You know how in some restaurants you see the customers and they put salt on their food before they…read moreeven taste it? I think the chef is one of those people, because I had the muscles today and it was so salt forward. I mean it was dangerously full salt, but I was so hungry that I ate it anyway and then I told the waitress I said I should not even complain because I ate the dish however they should watch out for the salt. She said it's one of the most popular dishes and people like it that way . The restaurant decided to be gracious enough and swap that off of my order and let me get something else instead, but I was already full, so I took home a salad. Hours later, I figured it would be nice to have something refreshing after all that salt. I'm eating the salad and something crunchy and it's not the normal crunch. So I decide to like look into the lettuce and I see dirt. Especially now with everything going on around lettuce I am beyond shocked. I tried to call the restaurant granted it was dinner time but no answer so I called the sister company in another city and they said they would have the manager reach out to me which never happened . What surprised me as well as the manager from the sister location said he finds this surprising because the lettuce comes in triple washed, and they wash it themselves. All I could say to that is maybe open up the lettuce leaves and rinse them or open your eyes. So I'm putting it out there, I would like my money back, but since you can't answer the phone or own up to any responsibility, I'm leaving this message for you because I get a lot of hits on my reviews and I'm gonna tell people do not eat at this place unless your taste buds are completely dead and you just need salt and dirt survive. PS the ambience is so dark. It's decorated nicely, but they definitely need more light can barely read the menu.. Update, Stewart the owner wouldn't take my call, but they did issue a refund .

Lockheart is a Latin inspired restaurant in Boston with a creative menu and a relaxed atmosphere…read morethat makes it work equally well for a casual lunch or a longer dinner with a group. We walked into a space that is comfortable and notably quiet for its size, which made it a good option for larger parties or anyone who wants to actually have a conversation without competing with the room. Live music downstairs adds a different dimension to evening visits, and the kitchen stays open until midnight, which makes it a reliable option when other spots have already closed. The nachos are the standout order and the dish most worth building your visit around. They came out loaded and well constructed without collapsing into the pile of soggy chips that ruins most nacho plates. The smash tacos are worth ordering across a few different fillings to get a sense of what the kitchen does well, and the birria tacos in particular have built a following for the depth of flavor in the braised meat and the accompanying consommé for dipping. We tried a few of the other taco options, and they landed on the milder side in terms of seasoning, which was a bit of a letdown compared to the birria. The portion size relative to price also felt a little small on some plates. The ceviche was decent but benefited from some additional flavor, so adjusting expectations on that particular order makes sense. Service was attentive and the pacing of the meal matched the relaxed atmosphere of the room. The staff knew the menu well and offered thoughtful recommendations without being pushy. For a Latin restaurant in Boston that delivers on atmosphere, late hours, and a few standout dishes like the nachos and birria tacos, Lockheart is a solid option worth keeping in mind for a group dinner or a late night meal.

The home made beef short rib ragu had really good flavor. Overall a very solid dinner.

He spent all his time catering to group at the end of the bar. I had to get up and ask the waitress to check on my cheeseburger. The bartender just did not care. I thought the price for a simple cheeseburger at 22.00 as steep. There was nothing special about it. Cheese, hamburger, bun and some jalapeño relish. Take your chances just don't sit at the bar instead sit at a table where the service is better.

Overall, everything tasted great (esp the fried chicken and home fries) and the portions were massive to just right. If there were a few kinks to iron out, I'd say that the beignets weren't really airy and some of the mushroom stems in the omelette were really tough and should've been discarded before cooking. Next for dinner: their fried chicken dinner which came with Mac and cheese, collard greens/broccolini, cornbread, and the tempura hake, and a side of cornbread with pecan butter. That pecan butter was delicious, we definitely asked for more. The fried chicken dinner was also amazing, every single dish in it. The hake while crispy, didn't have enough salt. The server fixed it immediately with a side of garlic aioli and that was great. If I could make a suggestion, I would say they should swap out the celery root slaw for something that goes better with the fish. Service was excellent both times. Very friendly and accommodating, always asking if we enjoyed our meal and they were quick to make things right if we had requests. Ambiance is really nice, very warm, inviting, perfect for a sit down meal. Apart from a few kinks in their dishes (which I'm sure they can resolve), I'd give them 5 stars.

