This "hidden gem" (pardon the cliché) opened last year by Razia Hayden (owner & chef) and often has live music being played on the enclosed patio. She serves unique savory dishes, inventive desserts and beverages based on her knowledge of global seasonings, rooted in Mediterranean flavors. Most everything is gluten-free, locally sourced and made with spices originating from India, Indonesia, North Africa and the Middle East. I feel a certain kinship with Razia, since her dishes combine spices and flavors that aren't pulled from a cookbook or 3rd party recipe, but purely from her own creative chops, travels and heart. Before diving into her handcrafted chocolate bonbons filled with various creams and ganache (fair trade cacao BTW), I first enjoyed their French toast to prime my sweet-tooth. It comes with three slices of their house-made bread, soaked in an orange blossom custard, finished with a dollop of saffron whipped cream. Periodically, more training may be needed in how to serve customers properly, e.g., ensure they have utensils and follow-up after serving to make certain customers received all the ingredients in whatever they ordered, but overall their kindness and sweetness make up for any oversights. I have so many great memories of this place during the 12 years that my husband and I have lived here. I remember driving into Ashland in the middle of a snowstorm because I had an appointment with my yoga teacher and I do NOT cancel on her. After we finished yoga, I decided to pop in to Dobra tea and get a hot mushroom latte. I sat at one of the tables in the front room looking out at the snow falling. Almost no one was out and it was like being in the middle of a snow globe with a warm cup in my hand. Another time I was there with a friend for lunch. He ordered their avocado toast with egg, which I had never ordered before. He insisted I take a bite, which I graciously agreed to do. The flavors were so exquisite that it immediately became one of my many favorite things to order at Dobra. I learned they make their own English muffins, which is the "toast". Wow!!!!!! I love Crater Lake Coffee so much!…read more I'm visiting family in town and happened to stop in to this coffee shop and keep finding myself going back -- Not only has our food been delicious, our drinks amazing and as expected, but the employees are soooo friendly. So far, I've had 4 different people help me and all were amazing, helpful, and patient while I tried to make a decision on what to try next. One even completely satisfied my 11yo's request of a "fun surprise drink" -- which we later found out was an Oreo shake (not shown, but it comes with the straw on the side and an oreo on top!). The sizes are also larger than I was expecting, both for the food and the drinks... and there are so many options! We've had so many things, not pictured, and all have been great. The bagels, Oreo shake, and biscuits and gravy are top of the list! There are also two sides where you can order on the building -- so you're in and out quickly, and if you go around lunch, there are food trucks in the same lot as well. Seems like people are sleeeeeping on this place since it's kind of tucked away, but it's right across from Walmart -- try it next time you're in the area!
