Pollo Marsala split
Carrie S.

Amazing service today at Casa Santo Stefano! We tried the famous salad, eggplant side dish, abs split the pollo Marsala. Everything was so amazing! The salad dressing was yummy, eggplant had an awesome mix of flavors and the sauce on the Marsala was epic! They brought our entree out already split up which was really nice. The ambiance is super cool- Like old world Spain and so charming. This is a great place to enjoy an evening anytime!

We came to Casa Santos Stefano for Mother's Day and it was amazing! We love how the restaurant was set up and how friendly the staff was. We made a reservation which I recommend if it's there in a holiday. But I believe if you walked in, you probably would've still been seated within 30 to 45 minutes. Next time we come, we will like to have the table at sit next to the open kitchen because that set up was really nice! The food was really good. We love the mussels and they give you plenty of muscle mussels!! the Sears I had was pretty good but next time I'll get the other fish dish that have more flavor to it. I didn't get a chance to take a picture of my sister's food, but she had a pizza that was really good and the server told us that it took a longer than it should've because the chef wanted to remake it because it wasn't up to their standards. That shows a lot about how they run their business! I'll definitely be back here for more Sicilian food and bring other others.

Gnocchi Special

Oof. I still dream about the dish whose photo that I included in this. It was a special gnocchi dish with a hot chili sauce on top. It was creamy, it was spicy; a phenomenal combination. Came here for a celebration of friends and the space was roomy enough and cozy. Casa Santo Stefano was able to accommodate us all. The drinks came out in a timely manner with no delay, as well as our appetizers and entrées. They do have a rotating menu and specials that I certainly recommend to take a look at.

**GOAT ALERT** - Pizza Parlor Giant Italian Salad What a great hidden gem way over at the end of Ybor. I have been to Columbia Restaurant a few blocks here from a bunch. Finally decided to give Casa Santo Stefano a shot. Holy smokes, I should have been coming here more. I was blown away by the cocktails and the food. The couple next to me ordered the Pizza Parlor Giant Italian Salad. They go the regular order for $16. It was a giant mound of food. Like going to a buffet and seeing how high you can get food onto your plate. I decided I would like to try the $9 side salad version. Even this size was plenty large enough. I freaking loved it. It tastes similar to the Columbia Restaurant 1905 Table side salad. This is a must order. The first cocktail I tried was the $18 Fumari (Old Fashioned). Right on point with 1 giant ice cube. Smelled like great care was taken in making the drink exactly perfect. The next cocktail I tried was the $16 espresso martini. The one here is made with real espresso, not out of a can, and it tastes so much better this way. There's a special type of rim and just a different tasting espresso than the standard one at most restaurants. I liked it. And the last cocktails I tried was off the menu, but just a $14 dirty martini. It was so good I ordered 2. I love it when these drinks are made correctly. For my entree I had the $18 Hot Honey Pizza. I loved the crust, I love hot honey, not the most packed pizza with toppings though. I will definitely be back to try other food items. This is a great place to start the night as the cocktails were 10/10 superb. And that salad is to die for. Super small bar area, but it was jam packed all night.

You know that rush you get, the first time you go somewhere that hadn't been on your radar for some reason-and you immediately fall in love? Yes! This was one of those places. A fun lunch with friends left me crushing hard on Stefano. I'm all twirly and giddy!. I mean, they had me at free parking. Yes! In Ybor! And there are two lots-right by the restaurant! Swoon! Then there's the decor-a modern take on traditional, OG Tampa. It was bright, light, colorful, somewhat industrial, true to the Gonzmart brand. It's very Ybor-but with a fresh spin. I could just sit here and soak up the atmosphere (and cocktails-the limonata is refreshing and fun)-but let's talk food! It starts with a very tasty bread service. I could do that all day, too. But you can't fill up-this menu is too good. I seriously considered the grouper. It had to be great. But at the last second, I went with chicken Marsala. WOW!!!! I was blown away with how good it is-a generous portion-smothered in perfectly balanced sauce. I scraped some of that off-but good gravy, it's tasty! This is a dish I rarely order anywhere-and like the rest of this experience, I fell hard for it. I know I'll need to try more items during what I expect to be many, many future visits-but I have revisit this entree often. We were there for lunch on a Saturday. No waiting with a reservation. It was bustling but not chaotic. The vibe was vibrant but relaxed. I almost felt like I was on vacation-such sunny energy. I'm breathless (and hungry) just telling you all of this. I know Stefano will go into regular rotation. So much to eat, drink, photograph! And did I mention free parking?! Delicious! See you there!

