This place was so delicious, we came in twice in one week. So impressed with the quality of food and the ambiance. I have been a fan of Bern's Steak House since 2015, however, we have never eaten at their sister restaurant. Last week was our 1st time visiting Haven. It was our son's birthday and we decided to try this restaurant featuring New American small plates, wine & cocktails as per recommendation of my friend. Tuna Sashimi, Hamachi Sashimi, Shaved Beef Taco, Seared Foie Gras, Cheese platter and Coal Grilled Octopus as appetizers were all 10/10. As for the main course we opted in for Glacier 51 Sea Bass (O.M.G.), Arctic Char, 8oz Filet Mignon (perfectly trimmed) and 10 oz Dry-Aged Strip. Drinks, 'Margarita', 'Lemon Drop' and 'Moscow Mule', were good as well with the exception of the 'Duck Duck Jeep' (it was an odd one). We did not try their desserts (both times) as 1st time visiting we brought a cake for our son's birthday, however, we were never super impressed with Berns' dessert room. I know it may sound weird to many as they are known for their desserts, but truthfully, we have had desserts at other local restaurants that we prefer over Berns'. Service by Madeline K. was on point, however, she accidentally forgot to place the main course item for our birthday boy, so he ended up getting his filet about 15 minutes after everyone else received their meals. It did not spoil our night as she brought out the cake with large candle with sparkles and it was fantastic! Our son was so surprised and I was able to capture some awesome pictures of him with his cake and candles. Overall an excellent experience by everyone: valet guy, bussers, food runners, hostesses and the wait staff. We also appreciated the fact that we were seated at a larger table/couch with brighter lights vs more of a romantic, darker tables. Our second time we requested to sit outside which was nice as it was a pleasant evening. Haven's tacos are my husband's favorite in Tampa and we ordered 16 of them that night. We loved our experience at Haven. We came on a Thursday around 6:30, the restaurant was not too busy. We had a happy hour special that was delicious. The rest of our food was great and we didn't have one complaint. We ordered the octopus, mushrooms, chicken thighs, and the duck special. Cocktails came out quick and were all tasty. I made the reservation that same day and Natalie was the one who assisted with making the reservation. She was wonderful and very helpful in getting everything finalized. When we showed up, we were super surprised to see that the room actually had curtains that revealed a glass window that allowed us to see into the kitchen! Our server Dan was amazing. Very disappointing, certainly not worthy of 4-5 stars. Waiter was grumpy, no personality, never smiled. It felt like we were bothering him all night. Food was very overpriced for the value. Several of us ordered the Wagyu beef and all of us thought it was very tough, a lot of grizzle, a low end filet would have been a much better choice. Appetizers average at best and salads just ok. Haven is dimly lit, creating a warm and intimate atmosphere for dates. It's also a nice spot for ladies night. It's not the perfect location for business dinners because the event room is right beside the kitchen. So you can hear "order up" quite frequently. A little distracting if anything. The bartenders are attentive and friendly. Parking lot is $3 valet or if you're lucky you may find street parking close by. Their Quadrefiore pasta is delicious! Their simple salad is beautifully and uniquely presented with delicate flowers atop. The blue cheese was very complementary. I didn't try the poached shrimp but was told it's nice. The Roasted Red Snapper was decent. If the skin was crispy, it would improve the dish in my opinion. I did it without the andouille. Unique dish but I would try something else next time. read more

You'll love trying the unique flavors of their vodka based Boots With The Fur cocktail. The best dish we had was the Bern's Filet. The steak is juicy and cooked just right. The side dishes are great too. The menu is seasonal but everything we ordered was delicious. We also loved the BBQ Oysters seasoned with chipotle, brown sugar, & bourbon butter. The Shaved Beef Taco isn't as exciting as some of the other menu items but still excellent in taste! After dinner, ask the host about The Dessert Room. If you get a reservation, you'll find lots of delicious desserts to choose from. It's honestly why we chose Haven for my birthday dinner, because it was a busy Saturday but I wanted The Dessert Room. Long-time customers here. We really enjoy the style of food the chef's prepared at Haven. Their menu is not like any other in Tampa. A lot of their dishes are served tapas style for sharing. Their charcuterie boards are what really stand out. If you order the chef's board, it will basically be items the chef picks out, some of which will not be available to build your own board, for example, our favorite cheese: the rattlesnake cheese This is a spicy cheese that they have offered for a while, and it is so delicious, and I recommend it. They also have gluten free crackers for your board by the way. Service is always great at Haven. Their indoor setup and decor is very nice. They also have a great patio with a garden where they are growing herbs and flowers. Parking is valet o ly. What a great experience we had at Haven! Went for a friend's birthday during happy hour. I ordered a burger and a skinny margarita. The burger had jalapeños and maple bacon jam. Phenomenal. What a great mix of flavors. It