A very underrated chain because what do you mean this whole plate is $16?? The flavor packed in this dish is insane, the amount of food you get is crazy, the mac is SO GOOD! Ugh everything about this specific plate at this restaurant is a 10/10, no notes. I always ask for double mac because I personally don't need a lot of rice for my dinner and the veggies just bring it all together feeling just a tiny bit healthier (lol who am I kidding). Absolutely come here, definitely try this dish. Yummy!!

Uhhhhh yummmmmmm! This shopping plaza has all the tasty goodies! My fav Pho place is Hot Pho nearby so I decided to try this spot and man! Reminded me of a place in Hilo on the Big Island! Delish! I got the lemon pepper grilled chicken. Think grandpas home grilled chicken breast sliced but still in the form of a breast and a good amount of protein given with two scoops of OG White rice and some cabbage and broccoli. Low sodium no un natural nada! Just good old school Home cooked vibe food! I came late afternoon on a weekday and it was slow but they said after 5pm and weekends are busy. I was in and out and fed in 30 mins! Parking is easy. Cost are reasonable and as expected. Good for a quick stop when you need a hearty good meal. Highly recommend it and I'll be back!!!

When traveling my go-to food is Hawaiian BBQ since I can get a quality protein and some steamed veggies. I really enjoyed their Teri- Chicken, very flavorful, juicy and delicious. The BBQ Mix- the BBQ Chicken was very good and so was the BBQ beef. In addition I loved the mixed of steamed veggies it came with. On a side note, although I was going lower carb for my meal tonight, I tried the ride and the max salad so I could compare to other Hawaiin Bbq places I like. The ride seemed old, some of it was hard and it was luke warm at best. The Mac salad was my least favorite item on my plate. I usually inhale it from other places but the mac salad today has no flavor and I could only eat one fork of it. Overall good experience, I'd eat here again.

This place never gives enough sauce for DoorDash orders. It's a sealed bag from the restaurant and sometimes you're lucky to get one 2oz sauce. Pretty terrible, just give 2 sauces per order and charge us without having to buy it separately.

Kalbi Short Ribs and Kalua Pork with veggies from Family Meal

Really good, considering the price and the ridiculous amount of food you get. Not the "best", but you gotta keep perspective. This is a casual dining spot, not a fancy restaurant! The young gentleman working the register was helpful and friendly. He made some menu suggestions based on what we wanted. Our order took about 10 minutes to assemble on a weekday morning. We got the family meal ($47.99), but subbed rice for extra veggies. There's no charge for this and it's an easy way to make Hawaiian food, uh, a little less unhealthy. They did a great job on the veggies - simple broccoli and cabbage, lightly steamed, fresh and crisp, well cleaned and not overly salted/oily. Mac salad was also a winner. Very simple flavor profile, right in the middle, making it pair well with everything. Not too sweet, not too salty, just tender macaroni that wasn't mushy. Kalua pork was mildly seasoned and cooked until tender. It doesn't seem as greasy as other cuts of pork, so felt a bit "dry". DH's tip is to pair it with the mac salad. Garlic shrimp (add extra $3) was a favorite. It definitely had the most flavor, since it used fresh garlic and onions. The shrimp were a good size, not "crisp", but acceptable for a casual dining spot. Wish it had more "wok hei", or pan-fried flavor. Kalbi short ribs (add extra $3) were pretty good. Lol, of course we've had better at Korean restaurants, but that was like twice the price! DH said it could've used more char. The family meal included 3 choices. We also got a separate BBQ chicken plate ($13.99), also subbing rice for veggie. I really liked the chicken, especially with a little drizzle of teriyaki sauce. It was flattened and they got pretty good browning on the pieces. The plate also came with a scoop of mac salad. Lumpia 6 pieces ($6.99) was a special request from little one, who saw it featured in a cartoon with a Filipino family. Honestly surprised by this one...seems fairly authentic with the smaller rolls and even came with the sweet and sour sauce! Doesn't have quite the depth of flavor as homemade ones, but it's close. Tip: for take-out, you need to package your own sauce!! There are two pump dispensers next to the soda machine - one for teriyaki, one for katsu sauce. They have small plastic containers with lids. Be sure the lid is securely fastened! Overall, a great place for take out or casual dining, especially if you're hungry and on a budget. Scratches that Hawaiian food craving!

Ordered the Teriyaki Chicken mini meal plate lunch. The dish was excellent with generous portions of bite sized quality chicken thighs. The Teriyaki sauce was flavorful without being too salty. The broccoli, Macaroni salad and rice were perfect. This is a great tasting value lunch. The price is super reasonable at $11.99

I stopped by the Hawaiian Grill Express to inquire about catering for our summer work picnic. The associate gave me a menu and explained their catering options. I ordered a Hawaiian chicken plate to go to sample it. It came with rice and macaroni salad and mixed vegetables. Very good. It was enough food for two people.

Our golf group stopped in after golf to grab a quick lunch. One of our group members said they have a good Kalbe plate. So we all got the Korean kalbe plate with a Diet Coke. The kalbe plate comes with three large grilled Korean short rib slabs with white rice, macaroni salad, and some blanched veggies all for $17. The short ribs were tender but could have had a little more char. Hawaiian Grill Express is located off of Fallon Rd. In the Target / Lucky's shopping center. No frills, fast food style but has some table and chairs for dining in. Plenty of parking.

