My family and I were there tonight..unfortunately it was Trivia night and we were blasted with one song after the next while the guy asks trivia questions..you can't even hear yourself think! They have to play an entire song very loudly after each question. There were only 6 people including us there,,place was empty! We could not wait to leave it was so loud! Also my Son asked for more water and the Waiter was too busy with his 2 person table I guess making their drinks. I also do not like the way you have to pay there. The tip is already included asking you if you want to leave 10%, 15% or 20%,, those are the options you have,,you cannot just leave whatever amount you feel like and after leaving just a 10% tip I regretted it as my Son just wanted more water. The Waiter clearly could have filled up his glass real quick but we were left waiting so we finished up and left. The service is really bad! Trivia is extremely loud with music for such a small place with very few people! We are not returning!! read more

This nice spot on the corner of route 135 was a find. On leaving BID Needham, we were looking for a nice cozy place for lunch and were not disappointed. A nice low key interior and warm atmosphere is what we got. We were greeted at restaurant opening by a very nice professional employee and she quickly seated my party of two. The server exhibited a caring and pleasant demeanor, who was spot on and quick on service. The olive appetizer, vegan lentil soup, farmers pizza and pasta with eggplant, tomatoes and cheese were all tasty and quite satisfying. Dessert was apple crisp with two scoops of vanilla ice cream. We left with plans to return on subsequent BID visits and non BID visits. Ivan Pulecio was extremely caring and accommodating to our dining pleasure. A winner for us! read more

Hearth has completely turned around and I'm glad! The food was always great but there was a dip in service there for a minute. They've redecorated, got a great new waitstaff, and seem to be bustling. I'm glad we stopped here! My girlfriend had just left the hospital after a procedure and she was hungry for lunch. We walked in to get take out. The staff was very kind and considerate and showed up the menu. They let my girlfriend sit down because she was really weak after the procedure. We ordered chicken Caesar wraps. They were incredible! Croutons, romaine lettuce, Caesar dressing, and best of all; a lot of chicken! Most places go light on the chicken, but Heart Pizzeria didn't hold back. Found Hearth through Foodler (who are awful.. but that's a different review...) and was very pleasantly surprised! The spinach and avocado salad is great and contains exactly what the name claims. Plenty of fresh (not browned) avocado, baby spinach, thinly sliced red onion and a light, delicious lemony dressing. We also had the California Wrap platter - every bit of which (down to the wrap) was outstanding. The roasted chicken in the wrap was moist, flavorful and delicious. They also do not scrimp on the avocado here.. The meatballs in the meatball pananis were indeed delightful (and yummy). Everything was delivered either hot or cold (whichever was appropriate) and food was raved about. This will be come a regular in our catering rotation! read more

Third place is really hit or miss for us. Now let me start by saying I go here with two very young kids and for families this place is very accommodating. If you hit this place at 5:30-6:30 every table has kids. They let you watch the pizza making area and the wait staff is very understanding of how difficult it can be to dine with children (especially mine). To have an affordable place to take kids to is worth at least 4 stars. Unfortunately, I have to give a two star review. While picking up our dinner, I went to review our order with the cashier. (I wanted to double check the order to make sure it was correct due to allergies) While the cashier was reviewing the order with me, the manager interrupted her and and seemed quite frustrated. He seemed upset that I was questioning the order. Although I explained to him why, he seemed flustered and aggravated. I felt badly for her and myself and will not be returning. I hate to do this, but after the last time I was there I have to update my review and remove a star. I still enjoy their pizza and I like their live music nights a lot, but they really need to figure out a way to improve their service. It routinely takes us two hours when we go for dinner. It takes the waiter forever to take our order and when our food comes we never see the waiter again. Forget if you need something or want a refill - it ain't happening. And when it's time for the bill, prepare to track down the waiter. Also the last time I went I got a calzone and the meatballs inside were cold as ice. :-( We'll still go sometimes, but my patience is wearing thin with the poor service. read more