Such an incredible Sicilian restaurant! Everyone that works there is Sicilian too, so you know the food is authentic! I recommend their artichokes, veal, and eggplant parm, it was very tasty and filling. Our waiters name was Valerio, he was super nice! He brought my friend and I complimentary bread that was absolutely delicious! We were stuffed by the end of the night, no room for dessert! I'm sure their dessert options are epic though!

Wow wow and wow I would definitely mark this as a must eat spot. The Sicilian drink was amazing, refreshing and with tequila and sparkling wine it really did transport me to the ocean The Cesar salad wasn't my favorite on this trip, but don't get me wrong it was not bad at all. But the spaghetti bolognese holllly molly. I mean the portion was gigantic The flavors damnnnnnn. It really feels like Nona was back there making the sauce I will come back again and again. The venue is clean. Service great. My server Gianmarco was attentive and great. Give that guy a raise

Only coming to Ybor for beer, literally, in the past I had no clue about Casa Santo Stefano or Columbia which are owned by the same people. I thought it would be this small cozy place, and, well, it's not. The place is huge. The decor is amazing. Reservations are more than suggested. From start to finish the meal was amazing. My main of Merluzzo Pesto Siciliano was perfect. The MEATBALLS DELLA NANA - Blend of pork and beef meatballs gently braised in house-made tomato sauce, Pecorino Romano cheese and INSALATA DI CESARE - Romaine lettuce with classic Caesar dressing, garlic croutons, shaved pecorino Romano to start were great. Yet, the real surprise was the portion sizing and pricing. Extremely generous portions at very fair prices. Go by the dollar here and you will be taking a lot home. There is a private parking lot right across from the entrance though I Ubered here. Though I definitely will be back I also need to try Columbia too!

My friends and I like to get together for lunch at places where we can get good food and drinks and not feel rushed. This is one of those places. This was the first time a couple of us dined here but our one friend has been here several times. They open early for lunch so we got in at 1130am which was great because we wanted to be able to be out of Ybor before things got too busy for the Knight parade. My friend secured a nice half circle booth so we could sit like "the Rat Pack." The restaurant is beautiful, old school Mediterranean charm with new school sensibilities (ie. Great big windows with lots of light.) Us newbies tried the Limonata to start. Tart and deliciously refreshing. We later moved on to wines bybthe glass. They have a very good selection of wine by the glass. Bread is brought to the table so you have something to nibble on while trying to determine what to order. I was debating between the artichoke appetizer and the vegetable pizza and I went with the pizza and a side portuon of the Pizza Parlor salad, which is close to the Columbia's 1905 salad but slightly different and very delicious. Why are salads in restaurants so much better than salads at home? The pizza was charred perfectly and had a great mix of veggies. I went home with some leftover for later. I do not think one could go wrong with anything on the menu. I definitely want to come back, especially on a weekend night when the roof top bar is open! Also, I forgot to mention there are a lot of parking lots owned by the Columbia and Casa Santo Stefano so if they aren't too busy you can get free parking (always a plus!)

A little off the beaten path of Ybor which is an area not for the faint of heart. We started out with drinks on the rooftop which is cigar friendly with nice sunset views. Service was excellent from the bar despite there being a private event at the same time. The bartenders Sean and Jack were outstanding. We ended up staying for dinner which was amazing. Some of the best Italian we've had. And the focaccia bread was superb! Overall an excellent place that is worth the slight distance away from the heart of Tampa.

My friend and I came here for desserts The lemon vanilla cake is my favorite and my friend enjoyed hers as well. We were given a very nice slice for each of us . I also had a cappuccino with my cake. The ambiance was very nice. We were able to talk and catch up and the overall cleanliness of the restaurant.

My family went for dinner and had a great experience. First the restaurant is In a good location. Right in Ybor City. It was very busy and the staff was hustling getting everyone taken care of. Our waiter, Carlos did a good job during a busy dinner time frame. All of our food came out appropriately and prepared correctly.

Toasted Gnocchi + Meatballs della Nana
Amber N.