Love this place and huge portion as always. The place is spacious. It was not crowded during 3pm on a weekday. Service was fine. The order took less than 5 min to be done which was great! Food is always yummy! Highly recommend!

Went school shopping & decided to try to get something quick. The staff was friendly. It seemed like an ordinary fast Hawaiian spot... I think some music would have added to the experience. Their beef is really good! I'd definitely order that when I'm back. Chicken was good as well. I got the combo plate, but their ribs were really chewy. Overall, wasn't bad, was super quick.

    HAIR IN MY "ASIAN SALAD"!
    Lydia K.

My food was horrible... it was my first time in. The customer service wasn't bad or good. I ordered the Teriyaki chicken plate with a side Asian salad. The Asian salad wasn't what it said on the menu at all. It was just a side salad. No shredded cabbage or shredded lettuce. The teriyaki sauce was so water down, it had no flavor, neither did my macaroni salad. The chicken didn't have the char flavor I love and they charged me $1.99 for a huge side of salad dressing when I asked for another small size. To top it off there was a hair in my salad, so I didn't even eat it. I won't be back...

I called ahead for a couple of spam musubis and was told it will be ready within 10 - 15 minutes - upon arrival, it was ready. The employee who took my order on the phone was pretty impatient and overall rude - he had an attitude. The spam musubis are sold individually, unlike most of the other Hawaiian BBQ spots, but the pricing is similar, if you were to get two pieces here compared to an order of two at the other spots. The musubi was a bit smaller in size compared to other spots though - it was more narrow / skinny like a rectangle, instead of the block / brick size. Overall, it was decent for a quick snack because they were the only musubi spot opened at night in this area that I found.

It's taken me some time to calm down enough to write this review…read more On April 25th I wanted to treat my family to L and L Hawaiian. I had not gone to this location before and never will again. That day, my daughter and I went into the restaurant and placed an order for us to eat there, and bring food home for the rest of the family. The only other people in the place was a dad with his young daughter - maybe about 6 or 7 years old. When you enter the restaurant, there is a row of different gum ball / candy / toy vending machines on the left hand side. The young girl got a quarter and put it into one that had those rubber bouncy balls in it. I believe the ball was supposed to drop from the top of the machine and follow a track that you can see all the way down into the exit hole. Anyway, she put in the quarter, turned the knob, tried again, and nothing happened. She let her Dad know and her Dad said to tell the man at the register (same man who rang us up, older man). The young girl gets up the courage to tell the worker (owner?) that the machine took her quarter and didn't give her a ball. I'm watching her tell him, and I'm seeing him shake his head no. I don't see him getting a quarter out to give her, apologize or ANYTHING. The girl tells her Dad he wouldn't help and the Dad tries to get the ball out by shaking the machine to loosen it. The worker yells at him to not do that, that the machine is broken. This happens a few times. That is when I couldn't sit there anymore and watch this man treat his customers this way. I said 'there is no sign on the machine saying it's broken - just give the girl her quarter". He refused and said he can't get into the machine to get the quarter. I said "you can take it from your register, or your own money, or your tips or whatever! This is shocking - these machines are in your restaurant and you are responsible". "You need to put a sign on that machine so people don't use it!" This man (older with glasses I think) would not budge. He wouldn't put a sign on the machine or give the girl back her money. He just stood there stubbornly. I never thought I would see something like this happen to customers and a small child! Terrible customer service, and just a bad human. I wished I could take my generous tip back! In addition the place was grungy/dirty and the food was terrible (not just the service). I will never go there again.

We arrived at 7:40 PM, and the manager, Joseph, told us the restaurant would close in 10 minutes. I said that's OK. We'll order the food and eat as much as we can there until we have to leave, and then we will leave by the time we are asked to leave. My boyfriend, Jeff, thought the restaurant was open until 8 PM, so he checked the website. It said the location was open till 8 PM, so he walked outside to check the time on the door, and it read 8 PM. There were no other signs that said they were closing at 7:50 PM. Jeff called somebody to complain about the time discrepancy while we were waiting for our order to arrive. When our order arrived, Kira brought our food to the table in a really cute to-go bag, and I like that she listened to us that we would eat as much food as we could while we were at the restaurant and then take the rest to eat at home when it came closer to 8 PM. Our food was ready pretty quickly; we had plenty of time to finish our food before 8 PM. However, I think Jeff just wanted the manager to be upfront with him and say that the store was closing at 8 PM, so it's better to take your food to go or something like that, not make up an arbitrary time to say what time the restaurant was closed. I'm rating this Koja kitchen location four stars mainly because of the outstanding customer service provided by Kira. She was incredibly friendly and approachable, making the experience very pleasant. I wish more customer service representatives could be as kind and easy to talk to as she is.

We also added vanilla ice cream and condensed milk to top. We were hoping to get their mochi, but were informed that they were out which was unfortunate. The ice texture was on par with the one in Hawaii! Super soft, and soaks up the flavors really well. Definitely recommend adding the condensed milk as it added the perfect sweetness and creaminess. They use vanilla bean ice cream, which I thought was a bit too vanilla bean forward, and which I opted for their coconut ice cream instead. Service was super quick, and they have signage posted that if you want more flavoring, you can ask for more! Will definitely be back in the future
