covered in syrup and whip cream, or birthday cake. Yuck. These taste excellent and fruity just like they ought to. I actually had the exact same one - pineapple with coconut milk and a banana w/ protein. It was delicious! The staff is nice and I think they use quality fruit. It is crushed fruit, not fresh. But I don't know anywhere in Ashland that does use real fresh fruit in their smoothies. If they did, something like the Orange/Tangerine Surge would probably be disgusting and pulpy. Most places actually put sugary juice or GMO cow milk in it, or frozen concentrate for fruit. I like Heartsong a lot. Thank you guys! read more

I am going to sound like a fanboy, but this place has done more for my health than any doctors. They REALLY know their products. Almost two years ago, they turned me on to Neurlogic, I call it "brain food". My energy level increased, my focus increased, my productivity increased, old memories came back to me and surprisingly, my desire for alcohol decreased. Then they turned me on to healthy mushrooms. These aren't smoothies!!! When I get a smoothie, especially one I pay over $5 for, I expect it to have real fruit in it. When you order a smoothie at this place they pull out a bottle of juice, add water, ice, and milk, and blend. They say it's 100% crushed fruit with no sugar added. Maybe that's true but mine was so sweet I got a stomach ache and maybe even a new cavity. I got one with pineapple, coconut and banana. I don't even know how you can bottle juice from a "hand crushed banana". If I want a juice I'll get a fresh squeezed juice but when I want a smoothie I want it to have whole, blended fruit.