It had a comfortable atmosphere and friendly service. Overall the experience was good-- some things could be better; others were great. Grapefruit basil smash mocktail (2/5) -- It was good at first but it got watery after a few sips so I wouldn't recommend. Tiramisu (3/5) -- It was a big size and had a good balance of flavors. Toasted gnocchi (4/5) -- I've never had toasted gnocchi so I'm not sure if it's possible to make it crispier because that's what I expected. I enjoyed it overall. Even without the sauce, the gnocchi tasted delicious on its own. Meatballs (5/5) -- The meat was perfectly blended and I could've had many more of these.

Ask the Community - Casa Santo Stefano

What do you has to ask me as a question?

I have no idea what you're talking about.

Is your pasta homemade or package?

Their menu states they have homemade black ink spaghetti, they also offer Imported Sicilian casarecce pasta, and the rest of their pasta is packaged.

Is there outdoor seating prior to 5pm?

I believe so! It's suggested you call to make a reservation however. They often fill up quickly.

Do they have gluten free pasta? Or, at least gluten free options? Thanks in advance!

They have a web site and a posted menu.

What appetizers & entrees do the chef/business owner recommend?

At the time that I went, I did take out & the bartender actually help me. She was good recommending.

The restaurant sounds amazing. Just curious about the noise level. Is it very loud and difficult to hear people at your table?

It was just fine at lunch. I think right now with lower seating capacity that shouldn't be an issue. There was music playing but low volume.

I was in Tampa for work and stumbled upon this spot, and from the moment I walked in, I felt genuinely welcomed by the staff. For food, I ordered the Steak and Holly, which was packed with flavor. After I had finished the steak, I mentioned to my colleague how much juice and seasoning was still left at the bottom of the bowl. Unbeknownst to me, the bartender overheard and came out with a bowl of rice so I could finish it all. That small, thoughtful gesture really stood out. Special shout-out to the bartender, Jesus--he really made the experience. I also tried several specialty cocktails--many made on the spot based on the flavors and alcohol I requested. The bartenders were attentive, creative, and clearly passionate about what they do. Later that evening, I came back for the "Sunday School" experience, and the vibe completely delivered. While I came here for a Death Cafe event, I decided to make myself comfortable by getting myself some food and lattes. Thankfully, the place serves up food that makes a visit here worth more than just a quick look around. I got myself a hot marshmallow flavored latte, and a breakfast sandwich. The latte was delicious, and I loved the marshmallow flavor I got with it to give it a more unique taste perfect for winter. It gave me just the right kick while I waited for my event to start. The breakfast sandwich seems simple enough, bacon, eggs, cheese on toast, but each ingredient was thoughtfully prepared to make one filling meal. I can tell the egg is fresh cracked and the bacon was perfectly crispy, all held together by two slices of thick toast. I also loved the fries that came with it, well seasoned with cheese sauce AND melted cheese, so I was pretty occupied and well fed during my meeting. The staff here is great, laid back, and super-friendly to talk to. They have a good vibe about them that makes me want to come back to haunt--er visit them, haha, Death Cafe meeting or not.

A full service bar and restaurant on one side and a lounge type atmosphere on the other side with a live DJ. They play a variety of rnb and hip hop from old school to modern day. I really had a nice time. The reason only 4 stars was due to the host not being actively present at the reception area when you walk in. He was too busy on the lounge side dropping it like it was hot and helping the bottle girls "hold" the sign. We stood at the host stand upon entry for a while until someone went to get him from the other side. The food was just "ok". For the price of the food I expected more. I had the lemon pepper honey wings and the chicken and French toast. The wings were not cooked through and served in a bowl which made it very difficult to eat. It came with 2 cornbread muffins that were dense and very dry. The French toast was great. I opted for the one with peaches and icing. It was great. It was served with chicken tenders. Again, in a bowl, which made it very difficult to cut, as I had to dig in the bowl. They were ok, a little on the dry side, the breading was falling off but they were edible. The drinks were flowing and the vibe was good. No complaints there. Would I go back??? Yes, I'll probably try something different on the menu. I feel like if the service was a bit better, more attention to detail on the food and the plating of food was different it would have earned 5 stars. But I had an overall nice time.