was cooked as asked. The valet is $3. Not bad. Especially if you decide you want to go to Bern's dessert room after. You can since Haven is a sister restaurant. Toward the end of your dinner, ask for a reservation for the dessert room at Bern's. When you've finished, you can walk to Berns and take advantage of the Haven valet. This review is directed towards management, specifically the "service manager" based on our recent experience. Went there with the best of intentions to enjoy a very special wine. Had it all planned out, from bubbles to begin and a charcuterie platter to accompany this wine. Only thing we didn't take into account was the pompous self-important attitude of this particular "service manager". First, the new policy. Until the entire party is there they will not seat you. And yes, they acknowledged that is a new policy. Weather was awful last night, traffic issues and more so we waited for third family member to join us. This particular manager came over to us just as we were ready to get seated took a very very careful look at the bottle of wine we had brought and told us he could not serve it as it was open. Keep in mind he could've said that anywhere in the 30 minutes we were waiting. He was right there all along. Yet he had to wait until it was time to be seated. Yes, I know rules are rules. It was the way it was delivered. He actually told us that if someone came in with an open bottle of water he would ask them to leave. Water - really? So we Took his advice and left. Paid for the valet parking even tipped them. And went out and had a phenomenal dinner elsewhere. About the very worst managerial experience ever, been dining out for many years. read more

The food was really good. The only qualm I had was that the short rib was a little dry and lacking sauce. The bartender and service was very good. So we only came here for happy hour bites and drinks, but just based on that alone, this place is 5/5 stars. First, the ambience. This place is dimly lit, intimate, and super trendy. Totally a first date spot if you ask me. They have these awesome like circular booths for larger groups too that are awesome for conversation. It was so hard to chose because they all sounded amazing but we ended up with Rattlesnake (spicy habanero cheddar; and yes it had a bite!), North Sea (caramel cheddar) and Moliterno al Tartufo (truffle pecorino). You have the option of ordering by the cheese for $6 each, ordering the Cheese Monger (a board of 18 cheeses), or the Chef's Board (daily selection of 3 cheeses and 3 meats). Not only was the board yummy, but their entrees and desserts were also incredible and made to share. We came here to celebrate my husband's birthday. Although the restaurant has been around for few years, we never tried it because I heard they focus on deriving meat. Parking can be challenging but they offer valet parking if needed. Food was good. Had a fantastic dining experience at Haven last night! Really enjoyed the fine dining quality food in an upscale/casual environment. Really appreciated how far apart the tables were spaced inside to give privacy/comfort. Service was absolutely impeccable. Server had a great attitude and energy, and knew absolutely everything there was to know about the menu. We started with cocktails, and I went with the Old Fashioned. Done perfectly. I planned on switching cocktails (since everything looked so good) but stuck with this the whole night. The selection of meat and cheeses was crazy. Two pages of cheeses! Thankfully, our server knew everything there was to know about every one and made some spot on recommendations. The creamy Brie, spread on the bread with honeycomb, and iberico ham = perfection. The prosciutto with the espresso butter was also crazy delicious. After stuffing our faces with meats and cheeses and breads and honey for about 45 minutes - 1 hour, we decided we should order some food lol. Started with 1 order each of the oysters - 3 x pickled ramp mignonette, 3 x BBQ (chipotle, brown sugar, bourbon butter). Both fantastic, the BBQ was very different, but very good. Next, we went with the Quadrefiore pasta (pistachio, lemon, Calabrian Chili, pecorino, pea shoots). I loved the texture as it was very thick, creamy and al dente all at the same time. Then we shared the foie gras dumplings. These were sooooo good, but very rich! That sauce was to die for. I'm glad we ordered them, but also glad we shared. Next we had the crispy creamer potatoes (w lemon and truffle). Decent side. Can't really go wrong there. Finally, we had the dry aged strip. Given that haven is in the Berns family, we knew it would be great, and it was. Dessert = Berns cappuccino. Always a must when at Berns or haven, along with their house made ice cream. My husband and I decided to celebrate our first wedding anniversary with the most memorable meal at Haven. COVID might have ruined vacation plans, but not good food. Yes, we found our favorite date night spot. We had nothing bad to say about a single dish or a single cheese. Lol. Charcuterie: We selected 6 different cheeses and they added little sides that would pair well with the cheese along with a basket of sliced bread. Our cheeses of choice: Brillat Savarin, Humboldt Fog, LeClare Smoked Cheddar, Moon Rabbit, Pecorino Ginepro, and there was a 6th cheese our waitress recommended, but I forgot to get the name...it was a bourbon smoked Gouda. We also ordered the honeycomb with the cheeses. Dinner: Bern's Dry Aged Strip: avocado, crispy yucca, malbec chimichurri - those yucca fries were SO crunch and soft on the inside...I could have at a whole basket of