    a. favorite design is a "hidden gem" of Albany Park and Chicago. It is a bespoke card and stationary print store that also has some organizational (calendars, organizers, and other desk items) and Chicago gift goods. These are not run of the mill Hallmark cards. So expect to spend a little more than you might at a drug store, but they are so fun it is worth a purchase for any snail mail enthusiast or for that special someone's special day. It is a small business so I visit regularly when I am out and about because I want them to stay in business. Love this place!

I love card shops, and I love supporting small, independent, woman-owned businesses. Ergo, I love a. favorite design. (The owner's last name is "Favorite.") This wonderful card shop originally began as a wholesale distributor before opening the brick-and-mortar store. All of the cards are original, handmade letterpress designs. There's cards for all occasions, ranging from sweet and sentimental, to fun and cheeky. In addition to cards, there's really cool vintage office supplies, maps, stationery, gift wrap--all unique. I spent a good thirty minutes in here looking at cards and such and chatting with the owner's mom, who was minding the shop that day. It seems this place is very much a family affair, which makes me love it even more. Come check out this terrific little shop and send someone you love (or even like) one of these lovingly handcrafted cards. It's worlds better than a text or an email. This is now my "favorite" new place to buy cards. Come check it out!

The staff at Amadara was really helpful, and the prices were reasonable. I only paid $6 for my little instrument accessory :). I just finished a…read moretiny shopping spree here earlier this afternoon and I'd love to share my experience here on this platform because I'm extremely impressed with everything I found here today from aromatherapy oils to healing chakra crystals and instruments. Today was my first time exploring this extremely adorable and unique crystal boutique shop! There is a large selection of raw and polished crystals, fabrics, clothes, chimes, bells, Tibetan singing bowls incense, massage and essential oils here. I found myself drawn to a variety of beautiful sacred geometry stones and picked out a complete set for myself in a variety of colors. Each stone of course is for a different chakra so if you appreciate raw and polished crystals you will enjoy wandering around this store and find many beautiful objects whether it's essential oils, clothes or sound healing instruments. I was extremely tempted to keep buying more and more; but I limited my shopping by buying three tiny perfume oils (myrrh, lavender, vanilla) one bottle of Champaka massage oil, a gorgeous clear quartz crystal a sacred geometry set, and a tiny cymbal. The owner is from Nepal and he's extremely friendly and helpful. I will most definitely return here as my budget allows and I highly recommend this gift shop if you're a healer or you just appreciate crystals and alternative healing. There's also an ample selection of incense here to choose from. I really love everything I purchased today

The instructor we had was extremely rude. She had brownish reddish hair. This made the experience high-pressure and felt like we couldn't really ask questions because of her attitude & rushing us. Especially during the demo. Her service was not good making the ambiance hard to enjoy. Once we sat down to tuft our own rugs. The Tufting itself was tedious, but once you get into the flow state, it can be very therapeutic. I'd rate my hands on tufting experience a five out of five. The demo experience was a two out of five. As time went on other instructors came around to give us some tips and tricks they was helpful. You get three hour slots. I do feel like it should be at least 3 and a half hours because once you get the hang of tufting, the instructors will come around to let you know what you need to fix periodically. I would come back, but probably to their other location in Bridgeport. This location Uptown was decent. You do get your moneys worth out of this experience far is the end result.

I quite liked being able to trace out my image to tuft. The selection of yarn available is great. The staff did come by often to make sure we're doing fine and checked in to see how we were progressing and gave tips and pointers. The turnaround time to pick up the rugs was estimated to be 1-2 weeks and I got my rug the very next week. They did a great job with making sure the rugs were shaved evenly and the backing was put on properly. I compared my experience here with my rug tufting experience in Dallas a lot during my time, and although I had to wait to take home my rug, I far enjoyed this one more. It was less stressful and the rug came out so nice. I would love to do their ceramic painting in the future.

LOVE IT! LOVE IT! LOVE IT!…read more Looking for a cool City of Chicago neighborhood poster? I was, and I wasn't satisfied with any of the designs I was seeing out in the marketplace. That was until I stumbled across Ork posters. I was about to buy it myself when my best friend (who is either psychic or able to access my email) bought it for me for my birthday. Nice! Ork's posters are sleek, clean, modern, monochromatic and just plain cool. I opted for the Spicy Red Chicago poster and it has completely transformed my living room. To top it all off, it's helped me to get to know the city better and identify neighborhoods I've yet to explore. Caveat: The only thing I didn't love about my Ork poster was that it was kind of a bitch to frame (mostly because I'm a cheap ass). The print is 24x34 while the closest standard frame size is 24x36. This 2 inch deficit meant I had to visit my local custom framing Nazi to get mat board ranging from $15-30. On the plus side, I emailed the owner and she seemed amenable to making the change.

I have Manhattan and Brooklyn as these two represent the two parts of the city I have lived in during my residence in New York. I chose the black wording and white background for my Manhattan poster and the white lettering and black background for my Brooklyn print. They have more colorful versions and limited edition prints as well. I have seen these posters in other apartments as well throughout the city. Ork also has many other cities, such as Boston, Chicago, Portland, Los Angeles and even for you Canadians, they have Toronto. Keep on rocking ORK! Thanks for adding to the eclectic nature of my tiny space here in NYC.