We tried to order for delivery. Get a call saying that it'd be at least 1.5 hours due to how busy they were. Opted to cancel delivery and reorder for pick up. Get another call from them about the order but she was getting the delivery versus pick up order confused. The $10 wings were 7 total small chicken wings and drumsticks - but at least you can taste the buffalo flavors so there's that. The small cheese pizza is almost comical how small it is... It's a kid size pizza for $9.50 which is ridiculous (see photo). Sad because this is the first place I've found in the area that offers a fig & prosciutto pizza... which was flavorful with a lot of fig pieces. The arancini balls were also tasty so that's a plus. There seems to be an abundance of great eatery's in Needham and Hearth Pizzeria is one of them. We had a quick lunch here Thursday afternoon, the place was busy but not packed so we got a table right away. Hearth is clean and trendy with tasteful decor with a big stone looking pizza oven behind a prep counter. The server/hostess was delightful, very friendly and efficient and as mentioned, seated upon entry. We started with small order of meatballs, these delicious golf ball sized morsels were dense with meat and had a little cheese in the middle, served in a little metal serving pot with a wonderful red dipping sauce, i'd come back for this alone. For pizza i went with sausage peppers and onions, an amazing pizza crust topped with delicious fresh made toppings cooked to perfection. There's not just pizza on the menu for main's, there's also some pasta dishes and salads, but with a name like Hearth Pizzeria, you got to go for it, although after sampling the meatballs i'd be very tempted to try one of the pasta dishes next time. I really appreciate what Hearth is attempting to accomplish, by disrupting the local pizza parlor industry through an infusion of organic, locally-sourced ingredients. With that said, the basis of this review is taste and value compared to other take out establishments. According to my Foodler account, I've been to Hearth 5 times in the past year. For pizza, I've had the Classic Cheese, Buffalo Chicken, Green Goddess, and Sausage Pepper Onion. I've also had the Caesar Salad, Buffalo Wings, and Meatball Poppers for sides. My major complaint is really the pricing compared to portion. Some of the pizzas are over $21. Salads and appetizers are $9. The pizzas are certainly good, but they taste healthy. When going out for pizza, I'm not exactly concerned about the health benefits. I just want it to taste good and leave me feeling full. For the wings, you get 6 per order. While the wings are good, they are on the small side for $1.50/ea. The meatball poppers I ordered last night were tiny; I'd estimate 1 ounce each. There are 5 per order. They were supposed to be served with focaccia bread, which was absent. The meatballs tasted fine, but almost $2/ea was outrageous. These are meatballs not oysters. The salad is also expensive for what you get. I think $6 would be a fair price for a container of lettuce and croutons. For a pizza and 2 appetizers you can expect to pay between $35-40. This will be enough food to feed no more than 3 adults. I think Hearth will remain in my rotation because it adds a change of pace to my take out routine. However, for it to become my favorite restaurant in Needham, I'm going to need to see better portions and/or more competitive prices. I'd also like to see more protein options on the menu like steak tips (just not at filet mignon prices). read more

What to say about this place? If I had only one word to describe it would be: stellar! Yes both the food quality (which I will go over in a minute), the environment, and their beer selection as well. Food: they focus on specialty pizzas and you can pretty much order anything out of the menu that will not get disappointed. My all-time favorite is fig prosciutto that I have has many times and it has constantly been off-the-charts. They have a decent selection of pastas and salads as well and I would say than their ingredients are only top shelf. Some of their same ingredients are only found on much higher priced restaurants and this is their secret of taste, freshness and success - I hope they don't get mad from me revealing that... They always have excellent craft beers on tap as well so if you in town for business or just need a drink after work, this is a perfect place as well. Suggestion for improvement? I would like to see more appetizers on their menu that speak happy hour. Sure they do have wings, stuffed olives and pizza crust but that's their weakest part in my opinion. Overall, this is an amazing, moderately priced, hidden gem in the middle of Needham and now after Ivan Milan took over I expect this place to thrive and become even more popular. read more

I'm also a big fan of the four cheese pizza with the mushrooms. Salty, tasty, and my kids don't like mushrooms so I don't have to share. We had our Welcome Party at Hearth Pizzeria the night before our wedding. This is a great location to have events! My fiance and I worked with Ivan the owner to design a casual pizza and beer dinner with a live jazz band. Our guests had a great time. The pizza was very tasty with creative local flavors, service was outstanding, the music and setting were enjoyable. This restaurant is located in the quaint downtown Needham with a parking lot, which was very convenient for our out of town guests. You can just tell this is a special place with ties to the local community and with thoughtful little touches on everything (heart shaped pizzas!!). Throughout the planning, we felt Ivan was accommodating to our requests and in general made things very easy. With all the craziness of wedding planning, I hadn't even thought about bringing any decorations, but when we arrived there were tablecloths and fresh flower arrangements on the tables for our party. It was such a nice gesture. I would highly recommend this place as a special event space or just as a restaurant, we can't wait to go back next time we are in town!!! read more