those. The steak, cut it with a butter knife! Foie Gras & Chile Oil Dumplings: chicken fat, vinegar, sweet soy - oh my goodness. That's all I can say. It was our first time trying foie gras and Jeremy was skeptical because he hates the texture of liver (he's had chicken and beef), but it was SO creamy. The dumpling dough was like sheet paper and the sauces were dip your fingers in GOOD. Fusilli Pasta: pistachio, calabrian chile, pea tendrils, pecorino - the pasta was a nice freshness on the side of our dishes and the pistachios on top was a great textural element. Toasted Olive Oil Cake: white chocolate, roasted peaches, smoked olive oil ice cream - LOVED this. The cake had a nice crunch from being toasted and the custard spread on the side, man, I could eat a bowl of that alone. Service was wonderful. Our server came to our table multiple times. Huge disappointment. I was very excited to go because I love Berns. I took my family for a dual birthday celebration. We got sat in the back next to the back door, which was very off putting. The whole night we felt like we had been forgotten. The food was ok, especially for the price. Sides dishes were trickling out well after the entrees. Some were forgotten all together. Let me start by saying the service from checking in for our reservation throughout diner was extraordinary. The service itself was enough to convince me to return. We had many items on the menu we had previously heard about and they were as good as we heard. The roasted octopus and shaved filet taco were absolutely amazing. For the second course we had the chefs board and Brussels Sprout salad. Also extraordinary. For the final course we had steak. Winnie had the filet, and I had the delmonico. Last night's dinner at Haven was amazing!!! This was our first date night in almost five years since we became parents! It has been six years since my last visit so I decided that it was time to update my review! My husband and I started off our meal with adult beverages. I debated whether or not to order the "Some Like It Hot" cocktail. I like gin and spice, but at the last minute I changed my mind and ordered a glass of Veuve Clicquot Brut because you can never go wrong with champagne! My husband ordered a dirty martini with blue cheese stuffed olives. He said it was good, but I make them better. Many of the entrées contained mushrooms or truffles and I am not a fan of either so we decided to order a bunch of small plates instead. The fried brussels sprouts salad was almost too pretty to eat. I wish my salads were this gorgeous! I would skip ordering the radiatore pasta on our next visit. The pasta was good, but too salty. I knew if I attempted to finish the dish I would be too full to touch the rest of the meal so I had our waitress bring me a to-go container. I didn't try the foie gras because it had chanterelles in it. My husband didn't offer me a bite so either the mushroom flavor was very present or the dish was too good to share. The coal roasted octopus was amazing. The octopus was tender with a slight snap and the spicy aioli was so delicious I nearly wiped my plate clean! The winning dish of the night were the dry fried pork ribs with fish sauce caramel, coconut, and green papaya. This dish was so unique and the flavors were so complex. Don't be afraid to get your hands a little dirty! We finished off our meal with dessert. On our first visit I was not impressed at all with our dessert. Last night I was mind blown by the olive oil cake!!!! This might be the sexiest, most sinful desserts I have ever had. The name is so plain, but don't be fooled! This toasted olive oil cake is paired with white chocolate, roasted blackberries and smoked olive oil ice cream. My husband never eats dessert and went wild over this dish! The only thing that prevents me from giving Haven five stars is the atmosphere. The tables are placed just a little too close to each other and the restaurant is extremely loud! If it wasn't raining I would have preferred sitting outside for a more intimate dinner. read more

Wow wow wow! We've been passing by Haven for years - we should have dined sooner! Service was excellent but food was even better! Dined here with a group. Got lots of starters including a cheese and meat board (yum! You can pick your choices), the bread with fat dip, tacos, Brussel sprouts salad, octopus and the best oysters I've ever had (bbq and another flavor that was vinegar type)! Highly recommend. You could come here and just order a bunch of apps to share. Every dish had a "flair" to it. The flavors were truly out of this world. The wine list was extensive but we stuck with a frank family - one of our favorites. For dinner I had a filet that was topped with blue cheese and served with the most yummy potatoes! She was not rude, but not pleasant. The ambiance is nice with a large open floor plan. My only issue with the ambiance is the table we were at had poor lighting. It made a difficult read while reviewing the menu. We ordered the steak and snapper. I hate I did not take pictures, but when I say the snapper dish is absolutely delicious, just believe me. Haven was easily one of the best restaurants I have ever had the pleasure of dining at. Firstly, the restaurant itself is gorgeous. It's modern and industrial with a rustic vibe. Casual yet upscale while still being inviting. I'm obsessed with the decor. There were 4 of us so we decided to go tapas style and share everything. We were stuffed by the time we left. The menu was very unique and diverse. You can build your own cheese board with 26 different cheeses. They had duck hearts to a