    Dirty Martini

This is not actually in a hotel, but it is a bar lol this is certainly one of the more cozy more intimate spots in downtown Tampa. Sean made a really decent dirty martini for me and the service here is quite top if you manage to snag a seat at the bar. I will say I think I've tried about every martini downtown Tampa and Hotel Bar most freshest regular olives.

I finally visited Hotel Bar for the first time this past Saturday, even though I used to work right nearby and somehow never stepped inside before. I believe they've been around since about 2017, and I truly cannot believe I've been missing this gem. It's a little tucked away and the sign outside does not exactly prepare you for what's inside, but once you walk in, the atmosphere hits just right. The drinks are honestly on another level! I'm picky about Espresso martinis and I order them everywhere. The one here was one of the best I've ever had. Yes, it came served in a water glass, which caught me off guard, but the quality was so incredible that I didn't even care. Next time I'll just request a martini glass. The flavor was an 11 out of 10! My second drink was the Hotel Nacional and all I can say is wow. Perfect balance, smooth, refreshing, and just the right touch of sweetness. I appreciated every sip. Also, music was FANTASTIC (2005 hits)! By midnight the place was packed and the space is pretty small, but that's part of the charm. It feels intimate, and like everyone there is also in on this "secret." Important note: there is no food, so come for the cocktails and the vibe, not a meal. The drinks alone make it absolutely worth it. I will definitely be back. This spot just earned a solid place on my Tampa favorites list!

I love hotel bar for a quick drink downtown or a night out! The ambience is low and moody in the evenings but it's set again an absolutely beautiful lit bar. The music is always good. They've got a massive bar stovetop and a number of really great hand craft cocktails as well. My favor to and go to is the espresso martini but the espresso is SUPER strong to take care!

A great moody cocktail bar to grab a nighttime drink! The vibes are definitely there and it's a good spot whether for a date or to catch up with friends. The drink menu is fantastic and has a variety of cocktails. All very picture worthy. The mixologists are super helpful and knowledgable in their craft too. Occassionally i've told them what i'm in the mood for and they've had great recommendations. It's so entertaining to watch them create all the different cocktails.   I've also had a great mocktail here; a take on a virgin mojito which was so refreshing.   I mostly visit on the weekend and it's pretty busy. I'm usually able to get a seat at the bar or at the back booth area, but sometimes there's a wait.

Cute and dark inside. Great bartenders and the drinks were so good. You will probably end up standing.

Fun place to mingle or catch up with friends! Our group of five struggled to find seats when we arrived because it was so busy. We made our way to the bar and set up there until a table opened up. The drinks were good but there were less options on the cocktail menu than I expected. Still, enjoyed the drinks, the music, and the company. Would recommend it for a post meal drink, or a pre-game for an evening downtown.

This place was recommended by the bar tender, Justin, at the Gin Joint. The bar was packed but I was lucky to get the best seat in the house at the end of the bar closest to the wall. I did not eat nor did I see anyone else eating. It seemed like a popular place for drinks with friends and work colleagues. I was solo so I was good enjoying the music and people watching while sipping on a cocktail. They had a book directly in front of my seat called cocktails and vinyl that had musical artists of various genres and their signature drinks. I started filling through the rock, chill and dance sections and reading about the artists and their signature albums and drinks. The first one I found was Pink Floyd, Dark side of the Moon and a drink called Total Eclipse. Some of the ingredients seemed a stretch but Mikey, my bartender had all components of the recipe and made the drink to perfection. It was killer!! The first drink had tequila so I decided to stick with that as the main liquor. The next one I found was a drink that was listed for U2. I had never considered myself a fan of U2, at the same time, I knew all the lyrics to their songs. They had a drink called El Diablo that to my surprise Mikey makes frequently so I had him make me one. It was rightfully named due to the active brand ginger beer that had a good bite. I had to teach a class at 8:30 the next morning so I decided to call it a night after my El Diablo. I enjoyed Hotel Bar and will make a frequent stop when in Tampa. Thanks Mikey!