Normally I'm a fan of Hearth Pizzeria, which is why this review is even remotely positive. We recently got pizzas to go and were hugely disappointed. The wait time was supposed to be 20-25 minutes, after arriving 30 minutes later we were told it wasn't ready. 5 minutes later they thought to check the warming tower and found our food in there. When we got it home, it was ice cold and really sloppily made. Granted, it was a busy Saturday night, but to spend $35 on pizza, it should have been edible. read more

First of all I have to tell you I'm a very picky eater being a vegan. I'm not a raw vegan I like food that's cooked, healthy, wholesome and of course non-pretentious. When you come into this restaurant you'll realize that it's an extremely well-run operation and very clean. The restaurant buzzes with beautiful energy. The operation is very well organized and highly efficient. I even enjoy the beautiful music they play inside. Brian who is part of the management team is exceptional. They even went so far as to accommodate me by letting me bring my own vegan cheese. After spending many years in the restaurant business I always look at a restaurant kitchen as a factory and that if they can create something for the customer then why not go ahead and do it? When I was a young man I worked at Sydney Hill Country Club and this is where I learned the craft of actually taking care of people. The pizza dough is exceptional it has great flavor to it and a wonderful crunch but not overly chewy and very zesty. The sauce has the perfect amount of garlic in it. Yummy!!!! read more

I've been eating lunch and dinner here over the past two years and think it's an underrated restaurant in the area. The menu has a wide variety of pizzas, pastas, and salads. The food is always very fresh and carefully prepared. There's also a surprisingly good drink menu. The decor is understated, with worn wooden tables and kind of a big, boxy space, but it's a perfect place to take the kids when we want to have really good food but a more relaxed atmosphere. It's always perfectly clean, and I've never had a problem with the service--it's always very personable. It might feel slow because they actually make the food to order. Once I had a take-out order and was in an unusual hurry; the guy just ran the food out to my car so I didn't even have to go in. If you don't know the area, you might not realize that there is ample parking and an entrance in the rear. read more

This is the best moderate-priced restaurant I've found in the entire Boston area. Well worth the drive to Needham Center. It has a family restaurant feel with gourmet quality food. Lately, it's become our family's favorite. My favorite item is the meatball appetizer, it's consistently absolutely delicious. Great place to bring your family. My kids watch them make the pizza while my wife and I enjoy a sangria. The gluten free is not only top notch delicious according to my wife but she has never had any cross contamination. Myself however, I love the meatballs, the feta olive salad, the chicken parm and linguini and every so often I will get a pizza that is out of this world. The ambiance is incredible but all around I know exactly why I keep coming back and have always been impressed with the service. I ordered the green goddess pizza and the farm fresh pizza. We ordered the medium sized pizzas and were pretty disappointed in the size. The medium is NOT a medium - it is in fact a personal size SMALL pizza. The fact that they charge a few dollars less than the a large is a rip off. You are better off getting the large and save yourself the disappointment! Two mediums equals a large. That being said, the pizza was very good. The thin crust was nice and both pizzas had fresh ingredients on them. My other complaint was that the pizza was not very hot when I picked it up. Delicious, high quality, well-priced, and family-friendly. We got a "green goddess" pizza with a multigrain crust and it was as delicious as anything we've gotten in Italy. I have lunch here often first time posting, the food is always fresh and served in a timely manner , the owner always comes over and says hi , I have a service dog , he offers him bowl of water , he's too funny he says he is amazed how quit my dog is . They have cute little decor Art Deco of forks and spoons holding menus at the tables and a nice little bar around the fire grill were the make Pizza and other foods , again everything is fresh to order . I went here for dinner as well and noticed families come as well . Prices are very reasonable. Basically everything is organic on the menu and portions are very big to share .
