I lived around the corner 35 years ago and although the neighbor has changed, this place has not, and that's a good thing. I already wrote a Google review but wanted to post on here too - I'm a 22 year old female and got kicked out because "my ID looked fake". I offered second forms of identification (my social security card, TSA pre-check ID, insurance card, two credit cards and a debit card both with my name on it) and they didn't care to see them, just forced me out the door. Staff was incredibly rude and made me sit OFF PROPERTY across the street on the side walk alone for me to wait for the cops to verify my real ID. As a young female, I found this incredibly disrespectful and dangerous to make me wait alone ACROSS THE STREET. The main manager, Kasey, is the one who treated me so horribly along with the bouncer who shoved me out the door. When I asked the bouncer to take a look at my ID he said he "wasn't authorized to" and told me the cops would have to come. What pissed me off even more was that there were 18/19 year olds in there whose fake IDs were accepted. I hear this place is getting new owners... I sure hope they train their staff on how to spot real versus fake IDs and to treat customers respectfully. read more

I love this place. Have been here 3 times so far and this is my first review of it. As you can imagine, it is "tiny"but that doesn't mean you can't fit a lot of people inside. This place gets packed and for good reason! It's a great little tavern that serves beer and wine. It's great for people watching, playing pool, listening to a good mix of music, and of course, having a few drinks! Service has been incredible the times I've been and it's always a lively atmosphere. Horrific experiences every time I have been here. First time I came was repeatedly disrespected by the male bartender. Second and last time I was at this establishment the female bartender with red curly hair over served MULTIPLE customers resulting in altercations in and outside of the bar that were ignored by staff. She made everyone around who was not involved feel responsible for cleaning up and resolving it as if she was not responsible for the chaos. Will never be going back. Was having a low key night with some friends this past weekend. Before I had even ordered a drink, the bartender was acting super off to me - almost like he had beef with me. Nonetheless, I opened up a tab and got a couple drinks. When I went to close out, my card was not registering for some reason. No problem. Probably user error, but whatever. Like any rational person, I simply had my friend cover the tab on their card for me. Problem solved, right? Nope. Bartender claims that I am trying to openly commit fraud and refuses to return my card. He was unwilling to offer any coherent explanation as to why he thought he worked for the IRS, and told me I had to come back the next day to speak to his manager if I wanted it back. Came to this bar for the first time with a small group of people. My boyfriend introduced himself to the bartender - "Mike" . Obviously my boyfriends name triggered the bartender. He proceeded to force us to close our tab and leave the bar. We have never met this man in our lives. He was obviously extremely intoxicated while working. He also proceeded to yell at us down the street as we left. Definitely do not recommend - it is not as friendly as people make it seem. read more

It's either you appreciate the "charm" or you're going to think this place is a dump with a terrible bathroom. I personally love it because once you enter it's impossible to distinguish what year it is, it could be anywhere between 1986 or 2018 it's stuck somewhere in time. How can you not love Tiny Tap??? Such a fantastic little dive bar. Beer is cheap, bartenders are so friendly and they have plenty of games! I don't smoke, but I still love smoking bars which Tiny Tap is. It's right in the middle of South Howard which is hilarious to me and makes it all the better. They serve your standard domestic beers but now they've included Jai Alai!! Obviously you have to know what you're walking into with Tiny Tap, but if your ready for some dirty old stained floors, hardly sanitary bathrooms, plastic cups and plumes of cigarette, then this is the place! read more

How does a dive bar get 4 stars? It reeks of cigarettes, is dirty, only accepts cash, and is usually dead. Not sure why people are scoring this so high but there are other bars in Soho that offer 2.50 beers and even for less that aren't complete dumps like this and accept credit card. Except when the bartender, a bit unsteady on her toes, forgot we had come in before an obnoxious sextet of "importer exporters," and started ignoring us as though we were of their group. She came back to our side when they left, though. It's a bit younger inside than I'd hoped, explaining the star demerit. A boy next to me who kept hugging another boy because they'd "survived" 4 years in Gainesville (they also planned to drive an hour inland, ripping drunk, to Winter Haven, to hang out there). The guy I really wanted to hear more from, a slight Japanese man who described in detail a recent surgery involving two stents, moved to the other side of the bar when a seat opened up. Thereafter, he accepted hugs from a progressively drunken parade of people of all ages and backgrounds, all of whom knew him, and many of whom had clearly worried during his convalescence. "For me," he said, "the greatest thing is that I can now drink and smoke again." Our bartender told us earnestly when we arrived that we'd better root for Juan Carlos Montoya to finish in the top 3 at Phoenix. There were 74 laps to go. This place is a little shoebox in SoHo/Hyde Parkish area. I was surprised by how not gross it was. The front room consists of the bar and bathrooms, and the back room has games and a jukebox. The bartender was very friendly, as were the drunks scattered throughout. Added to all the coziness of the oldest bar in Tampa is the fact that the drinks here are pretty cheap. From the passed out drunks to incognito attorney's and all inbetween. This dark watering hole, has some fun games, nice staff & an incredible cast of patrons, present company included.