Visited Tampa this past weekend and stumbled across Hotel Bar in downtown Tampa. This is a specialty drink bar. They have pretzels, gold fish, and nuts despite the appearance of kitchen doors in the back. The drinks are very highly priced we ordered a glass of Sauvignon and a double Grey Goose and the bill was $40 with tip. The atmosphere is ok but nothing to write home about. I always want to support small businesses but this one just doesn't fit the bill. Outside of having THE most comfortable bar stools, this place is not worth the cost. It reminds me of an old cigar bar without the cigars trying to be modern but not really getting there. They have a selfie spot at the entrance but it doesn't fit theme. We won't be back.

Although this bar has been opened for years somehow it's never been on my radar. Truth is I had never heard of it until last week. We decided to stop in on our way to dinner this past Saturday evening and so glad we did. We arrived around 5:00 and while they had patrons there were plenty of seating both at the bar, tables and booths. By 6:30 it had filled up so this tells me it does get crowded. Pros: happy hour every day 4-6. Drinks were well made. Bartenders friendly, courteous and knowledgeable to substitute ingredients if asked. They allow food to be brought in and they are next door to a couple cafes and restaurants. Different (not a con): absolutely no food. not even nuts. But with the ability to bring in food not a bad thing. I'll definitely be back during the week to see what the vibe is then.

Bartenders rush customers out at 230-245 when bar closes at 3am, to have "bouncers" try to rush the bar to close at 230am is rude and inconsiderate. We did not order anything past 230am. As a professional bartender for 10 years, your bartenders should already preparing for close at 2 am. The bar CLOSES at 3 am, that doesn't mean bartenders LEAVE at 3 am. No stars to this company entirely-- If I could give them a 0 stars I would entirely!! Very rude. Would like management to contact me. Thanks!! :)

It's got that all-around fun, energetic atmosphere that makes it a solid choice for drinks. Not sure how it is during the week, but it would make for a fun date night spot to grab some cocktails. That said, I had a real hang-up the last time I went with my girlfriend around Christmas. They tried to hit us with a $10 cover just to get in, on top of $15-20 cocktails. I don't mind paying for a nice spot, but the cover felt absurd, especially since it wasn't even busy. The bouncer said we could make a reservation to avoid it, so I did...and then he made us stand outside forever before letting us in. At that point, we should've just left, but since my friend had never been, we stuck it out to try the themed Christmas cocktails. Once inside, there was a two-drink minimum per person, which is kind of crazy. It feels like they jip you either way...cover or no cover, minimum spend or not. While waiting outside (for no real reason, since it was empty), we chatted with a party of six who came straight from Ash (the sister restaurant upstairs). They'd just spent over $1,000 on their meal and were still getting charged a cover to enter Alter Ego. That's poor business, don't force extra fees to guarantee money when good music, drinks, and vibes should bring people in naturally and make them want to spend. There's plenty of places on Water Street with great (and I'd say better) cocktails where you're not forced into minimums or covers. The Christmas cocktail menu was disappointing too, poor selections and way too sugary. Love the potential here, but the strict policies really turned me off and made me want to go elsewhere next time.

The ambiance was nice. A lot of eclectic paintings on the walls. And loved the outfits of the servers. Very 20's speakeasy. There is a live jazz band that started performing at 7 pm. They were good but at some points it was a bit difficult to speak and listen to those at your table unless you got really close. My meal hit the spot. We started with a charcuterie board for the table. It had a lot of great options like dried apricots, actual honeycomb pieces, and my most favorite cheese, some Brie cheese. The only thing was there was only 4 pieces of bread, one for each of us, which wasn't enough but I guess it made sense not to fill us up too much. For my main meal I had the sweet potato salad which was very tasty and the sweet potato risotto, which a little spicy kick. The only thing I missed was the Brussels sprouts and potatoes but was told that was from the previous chef. But they serve you enough so you definitely will have left overs. Not a big fan of eating in the lounge areas, those are best just for drinks and maybe desserts. But it's definitely a great place to people watch.