Sadly, they do NOT offer their fabulous cocktails upstairs here, even though there is a bar. If you want to drink something stellar, you will need to walk yourself back down the two flights of stairs, and get it yourself. Instead, they have instructions on each table of how to order a standard cocktail on-line; you choose your basic booze, then your basic mixer, and a cocktail server will bring it out to you and take your credit card. Efficient, but very boring. The venue is small, but the sound was good, with the exception of the two magpies behind me screaming and nattering the whole time. Stunning Speakeasy Vibes, but the Menu is Carb-Heavy, the entrance to Madame Fortune is pure magic…read more You enter through a small shop and ring a bell at a hidden bookshelf door--it feels like a true secret spot. The interior is cozy, dark, and incredibly unique. We arrived early while it was still quiet and sat at the bar. Our host/bartender/server, Chanel, took care of us. While she was pleasant, the service felt a bit disorganized and it took quite a while to receive our drinks, which was surprising given how few people were there at the time. The Food: The flavors are definitely there--tasty and with a nice Caribbean kick--but the composition of the dishes left me disappointed. I ordered the Oxtail Shepherd's Pie ($35), and while the flavor was good, it was overwhelmingly mashed potatoes and corn bread. For that price, I expected more than just a few small pieces of oxtail and a tiny portion of cooked greens and onions. The Verdict: If you love carbs and cornbread, you'll be in heaven. However, the menu feels like it needs a modern touch. There is only one salad option, and the meat-to-starch ratio is way off. I'd love to see more protein-focused options and fresh greens added to the menu to balance out the heavy sides. Great for a drink and the "wow" factor of the hidden door, but the value for the food isn't quite there yet. Also a lot of fried food, which I rarely eat.

If you are in Ybor City and trying to enjoy yourself without lighting your wallet on fire, Barrio…read moreTacos is a very smart move. What I appreciated most is the build your own taco option, because it allows you to order exactly what you want without paying for a bunch of filler ingredients you were going to push to the side anyway. When you strip it down to the proteins and toppings you actually like, the cost savings are real. In a place like Ybor, where prices can creep up quickly, that matters. Now, the à la carte menu can feel a little confusing at first glance. It is not the most straightforward ordering system if you are just breezing through. But once someone walks you through it and you understand how to piece your order together, it becomes completely worth it. You end up with exactly what you want, and you are not overpaying for things you did not ask for. The vibe was great. The service was friendly and patient, which helps when you are trying to decode the menu. And the location is ideal. There is an outdoor patio with umbrellas on the sunny side of the street, which gives you options. You can sit in the sun if you want that warm Florida glow, or you can stay shaded if you are protecting your skin but still want to be outside watching the action unfold on the strip. And let's be honest, half the entertainment in Ybor is people watching. Add in the random roosters casually strolling around like they own the neighborhood, and you have a full show with your meal. I loved everything about this place and highly recommend it if you want to save a few bucks on food while still soaking up everything Ybor City has to offer. Good tacos, good vibes, good people watching. Hard to beat that combination.

Not much changed from it being the previous locations of other restaurants, but it definitely needs more natural light. It's like eating in a dungeon. The tacos there was a lot going on on the menu and I'm sure this is a niche, but it is not a niche. I am on board with any taco that had ground beef was kind of disgusting the other tacos. You could've made them at home and probably made them better if you're looking for authenticity this is not the place. Service the service was not much to write home about nothing was stellar, but nothing was bad. With all things being equal, this is not a place that I would naturally recommend somebody likes it but it's probably the same people that eat Tijuana flat.

What a DOPE, PIRATE THEMED, speakeasy to go to grab some delicious drinks! Totally blown away!…read more Tucked, downtown Tampa you enter through a secret bookcase door and you enter a very low key pirate bar! Lighting is dim, which is part of the concept. (Auto flash is needed for pics) The joint, is VERY CLEAN! The staff is awesome and very attentive! They understand process. The drinks are SOOO WELL MADE! I had a Zombie as my first drink, and it is very well presented and STRONG! I prefer,my first drink at an establishment to be strong cause then I can lighten it up later. Then I had a Rum Barrel, not as strong, but well presented and delicious! Note: Prices for drinks are worth every dime! They have a small food menu, but everything on the menu looked delicious, but I did not eat there. This speakeasy is attached to a British pub which I went for food after. (Review to come) All-in-all great spot to come and have a drink you are well treated, appreciated and just a fun experience! I will DEFINITELY come back here for a delicious drink and DEFINITELY will try something off the food menu. I'll just make sure next time I won't go there after a big breakfast lol! With all that was going on, it's a wonder we could find the exit after all the drinks. The pirate theme was the caveat. A perfectly dimmed atmosphere and willing performers that can conjure up delicious delights. The red light and point on music only enhanced the experience. Plenty of signature drinks, a dozen different beers and even a few dishes are offered. They stir a nice whiskey sour. It's really what suits your fancy. Fear not. They have mocktails, too! 12/25