It's a bit on the newer side and while they continue to make improvements, there weren't any disappointments this evening. Sat at the bar to start waiting for friends and try a couple of their signature cocktails. I'm a huge fan of bourbon followed by tequila. There was a drink on the menu called, "Orange you Glad" that blended both. Too tempting not to give it a shot so I did. There's one shot of bourbon and a half a shot of tequila along with a quarter shot of banana liquor, banana liquor, green mango and lime.... spectacular. Four roses bourbon is the foundation making it an excellent start. There's not a huge choice of appetizers or entrées, but what they do offer is a nice variety with something you should easily find to your liking. We had two appetizers, the pickled veggies and the mussels. The pickled veggies were good, but the muscles were outstanding. Plenty of muscles to share. The sauce they were a part of was out of this world tasting. Of all the choices on the menu I actually went with the half chicken because it sounded so good. Many can make an argument that you can't screw up chicken, but few can make an argument when the chicken is outstanding. This was absolutely outstanding. Even the sides were amazingly good. If you're looking for a new restaurant and tired of the same old, same old, this one is worth your effort.

We were 6 people, bill was around 380..with the tax, tip & recommended 4% for the kitchen staff, another 80 in fees, which kills me after traveling through Europe fairly often. So 440 total. Way to much for one drink each for 5 of us, no drink for the 6th, no bottle of wine, split 1 app 7 olives, no coffee, 2 desserts. Way too pricey. When did 34-38 dollar entrees become the norm ? I would never return for one reason..that 4% tip for the kitchen. Pay your back of the house staff from those $$$$ entrees. Perhaps another idea is to take a % off each $15+ cocktail and pay their kitchen staff with it. I have not seen this done in years..absolutely no where. During the height of Covid, yes. But it faded away rather quickly and left a bad taste in everyone's mouth. Also, I'd recommend lighter plates, those poor ladies hauling in those large & heavy dishes is not a good look.

The garlic/lemon aioli that was loaded on the bottom of the dish was great just allows u to smear and dip everything into the plate instead of a small dip dish everyone has to share. The calamari and shrimp portion is a nice appetizer size. Crispy yes, but our portion was a bit overcooked. - spaghetti Al limone - perfectly cooked, nice chew and portion. You get 4 jumbo shrimps on the pasta plate. The lemon zest sauce was tasty! Enjoyed this! 5/5 - fennel sausage pizza 5/5 I really enjoy the way they make the pizza, crispy, good bites, fresh and served on the plate with a pair of pizza scissors so you can make your own "slices" loaded with toppings. It was a good thin style. Ample bits of fennel sausage, peppers onions and scallion fresh on top. - limoncello mascarpone cake 5/5 This was a great cap to the meal. Light, the mascarpone was refreshing, the cake was not heavy and the lemon flavor came thru like a champ! Not overly sweet which is a plus for us. Some bakeries make their cakes so sweet, that it all just tastes artificial, the slice here was yummy.

The restaurant was full and buzzing, but not chaotic. It was noticeable and palpable that the staff was very on top of things and apprared a well-oiled machine (the restaurant is employee-owned. Funny how that works.) Our server, Gabbii, was superb; extremely welcoming, friendly, and attentive. We ordered a bottle of Masciarello Montepulciano to accompany our entrees -- Kale Salad with Grilled Shrimp and Short Rib. My wife, despite expecting more of a typical Caesar with Kale (it was entirely Kale) enjoyed her salad. My Short Rib was sublime; fork tender and very flavorful with lovely creamy polenta and mushroom sauce. It was one of the best preparations of Short Rib I can remember. It was excellent! While we don't usually get dessert, a Limoncello Cake was offered to us and we found it very light, refreshing, and tasty -- with just the right lemon flavor to cleanse our palates and cap the meal. We ordered the steak app for 21$ and the amount we got was laughable. It looked like the amount I'd give my two year old. We recieved about 5 tiny bite sized steak pieces. We were shocked at how little they gave us for the price. We accepted it and waited for the other apps. The truffle honey ricotta bread app was just ok. The ricotta honey was great but the grilled bread tasted too burnt to enjoy. Okay, next app. The truffle fries, were the star of the show. Those were great! Now, our drinks. We ordered two lemon drops, and two other drinks (can't remember what my friends ordered) but we literally had to send them all back because they were just UGH and just not good.. at all. We felt so bad doing so but we literally ate our dinner with no drinks. Now let's get to the pastas... we ordered four different kinds. The chicken parm which was so bland, we had to send back. The gnocchi pasta which again so bland and not enjoyable at all, we sent back. & the truffle pasta which was just okay- very close to bland but edible so we kept it & ate it.
