RIGHT after our food came out, a huge roach started crawling on the window seal we were seated next to. And when I say huge, it was so damn big I jumped out of my seat! I walked up to the nearest waiter and told her about the roach, and she could see it from where we standing near the kitchen entrance. The waiter told the manager, who used one of the cloth silverware napkins to knock the roach onto the floor, pick it up, carried it through the restaurant, and back to the kitchen. Lord I pray they threw that napkin in the trash! While that was happening, the waiter asked me "did it get on anything? Would you like for us to remake the food?" Ma'am after seeing a roach crawling through your establishment, you really think I'm about to sit up here and wait on y'all to remake my food? Then, the manager returned to the table to apologies and by saying "Well, it's Florida". Lady, I've lived in Florida my entire life, been to restaurants that aren't as nice, and way more affordable, and have never seen a roach. My date and I grabbed our belongings and left. I've come to this restaurant a handful of times, and it's usually hit or miss. When it's good, it's phenomenal but otherwise it's just okay. They do have a great happy hour with half price entrées. They make a really great dirty martini. The ambience is nice, and it does get very busy at times. Our last visit was a bit of a disappointment. One of the entrées that came out was cold, and the meat was hard. We asked for an appetizer as a replacement, and it took over 30 minutes to receive the appetizer. The oysters were fresh and packed with flavor, while the mussels stole the show with a rich, creamy sauce that had us reaching for every last bite. The filet was cooked perfectly and paired well with mashed potatoes, asparagus, and crispy onion rings that added a nice crunch. To drink, the Raspberry Lemondrop was refreshing, fruity, and looked just as good as it tasted. The mocktail and lemonade were also great options for balancing out the rich dishes. The atmosphere felt lively and upscale without being overly formal, making it a great spot for a date night or dinner with friends. We stopped in without reservations and luckily they had room for 4. The atmosphere is very nice, except that the air conditioning was blowing on us constantly and since it was cold outside it wasn't necessary. The menu was perfect for me as I love Italian food. There is a nice wine menu, as well as appetizers and salads. I started with a glass of wine, which was a good pour. I ordered the soup of the day, which was an herbed chicken and the gnocchi. After a few minutes she came back and said they had no gnocchi so I settled on the lasagna. After asking for bread, it finally came and was delicious. My soup came piping hot and was fantastic! So much flavor and it warmed me up as the A/C was ridiculously cold. Our 4 meals arrived at once and my lasagna looked great. And guess what? It was great!
