5 stars for flavor and their generosity giving back to the Maui community. The umami burger is my favorite. And the crinkle fries are excellent - recommend ordering them extra crispy with a side of ketchup and OG sauce for dipping. Umami is a smash burger patty with pickled jalapenos for a little kick, bacon jam, sauteed mushrooms, and bleu cheese aioli. The bleu cheese aioli is tasty with a nice, creamy flavor - not as strong as you would think for bleu cheese, so those who don't like bleu cheese will still enjoy this. Kolohe fries are their tasty, seasoned crinkle fries smothered with an American cheese sauce, sauteed onions, and their special OG sauce which is a savory mayonnaise sauce kind of like Cane's sauce with a little less tang. The only reason I couldn't give them 5 stars is because the burger patty meat can be a bit dry/overcooked to the point of being a slight bit burnt, but oddly enough, everything else in the burger is super oily. Located across from Costco gas in the Original Food Truck court/Plate lunch. Our favorites are the Original, Umami and the Hawaiian burgers. Our newest favorites are the ahi salad, fish and chips and the loaded tots. My family is partial to the crinkle fries. Always a classic. Call ahead and place your order. Tasty. Felt like it was made to order with fresh ingredients. The seaweed had a good texture. They were all sold out of Poké by the time we came at 4pm on a Saturday. Hamachi was an option, but was told I would need to wait for it to be cut up. We were in a rush, so I opted for the Spicy Tuna Hand roll. It was not your typical temaki cone shape, but still tasted good. Overheard that they had run out of onion for the roll, but it still tasted good with just enough heat. Balance of ingredients was done well. I did not feel like it had too much rice. Good for a snack before our evening dinner plans. It was nice to have the seating area with plenty of tables under the shade. I was given a pager that lit up when the food was ready. I went to the food truck by Costco. I was really craving a juicy burger and this places seemed to have good reviews. I went ahead and got the OG burger, but my mistake was getting the kalohe fries. They weren't very good, just some slightly undercooked crinkle fries with salty seasoning, little amount of grilled onions and cheese wiz. We've eaten at the restaurant in Keihi a few times, and especially enjoyed their tan tan. The food truck doesn't have any of the noodle dishes, which eliminates nearly half of the menu. Everything was extremely sloppy, and the market fish sandwich had cumin in it which made it practically in-edible. It wasn't advertised to have cumin in it, and as it makes many people feel sick, we were surprised it wasn't mentioned. The Temaki was bland, with no seasoning in the rice, and had barely any filling in it for 20 dollars. The fries were alright, very reminiscent of In and Out's animal-style sauce and onions. Overall, it was quite expensive for nothing great, and we won't be going back to the food truck location. read more

I am a burger fanatic and so have been wanting to try a Havens smash burger. First of all, the staff is friendly and efficient. I ordered their basic burger for $10 and crinkle fries for $3.50. They don't sell drinks but there is a truck nearby that does. They give you a buzzer to let you know when the burger is done. My wait was reasonable and the cashier made sure to hand me my order (she knew my name) before taking the next order. The meat was cooked well, it had cheese, dill pickles and their special sauce. (No mustard, mayo or ketchup.) The bun was better than average but not that fresh. Still, the burger was juicy and a bit messy. (Messy not a problem.) I just wasn't real fond of their special sauce. It wasn't as sweet (like thousand island) as I would like. Perhaps if I had ordered the paniolo burger for $2 more (adds bacon, onion ring and BBQ sauce), I might have liked it better but I'm not a real fan of BBQ sauce. Oh well. The fries were nicely seasoned, well cooked and delivered in a small bag with ketchup for dipping. My perfect burger search continues. read more

We had smash burgers from Haven's on our list for a long time, and recently we were able to try them at the Kahului location at Plate Lunch Marketplace. We ordered a cheeseburger and umami burger, both were a good size and delicious. They were not quick, but they were made from scratch and the time it took for them to be ready was reasonable to us. I preferred the Paniolo mainly because of the sauce. We also split the crazy tots. I was pretty full after half a burger but the tots were so good I had to keep eating them.