filet mignon from their sister property- the iconic Bern's Steakhouse. That rocks if you were disappointed you couldn't get into Bern's since they are almost always heavily booked. Food we chose- Chefs Charcuterie Board- The Chefs selection of 3 meats and 3 cheeses- with some wonderful chutney, pickles, peanuts, bread and for me- gluten free crackers. There was the smoothest nicest Roquefort on this board. It was insane how wonderful it was. Bread and Fat- This one was an herb and olive ,olive oil and lemon-chile butter with some bread that looked wonderful. I ate the butter on gluten free crackers and it was delicious. Scallop Crudo- Sashimi style scallops- fresh and light. I really enjoyed this. Fried Brussels Sprout Salad- This was an absolute favorite. I'm not sure what all was even in it (bottle of wine lol) but the flavor was outstanding. I would go back for that anytime. Roasted quail- Another one I would go back for again and again. Absolutely delicious with a little sweetness to balance out the seasonings on the quail. Mac and cheese- I couldn't eat that because of my gluten issue. Though my guy said the sauce was a little too runny for his liking. Piri Piri Chicken thighs- Delicious flavor with a simple preparation. I loved the heat of red chiles balanced out by an herb yogurt. Campanelle Pasta- Everyone enjoyed this! I love lamb but again stupid Celiac. It looked absolutely decadent. Shaved Beef Tacos- My guy who is not a very adventurous eater loved these. I started with a Hey Boo Boo cocktail. It was gin based with fig and honey with some lemon. Super light enjoyable cocktail. The cocktail menu was unique and innovative. I really wish I could remember our servers name. He was knowledgeable and fun, yet not intrusive. He let us enjoy our meal at our pace. We were visiting family that we hadn't seen for awhile so it was a special night. He did an amazing thing- we had reservations at Bern's for the dessert room and we were running long so he changed our Bern's reservation so we had more time to enjoy our food. He did come over after to make sure it was ok which it definitely was. Being in the restaurant business myself, this was the epitome of great service. We took care of him but still wish I knew his name. Wrap up- if you are in the area- pay them a visit. You won't be disappointed. The service is excellent! 5 stars. During the gradual reopening of COVID, its reservations only. And they use paper menus for single use. Get the Chef's Board, the cheese and meat selections change. When we went, it was a cheddar harissa (I CRIED IT WAS SO GOOD). Soft blue cheese and a hard smoked gouda. The oxtail fried rice was really yummy. The octopus was super tender and had a citrusy dressing with grilled peppers and tomatoes. Haven is a part of Bern's Steakhouse. Which meannnss, their steak options are from Bern's including the aged Delmonico yay! Haven has a modern feel and the decor is upscale and elegant. read more

I went here for my birthday and I hate to say, was very disappointed. Maybe we just ordered the wrong things, but I was not impressed with the food. Ambience was also a little strange, the waitstaff was wearing jeans and just seemed to be dressed very casually for this nice of a place, but oh well. To start we ordered 3 cheeses, which were good but $6 for a single ounce of cheese is outrageous, even for a "small plates" place. Unfortunately that was the only thing I liked though. Then we had the Brussels sprouts salad which was literally just over-charred Brussels leaves mixed with some other ingredients. Tasted like the kitchen tried to make a salad out of leaves that fell out of the pan onto the burner lol. However, my entree was the biggest disappointment. I ordered the Pork Collar on recommendation by the waiter, because my interested was piqued by the morel mushrooms and shaved truffles. Unfortunately the sauce was so salty and strong that it completely overpowered any of the delicate mushroom flavor. The pork collar itself was very fatty, and seems to be a cut better served for use as a component and not the main star of the dish. Imagine if your main entree was a large hunk of bacon, that's what I'm talking about. The waiter was kind enough to take it back and not charge us for the dish thankfully. Unfortunately though, my mom also didn't like her entree, the sea scallops, which arrived mostly cold and was just a weird combination of flavors (cold feta cheese, middle eastern chickpea salad, and scallops?). The Mac and cheese we ordered as a side was also below par, barely warm, and honestly tasted worse than Stouffer's. Thankfully my dad liked his entree (the red snapper) so the entire night wasn't a flop. Our waiter listened to our concerns and tried his best to make my night better which I appreciate :). I know Haven changes the menu often so maybe we just got unlucky with what we picked, but I probably won't be coming back to try it again at the price point. read more

A short trip out of downtown, our Uber passes through fancy, old neighborhoods landing us at this "cousin " of Berns famous restaurant We were a group so we had the private chefs table in the rear of the restaurant. This table for +\- 20 has a full sized glass wall looking into the very busy kitchen. Grilled octopus appetizer, so common today, lives up to expectations with a salty grilled succulence. The charcuterie board of salted meats and cheeses sets the flavor tone for the night. The striped bass in a spicy, citrusy broth is crunch on the skin side and pillowy on the other. Steaks are a la Berns so....incredible. Fantastic wine selection. read more
