Once they've sold you something, their communication, assistance, and customer care is appalling poor. My partner had a chair from here that was a significant help to him because of some medical issues. That is in large part the reason why I bought the chair for him as a gift. There was an issue with which the staff member/owner/whatever he is helped in a quick and efficient manner, which was much appreciated. However, the chair has been having issues for some time; the manufacturer had not provided the customer service that would be expected for especially such a large purchase. So we started working with the store instead in hopes to get some assistance as the chair continue to break down and becoming more and more unstable. But after almost a week after having sent requested information to the store about the issues, there had been no response or communication. I called to get an update and was told that a ticket had been submitted two days earlier with the manufacturer. This was never mentioned via response email or anything, and we never would have known this had I not contacted to find out what the radio silence was about. The products that are sold here are generally sold to people who need them for a reason. Most people--like me--are not purchasing a lift chair as an amusement (there are a lot more fashionable and less expensive chairs that I could purchase). So it's really disappointing that the store and what may be biggest manufacturer don't really seem to have the sense of urgency that or customer service prowess that one would expect when helping the specific population that they have set out a shingle to serve, and for the expense of their products. read more

The Healthy Posture Store is exactly the kind of neighborhood business that helps make Chicago the great city that it is. It's in an easy-to-miss storefront along Lawrence in Lincoln Square. It is across the street from 3 shoulder-to-shoulder restaurants and a hair salon. There is no dedicated parking lot, but we had no problem finding street parking on Rockwell very close to the front door. Rajeev is the owner/salesman, and he has a remarkable selection of ergonomic desk chairs. And you simply could not ever ask for a nicer or more knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly guide to purchasing an ergonomic desk chair. We lucked out and caught Rajeev mid-afternoon with no other customers in the store. He could not have been more patient as we sat in half-a-dozen different chairs while he encouraged us to sit in each for as long as we needed. He demonstrated the different adjustments and he answered all of our questions. The whole experience was so much better than just walking into a large office-supply store while waiting to be helped by the same salesperson who sells printers and pens. Rajeev worked with me to choose the perfect desk chair for my needs. He helped guide me through the available brands, and then through all the customizations that could be made for the particular brand I chose. I did some research on my own, but ended up with a lot of specific questions (due to the info from the manufacturer being a bit hard to follow). Rajeev reached out to the manufacturer's engineers to get clarification on everything, and also gave me his own advice. He did not push me only towards the most expensive features, and often advised trying the options to see what really worked best for me in practice. It was extremely helpful to feel the way each brand/model/option actually worked (or didn't work) for me in person. This gave me much more confidence in making such an expensive purchase (versus doing so on an online, and not knowing if it'll really be comfortable until after delivery). I've ended a new desk chair for years but never wanted to go through the effort to find one. I looked online numerous times and got infatuated with various well known chairs but my wife kept telling me I had to go sit in it. We finally moved and I decided to bite the bullet. I looked for a nearby showroom and found Healthy Posture. Not very imposing at 1st glance but it turned out to be a quiet jewel. Raj spent a lot of time, showed me chairs for $1500 and $300 and kept pushing and explaining best fit regardless of price. In the end it was a $1500 chair v. a couple of $350-450 numbers. He thought the less expensive chairs were a better fit for me, a big guy. He was right. When he realized I couldn't pick it up that day he offered to deliver that evening after closing. Then, he had a minor emergency come up, called to say he would be late but insisted on bring it over that evening. I lived in the burbs for years shopping at big boxes and online. As another reviewer noted, it reminded me what a pleasure it can be to deal with a small, local merchant who cares.
